Can anyone recommend a scanning company? There's babyscanning up here, a bit of a travel away but worth it - or there's baby care scanning which is nearer to us. Although the price difference is massive between the two! Just wondered if anyone has had any experience of either?

haquoi123 · 05/06/2015 11:07

Thanks teenie for the stats update! I'm 26, early scan 10th june

loveulotslikejellytots · 05/06/2015 11:15

Not doing too well with the nausea today moonshine Hmm. Our office is so bloody hot, the tight fuckers will only put the air conditioning on for 10 minutes here and there. It's making me feel 10 times worse. Trying to drink lots but that's counterproductive because then I need to wee!

I will pop home for lunch though and sit in the garden with a nice lolly!

mrschatty · 05/06/2015 11:21

That's great teenie it's a full time job those stats xx

mrschatty · 05/06/2015 11:22

I'm feeling horrible today thank goodness I'm off... don't think I can face the afternoon put sipping fake cocktails and now I'm pleased I sold my concert ticker for today I'd be useless there today xx

loveulotslikejellytots · 05/06/2015 11:47

I was going to start another thread but I thought I could just ask on here! Has anyone got any suggestions of nice places in England for a long weekend away? We want a little holiday before baby comes, but I don't fancy going abroad (flying, uncomfortableness, heat etc. just not for me right now). We live in Kent, can drive, dog friendly a bonus but we were thinking of leaving him with the in laws! Any suggestions?

OTheHugeManatee · 05/06/2015 11:53

loveulots It depends what you like as a couple. But DH and I LOVE Suffolk for quiet, dog friendly UK holidays. We've stayed in Aldeburgh a few times - there's some good restaurants, a bit of shopping and a pretty pebbly beach. The downside for you would be no dogs on the beach there during the summer. This year though we stayed in Orford, just down the road from Aldeburgh, and LOVED it. It's a very quiet little town but with fabulous food (poncy bakery, well stocked village shop, one very good restaurant and 3 solid quality pubs) and pretty walks along the Alde estuary. It's super quiet and pretty and relaxing.

loveulotslikejellytots · 05/06/2015 11:58

Will look at that later OtheHugeManatee, thanks! It sounds good. Like I said, we might send the dog for a holiday at the in laws anyway, so not essential he can come!

Morning all. Well I am still full of cold and feeling sorry for myself. Nausea seems to be the same, so I do think the bands have helped a bit. Food is still an issue, but as long as I don't stray from cheese, potatoes and tomatoes then I'm keeping everything down. My vitamin tabs nearly sent me over the edge yesterday though. I'm trying different times of the day but 'cause I have to chew them it remains a struggle. Am giving the omegas a rest for a few days as the thought of them is making me queasy, so managing avocado instead with some seeds.

Looking forward to doing not a lot this weekend. May go car shopping as dh desperately needs a new car (I had new one last year) but having to wait until we've completed on house. He really wants an Audi TT, but practically I don't think it is sensible. He would only use it when I'm not that, and for doing school run, so my 10 yr old would be in front and 8 yr old in back, but I am not convinced a baby seat could fit. Dh is also 6'3'', so the seat behind him I reckon would have zero leg room, and even baby seat wouldn't fit. I have a big Volvo 4x4 so think we should be OK getting a car seat in and my two lanky boys.

kep1979 · 05/06/2015 12:13

loveulots I love Devon and Cornwall - Padstow is lovely and so is Watergate Bay, and Dartmoor is beautiful. We are down there next weekend as some of dh's family are having a big family knees up - hoping nobody notices I am not drinking! Also we go to Wales loads, as dh's grandparents have a caravan in the Dovey Valley - Aberdovey is great and very dog friendly. Our dog loves Aberdovey beach.

mrsfazruns · 05/06/2015 12:27

I agree with kep cornwall is my favourite place in the UK .... Hoping to get down a couple of times over the summer!! Watergate and padstow are beautiful as is crantock beach!! I'm just gutted I won't be doing any surfing this year!!! X

moonshine25 · 05/06/2015 12:30

What about the Lake District loveyoulots? Really beautiful and I'm sure you'd be able to find a dog friendly b&b if you decide to take pooch with you. May be a fair drive for you though (my geography is shocking! Haha)

My nausea seems to have switched from morning to evening all of a sudden - strange! However still can't brush my teeth on a morning without gagging uncontrollably - I've learnt that brushing them before breakfast is a must though!

loveulotslikejellytots · 05/06/2015 12:30

We've been to Tintagel a couple of times, it's beautiful. I think price might keep us out of Cornwall unfortunately. DH has set leave allocated to him, he's got 12th July - 22nd. All I've looked at for Cornwall seems to be either booked up already or £££. But I'll have a look at the places you've recommended kep, thanks!

loveulotslikejellytots · 05/06/2015 12:32

That's another one, thanks moonshine!

