ladies, after 4 years of being a veggie I think I need to give in and have a chicken burger. I can't stop thinking about them!

Chicken burgers and chicken nuggets mmmmmm

ovumahead · 02/04/2015 21:09

Do it!

ovumahead · 02/04/2015 21:11

Wow I feel very irritable right now! Have had a whole evening of my 7 year old 'mum, mum, mumming' me and he's still going! Now all I can hear is my husband laughing at a video on the Internet and I feel rage. RAGE! son is on the loo having a moment of peace. I'd quite like everyone to go away. Must be hormones!

DeladionInch · 02/04/2015 21:11

Do it! Just get decently reared meat and watch your digestion for a day or two as some people struggle to process that type of fat after a few years without

DeladionInch · 02/04/2015 21:13

Ovuma trip the fuse then refuse to move from the sofa until the mystery is resolved in case you trip and injure the baby. Make sure your phone is well charged first.

Meinthecorner · 02/04/2015 21:38

ovumahead I find it quite relaxing especially now that I can't do anything too strenuous. Did not fall asleep at the end Smile

thecrab I was veggie for 10 years before my last pregnancy and then at 4 months I craved lasagne and that was that!

Jessica32 · 02/04/2015 22:32

I agree that everyone needs to make the decision that's right for them on scans. As I posted to ambient yesterday, I think they are a completely personal decision. I'm so grateful that I'm lucky enough to be able to stay quite calm (mostly, other than mad hormonal moments!) Love Shinjuku's suggestion of a massage!

I buy ethical meat too, they're treated better but often taste better too as get exercise and are fed better food.

Anyone finding their eating habits going back to normal? I need to eat more regularly but am no longer a walkers Thai sweet chilli chrisp fiend! (e.g. was eating half a family size bag while cooking dinner!)

Jessica32 · 02/04/2015 22:39

Another question for those of you who've done this before. Can you remember when your DP's can feel baby? I know we feel it before, but have never heard any info on when they can.

bonzo77 · 02/04/2015 22:46

jessica my eating is more normal now. I'm hungry but mostly for fairly healthy stuff: cottage cheese and Swedish crisp rolls.

Scans. For me the reassurance is short lived. It's now been over 4 weeks since my last scan (the 12 week one). It's the longest I've been without a scan during pregnancy since my second (which was a mc picked up at the 12 week scan). I feel pregnant, im starting to look it and my period is awol. It's enough to convince me all is probably ok. Obviously stuff might come up at the 20 week scan. But they do it at 20 weeks for a good reason. Because at that point they've got the best chance of picking most things up. Earlier and not everything is visible.

Whatabout · 03/04/2015 09:15

I'm planning a 28-32 week scan to check placenta etc but only because I think the nhs should do that.

When OH can feel movement varies hugely, 20 weeks ish?

bonzo77 · 03/04/2015 09:43

whatabout my NHS Doppler scan is at 24 weeks, to check placenta blood flow.

DH always struggled to feel the last 2 move. I think the babies got shy!

ovumahead · 03/04/2015 09:44

whatabout is that because you've had previous problems or know of other things that can go wrong? Never heard if this. Curious to know what they'd be looking for.

Whatabout · 03/04/2015 10:27

Just my own paranoia, I just want them to check the position of the placenta and the condition and to make sure growth etc is ok.

bonzo77 · 03/04/2015 11:09

They tell you the position of the placenta at the 20 week scan. If there's any suggestion of it being low they rescan later in the pregnancy anyway.

Happy Easter Friday all! Question for you - when do I absolutely HAVE to start sleeping on my left side? I've googled but no definitive answer! At the moment I'm shifting from side to back to other side during the night to get comfortable - is that ok at 14 weeks? Big thanks xx

Whatabout · 03/04/2015 13:57

Bonzo, I know this is baby number two and I'm an ex-radiographer.

Sauv I don't think the NHS really make much of a thing about the left hand side sleeping. The book Expecting Better has a chapter of the evidence behind it and I think it just showed a small decrease in stillbirths for left hand sleepers. Right hand sleepers weren't very far behind. Sleeping on your back was worst. No way I'd be able to sleep without switching sides, I just can't do it, so I'll be swapping all the way through as I did last time. I figure not getting any sleep isn't great for me or the baby!

shinjuku09 · 03/04/2015 14:04

envious I am a stomach sleeper and really am struggling as despite no real bump it already doesn't feel right but I really find it harder to sleep on my side!

shinjuku09 · 03/04/2015 14:05

I'm sure my midwife didn't even mention it last time so it can't be a really big issue I don't think (happy to be corrected though)

GoooRooo · 03/04/2015 15:30

thecrab did you give in to the chicken craving?

I am feeling very fat. Now having to give myself daily injections of blood thinners, which is such a pain.

Only 4 weeks to go before I go on holiday though. Can't WAIT.

thecrab · 03/04/2015 17:55

GoooRooo I'm going out for dinner tonight with some friends so will probably give in and not tell the husband, he won't be too impressed =P

shinjuku09 · 03/04/2015 18:08

envious yes please do let me know any magic tips! I'm trying to do a half front half side thing then I end up waking up fully on my stomach! I just can't help myself, I find it so comforting lying like that!!
