Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Bethbe · 17/11/2006 09:50

NJ: Guess they don't worry about it where I live either. Glad I suppose, as it seems mildly ridiculous! Is it a serious task or just something MWs ask you to do to keep you busy/preocuppied?

Besides, I wouldn't have a clue how to/what to count and it'd drive me mad, coz I'd probably keep loosing count anyway!

When did the mw agree to give you a sweep NJ? I have an appointment this pm and might ask (only two days early)!

Bethbe · 17/11/2006 09:55

Time we started a new thread if us slow-connection people are to stand a chancee!

How about 'For sale: Half price Gaviscon - nearly new!'

NatalieJane · 17/11/2006 09:56

I think it is just a reassurance thing really, although obviously if you didn't count up to 10 in one day then it could be a sign of something going wrong, so I suppose it is a good thing to try and do mentally anyway if you think LO isn't being very active.

I am back at the midwives on Tuesday, which will make me 38+6, and as long as she doesn't change her mind again, she said she will do it then, though to be honest if everything is as settled by then as it is at the moment, I won't be pressing for it.

NatalieJane · 17/11/2006 09:57

Good idea re. new thread, but there is no way I am getting rid of my Rennies just yet - they have kept me alive for the last few weeks! LOL

Bethbe · 17/11/2006 10:07

Hurrah........ congratulations to me, - I just had my first bit of snot!

NatalieJane · 17/11/2006 10:13

PMSL Well done!!! - I take it you don't mean the sort that comes from your nose?!!

fatbetty · 17/11/2006 11:06

Today is my official due date and no signs of baby making an appearance. Had a MW appt yesterday and was disappointed that they wouldn't do a sweep. Have that schedule for Tuesday if nothing happens by then and suppose they will schedule an induction at that point too. MW recommended the raspberry tea and drank three cups last night!! Not the smartest idea on my part....I was up all night going to the bathroom!! At least it's the weekend again!!

DebbsyandBibby · 17/11/2006 11:13

what about nov 2006 bouncing babies galore

LadyAnne1stTimeMum · 17/11/2006 11:29

Hi all

Yes, the kick chart - I have to count ten movements between 9am and 5pm - If I don't feel ten movements in that time, I have to contact the MW. Bit daft really as baby moves at least twenty times before 9 then promptly falls asleep for several hours - obviously didn't realise the clocks went back - well at least it keeps me occupied.
I have a little more energy today - just can't decide what to do with it - need first lot of washing to dry (we have tumble/washing machine combi thing due to lack of space)before I put the next lot in. It's p**ing it down outside and we have no other space to dry stuff. I know I've got some boxes to sort in baby's room and need to push the vac round, I've also got to finish a painting for a friend ...I just can't decide where to start. Wasting most of it on playing stupid computer games ... I'm sure I'll get it sorted soon - must feed fish now - they are giving me filthy looks as I have been ignoring them.

All the best

LA

Kaybee7777 · 17/11/2006 13:28

afternoon everyone,
poor you saralou with DS having eczema and chickenpox! I have eczema and I am praying my lo doesn't get it as I never really grew out of it like most kids do!

I am due in 2 days and nothing is happening, no show, no real twinges, nothing! This afternoons plan is to clean the house and maybe have a brisk walk!

NatalieJane · 17/11/2006 14:49

FB, fingers crossed something does happen, it is horrible going over.
Sara, your poor little boy. I bet he is so uncomfortable.
Kaybee, fingers crossed things start for you soon as well.

I am the same as this morning, I have done another belly massage (do we think it is a waste of time?! Yes!!!) and I actually fell asleep , it is very unlike me to sleep in the day, I am normally way to worried that I would sleep through the school run! So that is two full nights sleep and a couple of hours today... something is going to happen to cock all of this lovely sleep up, I expect DS will be poorly over the weekend or something!

Kif · 17/11/2006 14:59

Hiya,

Details from Kif:

Baby boy; 7 pounds 11oz.

We've called him

Peter L ouie

Have had grief from my mum about how 'L ouie' is not a proper name and I should choose a 'respectful' proper name like John for a middle name.... anyone got a view on this? We think it is a nice and perfectly proper name, that balances 'Peter' nicely. Note I wrote it with a space, because she's been googling it!

As for the labour:

I was having contractions from Thursday night - tried not to pay too much attention to them - they tended to come and go. Phoned hubby in any case on Friday (I'm staying at my Mum's until new year to help us get on our feet). As soon as i saw him walking out of the station (Friday 1 p.m.) contractions kicked in more seriously.

It seemed like a good idea to go around the shops for the afternoon... then go out in the evening again walking round and round for hours, with breaks in the arcades for some mindless distraction.

Went home... and went to sleep (thought darn, braxton hicks). Early hours of the morning started getting killer contractions... every 45 mins. (wtf?) In the morning, stayed in bed, tried to relax; getting contractions every 10 mins.... thinking 'ho hum'. Then get out of bed, and immediately every 3 mins, hit me like a train. Got myself to hospital sharpish - was 7cm dilated - Peter arrived within the hour.

Find it very cute how this baby was keen to wait for Daddy! And also how he wanted to let me sleep! Found it much easier birth than Dd1. Inductions definitely more painful, not least because people keep prodding you and attaching things to you when you just want to be left alone.

