Felt we might need a new thread to get through the night feeds and labours!

They are definitely contractions now, about 10 mins apart, I'm not too uncomfortable in between.

My mum is on her way and is going to (try and) sleep at MILs house, which is literally a 2 minute walk, then if we need to go to hospital in night we can phone her and she can come to look after DS.

Think I need to have antibiotics 2-4h before birth, but DS came fast once proper labour started.

Watching a film.

FizzyBubbly · 26/04/2015 21:42

Ooooh good luck Cowbiscuits!! That sounds like a good plan you've got there re your DM

cinnamongreyhound · 26/04/2015 21:54

Good luck cowbiscuits, look forward to baby news in the morning Grin

daholster · 26/04/2015 22:06

Good luck cowbiscuits, hope you aren't too uncomfortable Brew

PenguinPoser · 26/04/2015 22:32

Good luck cowbiscuits Smile hope you get some rest and then fingers crossed meet your baby soon!

Have been out for dinner with dh which was lovely but feel so bad for leaving dd! She was with my mum so fine - but had all the milk I left (4.5oz) had loads of wind so was really unsettled when we got back and she's only just settled now (touch wood) after 10 mins on the boob. Cuddling her to a deeper sleep now hopefully then to attempt bedtime... I'm exhausted!

Hope you're not too uncomfortable after your sweep fizzybubbly.
Thinking of kismac too!

That makes me scared to go out Penguin - that's a lot of milk!! I bet you missed her but your mum must've loved having her?
I'm keen to go for a curry or s/t with OH and do the same but often the only chance I get to express is around 5pm-have you noticed it's really hard to get milk off then? I've not been able to eat much and I wonder if it's making it worse..so I'm lucky to get 60ml..

ChickenMe · 26/04/2015 23:24

Good luck everyone for whom things are kicking off..

daholster · 26/04/2015 23:45

penguin did you see my post about fluconazole?

cowbiscuits · 26/04/2015 23:47

Hello!

Hope Kismac is OK sounds like she's been having a terrible time of it.

I'm not in lots of pain in between contractions yet, but I'm pretty sure I can't sleep through them so I'm about to run a bath.

Looked at the Moses basket and thought. Holy crap I'm gonna have a tiny baby. WTF am I letting myself in for?!?!

Lauren82000 · 27/04/2015 01:24

Got a right headache but someone isn't letting me put her down. Has pretty much been on the boob since we went to bed. Lucky DH has nodded off in DDs bed when he went to put her back down. Only thing is I need a drink as I've drank the big glass I brought up already.

Passed a pretty big blot before so maybe the renewed pains I'd been having were working on getting that loose. Confused no heavy bleeding or anything.

IvegotaCaveTroll · 27/04/2015 02:21

My DD was just finishing a big feed and suddenly vommited it all up all over my boob- literally all of it. I am soaked and she was soaked and bed is soaked. What a waste and now she will not be full and so will not settle!!

Hope things are moving on kismac and cow biscuits!

Here's toveveryone having a better night than me xx

daholster · 27/04/2015 02:38

Oh dear cavetroll... I'm up too, not got to sleep yet, in bed late cos of preparing for dd's birthday (jelly and cake making, present wrapping, room decorating...) And this meant ds was due a feed when we got to bed. Winded, sleepy, did nappy, seemed to settle then as so often 5 mins later grunting squawking and wriggling threatening to properly cry, nothing will settle him despite a burp except more flipping boob. I just want to go to sleep... He settled OK the first week. Harder work than dd was but at least he went down. What has happened?! Argh!

cowbiscuits · 27/04/2015 02:39

Oh cavetroll hope your dd settles soon. Awful when you see milk wasted like that after all that time spent feeding!

Ive given up on sleep, contractions worse lying down, they are a bit easier if I'm standing or sitting on the ball. Wish I could sleep upright.

Can anyone remember what the advice is about contraction timings before i ring maternity triage? I dont feel close to going in yet but want to know when to phone them. They are about 4 minutes apart and lasting about 40 seconds but I'm coping in between OK. They are just about bearable if I rock and breathe but not if they get much worse.

