Felt we might need a new thread to get through the night feeds and labours!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
smogsville · 25/04/2015 19:50

How can one girl whine so much? It's literally been almost nonstop since wake up. Am talking about DD of course, little DS has been perfectly lovely today.

Two birthday parties, plenty of time with a very interested visiting auntie and me and DH bending over backwards. What is the point?! Pains me to say it about my own daughter but she really is being a little sh*t. Sole consolation is that she is behaving well with other children at parties and nurseries, so it really is all about winding her parents up.

Oh well, takeaway en route thank The Lord.

daholster how is your DD? Not what you need ATM.

FiRaffe · 25/04/2015 20:10

Oh dear smogs - hope she gets used to her little brother soon and settles down.

Lauren82000 · 25/04/2015 20:12

I know what you mean smogs DD1's default voice with us is whine and it really grates after a while. Forever telling her to stop whining.

DD2 is feeding at least 15 times in 24 hours if not more only on for 5-10 mins each time but I'm getting loads of poos. It's an odd colour mainly green with little bits of darker green in it. I'm presuming it's just flushing her system out still. (Day 4 today)

I've not been hormonal this time and seem to have skipped the day 3/4 blues. I just desperately want a day where I don't have to go out and have no visitors either. Just a nice relaxing pj day but that's not going to happen anytime soon maybe Tuesday or Wednesday. Sad Finding it really hard work juggling everything. Not even had time to give DD her first bath. Just been top/tailing her as and when.

kismac · 25/04/2015 20:15

Oh jeez, Daholster. Hope everyone is ok.

We may be back in business. Contractions are about 4 min apart and have been for last 30 mins. Bloody hurt!

cowbiscuits · 25/04/2015 20:20

Kismac! Sounds promising! Hope you're not suffering too much, but at least if they painful they should be doing something useful.

smogsville · 25/04/2015 20:28

Lauren was going to ask about first baths - when are we meant to do it? DS hasn't had one at 9 days old. But then his cord peg thing only fell off yesterday.

No idea when I'd find the time to actually do said bath obvs. No way could I put him in with DD as she likes to lie down, swivel around, make waves etc.

Sigh. At least she is being nice/ indifferent to him. It's obviously better that me and DH suffer the brunt of it! I know she cares about him, she told DH that we had 'to be careful of him as mummy had made him for us and she can't make another one'.

alittleegglayonaleaf · 25/04/2015 20:43

Kismac good luck I'll be rooting for you!

Lauren -)- that is one positive thing of being rushed off your feet with visitors and obligations that that stage passes you by! :)

Lauren82000 · 25/04/2015 20:44

I'd only thought about the bath as both my mum and my sister asked me if she'd had a bath yet. I'm sure we only bathed DD1 at day 10 or something. If we've had a lot of visitors I make sure I wipe her with cottonwool and water on her head/face/hands so she isn't carrying everyone's germs around with her. I'm just a bit wary of her stump it's now come away round the outside but still attached in the middle. Wish I could take the clip off as it's obviously getting caught on her nappy/ clothes as she is being passed around. It's not red or swollen looking so I'm sure it's ok (will double check with mw tomorrow) but it still freaks me out a bit that it's coming off before it's ready. Then again maybe it is nearly ready to come off. Confused (Neurotic mother alert)

alittleegglayonaleaf · 25/04/2015 21:03

Lauren I would wait about that length too so their skin can get the goodness from the protective layer it comes out with - I was meaning the 3/4 day blues stage that luckily went by unnoticed :)

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 25/04/2015 21:06

We did first bath today on day 9, mainly because she'd both pooed and puked on herself this morning and top and tail didn't seem enough!!

alittleegglayonaleaf · 25/04/2015 21:12

LittleGreyCat - those lovely gifts that they leave us ;)

cinnamongreyhound · 25/04/2015 21:20

We bathed Sam on the first day home. All of my boys have been overdue so none have had any vernix to not wash off anyway!

Midwife took ds2's clip off Lauren82000 as she said it was getting pulled out by it and just left the cord bit.

Exciting kismac, keep us posted!

Sorry dd has been a pain smogsville, ds2 was very good at the party but fell over and hurt his leg so was then a bit of a pain and was getting tired too.

Dh just made me a cuppa but I think I'll take it to bed!

daholster · 25/04/2015 21:28

Thanks for all your concern about dd. Her teeth seem OK cos she bit off a chewy piece of bread and ate all her dinner. The ice cream went down well. For a while when she bit on her cup she kept getting blood all down it Sad She has a huge bruise on her face, a fat lip and her upper gum is purpley black and swollen above both front teeth and the left side, it looks horrid. She's such a brave little trooper. Just in time for birthday photos... Shock Don't care so long as it isn't still hurting. She is sleeping at the moment with calpol and ibuprofen on board.

