Glad you had fun chops! Good luck today pug thinking of you.
I'm heading to my mums to surprise her with a visit will be so hard not to mention anything ;) want to keep quiet until scan I think. It's Friday!

tammie49 · 17/04/2015 09:38

thanks mega. its all a bit weird as I feel the same, no symptoms really apart from the odd twinge. I've had a cough for over a week and I've only come close to being sick from coughing so hard. swear it's affected my immune system - I'd normally have got over it by now.

Fizzie100 · 17/04/2015 09:48

Two quick questions hopefully someone may be able to help with.. I have GP appointment on Monday - is that the right way round or is it midwife first? Or will GP refer me to midwife? Unfortunately last time I was all in the EPU with MC so never actually made it as far as booking in a dating scan or anything. Also, I bought another big box of Pregnacare conception tabs a couple of days before BFP - are they ok to keep taking or should I be switching to the pregnancy version? Do they all have the same stuff in? Would rather use up these as not cheap! Wishing everyone a lovely day x

NicNak22 · 17/04/2015 09:52

fizzie my go doesn't need to see me, I need to book on with the mid wife at 8 weeks.

NicNak22 · 17/04/2015 09:52

Gp not go

HariboBrenshnio · 17/04/2015 10:06

Fizz - each practice is different. I have to see my GP who refers me to the midwives. Got my appointment on Monday too!

Conception should be fine. As long as it's got folic acid in which I'm sure it does. That's the most important thing at this stage, everything else is a bonus!

Sweets27 · 17/04/2015 10:07

fistbump robot Smile

Fizzie, I saw my GP and he took a urine sample and referred me to a midwife, but you can also self-refer. In fact I'd called the hospital before my GP appt and started the self-referral process anyway, so I kinda ended up doing it twice! As for the Pregnacare tabs, they more or less contain the same thing, but basically all you need once you're pregnant is 400mcg folic acid and 10mg vitamin D. I think the Pregnacare ones have that, so you should be fine!

Good luck today Pug Grin

As for me, no spotting again since Weds night, so I'm really hoping I'm in the clear. 6 days and counting til my early scan...

Jebel · 17/04/2015 10:21

Good luck pug. If you are 7 weeks you may see a heartbeat but if 6+2 maybe not. The other thing to mention is that the U/S equipment really makes a difference, if it is a rubbish machine, they can't see as much!

I had a stressful obstetrician appointment yesterday (am not in the UK so process is different). He did an internal u/s and said he could see the gestational sac in the right place (hurrah) but it was too small. I quizzed him a bit and essentially he was not positive about the pregnancy. Obviously was upset and then he said he would have expected a heartbeat. I immediately pointed out I was 5 weeks and you can't see a heartbeat at 5 weeks. To cut a long story short, the machine had defaulted to my last pregnancy which was IVF and so was using the date as an embryo transfer date rather than LMP.

Phewy, so he then re-scanned on the basis of 5 weeks and all is as expected, could see the yolk sac which is a good sign. 2 weeks until my 7 week scan...

sweets fingers crossed all ok

chops I was in the same situation last night. Have told a couple of good friends but last night pretended I was on g&t.

Sweets27 · 17/04/2015 10:27

OH jebel, must have been a horrendous experience to be told it was too small. How awful for them to mix up the IVF date vs LMP date and put you through that! Really glad it was looking normal for 5 weeks. Fx for the 7 week scan Smile

abi2790 · 17/04/2015 10:29

Good luck pug!

Hope everyone is okay this morning :)

I have been really crampy this morning and worried I might have a uti. I constantly need a wee and when I go it's just a dribble and feels a little bit stingy. If it's a full wee it doesn't hurt though. Do I try to make an emergency appointment with my gp today or wait until Monday?

In our area you don't see the gp at all just go straight to the midwife so I haven't seen anybody yet :(

tammie49 · 17/04/2015 10:45

That sounds like cystitis to me Abi. I'd definitely see the Dr asap to get it sorted, it's horrible. I had it once in France and the pharmacist gave me some herbal tablets that made me wee every 10 mins until it'd cleared up. I've never seen them here, they were amazing!

abi2790 · 17/04/2015 10:51

I had cystitis a few years ago tammie and it was absolutely horrible! this isn't too bad which is why I don't know if I'm overreacting but it's probably best to get checked out. I don't think I'll be able to get an appointment for today though. We only have 1 doctors in a big inner city area and it is always full!

tammie49 · 17/04/2015 10:56

I'd just tell them what the problem is and that you're pg, they might squeeze you in. I had it loads when me and dp had just met (ahem) but I had it as a kid too so think I'm a bit prone. it could get worse over the weekend so give it go. in the meantime drink LOADS of water. the chemist may give you those cranberry sachets but they've never really helped me much. good luck!

