ooooh yeah get us!! although if i statr to bleed again they won't let me...

anyone else still got carpal tunnel? my neighbour gave me some splints from when she was PG and they help a bit, but i was awake almost all night with it. soooo tired today. oh well, good practise i guess!

Shimmer · 22/11/2006 14:05

Hi everyone. Thanks for that info on iron levels poppynic, mine was 10.5 at my 28wk tests and my midwife kind of scared me abit saying they should be at least 11.5. So it's good to know it's actually not that bad! Didn't want to take iron tablets but have started taking Pregnacare, which says it has 100%RDA of iron, so that must be doing some good hopefully! I probably should have been taking it all along, but it's just one of those many things that it's taken me some time to get round to!

Can I join the HB club LTH and UD? I had DS2 at home - million times better than a hospital. Squeezed him out while watching the A-Team. And all we needed was a plastic sheet for the bed - we used half a bag used for wrapping silage bales.
Will be really disappointed if I have to go into hospital for this one. I might even decorate my bedroom in preparation...the hole in the wallpaper made by DS1 and DS1 and their plastic tools won't impress the midwife.
Would highly recommend home birth to anyone with a low risk pregnancy - I had 2 midwives with me throughout (DH was sleeping in DS1's room until baby started coming down he chute and the midwife said, "You'd better wake him, he's going to miss it!") I would rather have had them then DH - they were fabulous. Very different to hospital where midwives went off and left you labouring on your own! They even put the bedsheets in the washing machine afterwards!

Hello, and welcome aria,
I am now a bit scared to get out a mirror and check for stretchmarks under my bump, as on it I seem to have some small redish blemishes that look like the beginnings of the little buggers, despite slapping on the Palmer's stretchmark cream, since about 12 weeks.
Urban go get your new bag honey, it will be handy for all the baby stuff you'll be lugging about and if you can't treat yourself now, when can you? Or try writing a letter to santa!
Just curious about something, has anyone used a post-partum girdle thingy to help get back into shape? I read something somewhere that Nancy Sorrel (SP) - Vic Reeves's Missus, used one after her twins and was modelling underwear within 2 months! I see that Agent Provocateur have a very saucy looking thingy, dunno if my budget will stretch to it tho.

LadyTophamHatt · 22/11/2006 14:48

I'm sure there room for another member annie

I had ds2+ 3 at home and agree with everything you've said.

elliepmummy · 22/11/2006 15:01

Just got back from my 32 wk check new midwife as the old one is on maternity leave now!! Seeems nice but useless at getting blood (having to have my blood done fortnightly as my iron levels are only 10) hoping they will have increased as taking 2 iron tablets a day (and suffering the consequences sp?)She mentioned the same that if ots low again will have to go under hospital care and they'll monitior us (great with a toddler in tow)

DD bored and its throwing it down a the mo, bought a buggy board from ebay and collecte it this morning as only 15mins away advertised with all the fittings but just tried to connect it all and the prolonged arm things are missing so waiting for an email from sellers now be very if she hasnt got them

theUrbanDryad · 22/11/2006 16:34

annie - of course you can join the club!! just a quick question though...did you use independent midwives or were they NHS? cause from what my MW has said to me there will only be one MW at the birth...or maybe i've got the wrong end of the stick as usual!!

LadyTophamHatt · 22/11/2006 16:37

UD, Mine are NHS and from ds3's HB the 2nd MW is called towards the end of labour for the delivery.
I had one for labour and should have had 2 for when he was born but she didn't get there in time.

theUrbanDryad · 22/11/2006 17:11

so - i'm a bit confused, at what stage do you phone for the MW? cause i was thinking if you're not properly dilated, what are they going to do?

sorry - had a BAD week here (my mum fractured her arm yesterday) not sleeping well, so brain not functioning. i'm probably being very thick....

annieapple7 · 22/11/2006 17:11

Yes, similar to LTH, UD, the first midwife arrived soon after I phoned and the second one a bit later, but they were there for hours. They were both NHS. Honestly they were fantastic, I'd choose them over DH any day! I must be really lucky. I am wondering if I can request the same tow midwives again!

