Time passes so quick, I always mean to log on and then with everything going on, a couple of weeks pass. Just had a quick skim through - congratulations LAM on the arrival and you to Lily on your results.

Sorry for all those in the shit sleep club - was experiencing that a couple of weeks ago - waking up every two hours so now when I manage 5 hours straight, seems so much better.

Went to hospital today as haven't been feeling baby move much in past few days and once mid-wives monitored, they did tell me off, albeit very nicely, that next time I had any concerns, should come in straight away and not wait a few days. Dr has also booked me in for a scan tomorrow morning.

It's my last week at work - and can't wait to finish. Not feeling particularly tired like you said Frolic - just trying to find clothes now is annoying so will be great when I don't have to worry about what to wear.

Other half and I have just booked a last minute trip away for this weekend, so looking forward to a bit of relaxation and pampering.

Next week - need to get final bits and pieces sorted including baby carrier etc. and though we haven't exchanged on the house, we are supposed to complete on 8th August so need to start choosing all new furniture, stuff for bathroom renovation and paint colours! Given myself a lot to do!

Hope everyone is keeping well generally otherwise though.

pinkie87 · 21/07/2015 08:17

fanby oh what a gorgeous scan photo!! So clear! I am totally jealous too, as haven't had one since 20 weeks. Baby still measuring big though so who knows, could be another one at some point! Cuddles with the bub were lovely, but my bump did get in the way a bit! Ha!

frolic Best position prior to labour is back to the left I think, means they have less turning to do during labour. Back on the right (which is my one) means they have a longer way to turn so potentially longer labour/stronger contractions! Let's hope not! Lots of ladies have told me it doesn't matter so I'm hopeful it really doesn't. So close to the end of work for you! Bet you can't wait!!

mzzzf ohhh my gosh, it could be the beginning!! Please keep us updated if anything else happens, I have everything crossed for you!

I'm also on the RLT and the EPO, only orally though, not sure I can bring myself to shove anything up the fanjo just yet! Also going to start eating dates when I hit 36 weeks. Studies have shown them to actually help, so I'll crack on with that! The things we do eh?!

Fanby · 21/07/2015 09:28

Gahh sleepy today, I didn't have a nap yesterday and I was full of all the energy last night, reckon I had around 2 hours sleep. I'm still in bed now but wide awake yet too tired to get up. It's going to be a quiet one for me today m'thinks!

Pinkie87: Will you get another scan or are you like Frolic and done now?
I didn't realise that about positioning, tbh i'm sure gravity will play it's part to help!!

PerpetualSummer: Good luck with your scan today! Hope all goes well!

mzzzf: Oooh how are you feeling this morning? Did you get any sleep?? IS IT THE START?!?!
It's me with the platelets! I have this thing called Von Willebrand Disorder or something or other, they found I had it at uni but it's never caused me any issues – i'll definitely steer clear of EPO and perhaps pick up some tea instead...

Frolicacid: How come you don't get another scan? I thought everyone got a 36wk one? How odd!
I'm 36+3 so not that far ahead of you at all! It's going to be so surreal when we've all had our babies!! I think there'll be a mass rush and we all pop together :D

pinkie87 · 21/07/2015 10:50

No fanby I'm same as frolic. 20 week scan is the last one unless there are any issues! Which is good as obviously I have no issues yet but sad I won't see bub again til he's here! I'm measuring big though so if he gets any bigger I may need a growth scan!

Fanby · 21/07/2015 11:05

Ahhh I genuinely didn't know that!! Least it won't be too long now! I can't believe how close it is until we all meet our babies Smile!!

mzzzf · 21/07/2015 11:39

Naaaaaah it wasn't the start of anything, I'm still here and waiting. Although randomly I've woken up this morning with a sore throat Sad. I do not want to actually get a cold now so close to my EDD!

No more niggles so far today.... 39 + 2 and waiting!

We set the Moses basket up in our bedroom which is a bit surreal but it does make me think "argh the little monkey will be in there soon". And yes to asking questions about the sweep etc, I'll be graphically honest Grin. Either way though I'll be meeting our daughter in 10 days (or less!), as I think they'll induce pretty soon if the sweep doesn't work going by what the MW said.

