staceym11 · 02/11/2006 17:15

oh charlee what a bummer it all stopped, at least it happened before you went in, its not much fun going in....them saying its nothing and then 2 hrs later it all stops!!!

i do think these los have a sense of humor but i also think mines just a lazy little boy. my body's doing its bit to help it all along but the baby doesnt wanna move down and help the cervix dilate! lazy boy, quite happy to stay in there, nice and cozy with food on tap!

harrogatemum · 02/11/2006 18:07

Well I have been in to the antenatal clinic today- according to them the baby is now transverse and moving around a lot (like I dont know that).

Therefore I go back in a week and if its still moving about they will admit me for a "stabilising induction" which means they wait for it to put its head down and as soon as it does they induce you! So who knows, this time in 10 days I might have a baby. Their concern is that the cord could come down if it stays the same way as it is now - they say the baby has lots of room to move becuase of having twins before (i.e. I have a "roomy womb"!!)

Am secretly quite pleased as like my life planned and ordered and dont like spontaneity - although not looking forward to being induced again after the crochet hook last time!!

Charleesunnysunsun · 02/11/2006 18:34

Evening all

Great for everyone leaving work today it's just another step closer to those babies!
By the way if there is doughnut's about i'm deffo bagging one for myself expecially if there is a custard one!

Harrogatemum great news well kind of not so great about having to be induced but at least you will get to meet your LO.

Well i'm pretty much the same im gearing up for another long night going between laying on the sofa and bouncing on my ball (they are great arn't they NJ!)

My mum is ok well not really but dying just yet, she has dodgy heart valves she has already had 2 major heart operations, they want to do another as the last human valave she has left is now leaking, i feel really selfish saying it but im so scared she barley made it through the last 2 op's and each one is more risky so i don't honestly think she will pull thorugh this one.

I think this LO must have a sense of humour all this stopping and starting and engaging then disengaging god is it going to pay when it's in it's teens, im going to collect embarassing baby photos for future boyfriend/girlfriends!

Everywhere i go there are babies! It's just sooooooooo frustrating!

HopingCat · 02/11/2006 19:08

Tinasan - congratulations! Hope you are feeling better
40weeks - that is a good bp according to my mw. Mine is about this as well. It's the bottom number that matters apparently.

Well, I went to mw on Tuesday and was sent to hospital to have a trace because baby not moving much. Obviously as soon as I got there it moved loads! The monitor showed I am having bh every 10 mins, so at least I feel like I'm not imagining things now. Baby is also fully engaged. From the heart rate that the monitor recorded it looks like I'm having a boy according to my friend who is a mw, but it's not absolutely conclusive. I think it's a boy so I think I'm going to give birth to James Alexander. So his name is sorted, now I just want to know when he's coming! I'm getting pains very very low down as if LO is trying to get out, so maybe my waters will go eventually. Due date is in 3 days so I'm really hoping things happen soon.

For those of you who have had babies before, did any of you go into labour suddenly? Or do people always get a show or period pains for a few days beforehand?

staceym11 · 02/11/2006 20:32

HC - i never had my waters break. dd started gearing me up for labour with a practise run a week before (everything going down to 3 mins then stopping randomly) and then i had contractions the whole week, they'd get down to 7/8 mins and id go to bed, slowing them back down to 20 mins by the morning. prob wouldnt have been so long if i didnt keep going to sleep and slowing it down, i just got so tired! lol then finally one night i woke at 3 and couldnt get back as pain was bad by then and she was born 5pm the next day!

hopefully wont be too bad with this one. iv had pains for 2 weeks but only usually 30 mins apart so isnt too uncomfortable! oh i hope this stops soon!

chubley · 02/11/2006 21:00

Tinasan - congratulations! Elena is a beautiful name.

Stacey - you're right, boys do seem to enjoy staying nice and comfy in there and in no hurry to get out!

Mine is engaged but in no hurry! Midwife and I think it's a boy - heartbeat is 134. If no appearance by Sat 11th, midwife is coming to the house to do a sweep and arrange induction .

HC - with no 1 I got some period-type pains a few days before, then a show on the Sat morning, contractions started on the Sun evening. With no 2, nothing before contractions started. With both, once contractions started around midnight, they didn't stop and baby was born the next day - no 2 in about half the time of no 1! Waters didn't break till very late on, when nearly fully dilated.

NatalieJane · 02/11/2006 23:21

Sorry HC, I can't help, I was induced with DS, so I didn't have any 'natural' signs at all. I wouldn't worry yet if you aren't getting any 'signs', especially with being a first timer, I am sure most go over their EDD's, sorry, I know that won't give you much hope!
Charlee, really sorry about your mum And don't feel selfish, it didn't sounds selfish at all to me. I hope she surprises you all and has a turn around.
Stacey, you seem a bit happier

I am doing OK today, last night the contractions had worn off by midnight so I actually dared to get into bed at 12.30 that is the earliest I have made it since this all started three weeks ago!! So I felt a bit more human today anyway, then I got my birthing ball up and running - it is great, but my god my bum get's cold after a while!! LOL Then we sold the phone, and tonight I have ordered the birthing pool and the 'accessory kit' thingy-me-bob to go with it I said to DH if I go into labour now before it arrives I will be mega pissed off!!