LadyTophamHatt · 22/11/2006 17:24

Ud, call them when you feel you want/need too. If you're not dilated enough they will just go home again and wait for yuo to call again.

My MW went home again when I was in labour with DS3 saying I had hours to go. Little did we both realise that she'd be back within an hour to deliver him!!

ELM · 22/11/2006 19:42

Hi everyone.. .welcome Annie!
Iron levels are 9.6 and dropping, despite being on two iron tablets a day for the last month... they seem to be having the opposite effect on my igestive system to everyone elses! They are trying me on different tablets...there is more than one type of iron apparently!?*
poppynic: They are inducing 'cause my waters broke at 27 weeks...the low iron just adds to the reasons why..
No signs of stretchmarks yet, haven't tried the mirror under the bump though.Chance would be a fine thing, my bump is constantly measuring too small...I have bump envy, how weird is that.

Quick tip...Christmas party maternity dresses..look on ebay...cheaper even than hiring..

Daisypops · 23/11/2006 10:25

Hi everyone,

ELM, can't believe you might have your bub for crimbo. Your iron levels sound like a pain, why is your body reacting differently? I got my iron results this morning and they were 13.5 MW said I must have a really good diet! They were 14.1 at my booking appt.

Was also told bub is now head down and !!! I wondered if it was a little foot I could feel in my ribs!

UD, I've got carpal tunnel. Wakes me up in the early hours. Never get it thru the day though

I think we need to start a new thread, theres over 400 posts on here now. Anyone got any suggestions? x

Opps! Sorry

2Happy · 23/11/2006 11:17

Morning all. First of all apologies - the S and O on my keyboard are playing up, just in case this post makes no ense. (I think ds poured a cup of water onto the computer, so I guess I'm lucky it's working at all!)
Anyway, sorry to hear about your iron levels, ELM, you must feel so rubbish with them that low.
UD, hope your mum's arm is not too sore
of yu getting homebirths, I'd love one but after last time am not allowed (and not sure dh would let me even if I was!). Hope they go as calmly as I always imagine HBs to be!
I get my scan tomorrow, if all's well that'll be the last time I see the baby before it's in my arms, what a thought! It's all getting very real now, isn't it?!

LittleMonkeysMum · 23/11/2006 12:46

Oooh can I join the club? I'm due Jan 14th. ladygarden reaching everywhere. I had a wax about 4 days before DD was born and only realised when I could see 'down there' again thsat they had taken the p**s completely and waxed a stripe where a normal bikini line would be, leaving the bits either side of it, and there was me pushing and sweating thinking 'thank goodness' I had my lady fur sorted!! Thank goodness I didn;t know what it looked like more like!

poppynic · 23/11/2006 13:23

Hi LittleMonkeysMum - you're the same due date as me. You should put your date in in the list on this thread. You're not at Hampstead Royal Free by any chance are you? I ended up in a ward with someone from my antenatal class last time - it was great (except her brat cried all night . I hadn't even considered my luxuriant ladygarden for first birth - but, thanks to MN, an overaware of it now. Did a tricky shave in prep for 32 week check at hospital yesterday - when doc told me to "get ready" to get on bed - I whipped off knickers and boots (coz you just can't have boots and no knickers can you) - but just before doc walked back into room realised he may just want to look at my tummy - he did and he grinned!! .

Shimmer - pregnacare is what I have been taking and the docs are all fine with that - although it hasn't got me to the exalted levels of Daisypops.

After appointment yesterday found he had written in my notes re urine that it "stinks (smells)" What I had actually said was "stings" in that area!!!!!! He had also prescribed antibiotics for "the infection" - I didn't know what infection - rang midwives - got unsatisfactory answer - dialled Mumsnet - got good advice - paged doctor and was told that the antibiotics were for the "stink"!!!!!! No antibiotics now - thanks Mumsnet .

LadyTophamHatt · 23/11/2006 14:04

I had the worst night sleep ever Last night.
Hips were agony, bump uncomfy, leg cramps, weird dreams, tiolets trips, baby doing gymnatics, braxton hicks, you name it I have it all keeping me awake.
I think I must have woken up almost a dozen times.

