Noticed we were getting a bit full in the last thread! Roll up, roll up for more scanning, puking, worrying and other distractions to take us through the first trimester! Grin

There we go! Awk sure we're flying now! If anyone else wants done this evening let me know Grin

ineedsomeinspiration · 29/05/2015 21:44

Babyfaced think i have managed to pm you from my phone.

BabsUnited · 29/05/2015 22:04

Thanks Babyfaced. I'd alluded to it I think but basically my DS was born at 30weeks and we now know he has quite significant motor delays, what his consultant and physio thinks is cerebral palsy (spastic diplegia, so just affecting his legs). It means he can't walk unaided yet and might not ever do, he's likely to need splints or a frame or maybe even a wheelchair. So while the majority of babies born early come out unscathed obviously we haven't so even more cautious this time round. I will struggle to cope with two disabled children and to be honest I'm worrying how I'll be able to cope with the one I have while heavily pregnant.

The few people I've spoken to so far in this pregnancy all seem to be sympathetic and keen to help get me to term which although isn't a guarantee we'd have a healthy child is certainly one less worry. Even just the logistics of having to visit a newborn in NICU/SCBU with a toddler at home will be difficult to manage. So am crossing fingers and toes it doesn't happen again Smile

Think I'll join the FB group after my scan, feel like am tempting fate too much otherwise

TheBabyFacedAssassin · 29/05/2015 22:21

Babs the fb group will be there for you just whenever you're ready. I can relate to you in a way with regard to the need for caution and worry. It's hard to imagine that things could actually go well when all you have ever experienced is when things don't go so well. I get that 100%. How old is your ds? What happened last time that caused you to deliver early? Are you receiving good care so far in this pregnancy? Sorry for firing off questions, you don't have to answer if you don't want to! But please remember we are here for you throughout it all and you can vent, worry, moan or laugh as much here as you need Smile

FlorIxora · 29/05/2015 22:52

Babs I'm so sorry to hear your DS was born so early. Flowers
I've no experience in any of this but I wanted to acknowledge your worry/journey. As BabyFaced said, you'll be more than welcome once you're ready to join. x

afloat · 29/05/2015 23:37

Hi All, sorry for not catching up properly. I think I just added everyone who PM'd me to the Facebook group, if it didn't work let me know!

ChandlersFarang · 30/05/2015 05:33

Babs thanks for sharing this with us. I don't have similar experience as this is my first pregnancy but i and others here really struggled to get pregnant, so having a struggle accepting something might go well is more common than you think, in the broadest sense.

Loving the facebook group already. Looking forward to us all being on there! Smile

Am in the hotel transfer minivan from Krabi airport to the hotel on Koh Lanta... I messed up though as I didn't realise part of the transfer would be by speedboat! Pregnant women aren't advised to take speedboats at the best of times but I've been specifically told not to jump around due to my cysts and the risk of torsion, so my poor lovely friends have agreed we will all stick together and take the highly unglamorous and slower car ferry over to the island instead! Hmm I am so uncomfortable with fuss and inflicting anything of my own onto other people at the best of times so am feeling so embarrassed! They have all been lovely about it at least. Lol. Hardly a big deal but so many hurdles crop up in pregnancy that i'd never even thought of! Grin

What's everyone up to this weekend? Are most of us feeling better now? Chops, Flor, any improvement today? I haven't thrown up since Wednesday so feeling quite smug about that! Grin

Chandlers - is the FB group totally private? Haven't told family yet and nervous about a leak!

Hummingbird15 · 30/05/2015 07:55

Morning everyone! Chandlers your friends sound lovely - you know you'd do it for them if the situation was reversed so don't feel bad. And Babs your nerves sound very normal given what you've been through. Have your docs been able to reassure you at all in terms of risk this time? We'll all be here to support everyone through the coming months.

Can I ask those of you who've had your 12 week scans, did you get told your risk of Downs Syndrome there and then? No one seems to have mentioned it post scab and I am really paranoid that I'm going to be high risk (based on nothing other than general pessimism probably!).

Hummingbird15 · 30/05/2015 07:56

Post scan not post scab!

Sweets27 · 30/05/2015 08:02

Morning ladies! Not caught up at all yet, very hectic afternoon yesterday but just to let you know that scan all good, bean doing well at 12+5 so my date's been brought forward to 5 Dec! Smile

Hope everyone else's went well.

shinysparklythings · 30/05/2015 08:05

babs sorry to hear about your previous experience, it's no wonder you are wary. I'm terrified and this is my first pregnancy. The fb group will be there when you are ready.

chandlers that's lovely of your friends! I hate to tell you this but you are pregnant and going to get a lot of fuss made!

humming I was told what my nuchal fold measurement was, but as it's combined with a blood test, the results take a while. The nurse said that if it's bad news I'll hear much quicker than if it's fine.

