Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

oh wow i may just have had the worse baby brain case ever today and im caught between being absolutely mortified and finding it completely hilarious!

only been to a beautiful wedding, invite says 1.00pm! few colleagues invited too. sat waiting for bride to come in thinking where are my colleagues (not completely worried as i didnt have my glasses and completely blind as a bat). ceremony is over move outside for drinks and canapes - still no sign of colleagues. bride comes over and i ask where are colleagues, oh theyre coming tonite.

at this point i start thinking f! f! f! have i got the wrong time? wait until meal time sit through the speeches then look at the seating plan and were not on it Shock now we've either got it wrong or they have and i wont know until tomo when i get home and check the invite.

worse thing is my feet are killing im shattered and in a panic over whether we have crashed or not so we have gone and left early too (after the meal) god i feel really bad! how on earth do i recover from this? bride is my bestest work colleague and i feel an absolute idiot!

gingerbreadmam · 30/05/2015 19:16

oh lady share ur names here i promise not to be rude or try and put u off. my dm does this and it drives me mad! im more likely to call it something she doesnt like just to p her off ha!

Ladypug · 30/05/2015 19:22

Well we're not really looking at names yet but today came across Harlow for a boy and both liked it. Our worries are that a) it sounds too feminine and b) we know a Harley so it might be too similar. I understand ppl don't like it much and that's ok but everyone started telling me what a shit town it was and how awful it was (I didn't know it was a town), I just think they could have been a bit more polite! But maybe it is a bit out there!

gingerbreadmam · 30/05/2015 19:29

i love out there names and never heard of harlow the town either. i actually prefer harloe to harley too! i wouldnt worry what other people think its ur baby and as long as you like and are happy with it thats all that counts.

i love baxter. i know its different and people pull faces but whenever i hear other peoples suggestions (dm's) i always feel shes picking things she thinks are out there but are actually becoming very common (and some are slightly chavvy). i prefer my names to other peoples suggestions.

Stinkersmum · 30/05/2015 19:31

As my doctor inadvertently told me what team we were on at my scan, we now know what we're calling our dc. Well, DH is adamant. I'm not so sure, but I can't come up with a name we both like better. Confused

Ladypug · 30/05/2015 19:55

God I know what you mean Ginger! My mil is obsessed that if its a girl it has to be Chloe or Heidi! Nothing wrong with either of these names but it's just not what we would choose!

Ladypug · 30/05/2015 19:57

Aw Stinkers, we have ages to choose at least, I'm quite excited about it although a bit scared now at how harshly people judge! I will probably crack and call him/her Jack or Jill to keep it safe!!

gingerbreadmam · 30/05/2015 20:02

are you sharing stinkers.

everytime i think of a name i play scenarios in my head of using the name to check i am comfortable with it. if i am then its on the list for me regardless of what anyone else thinks.

i know a few children with very out there names, particularly my dniece. when they names her i remember actually being a bit upset they had chosen such a weird name but now i could not imagine her being called anything else. her name is as individual as she is and completely perfect for her.

Stinkersmum · 30/05/2015 20:15

I'll share what the top names for boy or girl were but won't share what team we actually are. I must admit I thought I'd be gutted if I found out, but I'm not.

Girl - Polly
Boy - Gabriel

Ladypug · 30/05/2015 20:19

Nice names Stinkers, especially the boy name! How is everyone finding names? Got no idea where to start looking!

gingerbreadmam · 30/05/2015 20:29

love then stinkers particularly polly. will you shorten gabriel at all?

lady i bought some books but kind of just go with ones i hear. i found a fab site on google where you can enter names you likes and it gives you suggestions based on your tastes.

Ladypug · 30/05/2015 20:34

Ooh that's a good idea! I'm going to start looking properly I think, we've been waiting until 20 week scan which I'm nervous about. Once that's done I'm going to look for prams and names!

Stinkersmum · 30/05/2015 20:55

ginger I personally won't - I don't like shortening names apart from my own. But if others were to shorten it to Gabe it wouldn't be hideous.

gingerbreadmam · 30/05/2015 21:00

theyre both lovely stinkers great choices!

lady were waiting till scan wednesday before proper looking as me and dp dont agree on many any so at least that way we only have to look at boys or girls.

ive picked a pram i love but dp doesnt Grin its also over budget so now av to either persuade dp or be sensible and stick to the budget (provided by mil so cant really complain).

Ladypug · 30/05/2015 21:28

Ooh which pram Ginger?

gingerbreadmam · 30/05/2015 21:36

bebecar el stylo

this is the one i love.

gingerbreadmam · 30/05/2015 21:38

if we stick to the budget this is probably the one we will get altho not sure which colour

venicci vento

Ladypug · 30/05/2015 22:36

Ooh looks lovely Ginger! Excited to start shopping, I've become a proper pram perv eyeing up all the prams in the street!

gingerbreadmam · 31/05/2015 07:43

thats how i started looking at everyone elses.

tbh the bebecar one isnt very practical for in the car and i reckon ill end up regretting it. ill regret not getting it too but if i put my sensible head on i think i need to look at something a bit more practical.

i love the mini one in mothercare but when u buy all the seperates the price starts getting a bit silly.

SparklesandBubbles · 31/05/2015 10:09

Love the bebecar Ginger. Agree though that it looks like it's great for walking but imagine it's quite heavy to get in and out of a car. The Venicci looks good too, you get a lot for your money.

I had a very vivid dream last night about breastfeeding for the first time and changing nappies and how I was completely disorganised for Bubba's first day in the world!! Perhaps a sign I need to start buying/borrowing everything I need!

Stinkersmum · 31/05/2015 12:14

I would recommend, if you don't need or want a carry cot, the Mamas and Papas Urbo2. It's lovely. The pushchair lies completely flat. Really easy to switch between rear and front facing. It's not the cheapest but should last a few years!

gingerbreadmam · 31/05/2015 14:45

i really want a carry cot as we have open plan living room kitchen in our new house and pram will have to stay in the room so would save us getting a moses basket too.

yeah i think ill get sick of the bebcar.

update on yesterdays wedding crashing story, finally got home and checked invite and it said 1 so least wasnt my mistake Grin

Superexcited · 31/05/2015 17:12

Did you check the date on the invite and the venue? I've been having visions of you being at the wrong venue Grin

gingerbreadmam · 31/05/2015 19:34

yup checked. right time right venue haha. now i feel bad leaving early as we felt so awkward. who would have thought missing people off a seating plan could cause so much worry Grin
