Hi! Anyone else around yet who's expecting in April 2016? I've searched Mumsnet but can't find a thread- apologies if I've missed it. Just got my BFP today due date would be 2nd April (so the NHS website tells me). Would be great to have company on this journey!!

Fx for good news tomorrow fatima. It must be so worrying but the bleeding has stopped which is a positive sign. Hope you can get some sleep tonight.

Athousandtrees · 12/08/2015 10:46

Fatima Flowers fingers crossed all is ok and you managed some sleep last night.

I have decided to attempt to eat healthy today as I feel like a pig! So have raspberries, banana and yogurt in work with me. And a bread roll for lunch to help with the carb cravings.

Expectantrobot · 12/08/2015 11:10

So annoyed. I rang midwife helpline to ask for advice re:iron levels as still feeling rubbish. They also suggested I ring booking office to check my gp referral letter had been sent. Turns out it hasn't so had to do a self referral and apparently might still take 2 weeks before I even get a letter, let alone an appointment. I'll be 7 weeks tomorrow AND I'm away in early Sept so now panicking about when booking appointment will be and how they will fit in 12 week scan. Was telling myself it would only be a week or so til I had my booking appointment and that was making the wait not feel so bad, but now just feel miserable and like I should have just self referred 3 weeks ago when I first found out rather than waiting for GP's appointment, assuming they'd sent the referral etc.

Sorry for rant but feeling miserable and alone today. Third day off work and work is piling up, plus DH is away so no one to look after me. Bit fed up if I'm honest.

CarrotVan · 12/08/2015 11:10

FX for you fatima

I also have the bloat today

mascaraisamust · 12/08/2015 11:55

Fatima fx and hope everything is ok. I've been spotting for three days running now, seems to be getting lighter but not got any symptoms today. Just been to see the nurse at the surgery (standard check up for new patients as I've only just registered) and they've found blood in my urine Confused I dont feel like I have a UTI though. Results Friday now. Really tempted to poas! Might as we'll wait though as I've only got one left!

Dellabob123 · 12/08/2015 12:10

fx fatima

I have been bloated for about a week now and my jeans are killing me. i gave in and wore leggings today! I don't remember this the first time around?? I'm 5+6 and still no real symptoms. I suppose I'm conscious of my boobs and i can really feel it when i cross my legs, as if i'm pressing on my womb..weird?

I too have a work trip to Germany which usually involves drinking in the evening and I don't know how to avoid it then, two days later, I'm hosting our company conference and evening entertainment and drinking expected. Aargh, how to avoid as too early to tell work. Should i tell work?

Newbiehome · 12/08/2015 12:11

Got my booking in app for 19 Aug and scan on 15 Sept - getting post from the hospital made it all seem real! So glad to have a date now and doesn't seem that far off. Only two more weddings and a birthday party to get through...! Not sure whether to cancel the private scan I've booked for end of Aug. might see how impatient I'm feeling nearer the time!

MsGlitterJunkie · 12/08/2015 12:30

FX Fatima try to stay positive, sorry you're having a worrying time although it sounds like you're in good hands. Really hope everything is OK.

Oh that's annoying about your GP not referring you robot I'm sorry to hear you're feeling rubbish. I'm in London and it does take 2 weeks to get the letter from the hospital and from what I can gather, some hospitals do the booking apt and 12 week scan on the same day so this may be an option for you? Alternatively you could try another local hospital to see if they can fit you in sooner?

Della if you don't want to tell work you could say you're on metronidazole, it's super strong - they give it to alcoholics who are trying to sober up because if you drink while taking it it induces projectile vomiting and make you really, really ill. I was on it earlier this year for a gum abscess and felt so terrible I couldn't have drunk even if I'd wanted to!

mascaraisamust · 12/08/2015 12:47

newbie I was thinking of a private scan too but also wondering if I can wait it out! Only filled in the paperwork for the midwife/booking appointments today so guessing ill be waiting a bit yet for confirmation.

TriJo · 12/08/2015 12:54

I got my date for my "12 week" scan - September 17th. Rang up the hospital yesterday and finally got through to someone at about the 6th time of asking. They said they'd post out the details for the booking-in appointment, which is a bit annoying because we have some issues with receiving mail at my apartment.

Absolutely exhausted today, would love to just crawl under my desk here for a nice snooze...

Mummyofonesofar · 12/08/2015 13:05

Fatima how were your levels today?

robot that must be annoying but try not to stress, anything between 8-12 weeks I normal for booking in apt.

Della I have told work, but it is up to you.

Newbie & TriJo yay for a appointments!!

