yes sounds like you'll be needing a few! hopefully the new luggage will make it a little easier and having equipment already here too!

i have no clue about slings im afraid! hopefully someone with a bit more knowledge will help you out.

Fabuluce · 25/06/2015 08:16

I'm thinking about slings too Stinkers. No idea what to get yet but am thinking that I want one that goes over both shoulders and ties rather than one shoulder with a ring as I get a bad back if I have things on one shoulder. The general perceived knowledge is that forward facing is best for the first 6 months and stretchy wraps rather than carriers are also better but further than that I haven't gone. I have a friend who is a wrap guru so plan to ask her (she's currently finalising her wedding in 2 weeks though so timing isn't optimal at the mo!). I'll let you know when I've got some more concrete info.

Well done Ginger, I'm so pleased for you that things aren't turning out as bad for your little one as first thought. Keep up the positivity and ignore the naysayers!

Stinkersmum · 25/06/2015 08:29

Fab I've been looking at the Amawrap. Watched a demo vid on YouTube and it looks really good. I'm not a fan of one sided/ring slings - I'm tall and need to keep my back in check as I get the occasional sciatica attack.

gaggiagirl · 25/06/2015 11:05

ginger so glad its all going well! I was on a work thing at the hospital you are having your baby at. Its so impressive. I'm jealous!

i must admit ive been nothing but impressed with all the expertise we have received so far. they have really looked after us as best they can and are on the ball arranging the appointments etc. i have a lot of confidence in them and glad you found them good. can you transfer over or not?

gaggiagirl · 25/06/2015 15:09

No its a different trust otherwise I would. I loved all the shops and cafes too.

Anybody else find that their breasts are growing quite rapidly? I bought some maternity bras at 9 weeks pregnant which were a cup size bigger than my normal size (normal size had got too tight) and today I have had to buy new bras another 2 cup sizes up. Goodness knows what size I will be when my milk comes in. I didn't go up this much in previous pregnancies even when the milk came in Shock

gingerbreadmam · 25/06/2015 20:14

haha the marksys came in handy yesterday for mil when she needed some new jamas! oh thats a shame altho ive heard good things about the mlu over ur way too!

super i wished my boobs would grow! sometimes they get a bit hot and itchy and i think maybe this is it then nothing!

AnnaBegins · 25/06/2015 22:36

Super I've gone up 3 cup sizes Shock so hoping not to go up any more!

Had my 25 week midwife app yesterday (at 26 weeks) and all is fine, measuring exactly average! Was nice to hear a heartbeat again but seemed a rather pointless app seeing as I'll be there again in 2 weeks for the 28 week one!

Went to the mothercare baby event too, which was ok, good talks on car seats and stuff, but not great discounts and they didn't have the jeans I wanted and were kind of the reason I went... Still, I bought some bits and bobs so all good.

Baby has been rather active the last two days and today I'm feeling a dull ache low down on my bump so maybe there's some growing going on!

gaggiagirl · 25/06/2015 22:39

ginger they closed the mlu down. It was awesome and new and now all gone.

My boobs are so huge they hurt now.

Breaking news - DH saw the baby kick for the first time today. I cried BlushGrin

batfish · 28/06/2015 04:54

Aww stinkers that's lovely Smile

Stinkersmum · 28/06/2015 05:16

It is! I was a little worried as I hadn't felt baby move much at all yesterday. Then it started kicking off about 10pm and literally didn't stop until 3 this morning. I guess it's good practice.. Hmm #tired!

Ladypug · 28/06/2015 06:58

Aw stinkers that's fab! I'm on Babymoon but keep checking the thread so I don't miss anything. I'm getting more movement now, not real kicks yet but little bubbles or mini explosions inside! I've suddenly gone very pregnant!

Stinkersmum · 28/06/2015 11:36

The babys movements seem to be more deliberate now as well. I was dozing earlier this morning and a noise made my really jump - and my jump made the baby jump! I can almost predict now when it's going to move. It's rather weird, but nice. Although the actual feeling is quite icky still.

FernGullysWoollyPully · 28/06/2015 11:44

How lovely for you Stinkers!

I'm 26+2 and got my gtt tomorrow morning. Not thrilled about it. Had one with one of my other dc (can't remember which though!), absolutely rancid stuff they make you drink
I have to fast tonight but I still suffer quite badly with sickness in the morning when I don't eat which is filling me with absolute dread! I can see me drinking that jelly like muck and it coming straight back out!!

Stinkersmum · 28/06/2015 14:51

Sat here watching OBEM on 4od. Crying Blush. Has anyone started thinking about birth plans etc yet?

Superexcited · 28/06/2015 15:20

Fern I have my gtt in two weeks, I didn't have one in my other pregnancies but I have only heard bad stuff about the test (the taste etc). Not sure how I will cope with not eating until lunchtime as I am constantly ravenous.

FernGullysWoollyPully · 28/06/2015 15:29

Super - the stuff at my hospital is gross. It's like....not quite ready jelly, you know when it's still wet but slimy at the same time. I could literally chuck just imagining it!!

Birth plans? I'm planning on a home birth. Quiet and calming etc. But the midwife is being seriously unsupportive of this because I fall into the para 3+ category meaning I've had more than 3 pregnancies and run the risk of a PPH.

Superexcited · 28/06/2015 16:56

fern if you have diabetes will a home birth still be allowed? I'm hoping to birth in the MLU but I daren't go on the maternity unit tour until after the GTT in case they say I need consultant led care and to give birth on the hospital maternity unit.
I'm trying to be as good as possible with my diet now that the GTT is looming in the hope that the test will be negative (unlikely).

FernGullysWoollyPully · 28/06/2015 17:08

I have no idea but I can live in hope! I think that my result will be negative. The only reason I'm having the gtt is because my bmi was 0.2 over what it should have been and I've been really good diet wise. But I've had no contact with my midwife to ask what will happen if I do have diabetes. This is my fifth and she doesn't want to see me until 28 weeks.

Superexcited · 28/06/2015 17:13

It sounds like your GTT is just precaution then do you will probably be okay and hopefully will get your home birth. I'm having a GTT due to previous 10lb baby, previous baby born with low blood sugar, hypertension in previous pregnancy and high risk ethnic origin. My BMI is normal range though so at least there is one risk factor I don't have.

FernGullysWoollyPully · 28/06/2015 17:26

Yea I think so too. Crikey 10lb! My first was 9lb 2.5oz and I thought he was a big one! Bless you. I'm very fortunate that I've had no health issues during my previous pregnancies except for spd. Hopefully, that one risk factor you don't have will be the deciding one! Fingers crossed you get a good result too.

batfish · 28/06/2015 18:03

I had glucose test yesterday and sounds like I was pretty lucky with the drink - it was horrible but kind of like mega strong flat Fanta with extra sugar, definitely not slimy! It was a fairly boring experience with lots of complaining from the nurse about how shit my veins are!

Stinkersmum · 28/06/2015 19:27

Are these glucose tests standard for all pregnant women?