Plan for the weekend is to do all the things is planned to do over half term but didn't get round too! The next two weeks at work will be mental as we have lots of students in doing maths 5 hours a day, so my frees are stolen this week! The exams are on the 4 and 11 so after that things become somewhat easier Confused

shinysparklythings · 30/05/2015 08:07

sweets pleased to hear that! I think we've switched EDD's! I'm now on the 7th but was the 5th! Grin

Fizzie100 · 30/05/2015 08:22

Lovely news sweets I'm next week!

chopsface · 30/05/2015 09:43

Sorry to hear your tale babs but I'm sure you will cope just fine with ds and new baby. We just do, don't we? Have you been taking folic acid? It lowers the risk of spina bifida as I'm sure you already know, sorry Blush

I'm still feeling delicate this morning, like if I bend over or move too fast I will be sick! Before if I had nausea I could eat something and it would stop. Eating is no longer working, Confused

TheBabyFacedAssassin · 30/05/2015 09:55

Morning all!

Chandlers have a lovely weekend, and embrace being made a fuss of!

sweets congrats on positive scan!!

I'm not long out of bed, had a really good sleep last night which has been needed all week so now I'm about to get packed for our break away. Not exactly looking forward to the 2 hour drive though, there better be plenty of toilets along the way!

Am looking forward to some yummy meals out, I really fancy a steak. What are your thoughts on eating a steak cooked medium? I have read up on it a bit and from what I understand the risk is with the bacteria on the outside so as long as it is seated, if the steak is pink inside that's ok. Anyone else have any advice? I am trying to be sensible this pregnancy and not too precious, everything in moderation has been my motto so far!

Fizzie yep the group is secret so your friends list won't even know it exists never mind that you're on it!

TheBabyFacedAssassin · 30/05/2015 09:56

Haha that should read as long as it is seared! Not seated...

Fizzie100 · 30/05/2015 10:01

Thanks baby! After my scan next week I'll DM the relevant person to be added to the group. How exciting. I'm just enjoying a cuppa out in the garden before a days painting with DP. We are trying to get the house in order and will be swapping bedrooms around when baby comes so making an early start as the painting needs to be done anyway. Trying to get past the "will this jinx things" way of thinking and just think really positively. For those in the south of England have you seen the weather for next weekend?!!! 31 degrees apparently! X

TheBabyFacedAssassin · 30/05/2015 10:31

31 degrees?! I am v v v jealous! Though maybe not so much while pregnant...we are getting painting done too Fizzie though we are getting painters in to do it! Hats off to you for tackling it yourself. At the start of the year I will never forget my DH turning to me and saying, "the sooner you get pregnant the better, that means we'll get shit done around the house"!! And he is so right haha

abi2790 · 30/05/2015 12:15

Good afternoon everyone!

I've just had a letter in the post about my susceptibility to rubella. I wasn't immune with ds and after I had him I had the MMR yet I'm still not immune?! I know it's probably nothing to worry about as it's unlikely I'll come into contact with rubella but still it's frustrating that the vaccine isn't working!

Withalittlesparkle · 30/05/2015 12:33

Abi I had the same with DS! I had the MMR jab but was still susceptible! Wonder what will happen this time

hellsbells552 · 30/05/2015 15:19

humming - I got my results in the post today, 8 days after scan. Happy to post figures if people want, although it may not be good to have everyone comparing and worrying??? [Mine was low risk, but not a massive number compared to some.]

Jebel · 30/05/2015 15:35

Haven't managed to keep up with all the scan news but massive congratulations to all those who have had them.

My pregnant body has been savaged by mosquitoes while DD and DH are bite free. Am now paranoid about getting Dengue Fever. Oh that pregnant mind is so paranoid!

Will catch up after the weekend properly, hope everyone is having a good one.

MissMrsMummy · 30/05/2015 16:34

Hi everyone, just had a quick read back. Glad you're all doing well and the scan pics are lovely! Sorry I've not been on a lot, somehow MN makes me anxious at the moment! We had our early scan this week and everything is fine! Was lovely to see the little blob. I think time might move more quickly now :-)

orangemouth281 · 30/05/2015 16:38

babyfaced DH and I are going to Miller and Carter tonight and I was thinking the same thing, it seems silly to go there and not have steak but I don't like it well done!
