Is everyone having their nuchal scan / test with their 12w scan or separately? And did you have to check? My 12w scan is literally on day 12+6 so it's the last date I could have it but it's not mentioned in the letter and my booking appt isn't till 2 days later. Do you think I should ring and check that it will be done as part and parcel as if not then I will need another appt within the next 3 weeks to do it....???

I'd check Pug. I have my booking in appointment in a week and have to tell them what tests I want then and they'll book me in for the scan and nt test.

Thanks oyster so annoying that my booking appt is after my scan - what's that about?!?

Will ring on mon and ask them to either arrange for it to be included or bring forward my booking appt so that they can arrange directly.

im freaking out here! ... i had a bleed & spotting when my last period should have been due.. i should have been due my period around this time again and i got really light brown spotting again.. did/does anyone else get this !?!? im panicking.. any suggestions what i should do!?

Hi Martin - lots of people have spotting throughout etc, I had both a spontaneous (bright red in the middle of the night) bleed and daily spotting since before I found out I was pregnant. When I had the bleed I got a referral to EPU and had a scan. They said it was normal for me but given how anxious I was I would recommend contacting your local EPU tomorrow and seeing if you can get a scan on Monday or tomorrow. It will provide much needed reassurance or an early indication if something (hopefully it won't) is wrong.

General rule of thumb - low level spotting, without increase and no change in level of cramping (if having any - I was having them from before my test) then likely ok but worth getting it checked.

Spotting or bleeding, increasing in volume, red and clotting with pain - not necessarily good sign but again, worth getting checked.

No it shouldn't but if they can't see you tomorrow then get an urgent gp appt on mon am, explain your symptoms and insist on them referring you to your local EPU. My GP offered without my requesting and I was seen in EPU an hour later - despite my floods of tears upon arrival - and they were fantastic.

Explain what's going on - 1st pregnancy, unexplained bleeding, highly anxious and in first trimester.

well this only started 10mins ago! ill stick a pad on and keep an eye on it.. i have no cramping atall so i guess that's a good sign!?.. thanks so much for responding so quick its so reassuring! x

Fingers crossed for you lovely. Mine happened two days after my bfp and I was beside myself so I totally get how you feel.

Just keep an eye on it - it's not a hard and fast rule but try and stay calm. I now know it's normal for me, and if it turns out as normal for you then you will avoid further anxiety in the future.

Hi, can I join in too. I'm 25, I have one ds 19 months old. My due date is 21st jan so I'm 9 weeks 2 days. I had an early scan at 8 weeks and saw the little beans heart beating away :D. Love the support these groups offer! :)

i was thinking it could possibly happen after last time and i told myself it would so i was prepared.. ive even said it to dp while shopping yesterday! but now its actually happened i panic.. i LOVE this thread!

Thanks missmartin, also I have heard spotting around the time your period is due is common. I had it with ds and was worried sick, in the end I got a scan in epau and he was fine! Fx for you all is okay, I know it's a very worrying time x

Martin fx all is ok. I've had bleeding and spotting for the last 4 weeks on and off so I know how worried you will be. Contact your EPU to get reassurance. They are very used to anxious mums to be and are great at calming the situation down.

I've already been given two scans due to unexplained bleeding and all seems ok. It's not normal for my pregnancies so I thought the worst the first time it happened.

missmartin I had some brown spotting at 8+3 which was very light but lasted for over 24 hours off and on, and as my scan showed no problems that could've caused it I've put it down to it being round the time my period would've been due! I'm 12 weeks Monday so like you were I'm worried it'll happen again as it'll be four weeks later! I've told myself not to panic if it does as it wasn't caused by anything bad last time but I know I'll still freak out. Such a worrying time xx

Oh and a fun new symptom I've had for the last few days - horrendous sour taste in my mouth ALL THE TIME, no matter how much water I drink or if I've just brushed my teeth. Anyone have this? It's not a metallic taste like I've heard of, just a really vile sour taste. Just when the nausea is starting to die down, this happens!

yokyil I get that crampy ache quite often, especially in my lower back/pelvis.

Argh my kids are still sick. Will have to take them to the gp tomorrow. Bloody winter colds.

I've had a grump this morning as we had unexpected visitors (before I'd showered!). Am also cross that the house was a mess and DH is not helping to tidy at all atm, even though he knows I've been feeling shite and feel ill at the smell of cleaning products etc.

A friend guessed that I'm pregnant and now I'm feeling anxious that more people know before I've had harmony results and 12 week scan.

Looking, I've got that awful taste. It weird, isn't it? Definitely not metallic. Just sour and wrong! I tend to get it worse when I've eaten. It doesn't even matter what I've eaten, it's just there!

Morning all, I need some advice please! Thursday afternoon I was bleeding for maybe a couple of hours- bright red/pink, thin, covered loo roll (sorry if tmi!) then a tiny bit of brown spotting then nothing. This morning at 1am same bright blood, still thin but a clot and enough to colour the loo water. Now nothing again. After the first time the midwife said to go to a&e if it carried on and I was worried but not sure if I'm massively overreacting??? No pain with it. But scans not til 9th. Do I have faith or go and sit in A&e for the day???

Can your gp refer you to epu so you can have a scan? Probably nothing but you should get checked.

I have the sour mouth taste too. Bleugh.
