Hi everyone... another night spent in hospital....arrgghhhh I think I'm going out of my mind!!!! Still on schedule for 11th Decemberr induction, if this little fellow doesn't decide to pop ut before then.......race you ElliP??

Magnolia: All the best hon ((hugs)) will be thinking of you!

2Happy · 29/11/2006 18:42

GOOD LUCK Magnolia xx
ELM - fingers crossed the baby hangs back until 11th, sorry you've had more time in hospital, bet you're sick of plastic mattresses!
TR - really pleased the scan went well

Loubie37 · 29/11/2006 18:53

Good luck for tomorrow Magnolia, I hope all goes well I'm quite envious, I've had enogh of being pg now thank you very much! I'm just consoling myself with the fact that this is the VERY last time!!!!

Glad all went well with your scan TR and good luck with your SPD appt on Fri - I've got mine with the consultant tomorrow but I'm not holding out much hope, round here they don't send you to the physio anymore, the best they can offer is crutches??? All well and good for going shopping etc but it won't help me turn over in bed, get in and out the car, put my knickers on, or go up and down stairs will it?? Big sigh....

I've been and bought my last few baby bits today - half a dozen small cartons of baby milk (in case I decide to give up B/Fing at 3am!) and another 4 packs of pads, I got the allways night time ones, hopefully they'll be absorbent enough (I've got a couple of packs of proper maternity ones for straight after the birth)

Has anyone heard from KatieRocket lately??

Loubie xx

elliepmummy · 29/11/2006 19:02

ELM - I'll let you take a head start seriously do not need to be having this baby before xmas! Feeling loads better today so hoping my healthy (yuck yuck all tastes disgusting) eating is starting to have some effect. Its only 5 weeks and 2 days till my section and reading Loubies post reminds me must go and buy some formula (naughty EPM does not even attempt b/f but I am not going to start that debate!)

ELM · 29/11/2006 19:24

Shopping Question! Would like to get a baby photo album for each of the Grandma's for Christmas... has anyone seen any good ones?

elliepmummy · 29/11/2006 19:32

we got them 'grandparents boasting book'when I had dd and put copy scan pics in and gave it to them with a congrats on your new grandchild card (didnt know she was a girl!) when they visited after i had her. Both sets loved them and my mum put a new photo in every month for the 1st year and now updates it with a few pics every 6 months and means if she is seeing friends etc who she doesnt catch up with regulary she just takes that with her. Think i got it from clintons but loads of websites do them

OonaghBhuna · 29/11/2006 20:09

Good luck to Magnolia. I packed my hospital bag today and my DH stated, " Now dont be packing too much remember I can always bring extra stuff you made need" It sounds very thoughtful but my DH has a head like a sieve I did pack sensibly......! I have a rotten cold and my bump seems to have really grown in the last few days. The baby must be lying sideways as I am getting kicked right around to my kidneys!!!! I can feel her wriggling there aswell!!!

Loubie37 · 30/11/2006 10:11

EPM - I'm not looking forward to BFing to be honest - I BF my DD for 5 months and really didn't enjoy it if I'm totally honest, so much so that DS went on a bottle from day 1. DH though was particularly keen for me to try it so we've compromised and I said I'll 'do my best' for the first month or so. I don't intend carrying on BFing longer than that (unless this time it's totally different and comes natural to me) and I'm not sure whether after that time I'll express or switch to formula - I'll just see how it goes

OB - that's my next job, packing my hospital bag (well, suitcase considering how much I'm having to take in what with crib sheets and blankets etc ). The only problem is, most of what I want to pack is still in daily use such as PJs, slippers etc! I'll end up with a 'last minute' list as long as my arm - kind of defeats the objext really!

Having said that, I 've ordered some BFing PJs from Vertbaudet - they're reduced in the sale down to £12 odd from £20 and better still, if you're a new customer you get £10 off if you spend more than £20 so all in all I got a lovely maternity top (need a new one for Xmas do's) plus the PJs for the bargain price of £15.03 including p&p! It's worth a look on their website - some stuff is 60% off

Must dash now I've got my consultant appt at 11 re SPD - hopefully he'll agree to me being induced early

Loubie xx

elliepmummy · 30/11/2006 12:41

Was just sitting here wondering how Magnolia is doing, still can't believe someone is actually having their baby!!

