????

Excitingtimesahead · 15/04/2015 21:03

Hello Marjory I'm also due on 11/09/15.

Loved being in the ?? today with ds. However even at 18/40 it's hard constantly running after a 23month old and a dog at the park. Luckily my dh and SIL were there to help. God knows what it will be like at 38/40

bonzo77 · 15/04/2015 21:23

Baby books: I only really used 2. Gina Ford contented little baby and Penelope leach (cannot remember the name but quite a big book). Took from both what suited us best. I know Gina is controversial but it really worked so well for us. We followed it almost to the letter with DS1 from 6 weeks, and more loosely from 10 weeks with DS2.

DeladionInch · 15/04/2015 21:31

Exciting ds is 29m and I'm also 18w, he's just that fraction more independent and needs less direct supervision than 6 months ago. I'm not looking forward to getting him in the cot/trolley/car seat in a few months though!

Hi, new people Brew

Excitingtimesahead · 15/04/2015 21:40

Thank Dedadion, there is hope then. I've also been wondering how I'll get him out the cot with a massive bump???

I'm sure there will be many more challenges this time being a second pregnacy. With ds, my only worry once I finished work was, walking the then puppy, getting off the sofa, up the stairs and what to eat nxt lol

DoNotDenyMe · 15/04/2015 21:49

Hi to new ladies! londonliv - same due date as me!
Exhausting day today taking dd to Alton Towers for her 3rd birthday! It was great fun... but I didn't realise just how many of the rides I was exempt from Confused At least we got some good photos!

ambientolf · 16/04/2015 07:03

Fell off the thread again, oops! Good morning all SmileBrew

Jessica32 · 16/04/2015 07:54

Hello new ladies Smile

maths how great, I love Paris! We're hoping to fit in a trip to Italy in May or June but haven't booked anything yet.

ovumahead · 16/04/2015 07:58

envious what a fab post!! Can't top that.

DH, DS and I will all be heading to the isle of Wight over the may half term for a break. Usually go camping in august but I'm not sure that will be happening this year!! Can't imagine tolerating all the bending over that comes with camping when I have a massive bump!!

Major pregnobrain fail over the last day - lost phone in park, registered it lost, reset all my passwords for everything, have forgotten new passwords.... And my new password was some permutation of a phrase about not bring such a massive idiot!!! Like as a reminder to myself!!! And I've forgotten it. How ironic....

Still no baby movements - been nearly a week now after little kicks and flutters most days when lying quietly... Really trying not to worry but its so hard!! Want to call my midwife but I fear she'll think I'm being a neurotic madwoman which would likely be the correct diagnosis....

Boodlymummy · 16/04/2015 08:20

Ooh ooh! Have had some occasional flutters so far, but just had a series of what felt like teensy kicks. What surprised me was I could subtley see and feel the tiny drumbeats on the outside. Anyone else observed this? Am 17+4 and slim framed. Thought that would come later. Hope it happens tonight so can show DH!

Whatabout · 16/04/2015 09:10

Exciting, I'm 18+5 and my son turned two two weeks ago. We are going to move him in to a bed in s couple of months so it will be easier getting him in and out of bed. He weighs 22lbs so he's not too bad for carrying at the moment!

lovesmycake · 16/04/2015 09:13

I just had a tickle fight with bump! I could see/feel where she was kicking me so poked her back and then she kicked me again in the same place Grin

ovuma I had the same had been having flutters then stopped for 5/6 days at about 17-18 weeks. I think she had just moved up and had more space. I'm feeling it again now for the past week or so much stronger and pretty much all day long, don't know if that helps? I'm 20+4.

enviousllama great picture: nothing wierd about it at all, just your beautiful baby's skull. Magic.

bodily it might have been hiccups: I think they can start by this stage.

I can really feel mine moving when I'm lying still and quiet. Flutters and sometimes something that feels like it stretching out.

