Hello hello scan today 21 weeks went well don't want to know but think I saw a er boy... Are they that obvious or more likely to be something else like a cord? Baby is already in odd position and placenta at front so movement feeling limited!

batfish · 29/05/2015 20:00

Glad scans went well emma and changing!

super can't believe your mum said that! No wonder you were annoyed - like you say many people get bad news at their scans so just to find out the baby is healthy is the best news you can get. Congrats on your boy Smile

ginger you poor thing!

stinkersmum I have only just started to feel movements from the outside this week - before that I wasn't feeling much at all then suddenly I got booted in the arm when I was laid with it over my stomach. I haven't really been watching to see if I can see anything move, I think if I watched closely enough then I probably would seeing as I can feel it but I haven't spotted anything yet. Exciting that you are feeling movement!

gingerbreadmam · 29/05/2015 20:04

i know i never realised before falling pregnant just how worrying it could all be!

wow thats some good movement batfish, how far along are you?

im not sure about seeing boy bits Grin

Superexcited · 29/05/2015 22:00

Superexcited - I am also expecting a boy. Any tips you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

I don't have any specific tips as you just kind of go with the flow when they are babies and pick things up as you go along. But the best things I have found about having boys as they get a bit older is that haircuts are cheap and I don't have to deal with periods and PMT in an already hormonal teen Grin

The sonographer did say my placenta was at the front but I have been feeling loads of movement especially in the last week. Sometimes it's flutters, sometimes feels likes somersaults and other times a sharp kick which makes me jump but I haven't 'seen' movement yet.

Ca55andraMortmain · 29/05/2015 22:00

I would have been the same ginger, a child in my class had scarlet fever but had been on holiday for over a week before he got it, I still phoned the doctor in tears.
On a different note, have been looking at clothes for little bump and next have some really gorgeous sleepsuits and dresses etc. I noticed that a lot of their baby grows popper down the side instead of the middle so that they dont open between the legs (not sure I'm explaining that very well...) - is that going to make changing more difficult? I want to get some as they're so cute but not if it makes every change a hassle!

Superexcited · 29/05/2015 22:02

About seeing boy bits on the scan: we could see boy bits, the sonographer went to the groin area and said 'definitely some extra bits there' and it was very obvious. I didn't find out the gender in my first two pregnancies so it was quite amazing at how clearly the extra bits could be seen.

gingerbreadmam · 29/05/2015 22:18

cass most next sleepsuits have built in scratch mits if i remember correctly! theyre very good. ill be heading there after scan to pick something in out colours Grin

batfish · 30/05/2015 07:25

ginger I will be 22 weeks tomorrow so it was 21+1 when I felt the first outside movement - completely took me by surprise as I had been feeling a bit worried about hardly feeling anything at all and lots of people on the Facebook group seem to have been having loads of movement for weeks! It was only by chance really though as I was sitting with my hand over my stomach, I probably wouldn't have realised if I hadn't been.

Scan this morning, I seem to have got mr bat back to my way of thinking of not finding out the sex! Part of me would love to find out but I also like not knowing.

batfish · 30/05/2015 07:27

Oh and yesterday I bought a massive preggo sleeping pillow - AMAZING!! Never been so cosy in my entire life, I'm keeping it forever. Hubby had a go in it this morning and I think he wants one too haha. And I am a snorer so ladylike and as it stopped me rolling onto my back it meant that I didn't snore so mr bat v happy too Smile

gingerbreadmam · 30/05/2015 08:09

which one did you get bat? im debating buying one cos i cant sleep for long at night my legs ache terribly. ive made do with one pillow between the knees but does nothing now.

have fun at scan! hope all goes well.

im off to docs now to follow up about these suspected measles. going to ask if can listen for heartbeat Grin

Brambles35 · 30/05/2015 08:11

AnaY84 · 30/05/2015 08:51

Hi, just joined NM today so total newbie. I'm due 27 Oct so 18wks. Lots of mention about baby movement. I had flutters about a week ago but this has since stopped. Have an anterior cord so don't know if this explains it. Would love to know about facebook group for Oct mums x

Brambles35 · 30/05/2015 09:00

Hi Ana, I think you need to message 'Gaggiagirl' in order to join the FB group x

AnaY84 · 30/05/2015 09:32

Thanks Brambles, she kindly sent me the link and added me x

SparklesandBubbles · 30/05/2015 09:55

Morning all. I just had the longest sleep and extraordinary dreams!! Have been so tired all week.

Ginger, hope the test goes ok. I also had a scare when I found out someone we'd interview had measles. I was so worried but turns out all was fine.

Congrats everyone on their boys and girls and positive scans.

I'd be interested to know which sleep pillow people have as I keep waking up on my back and know we're supposed to sleep on our side.

Welcome all the newbies. I've not get joined the fb page. Think it's time I did.

SparklesandBubbles · 30/05/2015 09:59

I also think I've felt movement in the last week. I've only just turned 18 wks so not sure if I'm imagining it. Felt like a little twinge.

gingerbreadmam · 30/05/2015 11:15

they didnt bother taking a swab. doctor looked and said doesnt look anything like measles just a rash.

i just got a false positive blood result by looks. going back in 2 wks for another (great, dont they know i hate having blood taken?) but apparently this is just for their info really as theyre curious.

anyway dr said even if was measles they only worry if less than 12 wks or due to deliver so im good ha.

welcome to the newbies!

Rabbit15 · 30/05/2015 11:55

ginger hope the result will be fine!

batfish my DH loves the maternity pillow too! I woke up this morning feeling quite hot so went to the spare room to sleep, had to leave the pillow behind as DH wrapped himself around it!

Welcome newbies Smile, FB group has a lot of scan pictures and gender announcement!

batfish · 30/05/2015 12:23

ginger I got a bump nest - wasn't too much choice here and I liked that it has a removable cover for washing and it has peacock feather pattern on it and material is nice and soft. Get one, I'm sure you won't regret it! Could be hot though in the summer - I will then be glad of our AC! I was seriously cosy last night. Glad to hear your news from the docs Smile

Haha rabbit I'm sure I'll find my hubby stealing mine too!

Hi new people! Grin

batfish · 30/05/2015 12:24

sparkles I was always waking up on my back to and found it uncomfortable going to sleep on my side as I usually go to sleep more on my stomach but the pillow kept me perfectly in position.

Stinkersmum · 30/05/2015 12:33

batfish which shop? I need something like that. Maybe I can find something similar in KSA.

batfish · 30/05/2015 12:55

It was a shop called Destination Maternity - pretty much the only place that has much stuff, not sure if it is a chain or not. 500 dirhams. I could courier you one! Grin

Stinkersmum · 30/05/2015 13:40

Ah ok. There's some of those outlets in the usa, I got my maternity clothes from there in April.

Ladypug · 30/05/2015 19:07

Evening all, pregnancy pillow sounds good, think I'm going to get one too! I have decided (after being stoned to death pretty much) not to discuss names on MN and to stick to this thread- people can be vicious!
