Noticed we were getting a bit full in the last thread! Roll up, roll up for more scanning, puking, worrying and other distractions to take us through the first trimester! Grin

I'm a bit confused about when you get those risk stats. I thought you got then all at the scan? Is that right? I had blood taken last week.

afloat · 01/06/2015 21:27

mack PM me your email address and I'll add you to the FB group :)

Cheshirehello79 · 01/06/2015 21:38

Tree sparrow - I had bloods taken at my dating 8 weeks app and 12 weeks scan . I hope they don't do it again at 16 weeks midwife app and 20 weeks scan - hate needles :-(

ineedsomeinspiration · 01/06/2015 22:00

Treesparrow, when you go for your scan they'll check your within the right dates for the NT measurement to be done and if you are they do this as well as a specific blood test. If your dates are out and your too early for the nt measurement as I was with ds you get given a date to have the bloods only. The eight week blood test is a full blood screen to check iron etc. You do have another one of these further on in your pregnancy.

sweets for the stats dh gave me all the wrong info over the phone earlier! I have a 20 week scan on 16 th July and then growth scans on 8th October and 5th November. Also I'm in suffolk.

TreeSparrow · 01/06/2015 22:18

I had blood tests at my 9wk booking in and had a dating scan to confirm as I want sure of timings.

Then last week (at 11wk+4) I had the blood test that will go with the NT at the scan on Wednesday. I was told I'd get the results on the day.

I was just a bit confused why some people have scan and bloods all in one day...so presumably have to wait for results through the post?

ChandlersFarang · 02/06/2015 02:20

I think one thing I've learned from reading about everyone's experiences of NHS processes from afar is that every area (and sometimes down to every hospital!) does things very differently! I find that quite crazy given its meant to be a centralised national system, but there you go!!

OP posts:
shinysparklythings · 02/06/2015 06:28

tree like chandlers said it varies from region to region. I think most places do the nt and blood test on the same day less appointments needed that way and then you get the results through the post.

Currently wAiting for my 20 week scan date which will actually be at 21 weeks as my bmi is just over 30, even though I do not look overweight!Confused as it's the hospitals policy. Crazy thought but at that point I'll be over half way! Grin

Hope everyone is doing well, I'm struggling with work a bit, not the teaching side but all the other bits, I'd completely forgotten about three major things I should of done over half term, so having a bit of a panic now! Hmm

Withalittlesparkle · 02/06/2015 08:03

Shiny I wonder why a bmi of 30 pushes your scan date back a week. My community midwife and hospital midwife (cross border care) can't agree what my bmi is because they can't agree on how tall I am Hmm there's a 4cm difference in my height!!! The hospital midwife has my bmi over 30!!

My scan date came through which is when I'm 19w5d or something like that!!! Can't wait for the scan, we hope to find out what we're having, not bothered either way but it was amazing to bond with baby being able to call him a he rather than an it.

It also meant I could tell my nan before she passed away!

Hummingbird15 · 02/06/2015 08:15

That's strange shiny my bmi is 35 Blush and my 20 week scan is booked for when I'll be 19+6.... It is funny how they all do things differently.

hellsbells552 · 02/06/2015 09:18

My scan letter said have a full bladder, so i really just drank as normal in the morning, but didn't pee, and my bladder was so full the sonographer asked me to go and pee half of it out!

WonkyDonkBonk · 02/06/2015 09:37

Morning all. I'm on my way to my booking in appt now. I feel like I'm so far behind everyone else Sad

Hope everyone is feeling well and happy today.

ChandlersFarang · 02/06/2015 11:50

Don't worry wonky, I won't have my booking in appt until I'm 14 weeks! Lol. Joys of moving internationally during pregnancy.

I do have my 12 wk scan tomorrow though, eek! It's going to actually be at 11+4 and I have a feeling I might get put back a couple of days. So hopefully bean is big enough to be able to do the nuchal test!

Sweets27 · 02/06/2015 12:20

Good luck for booking in today wonky, and for your scan tomorrow chandlers!

chopsface · 02/06/2015 12:36

half of it?! Lol! Impossible! Once you're in flow you're in flow!

Jebel · 02/06/2015 13:20

Good luck wonky

Chandlers you should be fine at 11+4, my doc could measure it at 10 weeks although will measure again this Sunday. Good luck!

sparkle that is v weird about your height!!

hellsbells indeed, that is very difficult to half pee!

Sharonthewasp glad it all went well.

Now I have harmony results, I keep telling people and then freaking out that it is too early and maybe I should wait. I have another scan on Sunday (very spoilt with expat health insurance and an indulgent doctor who sees me every 3 weeks).

