November 2015 ladies! Time to feel the glow!

Are you expecting a babe in November this year? If so, get ready to get glowing. Breaking out in spots, or tears, or both is part of the so called glow. Feeling sick, contemplating births and having the odd good day of eating well is also all glow.

Come on then. Wee in the corner to mark your spot. Have some Brew or Cake or Wine. Then glow.

Everyone bought us 3-6 for some reason and that was the size DS was in the shortest time. Still at least I'll get use out of it all again as most of it's neutral

Karmanna13 · 22/05/2015 12:14

We're going to be quite boring this time and not buy much at all. Still got hats, new born clothes, snowsuits from DS1. And new baby will also inherit car seat, moses basket, cot, bibs, monitors, pram, sling, all of it really. The only thing we need are muslins, nappies, wipes and possibly bottles and steriliser if bf doesn't work out, and can't say I'm too excited about those purchaser, haha... DS was given so many clothes last time I think we have new born stuff left that he didn't even get to wear. Need to go through all the boxes and bags up in the loft...

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 22/05/2015 12:16

I've also got boxes of tiny, hopefully won't be needing those! DS caught up size wise quickly, in fact he's massive now and bigger than most term babies but people still buy us small stuff. I just swap it for the same outfit where possible in larger sizes, apart from the 2 boxes in the attic that is, oops

BriocheBriocheBrioche · 22/05/2015 12:31

I don't need to buy much as they think I am having another girl and dd1 was a winter baby too so hopefully most of the clothes will fit.

As we aren't buying much at all im trying to convince dh to let me buy a new Bugaboo Bee. I bought a second hand one last time and love it but its in a bit of a state now and id really like to be able to buy the uv ventilated hood as it gets super hot here in summer.

Why don't they advise to look for the heartbeat until after 25 weeks? I've heard it and seen the baby (mainly with the dildo cam other than the 12 week scan) at every appointment so far.

mrswishywashy · 22/05/2015 12:42

Were going for the less is more approach. Quite excited to have a winter baby as grandmothers are keen knitters and crocheters. Baby is going to look like a 70s baby but will be warm.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 22/05/2015 12:58

I'm unsure Brioche I was told they wouldn't check because mine's a second baby. They checked at 16 weeks with DS last year

SnozzberryPie · 22/05/2015 12:59

Going against the grain here but dd (December baby) never wore her snowsuit. It was too hot for the sling or the car and if she was wearing it in the pram then it was impossible to take off without waking her when we went indoors. I preferred to use lots of blankets instead.

Gr33dyeggs · 22/05/2015 13:10

I'm with you snozz. We had about 3 bought us and I rarely used them - when i did I left him sleeping in the pram outside as I was worried he'd overheat if I brought it in!

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 22/05/2015 13:25

I guess we're the odd ones out - DS still loves his snowsuit, even though it's a bit warm now. We get some funny looks but he's always had trouble with being too cold

HeirToTheIronThrone · 22/05/2015 13:52

I am frantically making notes about stuff to buy from you more experienced ladies! I am a knitter so at least this pea will have lots of cardies and blankets to start with.

Hello to Knit, I was wondering if I would see you. I'm so glad you're feeling better.

My NCT is cheap then - £120 for 6 classes! I want to do it as my free children's centre one is only 2 evenings and I would rather have more time to explore things. We also know very few people with children where we live, my school friends who are all mums are a couple of hours ago, so I hope this will help change that. My mum is still friends with people from her NCT she did with me, and I am still in touch with their children, so I hope we can have the same experience.

I am feeling shocking today, tired and nauseous. We have a really busy weekend with some friends coming to stay, I am so looking forward to seeing them but would also like to sleep...

roughtyping · 22/05/2015 14:26

heir sorry to hear you're feeling rubbish, what's wrong?

I am so breathless today, it's not good. Feel like there's no room for my lungs to expand. But it's making me less hungry so that's good!

mrsscarlettbutler · 22/05/2015 14:26

Brioche Apparently they dont like to check because sometimes they can't find it, if the baby is in a funny position etc and it can cause unneccesary worry. I think that's only for hearing it on a doppler though - obviously with the dildo cam they are actually looking at the baby so no chance of not finding it.

cryingbabymess · 22/05/2015 14:27

Thanks ladies! I didn't get instructions with the angel sounds, just the thing itself. I wish I knew someone that could knit! I really want a cosy blanket or something for monkey but since there's no females on my side of the family and only his alcoholic mother on his I doubt we will get any knitted stuff! Speaking of his mother, she phoned when I was away on Wednesday and is apparently sending up a bundle of vests and socks which is nice. OH said she was disappointed we didn't want to find out what we were having, that's tough titty MIL!

annatha · 22/05/2015 14:29

We bought a Toby tiger snowsuit from eBay (can you tell I'm a cheapskate haha) which had detachable feet, gloves and two zips so it was easy to get her in and could be opened for ventilation if I was popping in and out of shops. She we kept each other warm when she was in the sling, I used a lovely cosy Moby and can't wait to use it again.

Here is the suit in all its glory, it was a bit big at first!

TakesTwoToTango · 22/05/2015 14:49

Crying, I don't have any knitters in the family either sadly, but you an get lovely handknitted stuff on eBay and in some small shops. You can also pick some up at nearly new sales quite often.

TakesTwoToTango · 22/05/2015 14:50

Ps I'm overseas and here they have been checking the hb witha Doppler since 10 weeks!

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 22/05/2015 16:11

DH just pointed out that I have two bums growing in my tummy.

HeirToTheIronThrone · 22/05/2015 16:39

Anna that is adorable!

KnitFastDieWarm · 22/05/2015 16:54

aww anna she looks like she's ready for an Artic expedition! Smile

KnitFastDieWarm · 22/05/2015 16:55

that's not even slightly how you spell ARCTIC. And I'm an editor for heavens' sake Blush

mrswishywashy · 22/05/2015 17:01

There's lots of videos to follow on you tube for knitting and crocheting. I can crochet granny squares and it's easy to pick up. I've knitted a blanket in the past as well. With practice I hope to able to knit booties and cardies and hats. One of my friends mothers knits cardies to sell I'm happy to post a link for people to look at.

Also in car seats it's far safer to use blankets for warmth as in an accident a snow suit or jacket can compress leading to baby coming out of straps.

annatha · 22/05/2015 17:38

Haha she was! We took her to the isle of man in February and it was absolutely freezing so money well spent.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 22/05/2015 17:50

So cute annatha!

I read somewhere on here that star wraps are supposed to be good if you find snowsuits fiddly. I've never tried them though but might get one tuppenceandcrumble.com/shop/star_wraps

Lauramum23 · 22/05/2015 18:01

annatha she looks adorable!

jojomaman bebe do polarfleece snowsuits that aren't bulky and the zip to the leg if I remember rightly. I bought one for my youngest, but they are very expensive for what they are. but I love them so we will see!?

SnozzberryPie · 22/05/2015 18:16

I like that star wrap. We had one of these which I highly recommend.
