My scan didn't need a full bladder in fact I went literally just before and it was fine! I drunk loads during the day though as I had to have the blood test for the combined test and I'm not very good at them as apparently I have deep veins so I wanted to make sure I was hydrated!

Good luck with the scans girls it is so exciting!!!

SnozzberryPie · 04/05/2015 09:45

Last time round my scan letter said I needed a full bladder, except they were running about an hour late. I had just given up and gone for a wee then I got called in. And it was still fine. This time I won't worry too much!

PooSweats84 · 04/05/2015 10:27

Morning all! Sorry I've been quiet, it's been a rather busy weekend. Knackered now, and with a stinking cold to boot! On the scan letter subject, mine said not to empty your bladder 90 minutes before your appointment, so they're all really different! We've told a few people this weekend now that the scan is out of the way, and unbelievably, nobody had guessed despite me looking like I'm 6 months gone already! I must've done a better job at hiding it than I thought! It's still not quite sinking in that it's really happening though, I hope it does soon, and the fear wears off and I can start enjoying it all!

Karmanna13 · 04/05/2015 10:40

My letter said don't go for a wee less than an hour before the scan but nothing about having to drink. So I think there are two days coming up with loads of scans (tomorrow and weds). Good luck to everyone!

tootsroots · 04/05/2015 12:45

I go on hols from the 8th (15weeks) to the 25th (17+3) and have treated my self to a jojomamabebe maternity skirt as bump is bound to appear with holiday food ( Indonesia !) and time and freaked I would not
Fit into work clothes when I returned!

That place is pricey but sooooooo
Nice and the quality is so much better than new look the only other place I looked! First proper crikey - I am pregnant present!

Dh and I decided to not buy a thing for the alien until 24 weeks possibly longer!

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 04/05/2015 13:07

I think the full bladder matters more if you've got a high bmi, makes it easier to see the baby (pushes it all forward or something). My scan was first thing so I just drank what I usually would and it was fine.

I successfully got away undetected at a wedding this weekend!

mrscatmad31 · 04/05/2015 13:44

Just got my bounty pack (the second one) not much in it Sad
Starting to get excited now as seems real since my scan Grin

PooSweats84 · 04/05/2015 14:27

mrscat , you're not the only one with Bounty pack disappointment, they're really awful at the minute aren't they?! One tub of Sudocrem which was tiny and a load of leaflets in mine, oh and a Pregnacare pen!

Anyone else having really odd vivid sex dreams lately?! I can't remember the last time I slept properly! They aren't all filthy, some are just crazy weird. I had one dream a few nights ago that stuck with me the rest of the next day it was so disturbing!

SnozzberryPie · 04/05/2015 14:42

I haven't had any bounty packs yet, but iirc they were pretty rubbish last time. Even the sudocrem was useless as only metanuim (sp??) Worked on dd's nappy rash.

Yy to the weird dreams although most of mine involve desperately searching for a loo and end with me waking up needing a wee.

CishAndFips · 04/05/2015 15:38

oh bugger bugger bugger. just had pate on toast amd then thought oh crap im pregnant i cant eat that. oh bugger please reasure me im over reacting

TakesTwoToTango · 04/05/2015 16:02

cish I'm in USA and over here they advise pg women to eat liver for the iron and pâté is not on the banned list (unless it's been sitting on a deli counter). Grin

SnozzberryPie · 04/05/2015 16:20

Cish is pate banned because of listeria? (I don't eat meat so don't pay much attention). If so listeria is VERY rare, so don't panic. I ate lots of banned cheeses in my last pregnancy and was fine.

If it makes you feel better, I went to see the lambing the day before I discovered I was pregnant this time and drank a fair few Wines

BlueBananas · 04/05/2015 16:32

Pate is banned because I the amount of vitamin A in it
Cish I wouldn't worry, there's not much you can do now, just try to avoid in future

CishAndFips · 04/05/2015 16:54

really takestwo thats interesting. i thought it was snozzberry but heard someone mention the vit a. who knew u could overdose on vitamins. i certainly will be avoiding from now on blue

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 04/05/2015 17:00

It's both listeria and vitamin A. Two types of vitamin A- plant and animal based. Animal based can cause problems. Listeria rare and vitamin A only a problem if you eat liver-based food regularly. You'll be fine!

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 04/05/2015 17:00

I was craving pâté this morning.

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 04/05/2015 17:08

That should have said pate. Why can't the mn app cope with accents? Irritating.

CishAndFips · 04/05/2015 17:49

thanks everyone will stop stressing now, well about the pate anyway Grin

roughtyping · 04/05/2015 18:16

I ha e been craving crusty bread and pate so I'm a bit jealous!

yes to weird dreams - had one the other night where I had twin brothers who were both Kit Harrington and my dad was Liam Neeson!

ChicBabyP · 04/05/2015 18:45

Just checking in and I can't believe we are already at page 10! You ladies can talk!

Ninja, so sorry to hear your news, take good care of yourself...

Welcome to all the newcomers [waves]
Where are all of today's scanees? Hope everything went well for you all...

12+4 here and nothing much going on. I've definitely got a bump now but still trying to hide it as haven't told anyone yet except family. I hate the attention so we'll see how long I can go before someone notices...

I had to give a urine sample just before my scan last week and was no problem for the scan... So I guess everywhere is different.

annatha · 04/05/2015 19:47

Hello lovelies, just a flying visit as we're in the middle of moving house and the only internet access is when I nab DH's phone for a bit. I'm paying for nonexistent 4g Who thought that moving house while pg and with a 6 month old in tow was a good idea?!

Good luck for all the scans tomorrow! I've got my 2nd 12 week scan (turns out I was only 10 weeks last time) on the 18th but now I've seen the little jellybean floating about I feel much less anxious.

I'm off to rummage through boxes for my hairbrush, I haven't seen it since Wednesday...

Crumbelina · 04/05/2015 20:04

Oooh, I'd love some pate right now.

Popped to Waitose on Saturday to buy some crusty bread. It had to be poncey artisan stuff, not even Sainsburys Taste the Diff would do. Toasted and buttered it and smothered it with jam. That and a proper coffee is going to be my new Saturday morning ritual.

Hope everyone is well. All I can think about is food at the moment. Stops me missing red wine.

Lauramum23 · 04/05/2015 21:46

Yes to the very weird dreams I dreamt my other half was as gay gay could Be last night (he's totally not btw!) and it was so so real and very disturbing! I've had so many weird dreams lately but it's often to do with bursting for a pee.Smile

At my scanning place ( local hospital) they are like obsessed with drinking 14 litres of liquid before scans I mean you literally can't walk! Maybe the receptionist hates women and does it from pure evilSmileGrinSmileGrin

goodenoughmum88 · 04/05/2015 22:14

Evening!
Booking in tomorrow and scan on Wednesday, think I'm 12+1 today ish, give or take, will be a relief to finally tell some people and stop trying to breathe in/wearing control pants/wearing loose shirts!
Re; the fluids before scan last time around (this is no.2) I was advised a pint of clear non fizzy liquid, which is a whole lot less than a litre?!?! (Was still an effort to hold in).
Re; the food etc. I was really strict last time around, until I went on holiday to sardinia and saw lots of gloriously pregnant Italian women chucking back cured meats and soft cheese, and decided if it was good enough for them....!

Dixiebell · 04/05/2015 22:20

Yes yes to the dream about searching for a toilet! Torture...!
