Laura, I went straight out to Topshop and bought 3 pairs of maternity jeans at about 6-7 weeks! My usual ones were making me feel nauseous and so I had no qualms about slipping into them - they're lovely! Haven't bought anything else yet - will get through the summer in maxi dresses, jeans, vest tops etc.

Blueblink, I know the feeling. Sad I have a report due on Friday and I'm sure I'll have to work until the early hours tonight and tomorrow (doesn't stop me from being on MN though). Blush

I'm telling more people at work now at 14.5 weeks but even that feels a bit early!

I've heard some pretty awful stories about Bounty on here and any rep approaching me in the hospital will be given short shrift (and that's being polite). Smile

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 29/04/2015 14:56

I've luckily not experienced anything like the mumsnet stories but she was quite annoying. I guess most people don't stay in as long as I did though.
As long as women know they are sales people as some women think they're something to do with the NHS. Thrn they can get the samples or tell them to get lost as they choose
I must say the postnatal ward is confusing with all the people wanting to see you. In a typical day I'd have tea lady, bread and jam lady, various midwives, baby doctor, baby weighing lady, breast feeding advisor, nursery nurse and sometimes aneathetist, hearing test person etc. You kind of assume everyone that's coming through the curtains has a job to do. If I hadn't read mumsnet I wouldn't have known she was marketing

Crumbelina · 29/04/2015 15:12

Oooh, bread and jam lady? She'll be welcomed with open arms. Smile

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 29/04/2015 15:16

She was the best! It was bread, not toast which was weird but I would've eaten anything to be honest Grin and it was kind of childlike, in a nice way, a jam sandwich. Because I was in a while I got to know some of the staff. One used to save me a strawberry yogurt. Smile
No...I'm not obsessed with food...honest Blush

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 29/04/2015 15:18

I forgot rice krispies lady! I loved her too

Crumbelina · 29/04/2015 15:39

Oooh fab! Forget the baby - this is really something to look forward to! Smile

I'm going to have to buy some really fresh, crusty white bread, real butter and a pot of jam and spend the whole Bank Holiday eating thick slices of it.

bugoven · 29/04/2015 16:10

Abbey I was in for 6 days and my favourite were chatty cleaning lady (who never cleaned just chatted because I'd always done it myself to pass the time - I couldn't sleep) and tea with snack lady. Awww =)

cryingbabymess · 29/04/2015 16:26

Crumbelina you've really got me wanting thick crusty bread with butter and jam mmmmm

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 29/04/2015 16:40

The baby is good too, but it's a long time before they bring you toast in bed!

BowiesJumper · 29/04/2015 16:50

Now I REALLY want bread and jam.

BlueBananas · 29/04/2015 17:20

Helloooo!
Am I the first scanee of the day? I want pictures people!
Everything is fine, scan went on for ages because baby was upside down with it's hands in the air Hmm having an absolute rave in there!
And they've moved my due date again to the 4th, so I'm 13 weeks on the nose today, skipped my whole 12th week this week
We've just told the kids and they are SO excited telling us all the things they'll be helping with when baby comes Grin so frigging cute!
Anyhoo here is the little troublemaker once it finally decided to lay properly ...

BowiesJumper · 29/04/2015 17:26

Aww what a great picture BlueBananas! Very clear. Congratulations.

Obviously lots of us have naughty babies...one literally did a rolly polly whilst we were looking at him/her.

BowiesJumper · 29/04/2015 17:28

I mean mine, not one. I don't have two in there!

LadyStark · 29/04/2015 17:35

Great scan photo!

A stressful afternoon here, I've had brown spotting since the initial bleeding I had a week ago and had a rush of blood this afternoon and hot footed it to the local EPU (St Thomas' - couldn't recommend them enough). Baby fine and having a whale of a time, refusing to lie in a good position for sonographer again! Annoyingly, my placenta is very low and that's what is causing the on and off bleeding I am having and it could go on for another 4/5 weeks [sigh]. Reassuring that they have identified a reason but doesn't make it any less stressful having to panic every time I go to the loo.

Supposed to be off to the theatre tonight but have left DP to go with a friend as I am emotionally exhausted from all of the worry. I am going to have toast for tea Grin

BlueBananas · 29/04/2015 17:36

Thanks Bowies Smile we do have a naughty bunch don't we! Let's hope their awkwardness wears off before they're born!
I got my 20 week scan date today aswell, 17th June - feels like hardly any time away!

BlueBananas · 29/04/2015 17:38

Thanks LadyStark and sorry to hear you're having a stressful time, but like you say at least you have a reason now and maybe next time it happens you'll automatically feel calmer because you know what's going on...hopefully

LadyStark · 29/04/2015 17:43

That's what I'm hoping for Blue! That and the pesky placenta moves away from my cervix like it's supposed to.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 29/04/2015 17:46

Sorry to hear that LadyStark I had placenta praevia too with DS. Take it easy if you can, no heavy lifting and pelvic rest (no sex!) are supposed to help. I think it gets officially diagnosed at 20 weeks and more than 90% move up. Hopefully yours will get out of the way

BowiesJumper · 29/04/2015 17:53

That must have been very stressful LadyStark! I'm glad everything is ok. Enjoy your toast!!

Mine is on the 19th June BlueB, we'll have another flood of lovely photos!

Yes, here's hoping they behave better after birth...

Jucymyname · 29/04/2015 17:58

Blue beauliful scan picture Smile.
I had mine today, felt so relieved that baby is really there I cried. Then spent long time waiting to see midwife and consultant. I'll be taking aspirin to prevent high blood pressure and pre-eclampsia, anybody else?
Baby was wriggling so much Dr couldn't take second picture for nuchal measurement. But if I'm at risk they are going to ring me sometime next week. All in all good day Smile.

BlueBananas · 29/04/2015 18:32

Yay Jucy lovely pic!
Look at your baby all stretched out & co-operative, the scanner kept huffing today because mine wouldn't take it's chin off it's chest

roughtyping · 29/04/2015 19:11

crumbelina what are you doing to me Shock I need crusty bread and Lurpak now!

blue and jucy love your pics!

flyingsprocket · 29/04/2015 19:47

I had my scan today too! It all went well, baby was mostly face planted upside down in child's pose. I didn't want to have a picture because I had a MC at 17 weeks the last time & still find it hard when I see scan pics from then. The sonographer was so lovely & said I'd definitely want them later, so she put them in an envelope & wrote "To Be Opened at 17 Weeks" on it Smile

Lovely pics blue & jucy

TakesTwoToTango · 29/04/2015 20:20

organs to the successful scanees today!

Sorry you are having a hard time of it lady. Fingers cross it settles down and moves nicely up out of the way.

mrs how are you feeling today?

TakesTwoToTango · 29/04/2015 20:21

Organs??? Where did that come from?!?' I meant congrats!!

Ps I told a friend today to ask her to look after the children when I have my scan next week. Feels v odd and a bit like tempting fate to tell before the scan though!