Getting my hCG levels checked next week at around 7 weeks by the midwives.

Dellabob123 · 12/08/2015 14:05

Well done on appointments. I wonder when I'll get mine? 6 weeks tomorrow. I just had lunch and totally forgot that I shouldn't eat feta cheese...eek.

Mummyofonesofar · 12/08/2015 14:14

Della feta is fine:

Soft, processed cheeses, if made with pasteurised milk: garlic and herb roulade, cottage cheese, cream cheese, feta, goat's cheese without rind, mascarpone, mozzarella, processed cheese such as cheese spread and cheese segments, quark and ricotta.

CousinChloe · 12/08/2015 14:14

Oh getting appointment dates is exciting! I've got to have an appointment with my kidney specialist (who I routinely see) and she'll refer me to the rich consultant at her hospital - I texted her on Monday to let her know and she's not got back to me with an appointment to see her, so frustrating! We're on holiday on Friday so not going to be around for the next couple of weeks so it's all feeling very slow.

mascaraisamust · 12/08/2015 14:58

cousin I think it's a good thing going away, less time to sit/think/worry/dwell/wait for what might be!! I'm going away next week too and I can't wait! Hopefully a letter will be waiting for me when I get back Smile my only concern is eating abroad Confused

Athousandtrees · 12/08/2015 15:11

I've been craving Pate today, this happened in my previous pregnancy too, all I wanted was wine and pate!!

Is there a veggie option?

Also other than a need to eat EVERYTHING, my symptoms appear to have disappeared. However DH is away from tomorrow to Tuesday so no doubt they'll appear back then!

Want2bSupermum · 12/08/2015 15:20

fatima Hope you get good news today. Lots of hugs going your way.

I can't believe the hospitals are sending out letters with booking appointments. Here in the US you call and book your appointment over the phone. It's all very simple with them asking your last date of flow, when you think you conceived and then they ask what time/ days suit you best. You agree a time and day then you get a text or email confirming everything from the more sophisticated groups. When you get there you fill out forms. Form filling is built into your appointment time at my obn but not all doctors do this.

I'm booked for August 26th at 7:10am. Will have the scan but so pelvic scan as staying with same group.

Dellabob123 · 12/08/2015 16:22

I just rang the hospital to see whether they got my GP referral letter, and they had, but don't do booking in until 9-10 weeks! that's ages away!!!

athousandtrees i know what you mean about cravings. Today, for the first time in years i needed salt and vinegar crisps and diet coke!

Plus, I've had a few crampy feelings just now, first ones really other than huge bloaty stomach.

mummyofonesofar thanks for that, I honestly can't remember so much about the food stuff and DD is only 2. Oddly, the ovia app says feta is a no no. Oh well.

mascaraisamust · 12/08/2015 16:31

I think some of the apps are American and say different to NHS guidelines. I was reading a really interesting article yesterday about the guidelines in different countries with what is and isn't allowed and the difference advice people were given by their doctors.

Della booking in appointments are 10 weeks here too. I'm so impatient.

I've convinced myself now that I have a UTI after they found blood in my urine sample. Trying not to think about it [rubs back pain]. Guess I'll have to wait for the results

woundbobbin · 12/08/2015 17:05

Fx Fatima hope you have had some good news today.

Sorry you are feeling so grim robot with no one to look after you - hope you feel better / get some joy with the GP

I've not told work dellabob but I don't really like my boss and a team member recently had a traumatic late MC so will try and keep it to myself for as long as poss.

Haven't been sick since this morning and have managed to eat lunch am now panicking that something is wrong as this is not how I've felt earlier in the week.

CarrotVan · 12/08/2015 17:18

Della can you just hold a full glass and keep telling people it's just been refilled? And maybe say you don't want yo drink whilst running the conference - I wouldn't drink if I were in charge of an event anyway

Mummyofonesofar · 12/08/2015 18:02

I'm in the UK and I just rang the midwives and picked my appointment at the 8 week Mark. They produced me some notes which I collected and fill in prior to the appointment.

Want2bSupermum · 12/08/2015 18:17

mummy that's sounds far more normal!

DizzyMerry · 12/08/2015 18:32

I'm in the UK and in my area you have to phone your GP Surgery and the receptionists books the first appointment with the midwifes. My first appointment is tomorrow when I'll be 6 weeks from ov date so not sure whether they'll date me from LMP. Still working to pursuade DH for an early scan.

Expectantrobot · 12/08/2015 18:43

Oooh exciting that people are getting dates for appointments sorted! I've bitten the bullet and booked a private scan for three weeks tomorrow when I'll be 10 weeks. Gives me something to focus on!
