Hi! Anyone else around yet who's expecting in April 2016? I've searched Mumsnet but can't find a thread- apologies if I've missed it. Just got my BFP today due date would be 2nd April (so the NHS website tells me). Would be great to have company on this journey!!

Hi all. Just catching up on the thread because we have been away for a fews days. Congratulation on your scan glitter. So pleased everything looked perfect. I bet it feels so real now. I have mine on thurs and I'm very nervous.

The sickness had well and truly kicked in for me. I was sick out of the car window yesterday travelling home!!! It really wasn't nice. The boys were very concerned so I have just tried to say I'm gonna be poorly for a few weeks, and that it's normal for mammy's to be poorly like this Confused I couldn't think what else to say.

I'm feeling so sorry for myself and if the sickness is like previous pregnancies it last till about 13-14 weeks. I hate feeling sick. I think I'm going to have to start telling a few people now because I know they will guess and I may need to ask for a bit help with my 2ds over the next few weeks.

I hope you are all feeling ok and sickness isn't causing to many problems for u all. Grin

Sophia1984 · 15/08/2015 13:32

So watching the VJ Day commemorations with pregnancy hormones is not a good idea.. Sad

waxweasel · 15/08/2015 14:06

I'm having a hormonal day too. DH is being a right grumpy twat because he's stressed about various things. We were meant to be going out for a child-free lunch but he was a twat so I started crying in the street and told him to go home. So I am now having a perfectly nice solo lunch while he festers back home. Twatfacedcunt.

Can I creep in here very late? Just over 4 weeks preggo so due 23 April. Already feeling knackered and distinctly green so looking for a place to share my joys and woes with ladies who know what I'm talking about!

5madthings · 15/08/2015 15:30

I have been feeling tearful as well, very normal :) I spent the morning feeling like I was going to be sick but have had some toast with a scrapping of butter and feel slightly more human now.

Do we have a list of posters and due dates?

Re worrying about mmc etc again normal, if anything I have worried more each time! I have the 5madthings, ages 15, 13, 10,7 and 4 and have had three miscarriages last one in Feb this yr. I really felt that was it and I couldn't do it again, nature had other plans so back to finger crossing and trying not to get too excited but I can't help myself, anyone else like me and have a mental name list?!

Re sickness I find carrs water biscuits to nibble on helpful. Am sending dh to supermarket to get some.

MsGlitterJunkie · 15/08/2015 17:54

Hello ladies and welcome and huge congratulations to all the newbies Smile

watermaid I was 6+1 yesterday when I had the scan, was very nervous in case they couldn't see anything. With my first mc I never got to see a baby or a heartbeat despite being scanned weekly from 5 weeks to 8 weeks and my second mc I only got to 5 weeks so no time to get scanned. So this time things are looking positive although of course still very early days.

Good luck with your scan on Thursday della totally normal to feel nervous, I was SO anxious it's unreal, thought my heart was going to escape out of my chest it was beating so fast!! I'm sure you'll be absolutely fine but will keep my fingers crossed for you anyway.

Wow 5madthings I am in awe, this will be my first and I can't quite imagine how I'm going to cope with one and you've got five already! And yes, the fiancé and I have a shortlist of boys and girls names already Blush

KnitsBakesAndReads · 15/08/2015 19:17

Hi everyone. Another newbie here, this is my first ever post on Mumsnet, despite being a regular lurker for ages. I went for an early scan yesterday and they said I'm around six weeks. That's a bit earlier than I thought, but they said everything looked perfect so I'm trying not to worry (easier said than done!).

It's been lovely reading through this thread and hearing how everyone is getting along. I've not had too many symptoms so far, other than sore boobs and feeling more tired than usual (I was even thinking about having an afternoon nap today which is unheard of for me). I've had a few days where I felt a bit sick but nothing too bad so far.

I've been trying to find a good book about pregnancy, has anyone come across anything worth reading so far? I was going to get 'what to expect when you're expecting', but I've heard a few people say it's really American-focused which put me off a bit as obviously the healthcare system etc is so different in the US so I'm not sure how relevant it would be.

waxweasel · 15/08/2015 19:26

The modern girl's guide to pregnancy was the one my friend recommended first time round, and I found it really good. Very straight talking and informative.

pocopearl · 15/08/2015 19:50

How is everyone managing to get early scans? Are they private ones or through drs. I have 4 previous mc and not been offered one. :(

CarrotVan · 15/08/2015 21:20

poco mine is through the EPU. After my mc in May they said I could come back for early care including bloods and a scan when pregnant again. I guess practice varies by area but might be worth calling the EPU and asking

CarrotVan · 15/08/2015 21:26

I have completely over done it today and carried DS too much (he's 2.5 stone). My pelvis is aching so I guess the SPD is on the way

waxweasel · 15/08/2015 21:50

Poco, I think most of us are paying to get them privately, though it sounds like you have a good reason for getting one through EPU. Sorry for your losses x

Forders · 15/08/2015 22:19

Me too carrot. Ds demanded a carry for most of our 'walk' this morning and I could really feel it by the end. Oh the joys!

