Hello Ladies,
Its offical my GP's are obsessed with my wee! I got an appointment today about the persistent 'farmer giles' and had to pee in another little pot, which is great fun with the SPD, - thats the 4th wee test in 2 weeks! I think they might be selling it on ebay or something.
34 weeks tomorrow and no sign of a hospital bag for me - should probably get onto that.
I have just been trying to catch up on this thread and I have to say you girls like to chat! But I am slightly concerned about the yoga book that recommends some strange hip opening stretch for SPD. Everyone (including yoga teacher and physio) has been quite keen for me to keep my legs firmly together and NEVER do anything with one leg and not the other at the same time. I can't imagine how painful that stretch would actually be with SPD!
Good luck with all the aches, pains, sleeplessness, itching, Dc's and DH's lets just hope they don't get any worse before these babies appear.

Yeay! Have heating and hot water and it all only cost £20! Found a lovely plumber who lives just down the road. Only down side is that he said that whoever fitted my boiler (a husband of someone my husband works with) was crap. Oh and the boiler he fitted is crap too and might break soon despite being 2 years old. Oh joy!

Hope your Dh finds work soon Urban. and that he gets paternity leave. A friend of mine's husband lost his job just before the baby was born and he found one pretty quick but they didnt want him to start for 2months so he got loads of time with the new baby.

Just realised that I was supposed to book an appt with the midwife for tom. Wil have to wait til next week now. Such a bad mum and its not even born yet!!

Nemoinapeartree · 20/11/2006 18:14

anpther here who has not packed a bag..am 32wks but just figure as with both ds and dd I will more than likely be induced so no rush..lol Also before Dh went away this week I asked him to get the bag of newborn and 0-3mth clothes from the loft only to find I have given away all my newborn stuff. So now have to go and buy more..I blame him on insisting DD would be the last..dont think either of us thought 12mths on we we would be doing it all again..lol

Nemoinapeartree · 20/11/2006 18:14

meant to say urban hope your dh finds a new job soon.

dragonhart glad heating etc is fixed..especially in this weather

trixymalixy · 20/11/2006 21:56

Good, so i'm not the only one to not have packed a hospital bag yet!! My friend is a bit anal about things!!

Was just wondering how many of you have stretch marks yet? None have appeared yet at 31 weeks, but I keep checking as i have loads from when I was growing up on my hips so I'm bound to get them!!

was wide awake at 5am this morning with horrendous heartburn and no amount of gaviscon would help. Ended up just getting up about 6.30 and going into work dead early as there was no way i was getting back to sleep.

fortyplus · 20/11/2006 22:26

This is a hijack - sorry! But someone has started a media thread re: Mums with an internet gambling habit.
This seems SO unlikely for MN that I reckon it needs some posts...

Nemoinapeartree · 20/11/2006 22:27

tr5ixy is this your first???????? With DS I didnt get any stretch marks until 39wks then all of a sudden I looked like I had been attacked by an angry tiger...with DD think it was around 30wks but had a lot of water with her and this one they are just starting to get new ones which I didnt think was possible

Tillypup · 21/11/2006 08:59

I haven't packed my hospital bag yet either! 33 weeks on Wednesday.

Got the cot at the weekend and the moses basket from the out laws! Now we are decorating the spare bedroom, hopefully that will all be finished by the weekend.

After a weekend of terrible sleep due to a combination of BH contractions and indigestion everything seems to have settled down again, my mum's tip of sleeping with an extra pillow seems to have helped the indigestion at least!

This is my last week at work, yippee!

Daisypops · 21/11/2006 09:32

Trixy, no stretch marks for me yet and I'm 33 weeks on Thursday. My mum didn't get them with my and my brother so I'm hoping I won't!

I haven't packed my hospital bag yet either. Kinda scary!

Couldn't sleep again last night, backache and pins and needles in my hands. Finally got back off to sleep then couldn't get up this morning

trixymalixy · 21/11/2006 11:20

nemo, yes this is my first and that really wasn't what I was wanting to hear!! I will be so upset if I get away with it until 39 weeks and then get loads of stretch marks!!

My Mum has loads from when she had me and my sister, so i think I'm bound to get them.

I have been slapping on the bio-oil in a vain attempt to try and reduce them. i can but hope!

LadyTophamHatt · 21/11/2006 11:56

I didn't get any until after 36 weeks with ds1.
Not sure of the exact week but I know it was after 36 weeks because I started my maternity leave then and I didn't have any before it started.

laughalot · 21/11/2006 13:25

Hee hee streach marks oohhhhhh joy I was convinced when I had ds I dident have any until my dh kindly broke it to me one day when I was in the bath that they were under my bump I called him every name under the sun he then came in the bathroom and produced a mirror he was right .

aria21 · 21/11/2006 16:49

hi all,
Im due on the 21st Jan! Just had my 31st week check up with the doctor..all good. Blood test was taken by the midwife and it left me with blue-green-maroon marks! this is the second time he left me with an imprint of his work ;-)

OonaghBhuna · 21/11/2006 17:44

I dont have stretch marks on my bump but my boobs are covered mostly from previous pg with dd.I think its because my boobs are normally small and now they are HUGE!!! Sp far have escaped spd, so I do feel for all those women ou there that are experiencing it. I am just very tired, dizzy and feel weak and faint most of the time. Everything is ok have been getting weekly checks by mw.

