Apparently pineapple juice works just as well as prune!

Got my scan tomorrow, it says on the letter 'an additional internal examination will be offered to you to assess your risk of pre-term delivery' Wtf is this all about??

BleachedBarnet · 23/04/2015 18:25

Love seeing the scan pics, keep it up! I've got mine next Friday, will be 12 weeks exactly.

I'm trying to get excited about it but feeling pretty nervous I must say...

mrsscarlettbutler · 23/04/2015 18:33

Just popping in quickly to say all fine with our scan, PHEW! Am so relieved. They also gave us our results for downs etc about an hour after the scan and that's all ok too.
Due date has been moved to 31.10 but annoyingly there was a typo on my scan report and it had my last period down as 8!days earlier than it was, but I'm just ignoring that she going by the measurement dates Smile

Karmanna13 · 23/04/2015 18:59

Lovely pic mrsscarlett, so clear!

TakesTwoToTango · 23/04/2015 19:45

Reay pic misSscarlet!!

I'm drinking prune juice here, have taken my first dose of a softener too, and as from today, am swapping my pregnacare for plain Folic acid for a few days until things sort themselves out. I hope!

TwoBeesInTheHive · 23/04/2015 19:51

woohooooooo!!!! the midwife FINALLY called GrinGrinGrin she's sent off my scan request so I'll be getting the date in the post sooooon, and if she has time she's coming to do my booking in tomorrow!! AND!! its the same midwife I've had for both previous pregnancies! hurrayyy Grin I'm happy hehe

BowiesJumper · 23/04/2015 20:09

I've never had an internal during pregnancy before- until labour.
Apparently it is routine to have one at every appointment in France.

reb2g08 · 23/04/2015 20:39

Twobees that is great!

Nope this is my first pregnancy and they said it is low risk so not sure why that is written on the letter? :s

reb2g08 · 23/04/2015 20:40

P.s what even is an internal? What do they look for?

Lauramum23 · 23/04/2015 20:48

They will be feeling the cervix maybe? But if you don't want one say no! I've never had one with my 3 baby's till they get you in the labour room then every tom dick n arrys avin a poke up there Grin. Wink
God I feel tired today!
My hair is also ready for colouring if only I could be arsed!? I may have to tho if I'm going to be hairdressing again in a salon Shock it's tidy enough I don't have roots but a few greys here and there.
I'll try and look at your scan miss Scarlett off the app xx

Lauramum23 · 23/04/2015 20:54

Awww lovely scan pic! How many weeks are you? I know around 12 obviously lol Smile

SnozzberryPie · 23/04/2015 21:12

Reb I have had a premature birth and no one has mentioned doing an internal. The question I would ask is what they would do about it if they did determine you were at risk? Otherwise it is something which could cause needless worry.

mrsscarlettbutler · 23/04/2015 21:14

thanks everyone Smile
lauramum I thought i was 12 + 1 but they dated me at 12 + 5
It's all a bit confusing tbh... do I go with their new dates now or is it likely to change again?

It's a very wriggly baby, she really struggled to get all her measurements - so weird to see it flailing around madly and I just can't feel a thing!

TwoBees glad you've finally heard from your midwife - hope you get a scan date asap!

TakesTwoToTango · 23/04/2015 21:18

Misscarlett, your dates will probably stay fixed now (apparently they can date from scans up to about 13 weeks fairly reliably as babies develop at more or less the same rate until that point, but later on, more variation occurs so they are less able to determine exact dates from scan measurements, hence why they usually stay with the 12 week scan date).

mrsscarlettbutler that'll be your due date now, even if the baby comes early or late that's the date that's used to calculate things developmentally, so when people talk about their baby's actual age and corrected age thats what their referring to. My dd arrived smack bang in the middle of my original due date and measured date though.

annatha · 23/04/2015 21:27

Sorry TakesTwo cross posted! Your explanation makes much more sense than mine haha.

Oh well annbag we are all friends now what's in a day or two?

As for due dates I never get too hung up on those they come when they are ready! My first was 4 days over second 12 days over and third well he surprised me on his due dateShock he missed it by 2.5 hours tho he was born 2.30am so only by a little bit! Oh god I can't believe I'm doing it all again!Shock

annatha · 23/04/2015 22:06

Annbag I was moved 5 days earlier with my dd and she turned up 2 days late. Do they always do scheduled sections exactly on the due date, because closer to the time you could perhaps push for your section to be delayed a day or two depending on how baby is measuring? My dates were a little sketchy though as I had one period between stopping the pill and falling pregnant. Thinking about it, I've only had 2 periods in 3 years as I only had one before the pregnancy. The lochia was a bit of a novelty which I very quickly get fed up of

Annbag, the egg takes around 9 days from ovulation to implant and you are fertile from about 4-5 days before ovulation to the day of ovulation itself. Conception should actually occur on the day of ovulation though.

I wouldn't panic about your dates- ultrasound machines do have a margin for error due to general inaccuracy, baby position, position of uterus etc.
Also if you are consultant led and having an elcs, they won't just give you a date- it will be a discussion during which you can tell them how you feel.

ninjabeer · 24/04/2015 08:11

Morning ladies. Is anyone else feeling paranoid that they've imagined their pregnancy? Just peed on another stick and yes it was positive so I feel slightly bonkers now. In other news it's Friday people. Whoop!
