Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 32nd grads thread... celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The thread we have graduated from is here in its 50th outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

There is also a Just Mumming thread here for once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates!

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

Here is the stats list, please update your own spot with any updates.

Size of a Cow. Brilliant song Grin I never had time in either labour to even put the music on, let alone get through a playlist.

La, Caribbean would be v nice that time of year. We're hoping to go to the Cape Verde Islands in Nov. Shortish flight and very relaxing. Lil has been and recommends Smile

Purpleball · 02/07/2015 20:12

Everybody hurts?

teejayem · 02/07/2015 20:13

Crikey ga that's crazy. Even from someone who actively chases these things, I wouldn't wish a direct hit on anyone at all. Hope you get the TV sorted x

Mexico and the Dom rep are good in November, you're past hurricane season then too so weather is a bit less humid and you should avoid the rain. Also it's cheaper in November!

We are still in the throes of the feeding frenzy here. Thankfully sons of anarchy s7 has just gone on Netflix so I've been binge watching it all day. Also, for those horrified by my birth tapestry woe, I am pleased to report that it doesn't hurt anymore at all, and I might go as far to say I'm quite healed! So it's been three weeks, not as long as I thought and definitely not the end of the world. No worse than SPD, so please don't despair!
Some other tips that I've picked up from being on the 'other side'....

Lasinoh breast pads and nip creams are unbeatable, I have been super leaky in the heat and they have stood up to the test! 60 pads have lasted me 2 weeks and the cream has helped my poor over suckled nips! FYI- old nipple piercings have not affected feeding at all, I remember we did have a discussion about piercings a few months back!

I stopped wearing maternity pads about a week ago and have been alternating between always infinity and 'cottons' which have been way more comfy and haven't irritated my stitches at all. You can get the cottons in boots, I would totally recommend them.

Get your DH to buy you lots of finger food (crudités, nuts berries who am I kidding, lollies, haribo, crisps etc) to eat one handed, TT seems to have a meal detector and always seems to kick off during tea. Plus one handed eating is a must if you are pinned to sofa under baby.

I didn't buy LOADS of nappies beforehand and have taken advantage of the Amazon family subscribe and save which gives you 15% off if you regularly order 5 things for delivery, so I've set it up to get bulk water wipes, burts bees nappy ointment, nappies, plus cat food and litter and it's worked out a lot cheaper. Plus all gets delivered to door!

WilHarlot · 02/07/2015 20:14

Ha love these. Will have Size of a cow stuck in my head now.
Cape Verde Islands sound lovely.

I want to go to Hawaii but it's pricey and takes ages to get there from here as no direct flights.

Jcandy · 02/07/2015 20:26

Cuba is gorgeous! Been there twice, last year was for my sister's wedding, beautiful!

I don't have stds either, can I get a woop?! Smile

Pisghetti · 02/07/2015 20:29

Caught out there by Kelis?

Excellent advice there Tee - especially the finger food. If you're trying to eat anything 'saucy' (pasta/curry etc) while feeding the baby use a spoon. I dropped a huge glob of curry on BabyPis' face through fork prongs and it was a hair's breadth from her eye Shock Sad

honeysucklejasmine · 02/07/2015 20:38

Surely "Torn" by Natalie Imbruglia?

LaLaLaaaa · 02/07/2015 20:50

Size of a cow is already on playlist Grin

Right - cuba or Verde Islands! Just need dh to bring in the mulah now!

Tee great tips! Going to write those down!

Haha Honey, ouch! At least the MWs would think you had a sense of humour. "Help"

I'm forever dropping food on my children. I look at it as karma for the food they will wipe all over your clean jeans in the toddler years.

teejayem · 02/07/2015 21:12

I crumbed Danish pastry all over TT this morning, you're totally right pis - anything saucy is wrought with peril. Ditto anything that requires cutting up, or faffing with.
If you've got spotify, theres quite a lot of labour playlists people have uploaded that you can follow, they vary from comedy to whale music. I did a playlist of songs that reminded me of happy, mellow possibly stoned times, lots of pink floyd, massive attack, John Mayer, etc. I had it playing through the night to get me to epidural.

honeysucklejasmine · 02/07/2015 21:43

So, living the idea of labour playlist. I have an mp3 player, so should be good.

Is anyone else planning on being a lentil weaver using reusable nappies?

Niffertiti · 02/07/2015 22:12

Honey I am, I am! In the country where we will be living, which I named on fb but am not naming here as it would totally out us, I cannot believe they have any sort of waste management systems. I've spent enough time in poor countries to know that plastic really is ruining the world. I just don't think I can add to it. There we go, lentil weaving and morally preachy!

climbs down off high horse

--gets shouty-–

The fucking hospital lost my fucking blood! They told me they'd phone me today if the combined test came back worrying (as I am in above unnamed country next week and therefore not able to do much about it except fret). So when they phoned at 4:30, I nearly lost my shit. Then they asked if I could come in tomorrow cos the lab lost the blood. I already took Monday off this week for scan, only to have it moved to Tuesday. So that's 1 1/2 days out of the office this week. Can't do another half day. Luckily I was wfh today so went there and then and the nice lady waited for me. I'm only 10 mins from hospital and a quick bleeder too...