Lost loads of blood aferwards though. After he was born, I ended up with six people around the bed trying to stop the bleeding. However, feeling OK afterwards.

He is super, super cute. Finding everything more relaxed second time around - not so worried. Obviously helps that my mum has been taking out Dd1. Think he's well on the way to being spoilt - he's a week old and I've yet to insist on him sleeping in his moses basket.

Kif · 17/11/2006 15:02

Oh - and I should record that on Friday I ate the hottest chilli I could make for lunch and dinner - may or may not be related

FoghornLeghorn · 17/11/2006 18:34

Well i've just noticed what could be described as a show of some sorts - no snot or mucus just a very noticable pink tinge when wiping after going for a wee.
Have been having period pains for about a week now but now having very different type of pains although not what I would describe as painful.

Typical timing, got our niece staying over tonight

FoghornLeghorn · 17/11/2006 18:37

Oh and what I meant to ask was ......

Dh somehow managed to drop DD right on my bump earlier, they were messing around on the sofa and he threw her without thinking right in my direction.
This wont be anything to do with the pinkness will it ? baby is moving so don't think its anything to worry about but just a niggling thought

schmizaj · 17/11/2006 19:03

Kif - The name is fab!!! Sure your mother should be too busy thinking of things to do for you / send to you, to be googling.....

I'm just checking in as have been without internet for a few days. I'm now 40+1, so officially over. But saw midwife today and I'm 2cm and she did a membrane sweep so who knows, maybe not long to go at all. The sweep was uncomfortable but not painful for those anticipating it. I find it more painful when they prod around down low looking for the head on the outside.

So just waiting for the real pain to begin.....

sighkotika · 17/11/2006 19:11

so my due date is here, and no sign of LO as yet sigh have tried the curry, the long walk, the walking up and down stairs, and enlisted DP for some help but still nowt. am i just being too impatient? lol

Charleesunnysunsun · 17/11/2006 19:54

FHLH - I had the pinkish thing about an hour before my contractions started and DS2 was born! who knows? But if your worried about being bounced on your bump do get it checked but baby is well cushioned in your waters.

Charleesunnysunsun · 17/11/2006 19:59

Forgot to add!

DS saw the Pediatrician today we finally got the ball rolling. His Brain scan was inconclusive as he was moving alot during it. He has been refered to the Convulsion specialist, the ear, nose and throat dr, the Childs respitory specialist and the dietician. They have asked us to completley cut dairy and milk out of his diet which is bloomin difficult as he's fussy about food as it is.

He had to have a few blood tests and we both came out crying the poor bugger screamed the plce down, he has abnomally thick blood like his mum and they took two atempts to get any blood from him in the end they had to call the consultant in to get it, i couldn't stand holding him down on my knee while they did it. He kept saying ouch and asking for them to stop it really broke my heart.

But were rolling, the dr's have defantly agreed he's not right and have promised to make a new man of him!

NatalieJane · 17/11/2006 21:46

Kif, thanks for the details!! I love the name Louie, it was on my list of possibles!
Charlee, I can't believe they kept you waiting an extra month for test results that were inconclusive Your poor little man Fingers crossed they put their money where their mouth is and get something sorted for him

Well I am either poorly, or I am in the very early stages of labour. I was fine all day, got to about 5 o'clock and suddenly felt really sick and generally crap, I didn't want dinner, but DH made me eat some toast, which perked me up a bit, but have been having quite mild but definite contractions more or less since, the baby has dropped down loads and I am feeling really shaky on my legs. It somehow feels different to all of the other contractions I have been having, I am not absolutely sure it is labour, but something has definitely changed some how.

NatalieJane · 18/11/2006 06:31

I am still waiting, still no idea if this is labour or if it is a bug or even if it is a bit of a reaction to the raspberry leaf tablets. There is a thread with all the details so far on in childbirth if anyone is bored enough to read it all, but basically I am still getting contractions, this is since 5 o'clock-ish last night, they have never lasted this long, I have only just woken up so I don't know if they are regular or not, but they certainly aren't very close together, and they aren't painfull at all, so make of that what you will! Answers on a postcard please

I have got to the point now where obviously I don't want it to all stop, but, I wouldn't mind something happening to show what the hell is going on, if it isn't labour is this how I am going to be until I do go into labour? And if it is labour, this has already been going on for 12 hours, how much longer is it going to take? (bearing in mind my first labour was just less than 12 hours!) I know, I know, how long is a piece of string.....

Sorry I have rambled, again

DebbsyandBibby · 18/11/2006 08:55

nj sorry your feeling like this again did you manage to sleep last nite?
Hopefully this will be it for you it does sound like something is happening though doesnt it?
Well me feeling really unwell woke up at 2 feeling sick and period type pain went downstairs, then i was eventually sick just feel really peculiar still feeling v v v sick no energy and backache...

NatalieJane · 18/11/2006 11:20

I still don't know which way this is going to go. If it isn't labour, I don't know what it possible can be, but at the same time, I don't feel that feeling that people describe when they just know they are in labour.

And yes strangly I did sleep, with not too much trouble as well, and I have been back to sleep, well a light 'snooze' on the sofa this morning.

I managed to get DH out to work this morning, when he comes home we are popping out so I will be walking around a bit, see if that changes anything.
