Morning all - Glad to hear boilers have been fixed, some people have had some sleep (ok not loads!) and sympathies to those meant to be resting or with carpal tunnel!

Welcome to Caliexpat...I would definately try to find a pregnancy yoga class...I'm loving mine...even if you don't meet that many people through it it's a great way not to get stressed about moving to a new country 2 months before having a baby!!! Google it....you should be able to find something local. As well as looking on MN for local meet ups - have you thought about joining the NCT? It may be too late for classes etc, but they often do coffee mornings and meet ups for new mums with babies the same age. My advice would be to take any opportunity to meet pregnant ladies or new mums once you've had the baby - you can always drop out if it's not your thing!

Here's the website...

www.nct.org.uk - put in your postcode and get in touch with your local branch.

Better get downstairs to do some more Christmas wrapping - v.boring and organised I know, but if the house purchase does actually happen - eeeek - there will be sh*t loads to do!!!

Galmum · 05/12/2006 09:28

PS Congrats on new car LTH - Have you had to indulge in a people carrier?? - 4 little people under 7 - you are wonder woman!!

theUrbanDryad · 05/12/2006 09:34

morning all!

well i had a slightly better night's sleep than DH last night (ha!) due to him running a fever and having a throat infection. bless. we're off to the doctor's later this morning so we'll see how that goes.

daisypops - i've got some wrist splints from my neighbour, but haven't tried the cold water. had to take my wedding ring off last night cause my hands were so swollen; dh took a bit of a dim view of this, especially since i was off out to the pub for a friend's birthday! cue lots of pregnant woman on the pull jokes.

caliexpat - yoga pregnancy and aqua natal classes are a good way to meet other expectant mums! i expect it's a bit of a shock moving here from california - all grey and dull! whereabouts did you live? i've always fancied san franciso myself, not sure about all those hills though.

anyway, i'm in a happy mood today, no real reason, but my skin has cleared up since i started my new cleanse-tone-moisturise routine. on the other hand, has anyone else started to have massive traumas with putting socks and shoes on? took me nearly ten minutes this morning!

Hattie2 · 05/12/2006 10:22

Morning all, welcome to the newbies and congrats on the new car LTH, sounds fab!

Question for those who already have 2 (or more!) - when did your bump drop in 2nd and subsequent pg's? I've read that in the 1st pg you can have another 2 weeks to go once it's dropped but in subsequent pg's it's likley to be much quicker. Mine has nosedived over the weekend , I can now walk up a flight of stairs without getting out of breath and generally feel much lighter. Now very worried the birth is imminent though!

LadyTophamHatt · 05/12/2006 10:26

Bloody hell, I dread mine dropping Hattie...if I get any lower it'll be dragging on the floor!

I'm all baby too, so the thought of it dropping further isn't that appealing. Heaven help me when I have to get the little(big!!) bugger out....ekkkk...

GodRestYeMerryGentELMen · 05/12/2006 11:15

Morning! Has anyone heard anything about Magnolia.....I hope she and LO are ok.

I stayed in bed this morning til 10:00 making the most of it before next week!Have a tour of the neo-natal dept on Thurs...maybe then I can get to the bottom of this MRSA rumour.
And today is delivery day...new spare room mattress, new cot matress.
Hope it all goes well on the house purchase front Galmum.

Lots of hugs to you MoM, it's good to hear from u

Hattie2 · 05/12/2006 12:57

ELM - 10 o'clock that's outraegeous, shouldn't be allowed . Hope you enjoyed it.

LOL at LTH dragging her bump along the floor! Feel like mines going to drop out whenever I stand up ... if only it were that easy

laughalot · 05/12/2006 13:59

Hi everyone thanks for all your well wishes I feel alot better went back to hospital yesterday for a check up all is ok bp still a little high but they are happy for me to be at home, got a consultants appointment tomorrow though so we shall see what he has has to say he has a great festive name Mr Pickles . Im wrapped and ready for xmas but not ready for baby yet I dont think I really hope she will be a jan baby.

2Happy · 05/12/2006 15:00

Afternoon, everyone!
Was feeling so lousy from lack of sleep I went to bed at 8.30 last night, but all that happened is I woke up at 11 instead! Argh! However, I actually feel quite cheerful today, but I think that's mostly related to tomorrow being my last day at work
Welcome to caliexpat and wilkie. Wilkie - I'm due 21st as well, so now there're 3 of us, though I really wouldn't complain if I went early!!!
Is anyone else getting worried about Magnolia?
laughalot - Mr Pickles?? Sounds like a child's imaginary friend
Hattie - I'd heard heads should drop later in 2nd+ pg, but this one dropped about the same time as ds (but he was 2 weeks late, so it means absolutely nothing as far as I can tell, except more week of that nasty grinding geeling in your pelvis when you walk!).
MoM (((hugs)))
Daisy, UD - crappy tunnel, what a nightmare. Hope the cold water helps.
UD - have to sit down to put socks on now, and I cut my toenails at the weekend and decided dh will have to do it from now on, poor man! Have also arranged to go swimming with ds and mil on monday (what was I thinking?!) - how the hell can I shave my legs when I can't bend?!
DH - I didn't have a cs (but was properly mashed, TMI) and I used arnica. Couldn't tell you if it helped or not, but I'm sure it didn't hurt.
LTH - but have you tried reverse parking yet??!
Oonagh - glad the boiler's fixed.