Dh says he has never felt so ill as for the 30 mins afterwards and feels he was in shock. Now he just feels really sad. It is just one of those things but it's horrid when you feel responsible for hurting your little one.

On a similar note ds suffered at the hands of dd last night - I felt a bit bad. He was having no nappy time and was covered in towels. Dd started pulling them off, and got to the bottom one without disturbing ds. I thought she'd finished and said to leave him now because he was sleeping and she went back suddenly and grabbed the last towel. Only she grabbed the whole or little man's package and yanked the towel off with bits in hand, the poor little boy woke up and howled for the next 20 minutes with a very sad face!!! I felt guilty for not stopping it! And today he has a bit of a bruise on each side of his scrotum poor boy Sad Still, he seems OK!

And I am OK thanks, I got a 2 hour nap this afternoon while granny and grandpa (my mum and dad) were here Grin

Lauren82000 · 25/04/2015 21:44

Well just changed bum and it's practically hanging off now. Can see shiney new skin underneath but doesn't look angry so I think it's probably ok. Perhaps the mw will take the clip off tomorrow so it'll stop pulling it.

FiRaffe · 25/04/2015 21:48

Good luck kismac!

Glad your DD is okay and hope DS isn't too scarred by the towel incident!!!

DS won't stop screaming at the moment. ... hope it won't be one of those nights!

alittleegglayonaleaf · 25/04/2015 21:53

FiRaffe can ds not be soothed at all :( ?

RL20 · 25/04/2015 21:54

Smog I gave my DS his first bath yesterday at day 3, with help from my mum. Was going to give him one tonight too but have held off as fingers crossed I'm trying to get him into a routine of feeding every 3 hours and then settling so I don't want to disturb it yet Confused.

Thanks for poo advice - I think his whinging is him trying to poo. He's only done a small one this morning and not since. If midwife comes tomorrow I will see what she thinks.

When is the cord meant to come off? It's hanging by a few threads so I think in tomorrow's bath it might come off. Tomorrow will be day 5.

RL20 · 25/04/2015 21:54

Oh FiRaffe hope you're night goes ok. How old is little one now?

Wineandchoccy · 25/04/2015 21:59

Hope your dd and DH are ok daholster

Good luck kismac it sounds like something might be happening

I'm in bed feeding dd although will have to get up to empty the washer when it finishes. DH is out at his football teams presentation evening he is drinking shandy though because he said he doesn't think a new baby and a hangover will be a good mix.
I've had a Mcdonalds for tea because I couldn't be bothered to cook.
We have been given a load of baby clothes today some very cute things in size 3-6 months so can't wait until she is a bit bigger.

We bathed on day 5 because she has loads of hair and it was still a bit gunky and topping and tiling wasn't getting it clean, I just used plain water though. Midwife recommended pure olive oil to massage on her skin after her bath because it looked a bit dry.

I hope we have a better night than last night because I'm tired already.

brummagem · 25/04/2015 22:21

Oooooh kismac fingers crossed! Hope it all goes smoothly for you! Flowers

Lauren82000 · 25/04/2015 22:30

Glad it's not just mine hanging on by a thread and I mean that literally, just done bum again and she kicked the clip while I was getting in her creases, I could see just a tiny stringy bit holding it on in the middle. Once that bits dry it'll fall off.

Need to slap some more cream on my nipple it looks really sore with no top on it but it only hurts in those first 30seconds. She has been on a feeding frenzy since we got home from soft play. It's been every hour and both boobs! Oh god she just filled the nappy I've just changed Sad pooping like a trooper.

daholster · 25/04/2015 23:13

Good luck kismac!

Lauren82000 · 25/04/2015 23:50

Think it's going to be one of those nights. She is not going down in her basket. Hmm

FiRaffe · 26/04/2015 00:07

I have just about got a sleeping baby love. DH tried for ages, to let me get 5 mins sleep but he only settled as soon as he came to me. Now I feel bad as I think DH is sad but not that it is anyone's fault. doubt he'll go in his basket though!

He's 2 weeks old now RL - definitely having a growth spurt I think as he has cluster fed the last couple of nights for a few hours thankfully before bed. Wish feeding would have solved the crying but we tried that several times!

Will make the most of this peace for a bit....He will want more food in less than an hour I think!

FiRaffe · 26/04/2015 00:08

Sorry also meant to say I hope your DD settles too Lauren.