The baby has been jumping about all over the place, one minute he is really low down and creating so much pressure, the next he is really high up and I can't breathe, he actually got his foot stuck behind my rib earlier, I don't mind telling you it nearly f*cking killed me!! I was nearly in tears by the time I had managed to gently push it back out! It had DH in a panic though because he could see I had all of a sudden got this pain, but I couldn't talk LMAO, I think he was expecting me to give birth, right there and then! LOL I don't think he appreciated me laughing at him after!! LOL

NatalieJane · 02/11/2006 23:23

Oh forgot to say, is anyone else getting lots of spots? I don't normally get them, but at the moment I have what seems like hundreds of pimples all over my chin and some of them are really hurting. Feel like a bloomin' 13 year old again!! It doesn't help that I don't wear make up so they are 'on show'.

Charleesunnysunsun · 03/11/2006 07:45

Morning all

NJ - I got loads of spots aroung the middle of the pregnancy, not i just get 1 reoccuring on right on my nose so i permenantly look like an alcoholic with a bright red nose!

I am having hourly nose bleeds now which is fun! I keep scarring ds as he ooks at me and i have blood running down my face without noticing!

I look a right state sitting here this morning i have ds's ready brek all down me, a nig leaky boob patch on one side and spots of blood all down my nighty from the night, i best sort myself out incase anyone comes to the door!

I managed to get a couple of hours sleep last night untill the pain woke me up, they i bounced about on my birthing ball for a while. The good news is everytime i get a set of contractions they are deffo getting more painfull which can only be a good thing, i can't hide them anymore as they make my moan out holding my stomach, it's funny just 1 pain and dp is practially bundling me out the door to the hospital!

I keep telling him even if it was proper labour we would have to wait a while beofre going in, i think he's getting as desperate as me to meet this LO!

I don't have to go anywhere today so i can stay in and veg out with ds.

Right i am going to have to go put in a breast pad im covered one side! post later!

NatalieJane · 03/11/2006 07:55

I remember when I was pregnant with DS, I had never had a nose bleed before, not even a little one, I woke up in the night, felt something run across my face (I was led on my side so it ran across my cheek towards my ear, by the time I got to the bathroom, it looked like the other way round, as though it has run out of my ear, I paniced until I realised I felt it rolling the wrong way This time, I do get some days where my nose feels funny, I have never been punched on my nose but it feels like what I would imagine it feels like to be punched!

Well by my dates I would be 37 weeks tomorrow, so although I would still rather hang on until I am 37 wees by scan dates so the HB will go as planned (which is only Wednesday) I can take a bit of a deep breath and I know that if at any point these contractions do bring on the labour, I won't have to worry about the baby Which is a big relief!!

Not that I think this labour is going to be any time soon!!

DebbsyandBibby · 03/11/2006 08:32

wow i have actually slept alll night long thats hasnt happened since i was 6 weeks pg.
sympathies to the ladies that are uncomfy and in pain.

staceym11 · 03/11/2006 09:32

debbsy good for you sleeping!

i managed quite a good night, only waking up to wee, which i never seem to be able to avoid, was woken at 7 with bad pain and theyv been 45 mins apart since then but im not hoping anything will happen as i just get worked up and upset when it doesnt!

did have a bit more show this morning, this time it was green snotty stuff with streaks of blood in it, so maybe thats it and il have a baby soon! god i hope so (but not getting my hopes up! lol)

NatalieJane · 03/11/2006 09:59

Fingers crossed Stacey, but in a very 'not getting excited' way!!

I got into bed about 2.30, after I thought the contractions had given up, led down and they started again, so up I got, sat on the nursing chair thing till about 4-ish and then got back into bed, got to sleep about 5.30 and the alarm went off at 6 so I am back to feeling like a load of crap!

And now I think DS has chicken pox, the day just get's better and better!!

staceym11 · 03/11/2006 10:02

lol thanks.

have posted on your thread about ds, poor mite, hope you all ok and it jsut one of those rashes rather than CP, just as itl make life easier for you, not having that to worry about too.

Charleesunnysunsun · 03/11/2006 10:09

NJ - I hope your DS is ok, i haven't had the joy's of chicken pox yet so i can't offer any advice, but fingers crossed it's all ok.

Stacey - Also very discreetly keeping my fingers crossed for you that it's all going to kick off, though not to blatently incase it scares them away!

Gosh im running out of fingers!

NatalieJane · 03/11/2006 10:17

TBH, if DS does have CP, I'm not worried really, he is feeling absolutely fine in himself, he is at school no problems. He had a bit of belly ache yesterday that calpol took care of, so I'm not worried about him, as such, at all.

I'm not overly worried about me getting it, just a little bit concerned for the baby, but it doesn't sound as though it is serious even for him at this stage.

I suppose when you have a school age kid and a baby there are always going to be things going around.