Fanby · 21/07/2015 11:41

Sore throat-get drinking that raspberry leaf tea Wink!
Oh wow!! 10 days or less!!!! Honestly I'm so excited for you!! Have you got a little list of things you want to do before baby gets here? Like selfish things just for you and DP? Like a nice dinner out or pedicure or something?

mzzzf · 21/07/2015 12:05

I probably should have but I don't. I'm so drained that watching trash telly is my limit. This morning, despite an ok-ish sleep, I still fell asleep on the sofa for 1.5hrs about 2hrs after getting up!!! It's ridiculous!

I know labour will take it out of me but I can't wait to not feel like this - fat, swollen, achey. I'm looking forward to just feeling sleep deprived and have a sore fanjo etc Grin. Pregnancy is hard at this end stage. Maybe it's the physio in me but I'm already mentally planning what exercise/stretches I can do post-delivery, super super gentle stuff but I can't wait!

I do think I'll miss feeling the kicks and squirms though, as it's like a secret little language between the two of us.

Really cute photo fanby. Bet it's made u mega excited now.

I only had scan at 36 weeks beca use of low lying placenta otherwise I wouldn't have had another one. Plus had the free 4d one for the trial but again probably wouldn't have bothered otherwise.

Had literally no signal yesterday at the place we were staying. I'm addicted toy phone and being able to communicate with people so I felt like a part of me was missing lol.

I was not comfortable at all yesterday. BP hurt all over and groin hurt. Probably from all the walking we've done. I had been desperate to get to bed because of my swollen feet but then couldn't get comfortable. Last day of the mini holiday today though and back in my own bed tonight. Doubt that will be any comfier though! Currently sat on a tree trunk with a numb bum watching dp skim stones and his nieces and family fishing. Thank good was for mumsnet to keep me occupied. I'm so ready to be at home.

Mzzf thinking of u in these final days of pregnancy. Not long till you'll have your squidgy little baby. Hopefully sooner than later.

Frolic I need to crack open the epo. I tried it whilst ttc but i didn't use it for long as it was too much for me so I've still got a bottle to use up for the other side of things instead. Just need to buy some raspberry leaf capsules. Went shopping the other day and completely forgot to pick some up. Enjoy your last couple of working days. It'll be over before u know it. I'm officially into my first week maternity leave now. Doesn't feel like I've had two weeks off already. I can see this year flying by!

Fanby · 21/07/2015 15:42

I'm so hot today I can't stop sweating…lovely!

Dozy: oh that's so weird, I really thought everyone had that final scan! Sorry to hear you've been uncomfortable – it's even worse when you're not at home in your own comforts! Not long to go now, nearly hometime, then sods law you'll probably wish you were back away!

mzzzf: If it makes you feel any better all i've done today is watch trash TV. I know I need to hoover, do the washing up, put laundry on, clean the bathroom, but I just really can't be arsed. DH phoned me on his lunchbreak about clearing out the kitchen cupboards tonight, he has the nesting bug, I certainly don't!
I've never been a gym bunny but a lot of my friends have all said how much they look forward to exercising post birth – it's hard work growing a person!
I know what you mean about the secret language, it's been lovely just being the two of us. I'm excited (and relieved) to share the responsibility with DH when she's out but at the same time i'm worried I won't want to share her!

Dozygirl · 21/07/2015 18:05

Yeah you're right fanby. I forgot we'd left all the dishes stacked up in sink so I haven't come back to a tidy house lol. Oh well, clothes off, giant nightie on and swollen feet propped up. Cleaning can wait till tomorrow.
Previous post meant to say bump painful not bp lol.

Someone else said that to me today about missing the bump but I don't think that I will. I just want the baby. Shes not a big mover inside so I don't feel like I have that kind of connection with her. Maybe I'll feel differently when she comes and I'll realise i do have a connection.

My little cats happy to have us home anyway. I'm not sure that he's very well but I don't know in what way. He looks a bit skinny. We left him plenty of food but maybe he was lonely so didn't want to eat. Might need a trip to the vets soon. At least with kids I know somethings wrong. Not as good at telling with cats.

