elliepmummy · 19/11/2006 08:20

Hi MOM glad you are ok
LTH Have a lovely day today (no arguing )
2Happy So did you have a nice lie in?
TR Talc/Savalon fot itchiness?

Nesting urges taking over again I worked 9-3 yesterday got home did dinner, bath DD and put her to bed at 6.45 then felt the need to take everything out of my linen cupboard refold and resort back into cupboard. Cleared my ironing pile and changed our bed linen (done DD this morning) was going to go to bed about 9 to watch a bit of tv but found myself going through our chest of drawers sorting out underwear to be thrown rematching socks and throwing holey ones away. Wouldnt mind but cant understand why i always do these things at night when I am knackered !!!

OonaghBhuna · 19/11/2006 22:14

Glad Im not the only one with itchy boobs especially my nipples!!! They get sooooo itchy it drives me mad! Hope everyone had a good weekend. I spent yesterday making fairies which was really good fun and on Friday I bought most of the things for my hospital bag.I think Im going to do my Christmas shopping online......

Lizzz · 20/11/2006 08:18

woo hoo - 33 weeks gone today! I am getting so excited. Though the prospect of an 8 week period has shocked me totally. None of the books mention that bit. Gross.

Itchy nipples have driven me mad over the last few months. Normally just in the evening. I've been slapping some moisturiser on to cool them off. Or shoving cotton wool down the front of my bra.

I have a 36 week scan coming up, due to the possibility of a low lying placenta. (sounds lovely) no one else I have spoken to has had one of these. Has anyone else got another scan booked in before their due date?

x

magnolia1 · 20/11/2006 09:58

Oh Blimey ladies!!!! Can't you tell we are all nearing the end, I forgot how stressful the last bit of pregnancy can be. With dd4 I was 33 weeks so didn't really have the end and the twins were 35 weeks, dd1 was 38 so this is the longest I have been pregnant since my 1st 11 years ago

Dh is absolouley st*tting himself that I will go into labour (which will result in heavy bleeding) Been having lots of period pains and baby movements slowed down. He wants me to ask consultant to bring c section forward a week.

As for the nesting thing, Dh put wood flooring down in the hall and downstairs toilet but it went wrong in the toilet so needs to be pulled up and redone!! But its still waiting after 4 weeks
The garden still isn' quite secure enough to stop the dogs from jumping (what if they bolt when i am at home with baby, can't imaging running out to the field witth newborn just o get dogs back )
Having animals, I have de flead the whole house and the cats/dogs just to be on the safe side butt that means hoovering every inch of the house
Packed my bag but don't have pj's yet or a nursing bra or big knickers or toiletries. ARRRRGGGGHHHHHHHH ITS A BLOODY NIGHTMARE ISN'T IT

Lizzz: I have placenta previa stage 4 which means the placenta is completely covering the cervix. It was like this at 20 weeks but hasn't moved In most cases it moves up by 34 weeks I am just one of the unlucky ones. Having a c section on 7th December. Hope your scan goes well and the placenta has moved xxxx

ELM · 20/11/2006 11:47

Hi everyone...

Glad you are ok Magnolia, the thought of going in to labour early must be so scary. How many weeks are you?

Ignorant first time mother question: Read the posts on baby engaging, have been feeling like someone is ripping my pelvis apart when I stand up for too long... this has only been over the last couple of days, and I've started waddling...and feel more 'full' of baby...is this SPD or baby engaging....and if so what does it mean?

2Happy · 20/11/2006 12:11

Lizzz I get an 'extra' scan just as a quirk: because I live in the arse-end of nowhere, the consultant comes out to the health centre to see all his O+G patients, that includes people getting their 16 week scan etc so he brings the portable scanner with him, and so scans everyone. So at my 32 week consultant check I get a scan that'll tell me if baby is growing, got enough fluid, head down, facing the right way etc. It's pretty cool to see the baby an extra time, but it's not 'routine'. Mind, last time he let slip the baby's sex he'd better not do that again! I think that's on friday, I guess I really ought to check!!
LTH - how was lunch?
Magnolia - tell dh you'll only think about changing a section date once he's finished the toilet
TMI stuff - I didn't bleed for that long after ds, and got away with using the always night pads (though I'm used to having to use double protection normally for my periods, so I guess the gushing wasn't so different for me!). And itchy nips - that's always a sign mine need a bit of a squeeze to get out some milk. Dreamt last night ds started to bf again, and found I had leaked in my sleep

2Happy · 20/11/2006 12:13

Sorry, ELM, didn't mean to ignore you there. The pain could be the head - is it a grindy against your bones kind of pain? The head normally engages earliest in a first pg, now's the time to get on your hands and knees and make sure it engages facing the right way!!

elliepmummy · 20/11/2006 12:15

Hi ELM I'm 2nd timer but can't help you as DD was breech so never engaged I am sure someone will come along to help you.

I am getting very excited as yesterday we bought new furntiture for our front room and its all been delivered (straight from local pine/oak shop and they deliver the same day!) even better its all made so no flat pack. Looks fab and my new plasma tv that i won is being delivered tomorrow and my dad coming on thursday to put the bracket up. As DH was moving the furniture around I had a mad cleaning spree so front room is immaculate (not going to let anyone in there till after baby born he he )

Dragonhart · 20/11/2006 12:55

DH was trying to get the kitchen decorating finished on Sun after a massive row Sat night about how he was being lazy and I would have the baby before it was finished, and he put a chisel through a gas pipe!

No heating, no cooker and no hot water! Brrrrrr!

Hope everyone else had a good weekend.

LTH - loads of BH here.