Anyway, the doctor want's me to go for a blood test at 11.30 to check for imunity, so yet another trip down to the surgery, I feel like I am living down there recently

fatbetty · 03/11/2006 10:27

NJ, have you had CP? My DS1 had a few "spots" when I was pregnant with DS2 and the GP didn't seem overly concerned about it. I had CP when I was a child. In the end I don't think he had CP as they weren't typically CP spots. Hope your DS feels better. My DS1 has just had hand, foot and mouth but only in his mouth.

I'm so tired today and can hardly get myself motivated to get off the couch. I'm just so uncomfortable and I've already lost it several times this morning with the kids - feeling like the world's worst mum at the moment. Would love for my inlaws to come and help out but afraid that the baby wouldn't make appearance for several weeks (I'm 38 weeks) and then I'm stuck with them. That happened with DS2 - was two weeks overdue and they just hung around forever driving me insane. At least it's the weekend and DH can help out.

NatalieJane · 03/11/2006 10:34

No FB I haven't had it. I don't think it is any problem if I'd have already had it before. I rang my mum because I haven't got a clue what chicken pox spots are supposed to be like, and from what I described to her, she said it sounded like chicken pox. They look a bit like heat lumps, small flat white blisters (yes I know you can't get flat blisters but I don't know how else to describe them!!) and the area all around is red, and the rate they spread at this morning, I am surprised I haven't already had a phone call from school!!

I am just glad he isn't feeling poorly with them, I hate it when he isn't well!

FB sit down and do as little as you can get away with today, don't worry about the kids, even just plonking them in front of the telly for an hour (or three!!) while you have a rest isn't going to harm them, but will give you a bit a break.

fatbetty · 03/11/2006 10:44

Sounds like chicken pox. Just put some calomine (sp?) lotion on the spots if they start itching - that's the only thing I know about CP.

Thanks NJ for the reassurance. In a way I wish I was having BH or contractions like many of you as maybe I would think the end would be near. Right now I feel like there is no light at the end of the tunnel (which I know isn't true but you know what I mean).

NatalieJane · 03/11/2006 11:01

Hey, you can have my contractions any time you want I would be glad of the break!!

No, seriously, checking on the list you have 16 days to go, that is nothing really compared to how far you, we, have all come. It really isn't that long, why not sit down and think of something to do every day until the due date? Even if it is just something small like baking cakes with the kids, or having a small waddle around the shops. Even just making the list will take up some time. Sitting around all day (and all night for some of us!) is just making it drag by.

Ooops had better get ringing the taxi and get myself sorted out, got to be at the GP's for 11.30!

See you all later, TC xxx

Charleesunnysunsun · 03/11/2006 11:10

I hope your blood tests arne't to stressfull NJ.

I have just put DS to bed for a nap so im going to make pumpkin soup for his lunch when he wakes up.
I think the pain im having is either getting slightly better or im just getting used to it! It still hurts like hell but im able to tolerate walking around a bit better today.

I have to go to town later to the bank so i may pick up a few xmas pressies.

I also have to order some flowers, we heard this morning my step grandad died in the night, so im sending a card and flowers to my step dad as we are still quite close. I wasn't close to my S grandad but i want to show my support for my step dad IFSWIM?

Fatbetty do not worry i am constantly worrying about poor ds when im in a foul mood the poor mite either gets snapped at or plonked with some toys a drink and a plate of food on the floor while i wallow on the sofa just latley, but not long to go for any of us now im due in 17 days! And boy am i counting!

Right off to play the good housewife and make some soup!

fatbetty · 03/11/2006 11:14

I know, a silly thing to wish for! I'm sure everybody will be sending me their contractions and niggles if they could. I'm sure that I'll be there soon enough and eating my words!!

I have made a list of things that need to get done but looking at it is overwhelming. Just need to focus more on spending time with the kids. Or maybe I should bribe them with gifts. ha ha.

Charleesunnysunsun · 03/11/2006 11:17

Forgot to say.........

I was going to post this thought it might cheer you all up a bit!

I was having a chat with my mum and DP last night and my mum asked if i had all the stuff ready for when LO arrives, i said yes, DP pipes up,

'i still think we should get some more bottles we only have 6.'

to which i reply

'im breastfeeding dear we will only need a couple for expressing'

him - 'what about when we go out you can't breastfeed away from the house'

Me - 'why? if LO is hungry in town/round a friends ect i will feed it'

him (with a total look of horror on his face) 'But everyone will see your boobs!'

I think poor DP expects me to whip my whole top and bra off to feed, i just had this vision of me in town getting half naked to feed LO! it made me

HopingCat · 03/11/2006 11:53

Well, contractions started at 4am and are still going now 8 hours later. They are currently 4 mins apart and lasting 30 seconds but the gap between them keeps getting shorter and then longer again. I've had a definite decent sized show with bloody streaks as well so it looks like this could be it! After wondering for so long what it would feel like I now wish it was over. It hurts! Thank goodness I've got a tens machine! It is working wonders.

calsworld · 03/11/2006 12:08

oooh hoping cat! That's really exciting - hope the Tens machine keeps up the good work and take it easy for as long as you can!

Look forward to hearing your updates...

TC, Cal