I spent over an hour in bath and got fed up of it but I might have to get back in. Been awake since 6.45am.Sad

daholster · 27/04/2015 02:39

PS cowbiscuits you have let yourself in for a lot of hard work but an awesome ride Grin

daholster · 27/04/2015 02:44

My maternoty unit said 2-3 mins apart lasting a minute unable to talk through them. That was rubbish, mine never did that, was every 2mins lasting 45secs, one mw suggested they weren't long enough but I was getting hardly any respite - and they never lasted longer than that just close together. When you start to feel you can't cope, ring. Most places have a three strikes rule so if you ring three times they invite you for assessment anyway -though you don't sound like a "fusser" it might be reassuring to know Flowers It sounds like you are doing really well. Make sure you stay hydrated and keep some calories going in while you can. Good luck x

cowbiscuits · 27/04/2015 03:17

Thanks! When I had DS I was doing all this in the daytime, and they actually made me go and see my community midwife for an early labour assessment, at which stage I was 3cm and I had him less than 4h later. So thinking it might move fast again.

Husband is asleep, I think. I want at least one of us to rest! I'm going to get back in bath.

Hope you all get some sleep

FiRaffe · 27/04/2015 03:32

Ooh good luck cowbiscuits.

Sorry to hear your lo sicked up all the milk cavetrolI. DS did that earlier but not nearly as bad as you.... He was covered and got a good chunk on me and a little on the covers, but thankfully not bed change worthy.

DS is being the same and wanting to feed all the time. DH is back to work tomorrow so he's gently snoring next to me but it's really not helping me sleep!!!

PenguinPoser · 27/04/2015 04:44

Daholster thanks that's really useful about the fluconazole Smile that book sounds good potentially one to invest in for going back to work. And will check out the site - thank you. Seeing GP for postnatal check on tues so will see how things are then.

Chicken I was surprised about the amount of milk she got through too. Wonder if it would have been a cluster feed evening if I hadn't been out. Or she just wanted comfort from boob maybe as she was sound asleep within 10 mins of going on. I know you said you only have time to express late afternoon - that's generally not a great time I don't think. Morning is best for me using manual pump while dd feeds on other side. Although I don't want to over stimulate supply so I expressed the 4.5oz over 3 mornings just a little at a time.

Oh no Cavetroll it's so soul destroying when that happens. Hope you've managed to get her settled.

Hope the bath has helped cowbiscuits

Apologies ladies been awol trying to get used to this baby business and dealing with the after effects of a shock emergency section.
Up breastfeeding. Have had to add some formula at times as my supply isnt great and she gets too hungry.
Otherwise all is well hope everyones doing ok. Ive missed alot, a whole thread i think but i will try and keep up.
Good luck to those still waiting. It really is worth the wait! Smile

FiRaffe · 27/04/2015 05:55

Don't worry Holly, it's much harder to keep up once baby is here! Congratulations on her arrival and glad you are finding your feet.

cowbiscuits · 27/04/2015 06:15

Still at home. Just rang hospital , contractions between 2 and 5 mins apart lasting about 45 seconds. She said to give it another hour and see if things increase morre or bvecome more regular. And to keep reviewing situation hourly. I probably can last a bit longer here.

Husband now getting dressed. I feel better that it's daylight and morning . DS will probably wake up soon and I'll get DH to take him to MILs house.

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 27/04/2015 07:00

Good luck biscuits!

Sorry about the sick cavetroll! These babies are a bit yucky sometimes!

DD has been an Angel all night. think she wore herself out with all the feeding/screaming last night and has been asleep in her own bed since about 2. I'm here with my boobs out waiting for her to wake up!

cinnamongreyhound · 27/04/2015 07:08

Moving along well cowbiscuits! Hope it's not much longer for you.

That really sucks IvegotaCaveTroll! Hopefully it's a one off and you managed to change the bed quickly!

My friends dd always did that PenguinPoser, took loads of milk from a bottle and was then unsettled until mum got home, she's then bf for a minute and be fast asleep! Think she just needed the breast to settle and somehow a bottle didn't cut it, not that she was starving hungry! Hope you had a nice meal anyway. We went out when ds1 was 4 months and dh said I may aswell have not been there as I kept checking my phone and only talked about ds1!

My midwife said clots are usually after a period of relaxing where blood accumulates and then you become active so you dislodge it rather than something coming away Lauren82000, hope you got some sleep and your headache has cleared. If it doesn't then do mention it to midwife.

Happy birthday mini-daholster Cake

I couldn't get on last night while up feeding, kept getting a biscuit that said page can't be found so I was all lonely SadWink

Ds1 is 8 today!! I'm so proud of him, such a lovely kind boy, hope he has a lovely day despite being at school! He has asked to go to Pizza Hut for tea so no cooking for me again today, yay!!

Only today and tomorrow off then back to work boo Sad

cowbiscuits · 27/04/2015 07:50

I don't really know what's going on, the gaps have widened over the last hour and a half, with the strength varying between more painful and less painful than before. I want things to get moving.
