Anybody else out there??! Just got my faint BFP on a first response test! Only 9DPO so shouldn't really have tested - I told myself I wouldn't till I missed my period! - but was just feeling very pregnant. My due date is showing as 1st March. This would be number 2 for me, I already have a little girl, 20 months. Only symptoms so far are very sore boobs and a snuffy nose first thing in the morning!

Hi new guys - I've spent my weekend watching dp do the garden, it's been bliss - no digging or painting for me because he won't let me Grin
will be 5 weeks Tuesday for me, starting to worry a bit and thinking of booking in for a private early 9 week scan if midwife won't let me. They should though - 2 blood transfusions and a week in hospital when I had my mmc I think means I should be allowed an early scan.

Wonkyparsnip · 12/07/2015 15:25

Hi everyone can I tentatively join? I'm 6 days late. (Never happened before) Been ttc for a year. Waiting to test tomorrow when my Dh returns from a holiday with pregnancy tests (I live somewhere you can't buy them).

Am crossing everything as I've found ttc very emotionally upsetting. Already have a 2 year old and I'd love them to have a sister or brother.

Snowberry86 · 12/07/2015 15:30

I think I'm going to have a private 8/9 week scan, I know there won't be much to see but I just don't think I can wait until 12 weeks with how long it has taken to conceive and how anxious I am!

Herewegoagain31 · 12/07/2015 16:05

Hi wonky and big congrats - I found TTC very emotionally upsetting too and I wasn't trying as long as you so I can only imagine how hard it was. Keeping fingers crossed for you for a positive test to confirm it when your DH returns!

we'd been ttc for 16 months before I got my bfp last weekend! I'd begun to resign myself to the idea that we'd need IVF but in my area the doctor won't refer you until you've been trying for 18 months unless you are 35+. It was such a lovely surprise! I'm having a private scan at 8+1 as I can't wait until 12 for the nhs one. The days just seem to be going by agonisingly slow!

Brindler · 12/07/2015 18:07

Congrats everyone! I'm also thinking of getting an early scan around the 8 week mark. Can't imagine waiting til 12 weeks - god knows how I did it with dd!

ThursdayLast · 12/07/2015 19:33

Fingers crossed for you wonky

I'm desperate to buy myself an ICandy peach - hmmm, reckon if I say it's for my (2yo) DS it makes it not a jinx???

shieldbug · 12/07/2015 19:56

Welcome to all the newbies, we definitely are a filling-up bus (but still room for more...). It's wonderful to hear of lots of you conceiving after lots of ttc. Wishing you all fantastic pgs.

Well, thanks to my fibroids giving me a bump already, I was asked at church today how far on I was (the answer is 6+0), but I was soooo mortified I just said "sshh, we aren't telling anyone yet" and embarrassed her in turn. Now feel guilty, but after a mc last time I really want to limit the number of people who know. As you will know, Embolio, in NI, news travels REALLY fast. Last time, the last straw was being greeted by my bil's ex, with congratulations. How did she know? Then after the mc, she's just another person who has to find out. Unfortunately if people are guessing already, the cat may already be leaping out of the proverbial and scampering along the grapevine...gah!

purplecat27 · 12/07/2015 19:57

Welcome and congratulations to all of the news! Fingers crossed for a BFP for you Wonky.

I'm booked in for a private early scan on 21st when I'll be 8+2, I'm counting down the days!

I've been struggling a little with the nausea, I'm eating mostly carbs, soup and whatever raw fruit or veg I feel like I can eat. Today cucumber and sugar snap peas, meaning I'm only getting around 2 portions of fruit/veg a day at the minute which I feel quite sad about. I also can't stomach my omega oil, bleurgh!

I just had a strong urge to order a chicken korma, which is strange because I don't eat meat. Do you guys think that could be a pregnancy craving? This is my first pregnancy so I have no idea what to expect from cravings or when they start?

