indulge cass all part of the excitement. i am debating putting hol in for scan day so i can go clothes shopping because know ill be desperate too.

if you have really bad restless legs might be worth mentioning to mw. can be a symptom of anaemia. worth checking out as lots of women do get it when pregnant.

Fabuluce · 27/05/2015 21:03

Ooh I get restless legs too - only thing that helps is stretching, like warming down stretching.

katkins123 · 27/05/2015 21:23

I used to get restless legs occasionally but it's frequent now, only way to ease it is out of bed and do squats and stretches for a few mins, grrr! Knew it was common in pregnancy but didn't know could be a symptom of something, thanks

Ladypug · 27/05/2015 21:38

Anyone else getting really bad pains like strong period pains in one side? Owww! X

SparklesandBubbles · 27/05/2015 23:48

Wow, I've been AWOL for a few days and so much chat to catch up on. Exciting about the scans.

Stinkers, I'm expecting DC#1 and know what you mean about wondering how DH will be with a child. I think he'll be a great Dad but not sure he realises quite how much it's going to change his life too! Glad your scan went well.

Ginger and Heart, my DH drinks quite a bit too. To be fair I used to join him with a glass of wine but he quite regularly has 2-3 in an evening, most evenings!

Ca55andra and Coolchic congrats on having a girl, exciting! Glad the scans went well.

Katkins, welcome. Completely with you on the exercise thing. I had great plans to continue running, decided against cycling as felt London is too risky (miss it like mad though, used to always cycle to work) but hasn't quite turned out that way. I have found the out of breath has got better than it was and I can walk up the tube escalators again...nothing major I know but an improvement!! I'm loving antenatal Pilates.

gingerbreadmam · 28/05/2015 06:58

yeah i was anaemic end of last year and had really bad restless legs. googled it as knew it was a sign of pregnancy but it came up linked to anaemia. nothing to worry about if u r a dose of tablets prescribed by gp will soon sort u out (if it is that, could just be one of those pregnancy things).

i get a dull ache sometimes gaggia a bit like when due on. think its just everything making room Grin

my legs r flipping agony on a night now feels like my bones r twisting inside my muscles urgh. think im gona try sleeping sat up.

Superexcited · 28/05/2015 07:02

ladypug I have been getting quite a lot of pains. I am quite certain that mine is round ligament pain and sometimes trapped wind making it worse. If it is consistent and very painful go and see your GP / midwife so they can make sure it is just a normal pregnancy symptom,

Fabuluce · 28/05/2015 07:50

My tum is generally ok in the pain department other than growing pains I haven't anything to worry about but I do have quite a lot of pain in my left side in between a couple of ribs. It's so ouchy! The only thing that seems to alleviate it is lying down on my side but even then that doesn't always work and if it starts up in the morning I know I'm going to be in for a bad day Hmm. My midwife didn't know what it was but suggested it might be related to constipation - like I need any other traumas in that area?!? Gah! I'm seeing my GP today for my first weekly fetal heart monitoring so I'll check with him too.

I think my DH will make a great Dad but I also think he has no idea what's going to hit him.....but to be fair no-one ever does do they!!

Superexcited · 28/05/2015 09:37

Aldi have a baby event in which started today. I have just bought a hauck deluxe bouncer for £19.99 (same one £49.99 in mothercare) and a hauck travel cot for £19.99 (same one is £46.99 in argos). They have other stuff too.

Stainlessteel · 28/05/2015 12:50

The Frenchman (how I often refer to my DP as his name is unpronounceable other than in french) has just started an internship at a brewery. He gets paid a little bit but most of his salary comes in the form of beer... It's a good job there are lots of other volunteers to help make the most of his 'wages' as otherwise we'd be swimming in the stuff. Anyway he's fond of a drink but only has more than one when he has company (other than me of course).

On another topic he is clearly going to be a way better parent than me. He's really good with kids in general and since he was nearly 10 when his little bother was born he has lots of experience with babies. I, on the other hand, am something of a hold them out at arms length person. I'm sure I'll get the hang of it once my arms get tired of that position.

