Felt we might need a new thread to get through the night feeds and labours!

RL20 · 01/05/2015 18:31

Ivegotacavetroll hope you're ok? I'm on day 10 and have felt like that up until today - although I'm not saying I'm not tired, in fact I'm still very tired but can function slightly better as last night was the best nights sleep so far, (feeding every 1.5/2 hours and sleeping rather than up all night constantly!).
Yes it was daunting - mainly for the fact that I can't see DS! I know it's safety that they are better that way, but when do they get to be forward facing? Is there a mirror of some sort I can get to put on my back seat so that I can see him?!

Sounds like you've had a busy day cinnamon!
Will be a busy bank holiday Monday too by the sounds of it! Glad you feel that you are up to it, though.

Has anyone else that's had an episiotomy and/or tear and had stitches had a look at them yet? I have midwives checking mine every few days but haven't braved looking at them myself yet! Shock

RL20 · 01/05/2015 18:38

Oh Daholster! Brew
Don't worry about the house!
Although easier said, I know, because I would feel the same. But people won't expect your house to be tidy, so unless your OH is going to blitz it then don't worry about it. I'm looking around now and the hoovering, washing up, clothes washing and other things need doing but I can't be bothered and DS is still asleep on me anyway. And ok watching hollyoaks whilst I have a minute to myself so the housework can wait!
I'm sure it will be a lovely day and the main thing is that your little one has a nice birthday. Would she care or even notice that the house is untidy? Brew

daholster · 01/05/2015 18:43

It just looks so grotty and dirty and little ones are coming to play on the floor si it all needs sweeping and hoovering. Thank you though Flowers

Am doing jacket potatoes for tea. Sod it!

Lauren82000 · 01/05/2015 19:11

RL you can get a mirror that clips on the seat so you can see. I'm sure you can grab one on amazon.

Daholster can you not get your DH to whiz the Hoover round in the morning if it's playing on your mind.

We had steak, homemade chips and salad for tea. Was pretty tasty even though I had to talk DH through how to cut a potato into chips. Hmm My god he is an idiot! DD has gone off to my mums for a sleep over so it's just is 3 which is nice. About to go raid some more chocolate out of the fridge those 6 squares weren't enough.

cinnamongreyhound · 01/05/2015 19:39

New guidelines say that they should be rear facing until 15 months RL20 Shock was 9 months or when they can sit for 30mins unaided.

Sorry you're feeling so rubbish daholster, kids won't notice the mess/dirt they'll be too busy in the sand pit!! Try not to stress just enjoy your dd's party! Shame on your dh, give him a good prod in his aching legs Wink

RL20 · 01/05/2015 20:22

Arghh so pissed off with OH. He's still not back so a hormonal text message has been sent his way AngrySad.
It's lucky that I am in with DS on my own otherwise I'd be inclined to go and take up smoking again - which obviously I don't want to do!
It annoys me that he's not here when he's only 10 days old, why would he not want to be? Angry.
Going to bath DS on my own for the first time instead and try and settle down for the night.

Thanks RE car seats - that seems like a long time! Will have a look for a mirror, then.

FiRaffe · 01/05/2015 20:26

Hope you can at least enjoy the party daholster.

Cinnamon you are amazing!

I think I had about 3 hours last night from 9pm to 8am.... am so shattered and barely able to function. So glad it's the weekend and DH will be here and able to help. My parents are great but it isn't the same.

Lauren82000 · 01/05/2015 20:46

Apparently I have a baby that does not want to sleep. Been wide awake since 5.30! Been a right boobie monster too. Feels like I've done a boob every half hour since 3. First time she has proper cried too. Usually she just grunts and whimpers a bit.

And that last boob did the trick!Grin

smogsville · 01/05/2015 21:18

daholster your DH can surely manage a quick Hoover in the morning if it's bothering you.

Cinnamon yes you are being very impressive with all your activities today!

Going to try this nasal aspirator I picked up this arvo on DS as he sounds very congested. But I'm nice and warm under this blanket and I can't be arsed to go and get it.

Lauren you do make me laugh when you talk about your DH! We had oven chips with onion rings and chicken kievs tonight. All slung in a baking tray together and accompanied by a shed load of broccoli to try to even things out.

Lauren82000 · 01/05/2015 21:42

Smogs we had Kiev this week too but I'm afraid the only thing we had that was green was the herb bits in the garlic butter Blush. my DH is a proper idiot though, I have to coach him through most cooking basics. He has no common sense when it comes to cooking, I don't really get it as both his younger bros can cook, they even have basic knife skills. Hmm he did do good today with the house cleaning so I suppose I can let him off. Wink

cinnamongreyhound · 01/05/2015 21:47

Ready for my bed now! Sam just gone off, been feeding almost constantly since 8 so made up for his 4hr gap this afternoon! Night all

PenguinPoser · 01/05/2015 22:55

RL I hope your oh has returned, also feeling Angry on your behalf! I don't think the men understand at all how hard it is looking after a baby all day.

