Hi! Anyone else around yet who's expecting in April 2016? I've searched Mumsnet but can't find a thread- apologies if I've missed it. Just got my BFP today due date would be 2nd April (so the NHS website tells me). Would be great to have company on this journey!!

I have a booking appointment at 8+5 (or 8+3 going by LMP). Will I get my 12 week scan date then? Got a few things going on at work so could do with knowing in advance if at all possible...as a first timer I don't know how the process works - do you just get given a slot?

spottedquoll · 12/08/2015 19:18

My booking appt is at 8+3 too - 3 weeks away and it seems like ages! I must actually go and pick up the paperwork soon.

Love the Ovia pregnancy app - it just followed up a tip about 7 ways to get your appetite back with an article about how too much weight gain in the first trimester is bad. Hmm Feeling the edges of queasiness lurking...

pocopearl · 12/08/2015 19:32

Ladies please reassure me its been so long since i have a pregnancy that stuck. Is it ok to have a few sharpish twinges where i would normally get period pains? I can't remember how much was normal, and what ones were like when i had my miscarriages.

CarrotVan · 12/08/2015 19:56

Normal - it's twinges from everything stretching

DizzyMerry · 12/08/2015 20:01

It's normal poco with all the stretching going on and our bodies adjusting.

louwn · 12/08/2015 20:03

I had this a week or so back poco. Seems to have eased off now so I say normal!

pocopearl · 12/08/2015 20:05

Thanks ladies, it probably didn't help i was driving at the time going round a sharp bend avoiding chickens and being dizzy. Im just so afraid of every twinge. Currently in the scared to poop phase incase i poop out baby!

Definitelysometime · 12/08/2015 20:47

Those of you that self referred to hospital (eg Kingston) are you still going to the GP too or just waiting for booking in? I can't remember whether GP did anything at all last time except work out due date and say congratulations. Is it necessary?

FussyHendricks · 12/08/2015 20:58

Probably unnecessary Definitely. Although Dr might be able to sign off your form for the maternity certificate to get free prescriptions though, so you could get it a bit sooner than waiting for the mw to do the form at the booking appointment

Definitelysometime · 12/08/2015 21:18

Thanks fussy, I'd forgotten about that bit. Hmmm.

CarrotVan · 12/08/2015 21:21

I would just self refer and not bother with the GP but actually I think the EPU will do the referral this time

FatimaLovesBread · 12/08/2015 21:43

Evening all. Thanks for all the well wishes.
Hcg has risen from 6244 on Monday to 11530 today so it looks like it's sticking around despite the bleeding. I've had no more blood so that's positive. Got a scan to check on Monday and then I'm transferred back to NHS.
My booking in appointment isn't until I'm 9+3 and then they sort out your 12 week scan. Hoping there isn't a long waiting list.

Will go back and catch up on the rest of your updates

Hanky3 · 12/08/2015 22:22

Hooray- excellent news Fatima! The blood results sound great and you must be very relieved the bleeding has stopped, hopefully the scan on Monday will be super reassuring as well.

Pleased for everyone with these upcoming booking appointments- I am sad about mine today, having been super organised and registered at a doctors while I was up in norfolk last week and booked an appointment with the midwife, I got a call from the doctors at 5.55 tonight saying I was out of area and couldn't be registered there. So it has taken them since Friday to work that out and tell me, despite me checking with two different administrators at the surgery that they would take me.... So now back to square one except in 3 weeks today I will be in America for 6 weeks. So I don't have very long to squeeze in registering at a new doctors and getting a booking in appointment. At least I can hopefully persuade DH to book a private scan before we go to reassure us that every thing is ok.

Excited to hear how others' booking appointments go and early scans etc, do put up pictures of scans if you get them (and if that is the done mumsnet thing?!)

Hope everyone enjoyed the bake off... Thank goodness for being able to pause to make snacks half way through when the goodies all get so tempting! Cake Cake Cake

Mummyofonesofar · 12/08/2015 22:28

Such great news fatima really pleased it is good news.