Frolicacid · 21/07/2015 21:25

mzzf, all those pains will be doing something to get you closer to full blown labour I'm sure. How exciting that she will definitely be here in 10 days or so.
I'm due a month today, which means I could have another 40+ days of pregnancy. Like you, I can't wait not to feel fat, swollen and achey. I've also got a bit of a sore throat. Can't tell yet if it's a stomach acid or the start of a cold.
Are you still managing to get out and about with the dogs? I took frolicdog out tonight and the pressure in my bum and fanjo walking over uneven ground was very uncomfortable. I think we'll have to stick to the pavements from now on.

Hi perpetual! Glad I'm not alone in struggling to find work clothes that fit. Only two more days and I'll be firmly in joggers or pj's until about October!

Thanks for the positioning info pinkie. I'm convinced my little dude's back is on the left. Will get the midwife to see what she thinks on Monday.
What is it about dates that is supposed to be good? I'm up for trying them.

Glad you've had a nice time away dozy. Nothing beats the feeling of getting back to your own bed. I hope your aches and pains are better after a good rest. And I hope the little kitty is ok.

I hope everyone's had a good day? I'm in a stupidly good mood - probably due to only having two very short days left at work. I really can't wait to mooch around at home for a bit.
I know some of you have mentioned swelling / water retention. I've been fine until the past few days, but am really starting to notice it now. I've had to take my wedding and engagement rings off today Sad. Does anyone know how much is too much? Should I be worried? I'm kind of assuming it's normal at this stage. My poor feet are only a small size 3, so the strong my massive bump puts on them must be huge.

Lilydreams · 21/07/2015 21:57

Frolic- I've not experienced water retention really (yet!) but I know lots of friends who have had to take wedding rings etc off and much earlier too- 6 months ish so I wouldn't worry about that at all!

Thanks to everyone for results cheer!

Mzzf- you've got to be next to have baby surely!

Dozy- I agree I love feeling my boy move and he does a lot but I certainly won't miss my bump! I don't understand how people say that- what part of stretch marks, feeling like my insides are going to fall out, skin feeling like it's going to split, feeling bruised, smacking it into cupboards/ doorways etc when I forget how bloody big it's got, under bump sweat and turning over in bed= a major workout could I possibly miss?!!! Grin

Can't wait to finish work next Wednesday now I'm really starting to struggle sitting at a desk! Work have been great and told me to just do whatever hours I can till I finish so finished at 2.30pm the last 2 days as by that time bump is aching and I need to get home and lie on the bed letting it all hang out for an hour or so- attractive!!

Got our 'new house tour' tommorrow I'm sooooo excited!! 10 days till moving day! Only worry is got midwife right before it so abit worried if she's an idiot again that I'm going to be a mess and not enjoy the house visit so much! That said I've done lots of research to go armed with if she starts being vague and rubbish again and DH coming too to make sure she doesn't bamboozle me into not asking questions again! The more I've read the more I realise she's not done that she should have- looking in nhs website 36 week appointment should have included discussion of vit K injection for bubs and other stuff none of which she has mentioned so gonna call her out on that too!! Wish me luck!!

Frolicacid · 21/07/2015 22:07

Thanks lily.
I totally hear you on the under bump sweat. And the need to let it all hang out after a long day.
Enjoy the house visit. And maybe make a list of things to discuss with your midwife? I hope both go well for you.

Nannynome · 21/07/2015 23:29

Meet Ivy :) she was born today at 2.38pm weighing 8lb 2oz.

I went in to be induced yesterday. At 10pm they broke my waters as I was already 1cm dialated so didn't need a pessary. I needed some gas and air for the waters as my cervix was quite far back.

I had some minor cramping but no real contractions so at 2am they moved me over to the labour ward. They were going to put me on the drip to move labour along so I had my epidural put in before hand.

The epidural was textbook so I had some leg movement, could feel the tightening of the contractions like they were Braxton hicks but no pain.
Whilst progress was slow, Ivy's heartbeat stayed steady and she seemed totally calm the whole way through.

At 2pm they did an internal check and decided I was fully dilated and that it was time to push. I pushed twice with big deep pushes and then twice with small half strength pushes when told. She came out very easily leaving me with only one minor scratch. Everything has been great apart from her ability to sleep lol. She fed on the breast as soon as we had skin to skin and fed for 3 1/2 hrs!!! We left the cord as long as possible before cutting it and had the vitamin K injection. :D

Frolicacid · 22/07/2015 03:51

Congratulations nanny! She is beautiful. Thank you for sharing your lovely, positive birth story as well. Enjoy the snuggles Flowers

Can I come back to the shit sleep club please ladies? It's not going well here tonight. I've a very sore throat and can't get comfy at all.