That evening sickness sounds awful. Mine is worst at around 3 ish and then goes, I really look forward to dinner! I couldn't imagine it going on all night Hmm

moonshine25 · 05/06/2015 12:32

Kep I'm the same as you, all I want is potatoes and cheese at the moment!! I'm treating myself to fish and chips tonight because apparently it's national fish and chip day! As if I or blueberry need an excuse though (apparently baby is the size of a blueberry this week!)

moonshine25 · 05/06/2015 12:35

Looking on the bright side it's making me snack less!

Keswick and around Lake Windermere are really lovely places if you do look at the Lakes - there's also this really cool pottery place near Keswick where you can make your own pots, not sure if that's something that would interest you but we found it fun.

mrsfazruns · 05/06/2015 13:02

I know this might sound random but around sheffield is lovely!! Just a short drive in any direction has you out in the country!! Me and DH have visited underground caves, walks in the country .... Too much to list but it is beautiful!! Google the Devils arse .... I though DH was taking the mick but it's stunning x

Hopefulnewbie · 05/06/2015 13:14

ladies, mind if I join you? a bit late in I know Blush

im 28, this is my first and EDD is 21st Jan so that makes me 7+1
from 5 weeks I was struggling with nausea and just feeling rubbish throughout the day then its suddenly stopped about 3 days ago… now I’m worried where it’s gone… no spotting/ bleeding or major cramping
I posted on the pregnancy thread and lots of lovely ladies replied to reassure me but , and it sounds stupid to say, I almost want the sickness to come back (sorry that’s a bit insensitive to anyone suffering with MS at the mo)
I have an early scan Tuesday (I booked it privately a few weeks ago) so I guess there’s nothing I can do until then Hmm

kep1979 · 05/06/2015 13:17

Have you tried owners direct? It would be self catering, but I've used them loads in the UK and Europe, and can usually find something nice within budget. You can also filter on dog friendly too.

And teeth cleaning makes me gag too! Going to try to take my vitamins shortly - I have some juice and a banana ready to take the taste away. Dh is trying to force feed me fruit at the moment, cause he's worried I'm not getting all my nutrients. He has given up on trying to convince me about meat - I did threaten to hurl on him though Grin

OTheHugeManatee · 05/06/2015 13:21

loveyoulots If Orford tempts, depending on budget for a long weekend I can recommend the King's Head (it has rooms upstairs B&B, and a fine breakfast) or if you're feeling extravagant the Crown and Castle. They also sometimes do long weekend special offers with dinner bed and breakfast. The restaurant at the Crown and Castle is absolutely excellent (worth the trip to Orford on its own, if you like good food) so although the rooms are quite simple for what you pay IMO it's a fab place to stay.

Yokyil · 05/06/2015 13:23

Am okay with fruit but veg at the minute I haven't managed any at all. Cannot stomach chicken at all...and I would've been a chicken fiend! Went out last night for dinner - ate all the dinner, then fudge cake and ice cream for dessert...and ended up being sick when I got home Sad think I just ate too much. Not used to such big portions at the minute Confused

OTheHugeManatee · 05/06/2015 13:27

Or here you go, loveyoulots. It's available during your holiday window, too Smile

OTheHugeManatee · 05/06/2015 13:28

Those of you with sickness, I just discovered the miracle that is spearmint Tic-Tacs Grin

moonshine25 · 05/06/2015 13:45

Hi and welcome hopefulnewbie! I think some of the other ladies have had fluctuating symptoms and mine are sometimes not so bad and then a couple of days later come back with a vengeance! Fingers crossed all is ok for you.

kep1979 · 05/06/2015 13:45

manatee I've discovered them too! Dh suggested it may help, quite surprised but happy that they do Smile
