Hello everyone Smile how are you all, you glowing puking lot? Grin

annatha I am the same - also 13 weeks on tues! And trying to sort out what I'm eating. Lots of chicken and veg from the shop. Tonight was turkey, roast veg and potato croquettes. Bought a bag of stir fry veg to have one night with noodles and soy sauce. Have some eggs for a quick eggs & toast dinner, have frozen stuff for a couple of nights too, and more chicken and salad-y stuff. Lunches this week are wholemeal pitta bread and tins of weight watchers tuna and sweetcorn (because they're portion sized, not xos they're weight watchers!), lots of veg (carrot sticks, cherry tomatoes, cucumber and Sugarsnap peas), fruit (melon, grapes, pears over the week). Breakfast will be cereal or eggs & toast or eggs & fruit & almond butter. I did also get ice cream though!

Should add that I'm a really fussy eater and don't eat a particularly great range of food!

This week I'm going to email my Union rep to find out exactly what my maternity entitlement is - no one at work seems sure. I thought it was 90% for 13 weeks then SMP for 27 weeks, but a couple of people have said 90% for 13 weeks then 50% for 6/12 weeks, then SMP - no one seems sure.

annatha · 26/04/2015 20:02

roughtyping that sounds lush. When someone tells me what to eat, I'm fine and will enjoy good food but left to my own devices I just paw at the cupboards. Last night dh got fed up and made pasta but he's out tonight and I've had a pepperami and two cookies for dinner Blush I'd go to the coop for some proper food but dd has just fallen asleep.

ehealy · 26/04/2015 20:34

Good Luck everybody especially Blue. 1 week and 1 day for the 5th May Gang.

Lauramum23 · 26/04/2015 20:41

Aww can't wait for scan news!
I'm 10 weeks now! And have my booking in on Wednesday so hopefully I'll get a date for a scan too! Then I can finally tell my children before someone else does!
I think I have another cold bummer I had one a couple of weeks ago but it was chesty cough cold this one is in my nose and I wake up with the worst dry mouth cos I can't breathe thru my nose!
Well done to toots husband! My dh bawled his eyes out when our first was born!

ShortLashes · 26/04/2015 21:42

Hi everyone, I've been away for a few weeks and not sure I can catch up with all the news! Had my 12 week scan last week straight after booking in appointment. All fine but starting to freak out about how little I know about looking after a newborn! Any tips on any straight-forward down-to-earth reading material? There is so much of it I don't know where to start!

annatha · 26/04/2015 21:57

shortlashes I got the One Born Every Minute book last time and found it helpful as it took me through pregnancy, labour and the first six weeks. I would just say to learn the basics- nappies, baths, feeding and some settling techniques and not to worry too much about following a strict plan or routine. All babies are different and I wasted a lot of time and sanity trying to get my dd into a routine that she did not agree with! MN is really helpful and after you've had the baby your hospital will make sure you're confident before letting you go home.

StAlphonsosPancakeBreakfast · 26/04/2015 22:05

Oh, fingers crossed for lots of lovely scan pics tomorrow, will be thinking of you all!

I am just happy to get the weekend over, it's OK during the week when I'm busy, but weekends are just terrible here - nobody to talk to or see. I'm deeply homesick at the moment, which isn't great what with the hormones.

ShortLashes · 26/04/2015 22:39

Thanks annatha. I shall look that up x

TakesTwoToTango · 27/04/2015 01:16

Hi all, good luck to everyone with scans tomorrow, especially those who are feeling nervous or have had bleeding.

I also had more spotting last night but trying not to worry. I also look at least 6 months pregnant today it's crazy! I kept expecting my daughter to ask if I have a baby in my tummy! Was also spending the day with others so now have awful stomach ache from trying to hold it in all day Blush

Hope scans all go well today Flowers

LadyStark · 27/04/2015 08:15

Good luck for all the scans today! Looking forward to some pics later.

Crumbelina · 27/04/2015 08:39

Morning all,

Just checking in to say good luck with the scans! Some lovely pics on here and more to come!

All very quiet here. I was 14 weeks on Saturday and it all feels very, erm, normal. No glow as such, but no nausea, and less irritability/ridiculous tiredness. That said, my skin still looks bloody awful.

