Hi TwoBeesInTheHive - I thought it might be you Grin

roughtyping · 02/05/2015 19:32

bluebananas

When we got BFP DH bought me flowers and a little soft bunny :) after the 12 week scan we bought little superhero babygros from M&S and yesterday I bought an 'I love my big brother' bodysuit. :)

LadyStark · 02/05/2015 20:01

I haven't bought anything yet but did have a mooch around the John Lewis baby department looking at pushchairs. Then gave in bought some pregnancy jeans from Jojo maman bebe which are proper denim, the new look ones I looked at last week were dreadful material so pleased to have found something better. They make me look pregnant though which is kinda odd as I look fine in all my other clothes!

I followed the shopping with a Nutella milkshake. Mmmm.

LadyStark · 02/05/2015 20:02

Must get an I love my big sister babygro, DD would love that.

Lauramum23 · 02/05/2015 20:03

awww ninja im so so sorry xxxx

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 02/05/2015 20:11

So sorry ninja Flowers

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 02/05/2015 20:13

I don't think I'll shop until after the 20 week scan, probably at viability week (24?) Although I don't have much to buy to get excited about...car seat, baby monitor, new mattress - not very exciting items! All DS's early clothes are unisex so we're pretty much sorted

TakesTwoToTango · 02/05/2015 20:29

Oh I am so sorry to hear that ninja Sad I can also echo that the mc boards here are very supportive. Sadly, I also have experience of them. Time will lessen the raw pain you feel now. And I hope in time, to see you back on this board.

TakesTwoToTango · 02/05/2015 20:36

I don't have much shopping to do either as I already have one of each, new car seat is about it. I will get some little bits for this one nearer the time, but I've not bought before 24 weeks previously. I am (in my book!) absolutely throwing caution to the wind this time though in that we have just moved house and I haven't put any of the new born essentials up in the loft, but put them all straight into what will be the nursery, all being well. If all goes pear shaped on weds I'll put it in storage then, but if the scan goes well then I fully intend just to set up and decorate the nursery at the same time as the other rooms in the house. I think I'm getting much more of the "what will be will be" persuasion in my old(er!) age!

rebbles · 02/05/2015 21:05

My thoughts are with you ninja xxx

CoffeeTwo · 02/05/2015 21:08

We'll buy the first thing for the baby after the 12 week scan like we did with DS.

We've already got most things we need but I'm hoping to treat myself to a new pram :)

doomclaw · 02/05/2015 22:55

I bought a couple of unisex newborn things a few weeks ago but firmly told myself they are for my DB and SIL who are expecting DC3 on 8th September

bugoven · 02/05/2015 23:01

Oh ninja I'm so so sorry. Love to you both, care of eachother Thanks

bugoven · 02/05/2015 23:07

Hen do has been a complete success. Was almost sick on the train and had to make a swift exit from the underground and insist I was having a panic but turned out others were happy to walk too.
I didn't even mention I wasn't drinking so no need to think of an excuse and no one noticed. Simple Smile

Focusfocus · 03/05/2015 08:05

ninja if you're reading this, there's lots of people keeping you in their thoughts today. Much love.

So sorry Ninja Sad

SnozzberryPie · 03/05/2015 09:50

Hello all, just marking my place on the new thread. I've been on holiday for a week and not been able to get online so just trying to catch up on all the news.

So sorry for your loss ninja.

10 weeks here and still feeling tired and nauseous on and off.

Southwestwhippet · 03/05/2015 10:28

Please can I join, feeling brave enough to commit to the thread now as according to my calculations I am 12 weeks tomorrow. ?? Have my scan on the 12th May, slightly frustrating having to wait until 13 weeks but hoping for a good picture to make up!

This is officially DC2 for me, I have a DD age 5 but also a DSS age 3. my EDD is 16th November I think but all will be confirmed next week. [excited].

sickness and tiredness definitely starting to ease now, hope everyone else starts feeling better soon, I definitely remember the 2nd trimester being the "fun" one for me, hoping it will be the same this time.

TwoBeesInTheHive · 03/05/2015 10:37

welcome southwest your scan date is the same as mine!! Grin the 12th cannot come fast enough!

in other news, I fainted this morning Sad I knew it was coming so I sat down on the floor and called dh for help bit it's still a horrible feeling. thank goodness it didn't happen when I was alone with the kids!!Shock

BleachedBarnet · 03/05/2015 12:10

Interesting to hear people are doing a bit of shopping already, I kind of want to but every time I sit down to make a list of what I need it's overwhelming. We'll be starting completely from scratch, with a nursery to decorate once DP's brother has moved out.

I know that you don't actually need much stuff at the beginning, my mum and dad were young and poor and certainly didn't have much, but I turned out just fine Smile. I do live in a middle class 'bugaboo-mum' type-area though and much as I try not to let that influence me, I feel myself wanting to buy everything! I certainly don't have the budget to do that.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 03/05/2015 12:38

I think the thing with buying too much is you don't know your baby's personality until they arrive. DS has always refused a hat, so we got hoodies, hates bouncy seats. So a lot of it is trial and error.
Also you don't know how big they'll be so a few clothes / nappies in each size are fine to start with. I know so many mums with boxes of size 0 nappies in the attic!

TakesTwoToTango · 03/05/2015 13:14

Ah but the shopping is part of the fun and the pre-birth bonding process for me. I don't mind ending up with a few bits that barely get used (and can be resold or passed on to friends) as for me, I find it worth it for the pleasure it gives me and the feeling of calmness and control it gives me to feel I'm 'preparing' for the baby's arrival (heaven knows, there's very little I can control about the rest of the process!!) Grin You are totally right that babies don't need much 'stuff', but this mummy does Wink

ninjabeer · 03/05/2015 14:26

Thank you all for your kindness. Am feeling stronger today. Just taking one moment at a time. Good luck with all your scans.

cryingbabymess · 03/05/2015 14:37