AnnaBegins · 28/05/2015 19:40

Wow so much to catch up on! Loving seeing all the scan pics on fb Smile

My DH will be an awesome dad, he is amazing with our niece and nephew, but he is so optimistic I worry how he will cope if it isn't all as easy as he expects... He will take to it more naturally than me though I think.

Saw a friend today whose little one is 5 months now and she has a milk allergy which made her scream constantly for the first 8 weeks until diagnosed - shows how even something manageable can make life so difficult at first. Friend looked amazing though!

Emma321q · 29/05/2015 07:34

Morning all

I have been watching the discussions in here for a few weeks now. I have my 20 week scan this morning for my first pregnancy. Have to admit I have been awake for hours anxious about what the day ahead holds. Fingers crossed it all goes ok. Good luck to anyone else with a scan today!

Superexcited · 29/05/2015 07:37

I have a scan today too, I've been awake since about 5am full of anxiety and wondering whether we will be girl or boy.

Stinkersmum · 29/05/2015 07:58

Good luck Emma & Super.

Superexcited · 29/05/2015 08:08

Thank you stinkers.

SparklesandBubbles · 29/05/2015 08:20

Good luck Emma and Super. Hope your scans go well today. I've still got just under two weeks for mine.

Superexcited · 29/05/2015 09:15

I'm back (first appointment of the day) the scan went well, everything looks as expected. Team blue! I

batfish · 29/05/2015 09:32

Aww how lovely! Congrats!

Good luck for your scan too emma

Superexcited · 29/05/2015 12:23

Thanks batfish.

My mum phoned a while ago to find out how the scan went and ask what we were having. I told her everything went well and that we were having a boy and she replied with 'oh that's a shame, but never mind' Angry
I already have 2 boys and no girls so everyone is assuming that I will be unhappy with another boy but I was just glad everything was okay and progressing as expected. I gave my mum a severe telling off and pointed out that the news was all very good and that lots of people get bad news at scans so I feel very thankful. I could tell she was disappointed though!

I have gone out and bought some blue things just to calm myself down.
I was convinced we were having a boy and only had boys names in mind. DH isn't bothered about gender either so I don't know why other people think we will be bothered.

Stinkersmum · 29/05/2015 17:46

Ladypug - I think I just felt the baby move for the first time today. I'm 20+3. For those that have done all this before, would I see an movement or just feel it??

Emma321q · 29/05/2015 18:55

Thanks everyone - the scan went really well.

Superexcited - I am also expecting a boy. Any tips you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

crazypuglady · 29/05/2015 19:09

I've been feeling movement for 2 weeks stinkers and still can't see anything when it happens. You can feel it from the outside too.

gingerbreadmam · 29/05/2015 19:15

congrats on all the new scans and lots of little boys on their way too. great news!

i think ive felt movement for about 3 wks but its weird when its your first isnt it cos how do you know? mine sometimes feels like spinning and sometimes feels like baby has stretched out. i think its baby but dont know. kind of feels like a twitch.

just had a horrible ten mins! dont know if some of you remember me posting about rash last wk. well had my bloods done and drs called saying if has tested 'mildly' positive for measles. cue me crying down the phone to the dr. from what i can gather i am passed the point (12wks) where it could have an affect on the baby they are more worried about my health and how im feeling.

the weird thing is ive been fine havent felt ill at all and only had a rash which doesnt seem to fit in with measles as it was only on my tummy and apparently measles starts in your mouth / on your face neck then spreads.

anyway consultant called after gp and said if i feel well it is likely a false positive as it was only just over what they would class as negative. now i feel like an idiot for crying to the gp! have to go in tomo for a swab to double check i think. wish i had a doppler right now. scan on wednesday cant come quick enough!

crazypuglady · 29/05/2015 19:41

A twitch is about right ginger

I would have cried at that phone call. I cried because I came into contact with someone with chicken pox. I've had it, the risk is virtually nil!

gingerbreadmam · 29/05/2015 19:49

ahh thanks crazy that has made me feel less stupid! i also was in contact with someone with chicken pox last wk and maternity advice line said if you've had it before nothing to worry about.

i hd an mmr in 1994 too so its probs very unlikely to be measles just weird it showed up!
