NatalieJane · 16/11/2006 13:52

HC, DS wouldn't have a dummy at all (he would spit it out) I was always worried he would take to sucking his thumb or something instead, which I personally find worse as you obviously can't take thumbs away.
Sara, I hope it turns out to be nothing more than a bug or something, could he have picked it up at your nephews party?
YM, it is lovely to hear how you are getting on, I won't comment on the BF as I failed quite miserably last time, but I'm sure someone will be able to help.

I have just been into town, I went to get some Raspberry Leaf Tablets, looked at the tea on the shelf and decided I just couldn't face it!! LOL Also got some lavender oil and clary sage essential oils, all from Holland and Barrets, (£18 odd it was, I was !!!) And I went to get Justin Timberlakes album for DS (Yes I know he is sad, but he is only 4!!!) and I saw an old Busta Rhymes CD that I used to listen to over and over when I was about 14, I had to buy it, apart from not understanding half of what he is saying, it is quite good! I don't think it will be on the play list for nice relaxing birthing music though!! LOL

NatalieJane · 16/11/2006 13:58

...Oh... um.... what do I actually do with these oils? I found a site about it the other day and now can't find it and can't remember what it said!! LOL

Charleesunnysunsun · 16/11/2006 14:01

Congrats Mygirl Can't wait to see you over at the post natal thread.

About the breastfeeding the only tips i can give (bearing in mind this is the first baby i have fed) all i can say is be persistant and try different positions harry is feeding 100% better now im holding him different. So try new positions and alos if like meyou have a baby who likes to throw thier arms about try swaddling with the arms wrapped by thier side i does help if you only have the head and breast to manover not two flailing arms aswell!

I hoe the rest of you are doing well, we must be getting there by now surley? Im sending big huge labour vibes to you all

We are ok here Harry is doing well and DS1 Jack is adjusting plus we have his hospital appointment tomorrow to get the ball rolling on curing him hopefully! Im ok not sore or anything although the pushing in labour has given me a small case of piles its funny how i have no qualms about breastfeeding in public or giving birth with my bits out for the whole labour suite to see but going into Boots to buy hemeroid cream almost killed me!

Hugs to all

Charleesunnysunsun · 16/11/2006 14:02

NJ - Put 10 drops of Clary Sage and 10 drops of Lavendar in a warm bath and massage your bump with the water. I did this about 3 days before harry arrived.

NatalieJane · 16/11/2006 14:06

Thanks Charlee

PMSL at going to boots How true is that?!!! LOL

I hope tomorrows appointment goes as well as it can be expected

Kaybee7777 · 16/11/2006 14:41

NJ you know you can get raspberry leaf tablets?! I got them a couple of weeks ago as i couldn't face the idea of tea!!

NatalieJane · 16/11/2006 14:47

Yep, I got the tablets after standing there looking at the tea, I knew I couldn't do the tea!

podglet · 16/11/2006 15:04

Congrats mygirl - look forward to seeing you on post natal! Lovely name too...

Charlee - also PMSL at the Boots comment, know exactly what you mean

DS (I love typing that!) has just started bellowing for his mid afternoon meal so I had better go...

Take care all,

40Weeks · 16/11/2006 16:22

Congrats to the new mums, well done, so pleased for you.
NJU - you can also burn the oils in a burner o just put a few drops into a bowl of boiling water or miz them with a base oil, (even baby oil will do) and get you DH to massage into your back. Thats supposeto be good for labour. But the bath is easiest and what I have been doing with mine.
Today is my due date and getting lots of concerned calls from people - one half of me thinks they are all lovely for thinking of me, but the other half of me wonders if they seriously think I am going to start making calls to let them know when I go into labour.....They all ask, 'Any news?' and I wonder if they really think I wouldnt say anything if I had had the baby by now?????!!! I might just turn my phone off....

