Felt we might need a new thread to get through the night feeds and labours!

Been there... well not over the shoulder, that's impressive! I get the let down then DS pulls off and squirts himself in the face... queue me dealing with a surprised crying baby and milk going everywhere, whilst laughing. At least it's something to laugh at!

smogsville · 04/05/2015 20:32

Been there Penguin! Hilarious.

Yes good idea re moving at end of thread. To the postnatal one that's already up and running presumably?

Congrats Brum!

Cinnamon glad you're feeling more cheerful good for you for getting out and about.

daholster how goes it with the cold?

Thanks for all your comments about the rolling. It does seem v odd, I'm sure DD didn't roll until she was five months. He's been rolling onto his side since he was born but not all the way onto his tummy except for this one time. Will try the tummy time idea and see what happens. I can't see why he would be particularly strong as he's not massive or anything. Hopefully just a weird one-off.

Yes smogs might as well move to the thread that's already there :)

Hope everyone is getting some much needed sleep. I've had about 3h which I know is good so far but after over 7 weeks I'm wondering if I'll ever sleep longer than that ever again!?!

OP posts:
cinnamongreyhound · 05/05/2015 02:45

Yes you will PenguinPoser! Hard to believe right now I know!

Have woken up with a dead right arm, feeding ds isn't helping!

FiRaffe · 05/05/2015 02:51

I've got a sleeping baby in my arms.... He should be feeding but he fell back to sleep after I picked him up from his basket. I'm too scared he'll wake up screaming if I put him back in his basket and wake DH up. Guess i'll see how long I can stay awake for!

RL20 · 05/05/2015 03:16

Same here FiRaffe! If only it was as simple to safely sleep while they're in your arms...I would have no sleeping problems then! He looks so comfortable Confused.

Have just had to rush off to the loo with horrendous stomach ache. Not had that since pre-pregnancy, forgot what actual non pregnancy stomach ache felt like Confused. Hoping I haven't got a big and it's just the fact that it's only my 3rd post pregnancy poo Confused

Lauren82000 · 05/05/2015 03:17

Bum change Fi? To wake him up a bit for a feed?

I'm having a very sweaty night, on top number 2 so far! It's gross and I only have this last to left that's clean Confused

PenguinPoser · 05/05/2015 03:36

I'm sweaty too Lauren! Doesn't help that it was 21 degrees in the bedroom so I've opened the window. Have also had to discard my top and just put a crop top bra on instead.

Hmm tricky Fi I think you might have to risk putting him down but totally know what you mean.

Oh dear RL hope you're ok!

Well after being up to feed since 1.45 I fed, cuddled, put down sleeping baby at 2.45, went to bed 5 mins later heard her be sick in the pram (still not sleeping in the crib!) so she's now had a change of clothes, sheet and blanket (I woke DH up to help!) and then she was sick some more now feeding again so the cycle starts again. Hopefully if I burp her well after she's fed this time she should be ok. I don't have any more clean sheets in the right size! She was soooo cute though smiling away at DH while he

Oops - while he changed her clothes!
Yaaawwwwnnnn.

cinnamongreyhound · 05/05/2015 03:43

Rubbish about the sick PenguinPoser! I was just thinking how Sams poo's have settled and he's only going a couple of times a day now when he went in his clean nappy, as I changed it he wee'd, caught most of it though!

I don't wear anything do no clothe changes Lauren82000 but yes to the sweaty wake ups! Worse but is going back to a cold damp bed after feeding Sad

Back to waking 10mims after feed crying so sleeping bag wasn't the reason for it stopping!!! Had to resettle him 3 times after last feed, each on 10-15mims after he was fast asleep when I left him. First time resettling after this feed now.

PenguinPoser · 05/05/2015 03:52

Fingers crossed he stays settled cinnamon!

DD now has the hiccups....

OP posts:
cinnamongreyhound · 05/05/2015 03:57

I'm back up!

Don't you just love night time hiccups PenguinPoser! Confused

PenguinPoser · 05/05/2015 04:26

Annnnnd we had a major poonami explosion. Which on the plus side got rid of the hiccups Hmm I've shoved her back on boob in the vague hope of feeding her to sleep.....