Didn't gey my bonus increase at work so told everyone I was pregnant about 5 mins later. Smile Still felt a bit strange/early though.

Crumbelina · 27/04/2015 08:40

Oh, and good luck Blue!

BlueBananas · 27/04/2015 08:52

Thankyou all!
We're on our way now, had to get the kids to school first, I'm so nervous I feel sick as a dog!
Good luck to all the scanners today
I'll let you all know as soon as I find out anything

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 27/04/2015 09:33

Good luck all!

I'll second the one born every minute book - having a baby. It's nothing much to do with the show but it written by a doctor so it's quite factual which I liked, I found some books quite patronising. Have a flick through a few at the local library and see what ones you like

Karmanna13 · 27/04/2015 11:18

Good luck to all the scanners today, can't wait for some pics!

newbian · 27/04/2015 11:42

Hi everyone - hope you're all doing well, and it seems quite a few of you have scans you're looking forward to!

I am 12+5 today and am feeling GREAT! Today is the first day I haven't felt exhausted. For the past few weeks I'd been sleeping 9 hours at night and then napping when possible for 1-2 hours during the day. I not only woke up naturally at 8 hours, but I had enough energy to go to the gym. I had actually forgotten what "normal" feels like - and I am praying this is the way I'll feel going forward and not back to the deep fog I'm emerging from.

Having blood test for Down's Syndrome this week so hoping that goes well and we get good results.

TwoBeesInTheHive · 27/04/2015 13:02

Can't wait to hear about all the scans today! I have passed the 10 week mark now yay! double figures!! 1/4 of the way through!! only seems like last week I found out at 3 and a half weeks! looking forward to heading into the 2nd trimester and getting my energy back.
when I lay on my stomach I can feel a hard ball in my lower abdomen now! so things are definitely growing in there! anyone else feel this?

TakesTwoToTango · 27/04/2015 13:18

Yes I can feel that twobees.

Yey for emerging from the fog newbian! I went to the gym last night too but felt like I was moving though lead and never got into my rhythm, so gave up and came home. Hoping for that lifting of he fog soon. 11+1 today Smile but still getting more pink spotting Hmm

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 27/04/2015 13:23

I'm looking forward to the second trimester too! Last time it was pretty awful so hoping I get some of that energy this time. When does it officially start, 14 weeks? I'm gradually getting better but still have rubbish days with nausea.

I was also trying to remember when you can stop with folic acid? I know I can continue but I keep forgetting my pregnacare and would like to feel less guilty about it if I do

And when does sleeping on the left start? I think it was when I got big? I'm rubbish at that too

You'd never think I was pregnant last year, I've forgotten everything!

Focusfocus · 27/04/2015 13:26

Where are all the scanners?! Or should I say scanees?

I think I'm just about doing okay with food (my parents and my entire country of origin would disagree).

Have had two eggs, a wholemeal toast, a grilled tomato and a glass of kiwi smoothie for breakfast.
Snack was almonds, seeds and apricots.
Lunch was bit of white rice with prawns and some veg In Thai red curry sauce. With yogurt made into a tall cold drink.
Will have some apples with almond butter in a bit as starving already!
Dinner will be homemade Piri Piri chicken and chips :)
Dessert will be glass o milk with Horlicks.

Yes, I eat all that!!!! I am a pigggggy. A preggie piggy!the scales haven't changed that much though. About 2 kgs in 13 weeks. Trying to gain a total of 9 I guess.

Focus that sounds very healthy. I'm also just about doing okay I think though having to eat with constant thoughts of what is going to keep e digestion moving - no white carbs Sad, starting the day with softness and prune juice - yuck! It's starting to have a slig effect though I hunk (hogh wood!). I'm quite keen to restart my pregnacare if I can tolerate it. At the moment I'm only taking Folic acid and Vit d.

I'm also hanging around on the thread waiting for scan news!!

TakesTwoToTango · 27/04/2015 13:36

Goodness me - I seem to have completely lost the ability to type! Congratulations if you made it through that last post with any idea at all of what I was on about!