Lilydreams · 22/07/2015 07:48

Congrats nanny!!! Is that 3 babies we're up to now! So exciting she's gorgeous too!

Frolic- good idea about making a list think I will do just that! Sorry your back in the shit sleep club it sucks doesn't it! After paranoidly sleeping solely on my left side for the last week after reading something about it aiding with optimal baby positioning I finally gave in last night after waking up after only an hour asleep with my left hip killing and allowed myself to sleep on the right- managed 1250 to 0430!! Longest continuous sleep I've had in a long time! Hope you're not too tired today!

pinkie87 · 22/07/2015 08:26

Followed your live birth updates on the FB group nanny, but so glad you came and shared here too! Congratulations again on your beautiful girl, sounds like a pretty perfect induction by all accounts!

Dozy enjoy being back at home with your home comforts! hope kitty is a bit better. I have cats too so know how stressful it can be when they're not well and you don't know why! It usually ends up being expensive too! Fingers crossed he just missed you and will perk up.

Frolic the dreaded swollen ankles caught me yesterday! Warm day and on my feet at work most of the day so it was cankle city by 5pm! I took my rings off a few weeks ago when it was really hot just in case they got stuck! Let me just find that link on dates.... www.bellybelly.com.au/birth/how-to-bring-on-labour-naturally/ It's number 13 on the list!

lily I know how you feel about work! It's getting tough! I'm still 9-5 and mad busy but the end is in sight now. Next Friday for me! Hope midwife goes well and doesn't stress you out before the house tour. Good on you for bringing DH and being super prepared, let us know how it goes.

Another crap night's sleep. DH has bought me some dextrose tablets to get through work without being a complete zombie but I reckon taking them will make baby go mental! will see how I feel.

mzzzf · 22/07/2015 10:09

Woohoo! Another baby - congrats Nanny. And thank you for the positive birth story, sooooo good to hear Grin!!

Nothing exciting to report this end, feel like I am constant watch and wait! Although last night I did get a weird stinging feeling in my fanjo, maybe my cervix is dilating?! Not got it this morning, or anything else. Come on baby girl!!!!

I'm still managing a dog walk, but only little ones. I can handle about 20mins but they're not continuous walking. I'm very happy to let the pups sniff everything and anything they want if it means having a breather Smile. I feel for them though as our alpha dog really does need a good run out, I feel guilty that they might be bored all day by my waddling, nap taking self!

Re the swollen feet, I've been being a good physio and strapping my feet and ankles with compression dressings to get these mo'fos down to a reasonable size and so far it seems to be working! With the swelling you only need to worry if it becomes something called a pitting oedema. Easiest way to tell this is to have a prod on the swollen bits and if the bit you prodded takes FOREVER to return to pre-prod colour, shape etc then you need to call the MW as it can be a sign of pre-eclampsia.

sianihedgehog · 22/07/2015 11:35

Wow, more babies arriving, congratulations Nanny!

Glad to hear that I'm not the only one slowing down here, it's now taking me almost an hour to walk a mile Blush. And yesterday all of a sudden , I got stretch marks. Sometime between getting dressed and bedtime my enormous blimp of a belly broke out in tiger stripes! My cousin says she could actually see them appearing when her baby did a big stretch or kick at this stage , and mine was having a really good thrash!

Lily and Pinkie I so feel you on the countdown at work. I'm finishing next Wednesday too and it cannot come soon enough. Sitting at a desk is absolutely crippling now, I can't breathe properly with the bump all squished up!
My lovely friends had a baby shower for me and my other half on Sunday. It was absolutely wonderful, we had a massive picnic in a nice park (I brought a folding chair! ), with cake and snacks and LOADS of my friends came, I even had friends from Scotland down visiting so they could come, too. One of my younger mates was still off his tits from the night before when he showed up which kind of pissed me off, but another friend noticed and looked after him then took him home.
Had a minor scare on Sunday night - got woken up by properly strong contractions coming every 5-10 minutes and thought I might have to wake the whole house up, but they just stopped again after an hour or so and I went back to sleep! Thank god for that, I'm not ready yet ! Anyone else getting any of that sort of thing ?

