November 2015 ladies! Time to feel the glow!

Are you expecting a babe in November this year? If so, get ready to get glowing. Breaking out in spots, or tears, or both is part of the so called glow. Feeling sick, contemplating births and having the odd good day of eating well is also all glow.

Come on then. Wee in the corner to mark your spot. Have some Brew or Cake or Wine. Then glow.

My 20wk scan is 2 weeks today. I'm starting to get nervous too!

I got my exemption card when I was about 6wks pregnant. My GP sent the form off when I saw her at 4 weeks and it came through really quickly. Not that I've used it yet!

My next midwife appointment isn't until 28 weeks so I guess I'll get the MATB1 when I see my GP at 25 weeks? I'll check with work to see if they have a deadline!

Still feeling fat today. I'm sure I'll feel better when an actual bump emerges from the podge!

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 05/06/2015 12:12

Perhaps I'm first then? I didn't get to hear the heartbeat and I think I feel movements but not very strong compared to last time (I'm suspecting my placenta is at the front) so it will be good to find out if everything is ok in there.
I know I've said before, so sorry for repeating, but last time it was when they spotted my placenta praevia, so fingers crossed for no anomalies this time. I know it's not the worst thing that could happen but that's the thing on my mind

mrsscarlettbutler · 05/06/2015 12:30

My due date is 31st October Abbey and my anomoly scan is on 16th June, so a week on Tuesday. Glad I just checked actually as I was convinced it was on the Thursday!

I've got a huge fear of incompetent cervix, does anyone know is that something they look at at the 20 week scan? I asked the midwife and she essentially dismissed my concerns (which granted, are just me being anxious, I have no reason to think I will have it) and said they only check if you've lost a pregnancy to it before, which seems a bit like shutting the door after the horse has bolted to me. My cousin had her baby in Canada and they spotted hers quite early on as it was routine to check where she was, and gave her a stitch. I've just developed a huge, probably irrational anxiety about it happening to me. I wonder if I ask the sonographoer they would check?

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 05/06/2015 12:33

I'm not sure mrsscarlett is it something that runs in families? You could say you've got family history of it and perhaps they'd check?

Gr33dyeggs · 05/06/2015 12:41

My 20 week scan is Monday 15th. I'm a little anxious after stumbling across some stories on here, but excited too. And think as I'm low risk it should (all being well) be the last time we see baby until birth!

mrsscarlettbutler · 05/06/2015 12:41

That's a good idea, maybe I'll do that. Just can't stop worrying about it - am going to Barcelona on a hen weekend next weekend and am trying to look forward to it but also panicking that something will happen while I'm there. Am prone to anxiety so it's not surprising that this is happening, seems like as soon as I've got my mind at rest about one thing, I start worrying about the next. I'm sure this is all part of being a parent as well!

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 05/06/2015 12:42

My scan is in 3 weeks.
Wondering who will have the first babies of the group?! It could be me- due date is 11th, but I will be induced no later than 38 weeks which will be 28th October... But the chances of twins making it to 38 weeks are fairly slim anyway. Just hoping I make it to 36 or 37 weeks.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 05/06/2015 13:06

If I get an ELCS granted I'm guessing that'll put me at 39 weeks, so 22nd October? I'm hoping I get to term anyway, I don't want another September baby, if I'm in at 35 weeks again that's 24th September. No reason things should repeat themselves though. If my placenta is normal I have the same risk of prem birth as anyone else - 1 in 10. I'll be packing my bag early anyway though, lesson learnt there!

Amyyy27 · 05/06/2015 13:15

Guy I think you have a good chance of being first! Although I do know a girl who has just had her baby at 32 weeks. Scary! (All is fine with mother and baby)

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 05/06/2015 13:22

My friend just had her twins at 30 weeks.

Amyyy27 · 05/06/2015 13:25

Blimey! Are they all ok?

Alittlebitofeverything · 05/06/2015 13:41

Is anyone else due end of November? Originally my due date was 1st December but they brought it forward to November.

TakesTwoToTango · 05/06/2015 13:56

Abbey, I had an early anomy scan on Wednesday (at 16+3), as I'm high risk for issues, but everything looked good Grin Baby was measuring 17-18 weeks, so looks like I'm in for another chunky one Grin I'll have another scan on 1st July when I'll be 20+3, fingers crossed it all still looks good then. I totally forgot to ask about my placenta position, but I haven't had any bleeding now for nearly two weeks (touches wood!).

Mrsscarlett, I was very anxious about incompetent cervix in my first pg too (my worries were due to strange pains and dragging feelings which I now think is due to a slight prolapse - religiously doing kegels helps!). They can't see your cervix length very clearly on the transabdominal scan so if they are going to check thoroughly, they will need to do a transvaginal one too. You can always explain your family history and ask.