Keep getting really dizzy with them, and usually when I am on the stairs with DS. Had him weighed last week and he was 13kg, 28 lbs 14 so no wonder my back is killing me and my hips feel like they are about to split! Really make me realise how pampered I was last time when noone would let me lift anything but now I spend my time lifting DS, buggies, car seats ect. I should have made the most of it the firs ttime rather than just being irritated by it!

BTW I bought maternity pads for DS and hated them. They are massive and really uncomfortable. I bought the thin ones from mothercare after one pack of the thick ones and they were just as good. Then after one pack of those I used the most absorbant always pads and found they were much better and cheaper. I wouldnt buy too many maternity pads at first (as someone said you can always send DH out for more if you need them) and see how you get on with them. I only bled badly for about 4 weeks though and then it started to get less and less. Maybe I was lucky.

Dragonhart · 20/11/2006 12:59

I found disp pants really rubbish too as I found they were too 'balloony' to hold the pads in place. I would get a really cheap pack of big black ones from supermarket and then you can just get rid of them when all the heavy bleeding has stopped.

Nemoinapeartree · 20/11/2006 12:59

hello all..I struggle to keep up with this thread as usually one or both of the gruesome twosome seems to be hanging off me...lol Hope everyone is ok and enjoying the fact we are nearly there even if it is uncomfortable!!!. I know a couple of you know that I am measuring 4wks bigger[only ever measured 1 wk bigger before..eek] so am going back to consultant 2 wks before due to discuss induction so on 2nd jan I might know the date the baby is coming...seems quite surreal as this time last year I was in similair position as DD was due 16th dec and arrived that day. Will try to read through the thread but find it difficult...so please know that you are all in my thoughts!!!

Dragonhart · 20/11/2006 13:01

Just beat you there nemo. Hope you are ok appart from being big!

Nemoinapeartree · 20/11/2006 13:02

trinityrhino..being of the huge bussom brigade the best thing to do for your rash is sudocrem..works wonders to relieve the itching and rash will go within a few hours..then apply talc to try and help with the sweating...or perspiring seeing as we are supposed to be ladies!!!

magnolia..gosh must be weird being so pg again if you are not used to it.

Elm pain could be baby engagin when having DS he started to engage from around 32/33wks but DD didnt until I was in labour with her.

Nemoinapeartree · 20/11/2006 13:05

dragonhart can empathise on the back ache from picking up little ones..Although had DD weighed this morning and she is only 21lb could have sworn she weighed more than DS who is 28lb at age 3...lol Although tots do tend to be like dead weight or wriggle a lot so much harder to carry...whenever I can I make her do the work herself like climbing the stairs etc...lol Although the lifting in the car and the fact she is too lazy to walk is a bit of a nightmare!!

Dragonhart · 20/11/2006 13:09

DS is only 15 1/2 months so dread to think what he will be at 3! He is not fat either so when people lift him they are always supprised how heavy he is. My mum works in a nursery and say that none of the children are as heavy as DS and they go up to just before schoold age. She says she nearly throws them in the air whe she lifts them to say goodbye to their mums!

Nemoinapeartree · 20/11/2006 13:11

aww bless him..is he walking as Ds was 26lbs at around 14mths but then has only put 2lbs on since. All of a sudden they just go taller without the weight gain. Ds was an early walker thought so by 14mths he was more a runner!!!

Dragonhart · 20/11/2006 13:26

Yes walking now, and weight gain has slowed down. I have him going up and down the stairs too, although it takes ages and sometimes it is just quicker to pick him up!

theUrbanDryad · 20/11/2006 13:29

heya all...wow, been here ages trying to catch up with you all.

welcome to all the newbies!!

sorry to hear about everyone's aches and pains - i'll add mine to the mix I'VE GONE DEAF IN MY RIGHT EAR! it's really annoying - not sure if it's pregnancy-related or not.

oh yeah, and DH may be taking voluntary redundancy, effective immediately. what great timing.

elliepmummy · 20/11/2006 13:54

Oh no UD what does he do, will it be easy to find another job?

Daisypops · 20/11/2006 14:07

Oh its so reassuring to hear everyone has got pregnancy niggles. I was very emotional this weekend. Cried when my boot wouldn't lock and cried when my hairdryer blew up! DP was extremley patient and lovely.

Still waking up with pins and needles in my hands and the coccyx pain is a total mare.

Not long to go now ladies. x

laughalot · 20/11/2006 14:21

Hi ladies 33 weeks and counting !!!! Well im ok besides being tired all the time, burnt my tounge on some home made blackberry crumble and my back and ladygarden feel like they have been hit by a garden spade . I havent packed my bag yet for hospital really I should get my finger out however all my xmas shopping is done so I feel iv acheived something.

Ud sorry to hear about dh hope he finds a new job asap.

theUrbanDryad · 20/11/2006 14:39

oh yeah - hospital bags, have had mine packed for a good few weeks now (spot the first timer!) mainly cause of the first bleed, DH made me do it, but it was also so i'd know where my maternity notes were the whole time.

it shouldn't be too hard for DH to find another job, we were just hoping it would wait until after the baby was born, but his work situation at the moment is so awful that i think getting out of there ASAP is the best thing that could happen. i'm still trying to find a "proper" job, but try finding someone to employ you when you're 7 months pg! the jobcentre aren't exactly sympathetic.

elliepmummy · 20/11/2006 14:47

Right I am going to moan now this baby feels like its going to come out any minute, the pressure on my bits is unbearable am at work today and I have the new starter with me and all I have done is moan just hope he comes back tomorrow (have told him that he won't have to listen to my moaning till friday) god I just want this baby out!!!

poppynic · 20/11/2006 16:00