I am booked in next week for hCG bloods because I want to check they are increasing before I have my booking in appointment on 24th and scan on 27th. Will give me some reassurance that history isn't repeating itself. Though with indigestion, nausea, sore boobs and hugely bloated I am no longer without symptoms!!

I think scan dates work differently everywhere, some book with you there and then and sometimes they write to you or call you with your time and slot. Depends on the hospital trust.

DizzyMerry · 12/08/2015 23:18

That's excellent news fatima and such a relief too.

That's frustrating hanky but hopefully you can get an early scan before you leave for America.

I can't remember exactly what happened re scans with DD. All future appointments were made at each appointment but I seem to remember getting a letter about the scans. Hopefully all will be clear after my appointment tomorrow.

Definitelysometime · 13/08/2015 08:29

Oh Fatima I missed your earlier posts but so glad everything is well. Must be a huge relief! Is it a blood test for hcg levels?

Think I'll have to pay for an early scan again this time as my patience is terrible. Peed on another stick today and it's still 2-3w as it was last Thursday Hmm

Mummyofonesofar · 13/08/2015 08:31

X posts last night Hanky do you live in the US? What a pain registering and being turned down, I hope you find someone who can fit you in soon.

FussyHendricks · 13/08/2015 08:39

Fab news Fatima! So pleased for you! Good luck for the scan on Monday too.

Hanky, that is so frustrating! Hope you get your private scan for some reassurance. Moving between NHS trusts never seems simple!

Welcome Babytinx! Sorry I missed your post from Tuesday. Let us know your stats and we can add you to our spreadsheet

Dizzy good luck at your booking appointment today!

CarrotVan · 13/08/2015 09:41

Today I feel bleurgh with bloating

DizzyMerry · 13/08/2015 09:54

Is the first midwife appointment the booking in appointment? With DD I saw the community mw at my GP Surgery and she took some details, asked a few questions, weighed me and I think checked my bp. She then referred me to antenatal care and the first appointment with the mw there was lengthy, going through medical history and bloods taken. I'm sure I'll find out today but just wanted to know how it works for everyone else. Do you all go straight to booking in appointments?

TriJo · 13/08/2015 09:55

I think I'm going to have to stop drinking coffee, I seem to be getting less able to stomach my morning coffee by the day. This is more than a little bit upsetting.

Mummyofonesofar · 13/08/2015 10:24

DizzyM my "first contact" was ringing the MW unit, telling them my LMP, then I was asked to collect my notes and some leaflets on eating the right things and asked if I had any questions. My next contact will be the booking in appointment at 8 weeks, I have to write all my medical history on my notes so if anything happens to me it doesn't matter that they don't have my info. I also rang my GP surgery so they could but pregnant on my notes as all the systems don't speak to eachother and I want it on my records.

DizzyMerry · 13/08/2015 10:30

It's interesting how it works in different areas. We can't contact the mw directly until the initial appointment and don't collect any notes or fill in any forms until the appointment. I'm a little worried that I'm only 6 weeks today so maybe too early to see them if this is the booking in appointment but I did have a lengthy appointment at the hospital before the 12 week scan so not sure whether this is the first contact and then I'll get a booking in appointment at the hospital. I'll report back after my appointment oh and as luck would have it I've started with the full on nausea this morning. Managed my cup of tea but the thought of tea and coffee now makes my stomach churn!!!

Emileelogan · 13/08/2015 10:34

My mw appointment is 25 so I'll be nearly 8 weeks... Hopefully everything is good... Still have the odd cramps and sharp pain so fx xxx

LaPampa · 13/08/2015 10:34

Back from holiday now - thanks for the stats sheet. Can't seem to edit but I'm 33, due 11 April and live in North London. I am going to GP next week to start booking process - I moved back to north London at 36 weeks last time (was working away during week so did all my app where I was living) so not sure what happens where we are.

Came back to work this week after hols and can't believe how bad London smells! Getting nausea in afternoons and eves but not been sick yet. Last time started being sick at 9 weeks which lasted til 20 weeks so hope it's over quicker this time!
