November 2015 ladies! Time to feel the glow!

Are you expecting a babe in November this year? If so, get ready to get glowing. Breaking out in spots, or tears, or both is part of the so called glow. Feeling sick, contemplating births and having the odd good day of eating well is also all glow.

Come on then. Wee in the corner to mark your spot. Have some Brew or Cake or Wine. Then glow.

I loved the star fleece we got for ds and have saved it for this one. And not too bulky for the baby bear!

Just updated my due date

LadyStark · 22/05/2015 20:51

Here you all are!

I'm in bed already. Rock n roll! I am off all next week so very much looking forward to lots of rest.

princesssofiasmum · 22/05/2015 21:07

Hello I'm late to this bus, but have been lurking. Finally got around to rejoining mn as my old registration wasn't working. It's baby 2 for me, due 2 nov, and I'm 32 years old. DD is 4 so will start school just before this one comes along. Planning on going on mat leave early to be abke to manage the settling into school and looking forward to having an easy few weeks before baby arrives. Got a horrible cold so I'm glad it's the weekend now. calling in sick is not the done thing at my work!

CoffeeTwo · 22/05/2015 21:12

Got so much to catch up on!

Still feeling really sick :(

StAlphonsosPancakeBreakfast · 22/05/2015 21:38

Annatha, that's really cute!

All fine here - told work, and my boss was very nice about it. My colleagues were lovely! I am still getting used to the idea that this is actually Good News. Grin I have been told not to worry for a second about the fact that I'm still on probation, which is nice. Thankfully I got a glowing interim review a few weeks ago.

I am a bit anxious about the fact that we've just appointed a new Director, who will start just before I go off on maternity leave. I don't want to be totally sidelined, so I am hoping he isn't an utter bastard, or else is totally hands-off and just leaves us to get on with things while thinking about his Vision. [wank]

Physically I am in flying form - and yes, my nails are CRAZY right now. I am wondering about NCT and all that. I am not a joiner-in by nature, and I am a researcher by trade and don't really feel I need anyone to explain this stuff to me for £££.

But on the other hand I don't know anyone in this country that I don't work with, and I don't know anyone with children, so I suppose there's an off-chance I might make friends with people. I mean, it seems weird that you'd attempt to be friends with someone for no reason other than they got knocked up at the same time, doesn't it?

TakesTwoToTango · 22/05/2015 22:40

Grin It certainly does seem weird at the beginning stalph but as time goes on, not only are they people who got knocked up at the same time, but they also become people who had babies around the same time, in a similar area, experiencing the same/overlapping health services etc, same activities and local amenities for people with tiny babies, and as the babies grow, you go through all the milestones/pleasures/anxieties of each stage at around the same time. Before long you find that actually you suddenly have quite a large part of your day-to-day life experience in common!

annatha · 22/05/2015 22:46

st alpohonsos when I went to the nhs antenatal classes last year I was desperately trying to make conversation with the other women to make some mummy friends. It felt like we were back at uni again. I made some good friends at a playgroup when dd was about 3 months old and they've been brilliant. I only had work friends in cumbria and found it can be quite lonely on maternity leave as when we did meet up I was out of the loop. It's nice meeting up with mummy friends as I know we'll be somewhere baby friendly and it doesn't matter if dd kicks off.

Oh and my nails are growing at a ridiculous speed!

GoEasyJulia · 23/05/2015 09:05

Just noticed that the February thread has started, love that we are getting further back the list of months Grin

Lauramum23 · 23/05/2015 10:04

welcome princess x

as if febs starting already! I noticed the jan thread the other day.

oh and my nails are growing so fast too! and strong wish they were always like this and didn't break all the time! my job is a pedicure at some point this weekend.

its half term here this week and we have something going on every day!

cryingbabymess · 23/05/2015 11:17

Finally got my letter from the hospital today about the fetal downs test! That's been over 2 weeks I've waited! No news is good news tho.... 1 in 100,000.

annatha · 23/05/2015 11:27

That's great cryingbabymess, its daft that it takes so long! I'm having the blood test for it next week, baby is already taking after its sister and not behaving at scans.