Hez2386 · 17/04/2015 11:09

Hi everyone Smile

Can I join? Just got my bfp this morning. Think I'll be due around 25/26th of December! Shock

Feeling very excited as this will be my first xxx

WhatsForYeWontGoByYe · 17/04/2015 11:11

Oh my god, jebel, that's horrible! Glad you were able to be so on the ball despite the "machine says no" nonsense. Do you mind me asking where you're based? You don't have to answer, am just being nosy!

abi I had a urine infection early in my last pregnancy and GP just told me to drink loads of water (tough, because I was vomiting at the very thought of water at that point). It can make you feel really run down and crap, so take it easy.

Glad you've had no more spotting, sweets. That's really promising.

Today, I am mostly STILL COLD (why can't i get warm, FFS?), weepy and crampy. Had quite strong cramps last night - could be placenta attaching or something, I guess - 7+5 today!

And does anyone know where my concentration has gone? I work from home which means I need focus and motivation and so far today it is sorely lacking. I am procrastinating like a fool.

HariboBrenshnio · 17/04/2015 11:16

Iv ended up calling in sick to work. My whole body aches after falling down those stairs! I only work 2 days (the easiest two days of my week, the rest is chasing my 18 month old!) so feel really bad about it. Hopefully I can go in tomorrow.

Hi newbies! waves congratulations.

Definitely get checked out if you suspect UTI. I ignored one at the beginning of mine and DPs relationship (ahem) and ended up in hospital the week before Christmas with a severe kidney infection!

oceanlady · 17/04/2015 11:17

Hello lovely ladies,

I'm tentatively stepping into the giant realm of the unknown...

Got my first BFP the day before yesterday after being three weeks late! Was a little confused as I keep having stomach cramps and feeling like I was about to come on, but after reading all of your encouraging posts on here I see that is totally normal! So far cramping and the opposite of constipation (the joy) are my symptoms...

So as far as I can work out I am around 6 weeks, so should be due beginning of December - eek! :-) I have my first appointment with the midwife next friday...

Hope everyone is doing well. XX

Jebel · 17/04/2015 11:17

whatsfor not nosy at all, I'm in Qatar. And, despite it being 35C, I am also COLD (and also completely unmotivated to do anything on my day off except sit on the sofa).

Congratulations Hez!

Fizzie100 · 17/04/2015 11:21

Ooh 35 degrees...sounds lovely! Sweets really pleased no more spotting. I'm trying to be braver when I go to the loo as opposed to getting in a state every time!

MrsMcJnr · 17/04/2015 11:37

Oh I love that daily odds calculator, only 8.4% chance for me today ?
I am finding it hard not to have the support of my husband ? It´s the first time I haven´t had that and whilst I have been through these early stages several times before, they haven´t always gone well and I really could do with his support right now and maybe a little more help in the evenings with the kids but he is being really selfish (in my opinion) I know this baby was a shock for him (and for me!!) but I need him to stop coming up with arguments as to why we shouldn´t have another baby and start thinking of reasons that it will all be ok, I need him to get on board. Anybody else been through or going through this? Any advice?

MrsMcJnr · 17/04/2015 11:39

Love your first baby photo Whirlwind :)

MrsMcJnr · 17/04/2015 11:41

Jebel, what a horrible experience, poor you! Glad it ended well though. I feel cold too and it´s 28c here today (I am in Spain).

Welcome to all the newbies :)

charleybelle · 17/04/2015 11:48

Eek me too! Got my BFP last Sunday, but I'm the same as Withalittlesparkle - PCOS means my cycle is a bit crazy!! My test said 2-3 on it so I think I must be about 5 weeks!! Got a scan booked in for just under 3 weeks time so fingers crossed all stays well until then!! Very excited though as it will be our first and will be due just around the time of my 30th birthday!!

ThePug · 17/04/2015 12:05

Thank you all so much for your good luck vibes. I think we are ok! I told the obstetrician I was 6+6 going from LMP but I didn't think I'd ov'ed until CD18. She did an abdominal scan but was having trouble seeing anything so got in the super experienced sonographer who did an internal dildocam and found the yolk sac straight away and a teeny tiny 1.8mm fetal pole. They said that it all looked good and matched with the dates I thought. They said they wouldn't expect to see a heartbeat until it is at least 7mm (and it should now grow about 1mm everyday), but possibly not even then so they have booked me in for another scan 2 weeks today when I should be about 8 weeks. They said the brown spotting is probably harmless and as far as they could see at this stage everything looked ok, but obviously couldn't give me any guarantees. So please all keep sending your positive thoughts!

Also had a good chat with my diabetes consultant who is very happy with my sugar levels and will see me again when I go back in 2 weeks. Apparently I will have to keep going at least once every month, possibly more often for the first two trimesters and then at least every 2 weeks towards the end, so I'll be getting very familiar with the hospital!

HariboBrenshnio · 17/04/2015 12:07

Jebel I'm so glad the appointment ended well. Only two weeks until your next scan and then you'll see a little heartbeat Smile

MrsMc I'm sorry your husband isn't on board, that must be so difficult. Could have a sit down when the kids are in bed and probably talk it out? All cards on the table? Other than that, I hope time helps to bring him round. I totally understand needing the support. I couldn't get through the early weeks plus toddler without DP taking over when he gets in.