Focusfocus · 05/06/2015 14:14

My scan is on 23rd June - which is exactly 21 weeks, and the day before I go away for a major work related event at I am organising/conducting for three days full on.

My chief worry is if they discover something awful on 23rd, there's no way I can pull out of said workshop - because 14 countries are participating and I am the bloody chair/director/parent of this entire group. That's freaking me out. I called them to move it to the week before I.e. A real "20 weeks" scan but of yourself there's no availability. Considered a private one for £200 but then had to realise that I have overthought this matter considerably and need to really get a grip.

Abbey and Scarlett - It sucks that it might need badgering and pestering to get them to recognise history/family issues to investigate cervix or allow a C section without argument (abbey) because pregnancy isn't a time we have the energy or emotional stability to have arguments. But if you get your DH to badger them for you, it might make it less of a battle. Hoping the midwives there are nice. Mine seem nice till now...

I had my 20 week anomaly scan this morning! Due date 24/10 and I'm pretty sure Cish and Nomore are around the same time as me.

Luckily I had a big presentation yesterday to government bods so most of my nervousness went on that. Smile That said, I was nervous this morning and kept thinking how life-changing the appointment would be. Primarily in terms of the baby's health as there's so much to check but also imaginging how life will be with a boy versus a girl.

Anyway, the baby's completely healthy: all the checks and measurements were fine - phew! Smile My placenta is still low so I'll have to be scanned again at 32 weeks to see if it's moved up.

And ... I'm having a baby girl - eek! I've always been convinced that I'd have a boy although the 12 week scan did make me think it might be a girl. The nub and skull theory were right - but then I guess it would be 50% of the time. Smile

Went to John Lewis after to look at prams, got completely confused and befuddled and had to leave. I really am so clueless! Smile

Crumbelina · 05/06/2015 14:44

Oh and re the Mat B form, I got it at the hospital today so worth asking.

Guy, I hope your friend and the twins are ok?!

Amyyy27 · 05/06/2015 14:47

Crumbelina Glad your scan went well, and a little girl! Exciting :) I can't wait to find out now!

Crumbelina · 05/06/2015 14:51

Thanks Amy - good luck with your scan in a couple of weeks! Smile Are you finding out whether it's a boy/girl?

LadyStark · 05/06/2015 14:56

'loratadine and cetirizine are non-sedating and are the preferred oral antihistamines for treating hay fever during pregnancy.'

Looks like either are ok during pregnancy, mine seems a bit better today, hurrah for lower pollen count.

Ooh 32 weeks is early, I have a friend who had all three of her children at around this mark and apart from being small none of them had any problems. Hope your friend and babies are doing well.

My scan is next Friday just before I head off to my best friend’s hen weekend. Exciting!

heloharris · 05/06/2015 15:17

Sitting here at work typing away in my new maternity jeans. Oh the joy! The comfort! Why did I wait until now?! No more digging in to the belly - just a very happy tum!

I had my 16 week mw appointment yesterday and heard the heartbeat - which is always nice. I was a bit down in the dumps and I think she expected a reaction from me, but I just went ah yes, it's very surreal....

Feeling so tired which I am going to put down to a number of things. On the low side blood pressure, not taking any hayfever tablets so the hayfever is making me tired, and withdrawal symptoms of not having as much caffeine. Midwife did give me some iron tablets on the off chance they might make me feel better but as my iron levels are perfectly fine, I think I'll just end up getting the side effects and a blocked up gut knowing my luck.

I've booked a doctor's appointment so that I can get some hayfever tablets as I don't think I really need to suffer blocked sinuses, headaches, sneezing, itchy eyes and ears/throat for the whole summer!

Can't wait to wear my other new maternity jeans tomorrow....saddo.

LadyStark · 05/06/2015 15:29

Sorry meant to post link to the quote about hay fever meds up there - here it is from the NHS website www.nhs.uk/chq/pages/935.aspx?categoryid=54

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 05/06/2015 15:54

Friend and twins are doing ok thanks for asking! They were very very tiny- around 2lb each so are still in hospital but breathing for themselves etc now. Long road ahead but they are doing very well.

GoEasyJulia · 05/06/2015 15:56

alittlebit I'm due 28th Nov so I'll be tagging along at the end of the month with you Smile

Karmanna13 · 05/06/2015 16:05

I'm 16 weeks today. Over here the anomaly scan is at 18 weeks but still haven't had a letter through with my appointment, grr. Getting really impatient!

Starting to feel really uncomfortable and short of breath even when just standing up. Must be baby pressing on something. Don't remember feeling this so early in last pg, definitely not before third trimester. Just feel a bit moany at the moment, and too hot, even though I've been waiting for summer to arrive for weeks. Suppose moaning is the prerogative of a pregnant lady! Grin