Hattie2 · 21/11/2006 18:31

Welcome aria! Sounds like your veins are like mine and go into hiding the minute the midwife gets a needle out. Btw, do you have a male midwife? I've never met one of those!

Had my 34 wk check up today, all well. Midwife I'd never met before though who was possibly the most unsympathetic 'medical' person I've ever met. She asked me how I was and when I told her about a few niggles etc she just said 'Yes, that happens when you're pregnant!'. I know it does and I wasn't expecting her to perform miracles but why bother asking if you're not going to seem remotely interested in the answer?!

No bag packed here, did buy a pack of nappies the other day though so a start at least.

2Happy · 21/11/2006 19:32

Hi aira, you're my due date buddy! Tell us about yourself - is it your first etc?
Stretch marks - I'm another one I'm afraid. I thought I'd got away without any until about 36/38 weeks when I caught sight of a zillion of the buggers in the mirror. Not sure how long they'd been there for as they were under the bump and hidden from view (rather like the ladygarden...!) And I'd been plastering shea butter on, made no difference, so I haven't bothered this time!

Love2dance · 21/11/2006 20:03

Hello all.

I too had stretchmarks on hips (from puberty - seems so long ago) and recently started to see them on bump. I had been using an oil (tho' only once a day) but got stretch marks coming thru' anyway (I'm 32 - or is it 33? weeks). I have recently discovered some new stuff called Revitol Stretch Mark Prevention cream from the States. You can get it from a few internet sites here but you have to watch out as when I rang up they were out of stock. I ended up buying some on the net from the States (obsessive? Moi?).

Anyway, it is pretty good (the marks I was getting have already faded). It claims to be all natural (squalene oil - whatever that is, vitamin E etc.) and the manufacturers say it is safe for pregnancy.

I have also heard that for after pregnancy Strivectin is good for getting rid of stretch marks but it looks to be full of chemicals and is not recommended for use in pregnancy.

You can see that Apart from reading thru this thread I spend far too much time on the net (am still supposed to be working but self employed so tempting to be naughty when I have a bit of time). Off to watch "It's me or the Fat Dog".

Night all.

pitstop · 22/11/2006 09:09

Laughalot
You had me looking with the mirror last night!!! None as yet but now I'm worried, I've still got 9 weeks for them to rear their ugly heads!! I seem to have spent a small fortune on creams, balms & oils, it'll take me years to get through it all!!

ELM · 22/11/2006 09:25

Hi guys... horrible hospital app yesterday....my iron levels are still going down despite all the tablets I am shoving down my neck! (explains why I feel like a walking zombie!)
And they want to induce at 34 weeks, w/c 11/12/06....I know they know what they are doing, but he is low estimated weight anyway bby the scans, and 34 weeks seems really early...

Have had virtually no sleep, but have come in to work to take my mind off of it.
Please don't banish me to the December thread!
On the positive side getting my hair done, and my ladygarden weeded?? Strimmed?? in preparation.

poppynic · 22/11/2006 10:33

ELM - what are your iron levels down to? The doc I saw at the hospital said they had to be 11.5 I think, according to WHO, but my doc (who is pregnant) said for pregnant women its allowed to be 10.5. Mine are just above that and she though it was fine. I'd hate to have my baby induced at 34 weeks unless really necessary - can you ask for a second opinion?

poppynic · 22/11/2006 10:38

Hattie2 - they are obviously cutting out "empathy" training in medicine as part of cost cutting measures. The doc I saw at the hospital responded to my, I've got lots of stinging and itching down below with, "That's fine.". ! Ah, no, it's not actually - but she was a pert and perky 20 year old - she'll just have to wait to find out I suppose.

Nemoinapeartree · 22/11/2006 10:49

ELM I think if the baby is small and iron levels are low they are trying to pre empt risk of placenta failure[might be wrong ] so although it seems early at least they can help more on the outside than in and you may be surprised.

annieapple7 · 22/11/2006 10:52

I think the stretchmarks get worse with each pregnancy, My "old ones" are starting to re-appear on my sides and I think I glimpsed a few on my belly yesterday, (am 30 weeks) oh joy. They do fade though to nothing afterwards, unless you get really tanned. My stomach was so flabby after DS2 (I notice the flabbiness gets worse too) there was no danger of showing it to the sun! I really should start saving for a tummy tuck and boob job after this baby.
I couldn't sleep last night either and sat up in bed eating toast and drinking tea looking on Amazon on my laptop. Got a bit of Christmas shopping done anyway.
Love2dance - glad I am not the only s/employed person skivving on mumsnet...it seems to have replaced my ebay addiction.

theUrbanDryad · 22/11/2006 12:30

i haven't got any stretchmarks from the pregnancy yet, but i have them on my hips from losing weight too fast, so might yet get them on the bump. i'm quite philosophical about it all - i don't wear bikinis or whatever anyway, and the only person who sees there is DH and if i do end up with stretchmarks it'll be his fault anyway!

i saw an awesome emily the strange bag yesterday and almost bought it for my hospital bag, but it was 35 quid and hopefully i won't need one anyway as i'm having a home birth. seems stupid to spend that much on something you're hoping not to use. still want it though....

LadyTophamHatt · 22/11/2006 12:38

Oh UD, I didn't know you were having a homebirth too.

I think we might be the only ones on the thread having HB's(not sure though)....Aren't we an exclusive club