--tries to calm down-–

JC hoorah for no stds! I'm assuming since they haven't contacted me following booking appt at 7 weeks I also have no stds... But maybe they lost that blood too? Angry

oneyorkshirepud · 02/07/2015 22:19

Oh pants that is rubbish Niff, how annoying.

Did you all know that in the UK they store your booking in blood? I asked to be tested for toxoplasmosis today and the midwife said that was fine, they just go to the creepy big brother blood store lab and test the booking blood. 4 weeks after it was drawn. Weird!

Toast85 · 02/07/2015 22:25

Honey I want to go reusable... I just have no idea how to decide which brand so I'm putting it off. I figured lets get a baby out first, get to grips with feeding, then think about reusable nappies after that.

Ga- argh! What actually happens when lightning hits your house? How do you know?

I had my 25 wk appointment today, all good, heartbeat heard, bump measuring spot on, and bp and wee fine. Bit freaked that now the appointments get closer together that time is going to fly by! And with nct and NHS antenatal classes starting in August and September, weekly yoga class now too, I'm running out of time to do anything else!

Mountain I was on call for second half of my shift today- so tiring and hot walking around the whole hospital. Ours is something like 1/4 mile end to end so when you've done that a few times it all adds up! I don't envy the crash team having to run though...

oneyorkshirepud · 02/07/2015 22:32

Oh my god has anyone else developed ridiculous eczema while pregnant?! I haven't had it properly for years and it has just arrived with a vengeance!! Jesus it is itchy!!!!

Yey for a good appointment Toast!

deeplybaffled · 02/07/2015 22:46

pud - funny you should say that! Mine has flared up for the first time in years, and although the doctor confirmed that i was ok to use the usual steroid creams and drops, it has improved, but not gone away. If you find something that works, please do tell!

honeysucklejasmine · 02/07/2015 23:01

Yay, fellow lentil weavers! Toast our plan is to get rid of the nasty new born poos in disposables, then hire a mixed pack from the local nappy library to see what fits well. DSis has totsbots which are fabulous. But I know they don't fit all babies so don't want to spend ££ to find them leaky round the legs or something. (Although secretly hope we can use them cause I think they're great)

Toast85 · 02/07/2015 23:05

I did a little bit of early research and found we have a local nappy library type scheme too but DH is not keen on the thought of them being already used and pooed in before!

gaggiagirl · 02/07/2015 23:09

toast we knew we had been hit cos the neighbours were out in full force like it was the apocalypse and when it struck my Ariel my mam who was staying over ran into my bedroom in fear!. We had both never heard anything like it. A house not far from me lost its roof last night. I'll find a linky.

gaggiagirl · 02/07/2015 23:12

here its a good story if you like cats AND extreme weather!

honeysucklejasmine · 02/07/2015 23:21

Sometimes the library ones are new. They won't exactly be poo stained. Silly Mr Toast. Wink

LaLaLaaaa · 03/07/2015 03:35

Ga I saw that on the news - 2 houses with roof totally wrecked. Those poor people!

Pud - yes I've been v itchy all the way through and eczema flared up. Having a shower before bed helps as it cools the skin (plus as you get bigger it gets rid of the sweat!) and make sure you get vitamin k (eat a banana every day) and enough iron as deficiency causes restless legs which I found set off the itching at night.

On my pregnancy bedside table I now have:

Gaviscon - the heartburn is a bitch
Saline nasal spray - I had rhinitis well into 20 weeks which has recently returned. You can't use Vicks or any of the normal ones
Tissues - multiple uses - mopping up boob leaks, blowing nose, dealing with my nosebleeds
Savlon - the only thing that stops my itching
E45 - for larger areas
Water bottle - I drink lots!

I've definitely reached a point where I'm starting to be too heavy and tired to move far. I tried to pick the cat up from the bed last night and had to sit down coz I was too tired. I like sun but it was nice to have a cooler day yesterday.

How are you sling ladies doing with using slings at the moment? Is it too hot to do it? I want to use my caboo as much as possible when baby's here. Have bought the newborn insert for the ergo carrier too for dh to use

I'm stating to worry about how one of my cats will cope. He definitely knows something's happening and is getting clingier and clingier just wanting cuddles constantly. He's going to struggle when I can't give him so much attention.

Tee how are yours finding it?

Can't remember who asked about reusables. The environmental impact is actually negligible between the two - there are some interesting articles on it. Weighing up washing/drying time etc

Unfortunately it's not an option for us otherwise I'd try them - we have tiny house and no tumble drier so we would have to have wet nappies hanging all round house which isn't good for baby in terms of damp caused. So we will be in disposables but I'm trying to use Eco ones (once we are established).