Yes...yes..yes...all good practice and all that but someone hasn't realised I don't need any practice...I've done this already!! I already have kids!! I don't need to practice because I've done it in real life 3 times. I just want to sleep.
Bastard!!

I have to just say I'm amazed that anyone is bothered/concerned about their lady garden at this stage. I really truelly, hand on my heart couldn't give a flying f*ck what mine look like right now and I'm sure the MW feels the same.
Waxing it when PG hurts like hell too so forgive me for being blunt but you're all mad!!

Welcome to all our newbies BTW.

theUrbanDryad · 23/11/2006 14:36

go on LTH, let it all out, don't hold back!! i had a better night's sleep....very odd dreams though too. did anyone see the thread about orgasms in sleep during pregnancy? i'm having more in my sleep than awake at the moment! mind you, that's not entirely surprising!

can i just say I LOVE BOOTS!! i joined the parenting club, and got my vouchers through the other day. got the changing bag, 2 disposable cameras (on bogof so...bonus!) and a very expensive mascara all for the price of a packet of Huggies nappies! am totally blown away (i'm easily impressed! )

daisypops - my LO is head down too and has been now for a coupla weeks. have had foot in ribs for a while and it's wearing a little thin now. DH thinks it's hilarious, so i kicked him in the ribs to give him an idea of what it felt like!

oh yeah AND I CAN HEAR AGAIN!!! had my ears syringed today...totally gross but very satisfying! the world is in stereo once more...happy day!!

magnolia1 · 23/11/2006 15:04

Well ladies I am having my baby next Thursday!!!!!!

Ws booked for 38 weeks but asked for it to be brought forward a week as my spd is agony and my Iron like elm's is dropping despite lodas of iron tablets was 8.6 last time Also having had previous premmie babies I am shitting myself in case I go into premature labour with placenta previa coz of heamorraging.
So the consultant agreed although he midwife looked at me like i was asking for the earh adn ried to tell Dh (when i was ou of he room) that at 37 weeks baby would probably having breathing problems WTF!!!! So its ok o pop him ou at 38 without any concern but at 37 they want to shi the life out of you!!

Dh took no notice. The twins were born at 35 weeks and were fine. Katie was 33 weeks but only needed help for a week.
I hate midwives sometimes

magnolia1 · 23/11/2006 15:05

FFS The T's on this puter are buggered!!!

theUrbanDryad · 23/11/2006 15:18

blimey magnolia - am worried for you but excited too!

take no notice of the mw...sounds like a stupid cow if you ask me (which, y'know, you didn't, but i'll give my opinions anyway! ) according to dr miriam the lungs are fully formed at 32 weeks, everything else is just maturing. good on your dh for ignoring her!

i just went to my dentist's appointment. turned out it was yesterday! bloody pregnancy hormones!!

LittleMonkeysMum · 23/11/2006 15:25

Poppynic, how weird, not at Royal Free, but at the Whittington! A good friend of mine due on the same day is booked in to Royal Free. How funny! Was in Royal Free at weekend being neurotic about an exciting rash DD got whilst we were out on the heath. The toys are a lot better at the Royal Free if you ever have a choice between A&E there or the Whit!
LOL re wanting to show off your topiary to the Doc, and also in complete agreement with the boots no knickers, just no way, there always seems something a little weird about leaving socks on for a smear.
How do I get my name put on the list?

Daisypops · 23/11/2006 15:43

Poppynic-LMAO at you whipping your knicks off and the 'stinks' bit.

LTH-I'm having trouble sleeping too. cramps, toilet trips, BH and bub dancing is stopping me getting mu usual 8 hours but I'm loving feeling bub move so much. So reassuring. I suppose when your on your thrid you realise how irrelevant grooming your fanjo really is. Must admit I take the razor to mine pretty often to stop it getting sweaty but waxing I just couldn't face, too painful.

UD-the Boots parenting club is fab aint it? When I went the woman ran everything thru the til, then put all my vouchers thru and I ended with a HUGE bag full of stuff and paying £11.00! Did you get the meditarreanen stuff?

Magnolia. I'm sure your bub will be ok. I'm no expert but surely at 37 weeks he'll be ok. The lungs are formed by then aren't they? x
