I just don't want to buy anything at all until 12 week scan. I might get some maternity leggings though to go under some of the bigger dresses I have. I can't cope with tights anymore.

Joey0805 · 16/06/2015 13:36

I'm still in all my normal clothes (10+6) and think I will be for a few more weeks. Not wearing some of my tightest work dresses as I think they make me look fat (due to the gross bloat...) and I really ought up my bra size but I've not gotten round to it yet.

Kep - I slept loads on the flight, woke up this morning with no nausea and managed an hour run - the US is agreeing with me so far...

Re scans - I had the viability scan because I was going to Brazil at 7+2 and wanted to be sure it wasn't ectopic as it can be really bad if that goes undiagnosed... As for Harmony, I totally respect everyone's decision on what they'd do if abnormalities were found, but for DH and I, we know categorically we would not continue with the pregnancy. We get Harmony results at 13 weeks which is before we'd have told anyone (and before anyone could see) that I'm pregnant so the world doesn't have to know. If you go down the amnio / CVS route it takes much longer. Anyway, that was our thinking for whoever asked!

Hope you all start to feel better soon...for what it's worth at1-0+6 now I do think I'm starting to feel a bit more human, at last!

OTheHugeManatee · 16/06/2015 13:37

I didn't want to buy anything before the 12 week scan either! I just don't have a choice as none of my blimming clothes fit HmmGrin

I felt the same OTheHugeManatee, but none if my leggings we're comfy any more, my jeans are too tight and making me feel sick and I can't even think about tights. I have 2 pairs of cheap maternity tights from asda on rotation! One in the wash, one I'm wearing!

mrschatty · 16/06/2015 13:45

Hello everyone :) I'm feeling much better today and yesterday it's really just when my blood sugar drops that I get unbearable gagging and nausea now hopefully coming out the other end. Can't stop peeing and found it v difficult to sleep last night but I think I'm turning a corner!
Any scan updates anyone who had one today?? I have booking in on Thursday yaaay :) just had prawns again oh yum

TeenieDeenie · 16/06/2015 13:53

Hi all! So, so happy and relieved to report back from our early scan. Yep definitely a baby in there this time, a little wriggly with a strong heartbeat measuring 7+5. It was even moving about which I couldn't believe!!! My guess had been 8 weeks so midwife said we're measuring correct size for what we thought. Me and OH were a nervous wreck in the waiting room. Midwife was so nice though and even got a wee scan pic... doesn't show much but we know what it is ha ha!

kep1979 · 16/06/2015 14:05

teenie that is such lovely news Smile Really happy for you.

I wasn't going to buy anything maternity until after 12 weeks but my clothes are all rapidly shrinking! I have a scan on Monday morning so going to wait until after then, and then order some mat jeans, work trews and pjs as all are uncomfortably too small.

kep1979 · 16/06/2015 14:06

And joey i am very jealous Grin

brickiemum2 · 16/06/2015 14:32

Just got home from work to a letter telling me I have gbs and will need antibiotics in labour. Great. That and the planned induction date due to pih are just filling me with anticipation Hmm

And I've "popped", apparently 3 people at work are questioning whether I'm pregnant.

Readyforthefuture · 16/06/2015 14:34

Congrats to everyone on scans etc, feels like we're starting to get towards that big milestone now!

I just flew back from hols, 9 hour flight throwing up regularly with no sleep... I feel like the living dead. Not sure how I'm going to cope with work tomorrow. My week long reprieve from feeling like crap is well and truly over, now throwing up every evening around 7pm, can't abide the smell of strong food or eggs (whoever was asking), so tired I've been sleeping around 13/14 hours a day recently (gone are those days now I'm rejoining the real world).

Booking in is tomorrow evening, no scan date yet, but I feel pregnant still and hoping both little ones are still there.

kep congrats on the house, that must be a load off!

joey I feel your pain on the travel front, hope it eases a bit. I also travel quite a bit internationally for work, have you given any thought to how long you'll do this into the pregnancy?

oneconfusedchick · 16/06/2015 14:36

I'm on antibiotics now for a UTI. Have to take 3 times a day lovely!! I think I am one of the lucky people who don't get UTI symptons though so it has not been too bad for me. I am curious to see what my 12 week scan says - its not till 12th July but I am pretty sure I am not 8+2 as my LMP shows but more 7 weeks.

Juniper44 · 16/06/2015 14:43

Brickie it's not too bad. Some hospitals will still let you give birth in the maternity suite / in the pool etc. Best asking them what the limitations will be.
You need the antibiotic shot 4 hours before you give birth, so you can still move around quite a lot.

Pugmumlondon · 16/06/2015 15:12

Hahahahaha Oyster. That's brilliant.

I'm convinced everyone is looking at my stomach.

Tonicandgin · 16/06/2015 15:16

This thread moves fast! I lost you allWink

Symptoms slowed again today, this happened last week and I worried, then the next day I felt like hell and wished I'd enjoyed feeling better.