Cinnamon you simply are Wonder Woman! You've done like a weeks worth of activities in a day! Puts me to shame as I haven't left the house. Wish I had gone for a walk.

Daholster I hope you manage to enjoy the party. I reckon the person who will notice the house the most is you so try not to stress.

Oh dear Lauren really sounds like your DH could use some cooking lessons!

Thinking of those in labour Flowers can't wait for some more baby announcements.

Feeling a bit off tonight, nauseous and tired. Hoping I just need some rest rather than anything else. Had expressed some milk (1oz a day Hmm ) last 3 days so DH has just given her the 3oz to try and give me a break. She still wouldn't settle and wanted boob so I'm up again. Fingers crossed a full tummy sets us up for a few hours anyway!

No he's not back yet Sad feeling stressed and don't know what to do!!

PenguinPoser · 01/05/2015 23:06

Sad RL are you and your ds ok? Have you been in touch with him - I think you'd said you texted? If it was my OH he would be in the spare room tonight!!!

OP posts:
RL20 · 01/05/2015 23:16

DS is fine he's asleep on me going to try and put him in Moses basket in a minute - not that I will sleep - it's driving me insane!! Sad
He's just rang me but I'm guessing it was in his pocket. Have tried to ring about 1000 times - don't know what to do SadSad

PenguinPoser · 01/05/2015 23:24

Yeah I was going to say try and sleep but it's easier said than done. Sending Brew and Cake. if you don't think you'll sleep try settling yourself on the sofa with some rubbish TV on and rest. Really your OH should be doing the night feeds to let you sleep!

OP posts:
Wineandchoccy · 01/05/2015 23:40

RL I hope your OH is home by now or at least been in touch. I agree with penguin that he should be taking his turn at doing some of the night feeds to give you a break. I hope your DS settles in his basket and you can rest even if you can't sleep.

penguin hope you feel better after a sleep.

daholster I hope your dd has a lovely party tomorrow, ignore the cleaning.

Dd has been a little darling today, she has been weighed and put 3oz on in 3 days so we have to go again on Tuesday but if she has gained again won't need to go until the week after. She has fed really well and gone straight down in her crib or Moses basket, DH and I also went to bed for a couple of hours so I feel like I can cope with the night ahead.

I am feeding in bed with a hot chocolate and shortbread, yummy Grin

RL20 · 02/05/2015 00:16

OMG he's lost his phone I can't believe it!! I have just rang again and someone in a club has answered. Luckily they are nice but I can hardly pick it up off them. Fucking great!!!! AngryAngrySadSadSad

Wineandchoccy · 02/05/2015 00:32

RL can you call somebody he is out with? I'm annoyed on your behalf what an idiot Angry

Lauren82000 · 02/05/2015 00:43

Typical male getting carried away instead of thinking about his responsibilities.

Think last night was a fluke as we are back to where we started aka sleep on mummy. Hmm She does seem much more unsettled and windy than yesterday. Perhaps I'll buy some infacol tomorrow and try that.

RL20 · 02/05/2015 00:51

So pissed off wine! I messaged someone in Facebook that he was with and he told me who he is with now but I don't have their number so just a waiting game. So annoyed Angrybut not as annoyed as he will be when he realises he has no phone!!
Have let DS on the bed for cuddles instead seeing as I won't be going to sleep anytime soon!

Talking of Facebook, is the group still going? How do I join and what happens?

RL20 · 02/05/2015 00:52

Yes Lauren you're totally right there

cinnamongreyhound · 02/05/2015 02:23

Sorry to hear you're having to worry about a grown man who should know better RL20! Hope you're asleep now.

I think you just have to do more when you have other kids PenguinPoser! I would happily have stayed home today but dh was worried about going on the trip on his own Confused. Don't want to let ds1 down for his party or ds2 down on his trip. Looking forward to a quieter few days!

Well sleeping bag didn't do as well tonight but still just over 4 hours from last feed so not bad, will see how he goes down after the feed!

RL20 · 02/05/2015 02:29

No sleep yet cinnamon, I tried but DS is unsettled in his basket tonight and I can't stop overthinking Sad

Lauren82000 · 02/05/2015 02:31

Jealous cinnamon I've been feeding every hour again. Confused Have just tried putting the basket mattress on the bed so far she has gone down on it ok but I have no idea how I'm going to move it all without waking her up. Might have to wake DH to help. Got to give her at least 15 mins like this t make sure it's a go. Shock