Kittykitty05 · 12/07/2015 19:59

I'm wondering about 8 week scan. As I'm under a consultant (following late loss), he'd normally start monitoring with a scan at 8 weeks, then 10 weeks with Harmony, but due to his hols and ours, we could only book the second part, at nearly 11 weeks. Do I see if someone else at the hospital can do an 8 week one, or just wait it out? Even previous miscarriages have all been after 8 weeks so I'm not sure how reassuring it'd actually be...

LaraNotCroft22 · 12/07/2015 20:09

I'm another paying privately for an eight week scan. I have one on the 22nd (my birthday) at 8+1. Hoping it will be a good birthday present.

I hope you get your bfp wonky, fingers firmly crossed for you.

How much does a private scan cost?

Mrsrsw · 12/07/2015 20:15

I was contemplating an early scan but I don't know what happens if there's anything "wrong" - I think I'd prefer to have it at the hospital as opposed to private but I'm not sure I can wait another 6 weeks! Confused

Herewegoagain31 · 12/07/2015 20:16

I think about £90 thursday although depending what area you are in there are often deals on

Thanks Here Smile
bit steep for me, I think I'd rather just assume I don't need one!

BeautifulLiar · 12/07/2015 20:38

I had scans at about 6-7 weeks with my second and third babies.

I could see a blob with a heartbeat, but it was beautiful! He told us due date too, which was confirmed at the 12 week scan.

This time... I'm going to try to make it until 12 weeks! DH is going to work away tomorrow anyway :(

Actually I'm a bit worried about that... I've got a horrible feeling he'll have to work away when it's the scan date. I'd be gutted. Would I just go on my own?? I'd feel rubbish. But the friend I've told I'm pregnant will be on holiday so wouldn't be able to go with me... and I don't really want to tell anyone else!!

purplecat27 · 12/07/2015 20:41

Mine is costing £50 Thursday, and includes 4 pictures.

I'm having mine at a hospital rather than at a private clinic in the community, but paying as a private patient. I'm not sure if everywhere does this but might be worth asking at your local hospital Mrs if that's what you'd prefer.

Waves to all newbies! ????????

JoannaZZ · 12/07/2015 22:39

purplecat, I normally don't eat much meat (maybe once a week) but now that I'm pregnant I want meat almost every day! I think some cravings are just our bodies telling us we need certain nutrients.

I'm doing my private 8-week scan here in Germany for €100. There are probably cheaper places but I want it in English so not much choice...

Embolio · 12/07/2015 22:48

Welcome and congratulations to all the new joinees (hmm is that a word?)

Thinking about an early scan too but I'm not sure if it would reassure me or not - I'd probably keep fretting til 12 week scan! It's expensive here too - we're a captive audience in NI, and it's about £99 - ouch. DH says I can get one if I want, a bit loathe to spend the cash though.
Not much in the way of symptoms, just sore boobs and tiredness - 5+2 today so it's early days.

shieldbug how annoying re woman at church! I never understand people that ask if you're pregnant, I mean imagine if you hadn't been! DH went out last night and I had to forbid him from telling his best friend because he's such a gossip, it'd be round the town in no time!

Fingers crossed for a positive test wonky Smile

shieldbug · 12/07/2015 23:03

Good luck for tomorrow "wonky"

purplecat27 · 12/07/2015 23:24

Eight I do have a Nutribullet, my usual breakfast is a smoothie (or Nutriblast!) with a grapefruit as the main ingredient. Unfortunately yesterday mornings attempt at a smoothie resulted in retching over my mop bucket Sad. I could perhaps try some less flavoursome fruit and veg though.

The price for private scans seems to vary so much by where you live!

Snowberry86 · 13/07/2015 02:16

My 8 year old cousin nearly outed me yesterday asking why I had a pregnancy app on my phone after going through all my folders!

Managed to spin a story about it being part of the health function of an iPhone 6 and it being included already in the phone!

Embolio · 13/07/2015 07:36

Haha, quick thinking and good recovery snowberry!

Kids up since half 5 this morning, feeling very tired and grumpy.

purplecat my friend has been veggie for 20 years and craved meat when pregnant. She couldn't bring herself to eat it but did eat some fish from time to time in case it was a nutrient she needed or something.