Loubie you never know this baby may take to BF at least you are having a go, have to say DH wasnt really bothered when we discussed it last time and said it was up to me so made my decision a lot easier!

theUrbanDryad · 30/11/2006 13:57

i'm really keen to BF, but we'll see how it goes.

am babysitting my friend's 14month old at the moment. we're watching little red tractor on cbeebies and spreading marmite sandwich all over the living room floor!

got my first antenatal class in an hour....sort of nervous and excited at the same time! not sure what to expect....

hope magnolia is ok, obviously we won't hear from her straight away. wonder if she's had it yet?

LadyTophamHatt · 30/11/2006 13:59

I've been thinking about Magnolia all day, ellie.
I know it's madness but I'm soooo jealous of her ATM...I am sick sick sick of being PG

I hope we hear an announcement soon

poppynic · 30/11/2006 14:05

Hi Loubie - I've just bought the very same pj's - so if we happen to be in the same hospital we will have to insist on different wards . I went a bit mad in their Xmas sale tbh hee heee heee. - dp sweetly confirmed you need a red side as well as a black side on a balance sheet. (I'm taking charge of the red side...)

ELM · 01/12/2006 02:26

Bout of insomnia..so thanks to you guys I'm going to try some early morning retail therapy on Vertbaudet! Hope you are all sleeping soundly and not prowling round the house like I am!

Wondering how Magnolia and new DS are.. ... ...

UD: How was your antenatal class?
EP: About hospital bag... I've bought bought cheap slippers from George, I think they were £4, a cheap dressing gown £5...not exactly glamourous, but ok for hospital and just keep them in my bag...otherwise I know I will forget them. Also miniatures from boots are a godsend!
Loubie: How did the consultants app go?

Lizzz · 01/12/2006 06:24

I am sooooooo bored. Have been awake since 3.30am. Never gonna get up in time for work later on, so may as well stay up.
If it takes me 2 hours to actually get to sleep due to hideous heartburn, and then add in 3 loo trips as baby is using bladder as a trampoline, but then I've been wide awake for the last 3 hours too, that means, all in all I have had about 3 hours sleep.
And people tell me that looking after a baby will leave me sleep deprived....? Bring it on! Can't be much worse than this!
Can you tell I am just blossoming, and full of the joys of life...

Lizzz · 01/12/2006 06:27

ELM - make sure you include some socks on your shopping spree. People keep telling me I should remember to wear thick socks during labour as your feet get really cold.
May keep the cream cashmere ones for home though!

elliepmummy · 01/12/2006 07:10

I'm joining the insomnia club (as is my dd!) got to sleep around 10 woke up at 12 dd woke up 5 mins later (think I may have woken her) took till 1.40 to get her back to sleep then I couldnt sleep looked at clock and it was nearly 3. Must have dozed off then dh alarm was going at 4.45 so up again and laid there till 5.30 when I got up and got ready for work.

So by 6.30 I was showered and dressed and dd was washed and dressed and we are watching TV until 7.40 when we leave to drop her at mil's. The only silver lining on the cloud is that she is staying there tonight as both dh and i working tomorrow and mil has got my niece and nephew tonight so DD will love running around with them and then all 3 of them end up sleeping in the spare room double bed together!

Loubie37 · 01/12/2006 08:27

Just a quickie as I'm back at work today - first day back in over 6 weeks but if I don't go back they'll make me start my mat leave early

Had consultant appt yesterday (except I never got to see him, it was with the registrar) and she confirmed I've got SPD (like I didn't know already!) and has referred me for physio to get a belt and/or crutches (even though the midwife in the room said there's no point as physio don't do anything any more which is what I was told previously?? )

Said to take paracetamol every 6 hours whether I'm in pain or not, and wouldn't discuss induction, said it's too early for that

Booked me in for a GTT next Thursday on account of baby being big (she estimated it will be 10lb+ if I go full term ) as I'm measuring 37 weeks now (I'm 33 weeks tomorrow!) and that was about it really....

Does anyone have any wise words of wisdom re constipation? I've not 'been' for 3 days now and I'm really starting to suffer I've been drinking gallons and trying to eat loads of fibre/cereals/fruit/veg etc but nothing seems to work. I asked about it yesterday and they just said to eat more fibre/drink more fluid but it just doesn't seem to work and I'm in agony every time I try to go

Will catch up with you all later

Loubie xx

Daisypops · 01/12/2006 08:27

Hi everyone, I'm joing the insomnia club too. Was awake at 2am, this carpal tunnel syndrome is awful. Got physio appt on monday. My coccyx are still bad aswell, getting uP after been sat or laid is so painful and my ankles are unsightly. Soz for glum post, have phoned in sick today as I can't possibly go to work after 3 hours sleep three nights in a row. I'm heavy and uncomfortable and still 3 weeks of work left. I should have logged on and we could have had a chat ELM!

