Guy brush and mrsscarlet I know how you feel- after a period of change nothing has happened now! All symptoms gone, belly gone down as stopped bloating- really worried for scan tomorrow that there will be nothing there!!!

mrswishywashy · 23/04/2015 07:17

So good to know others growth has slowed down. The first nine weeks I had so many changes and was looking forward to a nice bump and now growth has stopped. Hoping its normal my scan is in eleven days.

Tootsroots how awful for you! But I would think of the 7 lbs as a bonus it's what I could do with off really I feel really fat and frumpy at the moment. But I bet you felt shocking, there seems to be a lot of sickness going around at the moment here too. Hope u pick up soon x

flyingsprocket · 23/04/2015 08:05

Can't wait til Wednesday for my scan impatiently stomps feet

Poor DP just found out about MMC yesterday, it had happened to a collegue at work. Now he's got something else to worry about!

Karmanna13 · 23/04/2015 08:10

Phew, finally caught up on the last two threads! We had visitors over from England for a week (DH's family) and I've been feeling rotten so couldn't keep up with the threads. The last few days I've been able to eat and feeling a bit more human but feel sick again today (9+4).

Wow, lots of news. Sorry to see we've lost another couple of people. Sad

Huge congrats to missmrs!

I also have my 12 week scan on 6th May at 7:20am!! Feeling a bit apprehensive as will find out if the other twin has caught up or not, although they said it most likely won't develop further..

Hope everyone is doing ok. Good to be back!

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 23/04/2015 08:14

karmanna sorry you're worried about one of your twins. What was the difference in measurement? I'm also pregnant with twins and one was measuring slightly smaller at 7 weeks (9.2mm and 8.4mm) but the consultant said the margin of error is so great in early scans that it was nothing to be concerned about. I'm very nervous about my scan though as I just have no idea what we're going to see- two heartbeats, one out none.
Fingers crossed for you.

mrsscarlettbutler · 23/04/2015 08:33

Oh glad it's not just me with no bump, feeling a bit reassured.
Have my booking in at 10am today then scan this afternoon so getting ready for a long day at the hospital. Luckily DH's sister is a doctor there so she's going to meet me for lunch as he's only coming to the scan not the rest.
So worried but glad today is finally here. If everything is ok I really hope they can find out why I've been bleeding so much because I think that might help make me less anxious.

ehealy · 23/04/2015 08:47

Good luck mrsscarlett and any other scans happening this week. It's going to be a roller coaster few weeks. Wishing you all happy beans.

Karmanna13 · 23/04/2015 09:09

Guybrush, thanks. Had my scan at 6+4 and baby no1 measured 6,8mm but didn't even get a measurement for the other on as t was tiny tiny. They said as it was early days and in very rare cases it can catch up but most likely wasn't meant to develop and so won't. I haven't thought of them as twins so I won't be too upset if there is no further development. I'm just hoping the first one is ok! Such a rollercoaster! In a few weeks we can hopefully all breathe sighs of relief!

I didn't have a noticeable bump with either of my first two until well after 20 week scan. Both times I remember thinking the sonographer would say, are you really 20 weeks, you have no bump?! But of course it's normal. Don't worry the bump really did come in the end!

Having said that I do think I'm pretty bumpy at the mo, but like TakesTwo, I think that's maybe due to my diastasis recti. TakesTwo, I was asking my midwife if it causes any problems in the next pregnancy. I have a bit of a herniated tummy button and it all feels a bit weird around there, I hate having anything touch against it. Have you ever done anything about yours? The GP wasn't much use, said do exercises but didn't suggest what, and I have read different things about what is good/bad for it. The midwife at my booking in said ultimately all you can do is have surgery, which sounds like it'd be a bit major! But maybe after this baby I'll have to think seriously about it.

Got my scan letter this morning. It'd been sitting there since last night and I didn't notice when I got in from work. You'd think DH might mention he'd picked up a letter with the hospital name on the front! Anyway, 14 May, 3 weeks today. I will be 12+4. Seems a long time to wait still!

Focusfocus · 23/04/2015 10:48

I have my 3 month nuchal scan tomorrow at 12 plus 2. I am very worried somehow not sure why. Both my private scans at 6+2 and 10+3 have shown perfect measurement for dates, a string and thumping heartbeat and I have had not even a single spot throughout these last three months. But. I. Am. Still. Worried. I just feel like they will tell me something went wrong after 10.5 weeks. But going by that then, I could then feel something went wrong after 13 weeks. Or 14 weeks. If you see what I mean. I know it's illogical. But there it is.

Good luck to all the scanners! Still petrified about mine on Monday (4 days! Eek!).

Toots sorry to hear you've been so poorly! Sounds horrid! Get well soon.

I already had a belly but I THINK it's getting slightly firmer just under my tummy button - so maybe that's the beginnings of a bump rather than flab, but who knows! Hard to say when you've already got a "well padded" tummy!