Maybe we should become nocturnal cinnamon?! Shame it's not really conducive to normal life...

cinnamongreyhound · 05/05/2015 06:44

We were up again at 5.30 but I fed him in bed and both dropped off before the alarm went off at 6.15, Dh got up and I'm just getting in the shower now.

FiRaffe · 05/05/2015 07:08

Oh dear ladies. It would be so much more manageable if they were consistent!

We had a great night for a change, so good that the TV auto turned off rather than being needed to keep me awake... The subtitles at least provide some entertainment at stupid o'clock, I do now know too much about the Asian business market!

Hope everyone has a good day, even if the night wasn't great.

RL20 · 05/05/2015 07:53

I do feel better Penguin, thanks. Just a bit of an icky tummy I think, just as I'm typing this I'm starting to get it again Confused.

FiRaffe I know what you mean, I tend to have QVC on through the night if were having a bad night. I know more about their stretch jeans than anything now!

brummagem · 05/05/2015 08:19

It would appear that feeding a 9lb baby with just colostrum is akin to running non stop up everest. Shame every time I pick him up he falls asleep at the comfort of cuddles. Haha. Flowers

FiRaffe · 05/05/2015 08:46

Oh dear brummagem! At least yay for newborn cuddles.

RL20 · 05/05/2015 09:56

Feel like I had no sleep last night inserts matchsticks into eye lids Shock.
He slept a lot in the day yesterday due to the big walk we went on so think I'll have to start waking him up for a feed and nappy change in the middle of a big sleep so that he might sleep better at night. Wishful thinking?

Health visitor is out today for the first time since DS has been born. I met her before when I was pregnant and she was nice, not too overpowering etc, only, it's not going to be her Hmm. She just rang me to say that you know that problem she has with her knees (no I don't, but I'll go along with it anyway), well she can't get up stairs so is sending someone else. So quite nervous now. And thinking I'm probably going to have to go through all of the questions that the previous one asked me before. And I can't even remember half of the questions I wanted to ask, either.
Who has had their first visit and how did it go?

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 05/05/2015 10:06

Morning all. DD decided on 2-hourly feeds last night despite a good week of a 3-5 hour sleep in the middle of the night... boo!!

We had our first health visitor visit last week RL and it was fine. She just asked a few questions but nothing much and gave us leaflets about clinic for weighing and sessions we could go to and immunisations etc.

Lauren82000 · 05/05/2015 10:19

RL mine was relatively quick but I have done this before. She even said nothing had changed in the last 4years so i can just plod along like I remember.

They usually fill their forms in asking a few questions like DOB and occupation then go on to explain nearest clinic and groups. If you have a childrens centre nearby she will register you at that one and you can attend sessions and get LO weighed there. It ends up very much all on you to get baby weighed and seek help after the initial few visits. I have another one next week and I think that's it till they start doing the development checks. I have yet to decide if I should go get her weighed on Thursday or not. I suppose I should and get into the habit of going and perhaps meet some new mums in the area. I'm quite looking forward to trying the knitting group on a Tuesday morning, but thats at a childrens centre a short drive away. It couldn't have been the one at the top of the road could it? Hmm

PenguinPoser · 05/05/2015 11:04

Hope your hv visit goes well RL. Mine was fine she went over lots of the same stuff again like safe sleeping etc (just smile and nod!). She told me about local children's centre and the breastfeeding group and baby clinic there.

Horrible day here all wet and dingy outside. Was going to go see my gran but she's back in a&e with complications from her broken arm so I might just stay in the house for the moment. Having cuddles with dd when she's snoozy between feeds is amazing. Except when I need the loo!

RL20 · 05/05/2015 11:13

Thanks all. She's due at around 2pm so will update afterwards. Wondering whether they will weigh him or not as he was weighed at the hospital on Sunday when I took him about the rash.
Will be interesting to know about local groups although don't know whether I'll be a bit nervous to go and meet other mums. It took me a few sessions of antenatal class to feel comfortable and then before you know it they were finished!

PenguinPoser · 05/05/2015 11:19

I generally don't like meeting new people RL - but now that I've been to a weekly group for 4 weeks I'm stressing that I might miss it tomorrow as I want to go! There's always a ready made topic of conversation with the babies Smile