Off to pick up a new car today! A very sensible 7 seater to replace my tiny beetle. The one and only exciting purchase this pregnancy!

Hope everyone is having a lovely sunny weekend Smile

cupcakesam84 · 23/05/2015 12:47

Thats great news cryingbaby! Mine was 1:27000, it took over 2 weeks to come! Thank you for adding me to list xx

Dixiebell · 23/05/2015 18:14

Sling people...I've used a baby bjorn carrier before but fancy trying a sling, I reckon with two boys already, doing school run etc and going to playgroups with ds2, I might want to use it quite a lot. What can anyone recommend?

Dixiebell · 23/05/2015 18:15

We got our new car yesterday, btw, a 7-seater Citrien Grand Picasso. DH is more excited about that than the baby, by far!

Gr33dyeggs · 23/05/2015 20:02

Dixiebell I have a baba sling I used when ds was newborn then a moby wrap.

mrswishywashy · 23/05/2015 20:45

I'll probably get the Ellaroo Mei Tai, can be used from birth and on front or back. I find them really comfortable. Also tempted by the ergo 360. If you can get to a sling library that will be your best bet for testing a selection so you can make a choice that fits right.

We went to mothercare for a browse today, so many cute things. Loving the look of the joie choices pram.

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 23/05/2015 21:01

Moby is good for newborn. Ellaroo is woven so good for back carry but takes some practice. Bjorn killed my back and apparently baby is in bad position- legs dangling.
Best carriers IMO are Ergo and Beco. Good distribution of weight across hips, babies legs in good position. Very comfy. I tried so many!

I'm considering getting a twin sling!

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 23/05/2015 21:39

Hope everyone is doing well. We told the parents in law yesterday and they are very happy, phew! Glad to get a happy response as the way my parents are about it is still a bit upsetting, hopefully they'll get them on board

annatha · 23/05/2015 22:52

Snap Dixiebell we got a grand Picasso too, its huge! Slingwise I used a Moby wrap from birth until about 4/5 months then switched to a connecta which I love. I had bought a babybjorn when I was pregnant but when I did try and use it it hurt my back. The Moby was lovely when she was tiny and I got the hang of tying it quickly, but I think close caboos are similar but already tied.

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 24/05/2015 07:27

I've heard really good things about the Close but never tried it myself.

We have the grand Picasso as well, got it last year. DH said we should get it in case we got pregnant and it was twins. I told him not to be so fucking ridiculous.

Dixiebell · 24/05/2015 08:20

Haha Guybrush!

StAlphonsosPancakeBreakfast · 24/05/2015 08:52

Oh, Guybrush! Grin

Feeling good here. Actually, not feeling pregnant at all (which in a way is nice, it's good to feel like myself again after all the stress of the last month, and I have tons of work to do).

When do people start buying things? I think I will wait till after the 20 week scan anyway but to be honest, I can't even imagine what you're supposed to get. A pram and whatnot. Um. A box for them to sleep in? Grin I hate shopping anyway, I think I will get DP to do it.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 24/05/2015 09:13

I think I'll buy stuff at around 25 weeks. After saying I didn't have much to buy I've since realised I do as a lot of our stuff is borrowed off someone having another baby at a similar time. So it'll be a bit like a first time shop for me too as I never got round to it last time.
I might pack my hospital bag soon, just my stuff, not baby's stuff yet. Apologies for the horrible thought but there's a point you have to be admitted anyway isn't there which I think might be soon so I might as well pack if

Amyyy27 · 24/05/2015 09:19

Hi ladies, late joiner here! (I keep forgetting about this part of MN sorry!)

Baby #1 due 11th November - I think there's quite a few of us!

Just wondering if there are any other HG sufferers here?