Good idea about the Boots minatures for your hospital bag, might have to go choose some this weekend.

I had my first ante natal class on monday and one woman fainted and was sick. The birth video is next week! Think it was too hot in the room. Really enjoyed the class though, it really does help when your informed and know whats going on with your body and whats going to happen.

Hope magnolia is ok. X

2Happy · 01/12/2006 08:53

Good grief, we could have had a proper Jan 07 meet up in the wee small hours! I was just logging on to moan about my crap night too! The only way I've been able to get any sleep up to now is on my left side, but my back's just too sore now no matter how I lie. And I swear if dh snores one more night I'm getting a bloody divorce! He asked me yesterday if I was sick of being pg yet, which I think is his none-too-subtle way of trying to persuade me we don't want any more kids! Actually I must have fallen asleep at some point because I did have a dream that I'd had my baby, but it was horrid because I forgot I had it and popped out with a friend and left it alone in the house .
Also thinking of Magnolia, and hoping everything went ok and none of the complications they were worrying about.
dsis has an amniocentesis this am following an abnormality on her 20week scan, so positive vibes her way, please!
Daisy - hope you get a chance to rest today. Your AN class sounds eventful!
Loubie - hope work isn't too busy for you and you get through the day
ELM - hmmm, dressing gown. Forgot about that. Didn't need one with ds, as it was June and boiling. I've put off thinking about my bag until after I finish work, but that's next week, so I probably ought to get round to it. Still seems like so long to go, though!
Right, let's think positive. Today our work/children/partners are going to behave and not stress us out, and tonight we ARE going to be able to sleep. (Anyone believe any of that for a second?!)

poppynic · 01/12/2006 11:04

Loubie - shove the kiwifruit down. They dish it out in old people's home (well, okay that is in NZ where there's a lot of the stuff), but it works a treat to move those bowels...

poppynic · 01/12/2006 11:07

Oh, and in my last ante-natal classes the physio showed us all how to go to the toilet! Very straight back, kees wide apart (this means getting your knickers further than your knees...) and heels off the floor (or, maybe it was heels flat - sorry, can't remember you'll have to experiment....)

Galmum · 01/12/2006 11:07

Greetings to the night shift!

Sorry to admit that I normally sleep very well - pregnant or not and it's been a huge help in getting through the last few years with frequent spells in hospital. As long as my ds was asleep and happy, we both developed the ability to sleep through observations, beeping machines and nurses popping in - I would wake up if it was the wrong type of beep! However even I am starting to have issues!

The cramp thing is pissing me off! It's been 4 weeks. I'm getting a weird type of cramp in my left shin, foot and toes....and it makes my big toe stick up in the air and I can't move it!! I have to stand on my foot with the other foot. However last night - the 3rd time I had to get up with cramp, my right hamstring decided to get cramp as well. I needed to do opposite things with both legs and was in agony! My husband had to push my big toe back down and then massage right hamstring while I tried to shift weight on to left leg to get rid of cramp there!! Confused....well I can tell you I was - half asleep and legs cramping every which way.

Had a strange recommendation from the pharmacist - Schweppes full fat Indian tonic water (with quinnine). Starting to think there may be something in it. Had tonic water when we went out on Wednesday and NO CRAMP. Has anyone else heard of this one or other solutions???

lulu25 · 01/12/2006 12:22

Tonic/cramp: I've been drinking lots because I like it, and now I come to think of it I do seem to be getting less cramp when I have a fully stocked fridge. This may be a coincidence. Anyway Sainsbury's are currently doing 3 bottles for £2 so worth a pop.

OonaghBhuna · 01/12/2006 12:22

Galmum, I suffer from this aswell on frequent occasions my Dh has woken up to me screaming in pain with my foot in his face to pull my toes back!!! Tonic water is great I put ice cubes and a slice of lemon or lime in it to pretend its a G&T!!! Bananas are great as they are full of pottassium. Stretching and leg massages help too.