No child-free breaks coming up. Butlins with friends over half-term. Not restful or relaxing, but good fun and stress free because the kids have a fab time. Meant to be going to Norfolk with my parents in August, But I will be about 35 weeks then, which in principle is fine. In reality, DS2 had to come at 35+5, and I was having twice weekly monitoring from around 33 weeks with him. However, this pregnancy feels very different, less indigestion, less nausea, no heavy duty meds for reflux and aspirin from 6 weeks, instead of 16. Really hoping for a baby that arrives after 37 weeks and good weight.

ovumahead · 16/04/2015 14:19

envious what an incredible shot of your baby's head!!! Amazing! Glad your scan was all good today. Mine is in less than 2 weeks, can't wait!

londonliv · 16/04/2015 15:09

envious that's an amazing photo!

My scan is three weeks away - feels an age! On the plus side OH & I are off to New York for a week before then for one last big holiday Grin

The bump seems to have suddenly popped out today and all my last pair of jeans are reaching the point of no return. One question I have, when looking at maternity clothes how do you know your size? Is it the size you were before? I haven't really put on my weight apart from the bump & bum so not sure what to go for Confused...

londonliv · 16/04/2015 15:52

thanks envious will do that then. It's funny as I went from looking like I'd just been eating all the Easter eggs (which I had!) to having a definite bump literally overnight!

Choccyhobnob · 16/04/2015 16:40

Me too! Last week not an obvious bump and then by the weekend there it was!

Choccyhobnob · 16/04/2015 16:42

Yes I think it's just the size you were before. I unfortunately have added weight to my thighs so have had to go up a size :-(

ovumahead · 16/04/2015 17:44

I've had to go up a size too... And may need to again. My pants (truly awful things from m&s) keep rolling down.... I think this means they no longer fit me but I'm in denial!

Snowflake15 · 16/04/2015 18:14

Trust me to be pregnant and get a wisdom tooth coming in at the same time

Paracetamol isn't making any difference and I'm apprehensive to take it so only had a few times when it's become unbearableSad

Anyway very jealous of all you ladies feeling kicks I'm 17 weeks and still nothing yet!

TheMidnightHour · 16/04/2015 19:27

Hello all! Wondering if my travel plans are a little ambitious. Have a week in Turkey for a wedding at 25w then off with a friend for 2w afterwards. Also want to fit in a trip home to Foreign at about 30w (this one by ferry). In the normal way of things, I love to travel and have no problems with it (hence the busy schedule) but just wondering if there'll be much difference? Will have to get Fit-to-Fly for flights, obv. But any other thoughts?

I'm pregnant for the first time, but as it took 3y to conceive have had a while to ready books, mostly from the library. Here are the ones I remember

  • Mumsnet Guides (Pregnancy, Babies, Toddlers) (can't remember Toddlers, read it in a fit of keeness 2+y ago) - I like them. Good for a walk through of options & a bit of humour plus real-life peoples' examples.
  • First Time Parent by Lucy Atkins - like the way its broken into sections and stages, and gives you lots of options & variation. No idea if any of the tips work though.
  • Bring it on, Baby, by Zoe Williams - a long rant of a book and funny. Good if you're hating any bit of the process. No advice in it really.
  • The Minimalist Mom's Guide to Baby's First Year - frankly, a waste of time. Was hoping for at least a stage by stage breakdown of stuff to buy, consider or ignore (e.g. no point buying a bouncer until 6 months or whatever) but is mostly 'don't buy stuff! I bought stuff, and then I realised I didn't need all that stuff! so don't buy it! Here are some things to buy'
  • Bumpology - short sections on what the science is on lots of topics, like alcohol, brie, who newborns look like... Imagine it's much like Expecting Better which someone was mentioning but is British so a bit more targeted to us. Vg.
  • BUMP! by Kate Evans - like the illustrations of baby growing and throughout but mixed feelings about the birth section. Author seems to have a very negative view of doctors & generally made me anxious.

Have a Sheila Kitzinger to read next, which seems appropriate.