MsGlitterJunkie · 15/08/2015 23:17

poco I didn't have to ask for a reassurance scan my GP offered to arrange it with the epu - she knows the ins and outs of my mcs and the subsequent trauma/ anxiety. Go and see your GP and ask for a reassurance scan and explain your history in detail if they don't already know or it's not in your notes. Most epus require a referral from your GP or some other medical professional but in London, King College and Guys & St Thomas epus run walk in clinics that accept self referrals. If you're not based in London, do a google search for epus near you and see if any of them accept walk in self referrals.

CarrotVan · 16/08/2015 07:40

We had 'Up! Not Daddy up, Mummy up!'. Plus my DH has knackered his shoulder so is struggling to carry the boy at the moment. My lower back is killing me today and I need to build ikea toy storage

meganlilly89 · 16/08/2015 09:21

Last few days I have been struggling to find my get up and go. I feel so tired all the time..

Plus note two more sleeps till my early scan.

CottonSock · 16/08/2015 09:47

Poco, I won't get an NHS scan where I live unless I start bleeding. But, can get private for about £50 so I'll do that if no bleeding before 7 weeks. My gp did give me progesterone and asprin with no fuss. Now just crossing fingers.

I was in bed at 9.30 last night and slept like a log (uncommon). Dh has a stomach bug so is banished to spare room. Luckily me and DD have escaped it so far.

CottonSock · 16/08/2015 09:58

Ps. My last midwife did suggest I could invent some bleeding to get a Epau scan. I couldnt have done that personally, but I guess if someone couldn't afford to go private, and I was practically insane! In the end I did bleed a little just before I booked private scan. Got Epau referred and all was well that was my DD!

spottedquoll · 16/08/2015 10:04

Just discovered that a squeeze of fresh lemon in tap water makes all the difference for drinkability - weird, because I don't normally go for lemon in water! Hope you're all having a not-too-sicky Sunday.

louwn · 16/08/2015 10:37

I feel quite a bit better today (after around 10 hours sleep!) but ironically that is making me panic due to lack of morning sickness.... will someone slap me please?! I have read that it can come and go due to rising levels of hormones levelling themselves out, but this still does not reassure me for some reason! After a bad 3 days I guess perhaps I am going to get a bit of relief now.

woundbobbin · 16/08/2015 12:17

Morning all.
Thanks for the reassurance yesterday - am going to just try and not panic and accept I'll have to wait and see what happens at 12 week scan.
Sophie I've just ordered your smoothie ingredients on this weeks on line shop.
For whoever it was who was sick in the car apologies can't remember the name I take a big Tupperware box with a tea towel lining nothing like being sick when going 70 on the motorway
Good luck to those having early scans.

ComeLuckyApril · 16/08/2015 12:38

louwn I always feel less sick when well rested!

I don't know if I want to pay for an early scan, but will see how I go. I've got to 6 weeks and there isn't any reason to think anything is wrong - and at least the feeling tired/sick all the time feels sort of reassuring. Going to reward myself with the second of the fancy Clearblue digital tests in another few days though, to see the number of weeks have gone up.

I've realised cold drinks help with sickness. Started drinking cold milk again for the first time in ages - especially last thing at night and first thing in the morning - if I feel like I can't eat because I'm sick but am also hungry, it helps.

The most nausea-free I've been so far though is when I was away, eating a massive hotel breakfast and then just grazing the rest of the day, and napping every afternoon.

DizzyMerry · 16/08/2015 13:00

I went for a meal last night with my family and was completely wiped out. Slept for 10 hours and I'm still knackered could really do with a duvet day today but don't think DD will be too impressed. Woke up to feeling nauseous and had to have a little lie down again otherwise I would have puked everywhere!

I did a CB digi on Friday and got pregnant 3+ so felt relieved as I've not had much in the way of symptoms.

Dexlie0806 · 16/08/2015 13:58

Poco mine is also a private scan. Just to put our minds at rest as we have had 2 mc's this time round.

Wound it was me that was sick out of the car Shock. Great idea about the container in the car will def do that. Great idea Grin