Fanby · 22/07/2015 11:56

Afternoon ladies and bumps (and BABIES! :)). Just had my last pregnancy yoga class with my normal teacher as she's not back from holiday until my EDD! Nothing planned for the rest of the afternoon – except eating, I am insatiably hungry today!

Sianihedgehog: Ahh you're baby shower sounds lovely (bar the one friend)! I'm so glad you had a great time and your friends spoilt you rotten!
I'm super slow now at walking too! DH has finally accepted this and we do give ourselves a lot longer to get from A to B! Haven't had any of those strong contractions at all, to be honest wish things would speed up now, i'm only 36+4 but ready for this baby to come on out!

Nannynome: Congratulations on here too! She's such a beauty! I'm in love with those cheeks! Your birth sounds amazing, and you stayed so calm, we all loved your updates on FB – massive well dones to you!

Lilydreams: How did the midwife go today? Was it a better appointment? Good for you for doing your research!! I hope the new house tour was exciting and everything is nearly finished so you stick to your date!

Frolicacid: Of course you can come back!! I slept on and off last night, mainly due to every turn I then needed to get up and wee, grr! Did you manage to get any sleep in the end?
I'm jealous you've taken your rings off. I literally can't budge mine. They can still twist, just about, so I know they're not overly tight but I don't want to have them cut off :(

Dozygirl: How's your cat today? Brightened up at all now he knows you're home?

pinkie87 · 22/07/2015 12:55

siani the stretchmarks have started for me too! :( I thought I was doing so well. They are mainly around my belly button, and all quite silvery. No huge purple ones as yet but there's plenty of time for that! Glad you had a lovely baby shower! I can't wait for mine, it's rare to get all my friends and family in one place so it should be nice! Also, no contractions/braxton hicks/ANYTHING of the sort for me. I reckon he's in there for the long haul. I still have a couple of weeks until I'm term anyway, so no hurry I spose!

fanby the past two days I've been absolutely ravenous! I feel maybe it's a growth spurt or something (for the baby, but also for my huge bum!). Also feeling like I'm peeing every 5 minutes now, it's great fun! Try and get your rings off if you can, the string trick is meant to be good!

Dozygirl · 22/07/2015 13:40

I don't wear rings so I can't tell if my fingers are swollen or not. Something they look a little bit but nowhere near as bad as my feet. I've been lucky so far re: stretch marks but I know they can arrive at any time even the day u give birth so I'm still being cautious. I always overly examine any crease mark I get in my skin in case it's a stretch mark.

Cat is being his usual clingy self but he definitely looks skinny. I've wormed him and given flea treatment in case it's that but really i think a trip to the vets is probably needed. It's going to cost a fortune though :( my other cat was poorly last year and he eventually died and it cost so much for every little test he had done. I don't begrudge paying it, it's just with maternity leave starting I won't have much money now. He does like to eat birds and mice so he could have eaten something dodgy I suppose. He's only 5.

Midwife this afternoon. Not that I'll learn anything today, I always feel rushed in and rushed out. I suppose I have nothing to report though. Had quite a painful part at top of bump this morning but that was probably baby pushing a foot up there or something.

Dp asked me last night why I sit and play on my phone at night when it's bed time....explained its because an hour after going to bed I need a wee so I may as well stay awake till I've had that second wee than go to sleep and struggle to get back to sleep. And then right on cue an hour later i needed a wee lol. Think he should start sleeping in spare room so I can do what I want and roll around as much as I want without disturbing him. Still have to get up a few more times for wees as well. I hope I get my bladder back after this!

Fanby · 22/07/2015 13:42

I have the purple stretch marks under my boobs - none on tummy...SO FAR!
When's your baby shower Pinkie? Do you have long to wait? It's always so lovely to get all your loved ones under one roof for a special occasion!

I did try the string thing a couple of weekends ago (that's how long i've been trying to budge them!!) but I couldn't get it to work, i'm going home to visit my parents next Monday so hopefully mum or dad can help :) - still need them lol :D x