But at the same time, those with super strong stomach muscles won't show for ages yet (not that I'm in that category!). Maybe I should start with some stretches to strengthen it all Wink

Blueblink · 23/04/2015 11:25

Good luck scanners - can't wait to see some pics later!

mrsscarlettbutler · 23/04/2015 11:35

I'm now just killing time between booking in and scan later, not helping with the anxiety! Booking in was fine although looks like I will be consultant led as I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. My appointment with the consultant is next week so hopefully I'll find out more then - was very impressed with how speedily the midwife got that booked in this morning! I'm not sure how I feel about it really, on the one hand if I'm consultant led throughout then it must mean they want to ensure I have the best care for my condition. But on the other hand it obviously takes away a lot of my decision making/control? I will have no option of birthing suite etc, just labour ward. Oh well, maybe they'll see me next week and decide I don't actually need to be consultant led.

I was also super impressed with my blood tests - I usually faint so they make me lie down, but the room just had a chair. The woman doing it was absolutely amazing - I didn't even feel the needle go in, she was super fast and had whipped the vials away before I could see them. Have had a lot of blood tests over the years and I wish they had all be like that! (Realise it's a bit of an odd thing to be so impressed by!)

TakesTwoToTango · 23/04/2015 13:28

missscarlett glad the blood test went well! Good luck for your scan. Re consultant care, they might just keep an eye on you to check your condition doesn't cause any probs through your pg and assuming it doesn't, discharge you back to midwife led at the end - that's what happened to me last time around for something else. All is not lost!

dixie I did loads of exercises after dc1 and managed to reduce it from 4" to under 2". Then dc2 came along (all 9lbs 8oz or him!) and by the end of my pg the gap was white from the skin being stretched with no muscle support underneath. My mw was horrified -Hmm and said she was going to break with protocol for that trust and give me a sweep as soon as I got to my due date, but it wasn't needed in the end as labour started naturally at 40wks.

toots sorry to hear you've had a rough time. Hope you are feeling better soon!

Good luck to all today's scanees and hugs to those feeling anxious.

ChicBabyP · 23/04/2015 14:42

Toots I feel so bad for you with the gastro , it's horrible at the best of times but when you're preggers it must be even worse! Hope you're slowly feeling better. Take care of yourself.

To all the scanners, good luck!

To Those wondering about waste lines , I also didn't show till 20 weeks or so with my first. The bump was only noticeable to me when laying flat on my back and then it would suddenly pop up out of nowhere! (I was a size 8 at the time). Now it's been huge (from bloat) between 7 and 10 weeks but now it's gone down to almost nothing, so I guess it's normal for all of us. Although I am expecting to see a bump earlier this time as I've been told u show earlier second time around plus I'm having twins...
11 weeks today! NT scan next Wednesday...

Poppyninja · 23/04/2015 16:24

Hi all, wow been off this a couple of days and its filling fast! Can't believe we're over 640 messages already!

Great to see some good news re scans and tests on here :) happy days

I'm doing ok the last few days. (touches desk frantically) but nausea has stopped and my hunger has reduced - thankfully! as belly is rather bloated and current bump is def food related!

Don't know if this will continue but I'm enjoying while it lasts.

BowiesJumper · 23/04/2015 16:54

Just had one of my gingernut biscuits, nom nommmmm. Helps stave off the mildly sick feeling.

I AM going to dye my hair this weekend, I've decided!! I'll be 12 weeks on Saturday and everything I've read said it's ok and that to do any harm, I'd have to be exposed to much higher levels, on a more regular basis (ie like a hairdresser who might get it on their skin regularly). And boyyyy is my hair looking crap. Plus it's my sister's wedding next weekend so I can't attend looking this shocking! Will definitely do a skin patch test though.

CuntCourtIsInSession · 23/04/2015 17:05

Oh, some lovely scan news! And really great to hear that MissMrs

I think things are stabilising a little bit here nausea-wise, but I'm still just knackered. And foolishly hoping that drinking my prune juice out of a wine glass will take the full horror of it all away. Grin

Karmanna13 · 23/04/2015 17:07

I hear you Bowie, my roots are absolutely horrendous, definitely dying soon but I just can't seem to muster up the energy. I remember being worried about it at my last pg (even used pregnancy friendly nail varnish) but not so jumpy about everything little thing this time round, and over here I can't find any information that says you shouldn't dye your hair so I guess it's fine.

BowiesJumper · 23/04/2015 17:11

Karmanna, the NHS say it's ok, so I'll go with that. I've just waited until after 12wks to be doubly safe!

"Cunt*, I had prune juice this morning and mixed it with orange to make it a bit more palatable! Still think I'll lower the prune to orange ratio tonight though, it's not the tastiest of juices!

ChicBabyP · 23/04/2015 18:05

What about soaking some prunes in boiling water and letting it cool and then eating the fruit with the juice rather than a bottle of the stuff? U could also sprinkle some flaxseed on some apple compote, that helps go too and should be safe in pregnancy I'd think...