Cheshirehello79 · 02/06/2015 13:48

Good luck wonky

Well to change the subject I've got my big day tomorrow telling work and HR a bit anxious as not sure how they are going to take it .

ruislipmummy21 · 02/06/2015 14:33

Hi ladies, I am new to this chat. I'm 36, 10 weeks pregnant and have DS who is 2. I haven't had my booking appt yet so don't know what my official due date is. I've been off work for 3 weeks and on anti sickness meds which have started to work. Over the last few days I've had severe acid reflux and it's been really painful. I'm not able to get up and look after my DS so have had help but over the last few days I've begun to feel really down. I just can't seem to shake it off and feel like I'm trapped in this little bubble. My oh doesn't understand, so finding it hard to talk to him. I'm hoping this is just a phase and will pass over very soon, but for those who are a few weeks ahead of me, can you tell me whether your symptoms have improved and how you are getting along? Thanks

Fairydogmother · 02/06/2015 16:38

I've missed so much!

My stats have changed a little so I'll update. My 10 week scan was 8 May (my birthday lol) and my EDD was changed then to 28 November. 20 week scan is set for 10 July.

blueskygreengrass · 02/06/2015 16:45

Hello! Haven't posted for a while and you guys are already on another new thread! Sharing good news to help others feeling grotty and hopefully spur you on: I had my first ever scan yesterday and it was incredible. There's a real (very tiny) baby girl in there, jumping around and healthy (as far as they can tell at this stage). I didn't realise how advanced the technology would be. DH and I were both nervous and excited, it's our first pregnancy and we'd opted to take all the tests provided. But all is well and was a joy to hear heartbeat and see baby. Astonishing how in just 12 weeks us women can grow an entire person! Sorry to be a bit gushing (this might be making you vom) but after endless weeks of feeling so rough and tired, it all feels totally worth it! And, best thing is now we're ok, we've told our family and friends and can now celebrate.

ruislipmummy sorry to hear you're having such a tough time. My worst weeks were 8, 9 and 10, when I felt completely trapped in the flat/loo/bed, not being able to tell anyone and being under the radar from friends/family. Scraping through with work and crying off everything, no social life, miserable hermit. I also felt that I'd never shake it off and pretty down (thank God I'm in therapy). My DH was supportive, but I got fed up/angry telling him day after day that I felt the same and there wasn't much I could do about it. And no, there isn't anything for dinner cos I haven't been out and can't bare to cook or even think about food! It will pass and I'm glad you've got anti-sickness meds. I lived on Jacobs Cream Crackers, ate them in bed, at night, everywhere and watched alot of crap telly. Feel better soon x

Sweets27 · 02/06/2015 19:00

Hi ruislipmummy, welcome to the thread! Sorry to hear you have been feeling so down, though. To be honest I've felt a lot of ups and downs over the last couple of months and I think we can all put most of it down to hormones, so try not to let it worry you and just remember that pregnancy does crazy things to you. Even if it's not just hormones, getting pregnant is a big deal and we all react differently to it. A pregnant friend of mine with a 2yo has found it tough because she feels guilty not having enough energy to play with him - but she's doing a wonderful thing giving him a sibling, as are you. Hope it gets better for you though Flowers

Hello blueskygreengrass, nice to se eyou again - and how exciting that you can already find out it's a girl!! Really happy for you Smile

I've had a crazy day and not done any stats updating for y'all, but will try to get round to it soon Grin

S1mmy · 02/06/2015 19:32

Hi everyone, can I join this group?

I was in the November group, but been bumped to December. Currently 13+3 and due date Dec 5th. I'm a north west Londoner. 2 previous mcs so pretty nervous about this one. Had my scan last week and felt very lucky to see her all wriggly and active.

My symptoms have mostly disappeared. How the heck do you know your baby is ok until your next scan? If your symptoms have gone and she isn't big enough to be felt moving, how can you tell she is all happy in your belly until the 20 week scan....?.

Withalittlesparkle · 02/06/2015 19:50

S1mmy welcome, if it helps at 16 weeks you should have a mw appt and she'll hopefully use a Doppler

Withalittlesparkle · 02/06/2015 21:09

Ladies waiting for me to add you to f. Can you message afloat? My laptop has packed up and can't seem to add anyone via email on my phone

claremccrory59 · 02/06/2015 21:19

Sweets - sorry I haven't done any more updating recently. I'll try to get some done soon!!!
Cx

S1mmy · 02/06/2015 21:30

Hm, the wait from 13+3 to 16 weeks is long......