I'm losing track now.... Sorry to anyone I've missed out, but I love that this thread is so chatty. Over 600 messages now! About time for a new one? I'd been thinking of something like Due Jan 07 part 6: Magnolia won the race: who's next? But I think we'd need to wait and hear from her.
Ideas to cheer us up. Hmm, how about you help me and dh decide on girls names? We have boys choices, but can't agree on girls (probably because the chances of us having one are so low!). (Actually, I'm not sure that'd cheer anyone but me up !!)

2Happy · 05/12/2006 15:01

"nasty grinding geeling"?!!! PMSL! feeling, I meant!

GodRestYeMerryGentELMen · 05/12/2006 15:24

Magnolia has posted on the December thread

here

2Happy · 05/12/2006 16:14

Yayyyyyy! Congratulations Magnolia!!! (Thanks, ELM!)

Loubie37 · 05/12/2006 16:34

Hi everyone, not got long to chat as desperately in need of a bath (not because I smell, but because I ache like mad!). Have been for my midwife check up today and can't believe how much my bump has grown - I'm now measuring 39 weeks!! 2 weeks ago I was 34 weeks!! There's no bloody wonder I ache so much is there......

My midwife can't understand why I've not been referred for a growth scan, especially as I'm having a GTT, so I'll see what they say on Thursday when I go for it. Apparently my midwife can't refer me herself?

On a brighter note I've got my physio appt on Monday, which is a relief. I'm fed up of waddling/shuffling around.

Will catch up with everyone else's news soon when I'm out the bath

Loubie xx
33+3

LadyTophamHatt · 05/12/2006 17:57

2happy, Dh has been re-doing our drive so because he was caked in mud today asked me to reverse the car on to see if the gravel was deep enough, or something like that anyway....my mind went kind of blank when I heard him say "Em...can you reservse...." thats all I heard really.

I did it though and was very pleased with myself

Theres only one complaint I'd make about it....the parking sensors aren't loud eneough, I want a great big loud fog horn noise when I'm getting too close to anything, not a dainty teeny weeny little

LadyTophamHatt · 05/12/2006 17:58

Bloody FAB to hear about magnolia too, I was starting to worry and I ahven't had my worry head on for a while now....You all remeber how bad my worry head is, don'cha???

elliepmummy · 05/12/2006 18:12

Congrats Magnolia expect your dd's are obsessed with Benjamin!!

LTH - Think we can all remember your worry head although like you said hasnt been seen for a awhile. Glad the new car is fab

Loubie good luck for thurs hopefully they'll scan you or refer you for a scan

Can't remember whose last day at work it is but congrats and enjoy your maternity leave (god I wish I knew what i do now and would have savoured every minute of my mat leave before DD arrived)

Right I am going to go through this thread and update the list ready for whoever sets up a new thread!!

elliepmummy · 05/12/2006 18:25

Hi Ladies

Had Ben on Thursday 30th November. Great c section and he is a lovely 6lb 8.5oz although dropped to 6lb but feeding well

All his big sisters are loving him especially dd4.

Will post about the section soon.

Can't believe I started on Due Jan, then went to Due Dec too and ended up having a Nov baby

I havent caught up on the messages yet, will try to do it when I get a spare minute {probably in the new year!!!!!!)

Dragonhart · 05/12/2006 20:24

Congrats again Magnolia, lovely name!

wilkie50 · 05/12/2006 20:27

2Happy - totally agree about the 'coming early' thing - would love little one to arrive at 38 weeks (which would be about 5th Jan - 4.5 weeks away.....eeeekkk!)

Well, sleep was not forthcoming last night - record two hours waiting to nod off. Tried every position possible and SH had the gall to tell me off for 'keeping him awake' - grrrrr - how would he like a small person kicking the hell out of him as he is attempting to get to sleep!!!! Maybe I should try kicking him tonight to see how he likes it?

Lizzz · 05/12/2006 22:23

Congratulations on being the first one to pop from our thread Magnolia. Best of luck! I am very jealous of you.

I've got a month and 2 days till my due date! (7th of Jan) I know, we are not suppposed to pin all our hopes on these dates but if I go over this date I'll go mad crazy!

In other news, my bladder is now pea sized also, and this afternoon I managed 3 wee's in one hour. I am thinking about investing in some Tena Lady Incontinence pads, and just 'going with the flow' to save the hassle of hastily waddling to the loo! Is anyone else going through this?!