Booking apt tomorrow but need to go into work first so I'll end up taking my wee to work!!!

I'll get my scan date too, which I'm looking forward to.

Holiday next week, 2.5 hrs on a plane with a toddler and morning sickness. I'll need some luck!

OTheHugeManatee · 16/06/2015 15:37

Tonic Same here - the nausea has never been that bad for me, and sometimes now it's barely noticeable. So of course then I worry myself sick, and then wish I'd just enjoyed feeling OK when it comes back again Hmm

Pugmumlondon · 16/06/2015 15:46

Definitely feeling better this afternoon though. Has anyone else got it much worse in the morning only? Thought I was going to keel over on the tube.

When is it acceptable to start brandishing the dreaded badge?!

Jealous of all the scans and booking appts! I can't wait for an 'official' appointment!

Juniper44 · 16/06/2015 15:51

Wear the badge Pug! This is one of the hardest parts of pregnancy, and you need that seat far more than most!

Tonicandgin · 16/06/2015 15:56

Mine is worse in the afternoon/dinner time. Means I eat a lot of stodge for main meal.

Except for brushing my teeth first thing. That's hideous...

Joey0805 · 16/06/2015 15:58

Ready - I'm going to be flying until BA tell me I can't (32/34 weeksish?) unless I have a medical issue come up that means I can't... It's such an integral part of my job, not travelling would be pretty tough on the rest of my team.

Pug - I don't want to wear the badge until work colleagues know as it would be so awful to bump into someone who didn't already know. I have asked twice now for someone to give me a seat when I've felt particularly bad and I've said I'm pregnant and have horrible morning sickness, both times people we're so happy to give me their seat (I must have looked like shit haha)

Lookingforadvice123 · 16/06/2015 16:12

Great news teenie, love seeing everyone's scan updates!

sleepy I'm having my highlights done this week at 11+3, was going to wait until 12 weeks but my hairdresser's on hol then and she said if you're not having all over colour it's fine. Tbh the NHS website only says some women may wish to wait until 12 weeks, but I doubt there's any evidence that shows its bad? Dye it if it makes you feel better, can't wait until at least my hair looks better!

Feeling anxious today, not sure why think I must have had anxious dreams. I shouldn't worry after my early scans plus how gross I've been feeling, although I do feel a bit better today, I seem to have one day of feeling ok every third day weirdly!

BeeMyBaby · 16/06/2015 16:19

So I broke and booked myself an early scan for Friday, however it was 50% off (abc4d clinic in Scotland) so is only £50 which is ok since DH and I are both quite nervous about DC3, far more than we were about my other two pregnancies.

Question- those with DCs- when are you going to tell them? On the one hand they will most likely come to every scan so it's difficult to hide but on the other hand if something goes wrong they won't understand and will likely get very upset.

EdgarAllenPoe · 16/06/2015 16:21

I'm nearly 10 and a half weeks and still no contact from the midwifery service, so I'm going to bite the bullet and ring my gp. Firstly to check if they've actually forwarded on my details (notified them over 5 weeks ago), secondly to have a bit of a whinge. I don't mind not seeing anyone until week 11 or whatever (I'm not too anxious about anything), but I at least would like to know when the appointment is. I have a life and a job and other commitments, why should I have to rearrange stuff for a routine appointment that could have been scheduled weeks ago? Winds me right up.

I didn't want to be that whiny first-timer who doesn't understand the system and gets a little too fraught, but oh well, needs must.

fishermanswife1 · 16/06/2015 16:30

Totally agree Poe. I don't think you're whiny, more like realistic about what to expect and requirements to inform employers if you need to take time for appointments.

It may well be that there is a backlog, but reading about others on here, missed communication can happen so worth double checking. My MW said scan dates should always be given with a weeks notice in case they need to be rearranged. Hope you get some answers!

Pugmumlondon · 16/06/2015 16:58

joey thank you! I feel validated now. I agree that I really can't wear it publicly I don't think until it's public but I won't feel so bad about asking to sit down now. My tube journey home is awful. I'm impressed At the commitment to travelling. The tube kills me!

poe I'm so with you. I'm going to ring on Friday if I haven't got my Appt letter through Hmm and I only referred myself in last week... The NHS is fantastic (I work in it and am proud) but sometimes you do need to give people a polite nudge!

bee I'm a first timer so the only other dependent to break it to is our dog....

fishermanswife1 · 16/06/2015 17:07

That made me laugh pug. First timer here too, but [spoilt] dog and cat are in for a surprise!

Actually, I'm aware this sounds nuts, but I think the dog knows! Ok, maybe not knows exactly, but he's acting so differently. Super protective, and God forbid another man try to enter the house when I'm on my own. The posty used to have a play and fuss in the garden, now he gets barked at and growling, which the dog absolutely never did before. He also never came up on sofa (isn't really allowed), but if anyone else is in the house, he's straight up with his head on my lap watching everyone/thing.
Anyone else have oddball pets?