LadyAnne1stTimeMum · 16/11/2006 17:21

Hi all

Re: the oils - I have loads as I was into Aromatherapy before PG. My MW though keeps telling me not to use lavender on your skin as it can lead to bleeding? Other books and what I thought before is that it's the safest oil to use in pg... very confusing - best to use an oil burner though - don't forget to add a drop of water to the burner and keep an eye on those candles... If going into hospital - you can't take the burner but mixing the oils with water to form a light spray - to spray in the room (not on face)should work and create a pleasanter atmosphere. No progress here, a few twinges, no contraction type things, kick chart completed by 1.30pm - baby definitely slowing down and seems very low in my abdomen today - I might as well take up residence in the bathroom! Only hint of nesting instinct is that after going to bed at 10.00 - I woke up at 1.00am feeling ready to take on the world ... couldn't decide what to do with the energy, so went back to bed and decided to practice pelvic floor exercises and relaxation techniques instead. Fell asleep again an hour or so later. Bizarre or what.

See ya all

LA

Hattie05 · 16/11/2006 17:22

HI everyone congrats to all the new arrivals! its happening fast now i can't keep up!

Well i was up all night with contractions, went to bed at 4am and woke this morning to find they had gone.
Been to midwife this morning and had contractions in the waiting room. she did a sweep and says i'm 2cm dilated with favourable cervix! head pressing right down on it. So DP and dd have marched me round the shops all afternoon to try and get things going. Have been left with cramps ever since the sweep so i really hope to see something happening soon! Mw was quite confident she thought it'd be soon.

Good luck everyone!

NatalieJane · 16/11/2006 20:12

Well I have done the bath thing, roped DH into a bit of ahem...help... massaged my belly with the oils, and am now having some pretty strong contractions but not really very regular, wait and see I suppose. It might just be the normal thing back again, I can't see it being the oils and DH's input working so quickly!!

Just thought I'd led you all know that, after beginning his journey at 3am on Thurs, Jack James made his appearance at 2.25 Friday 10th Nov (one day earlier than his due date).

Was in labour for 22.5 hours before I went in for an emergency c-section, though I was very lucky to have the epidural and see him. Jack James decided to come out weighing 10lbs 4oz, and considering I'm quite slight, I'm glad he didn't come tearing out of me.

We were in hospital until Monday (his breathing was monitored for two days), but now we are home and DH and I are absolutely in love!

youngmum21 · 16/11/2006 21:42

hattie - the pain but mw says im doing it rite and the fact that now she only feding for 5-10 mins at a time so maybe im doing it wrong again!!!

Any ideas?

DebbsyandBibby · 16/11/2006 21:54

nj anything yet?
wow congrats snow pea we have james for our bibbys middle name too
ahhhh this is making me more and more excited to think we will be holding our baby soon too.

Hattie05 · 16/11/2006 22:06

Congrats bcsnowpea!!

Youngmum, it is painful in the very early days but it won't last. Are you feeling the pain as your milk comes in? That will go away.
Every baby is different, many will feed short and often, and then enjoy a very long drawn out feed at the end of the day. whatever they do is fine, so long as they are content and start putting on weight etc. so long as your baby is pooing and weeing you're doing fine x

I would recommend you don't clock watch or count how many feeds. My dd used to feed very very often in the early days, just go with the flow and you'll be fine.

Its hard to feel confident that your body is providing everything your lo needs isn't it? But you really are! as much as you have grown it over the last 9mths you are still fully capable of feeding your dd now

NatalieJane · 16/11/2006 22:51

Huge congrats to Snowpea - Well done

I have just done another belly massage, (you can't OD on these things can you?) started taking the RLT, and bounced about on the birthing ball for half an hour and contractions have all but dissapeared! So I am off to my bed.

At least we might make it to the weekend, we have got a carpet cleaner and DH has promised to do my living room, dining room, and hall/stairs carpets as long as the baby isn't here by then - which isn't looking likely now!

Oh and that clary sage stuff absolutely reeks, it is horrible, my whole house smells of it

NatalieJane · 17/11/2006 09:18

Morning last off, first on again I see, I hope you are all off being too busy having babies!!

I had another good nights sleep last night, and didn't need to get up for a wee again I am actually feeling quite normal again now! I have already put two loads of washing on, cleaned the kitchen and the bathroom, made all the beds and hoovered the downstairs, thought I might as well get it done while I have the energy!! I have had loads of mild contractions this morning, but doing the cleaning (especially the hoovering) really sets them off because of the irritable uterus thing so I'm not thinking anything is starting.

It really does feel like it will be weeks away now, I don't feel at all ready for labour, and I actually had a funny minute this morning when it suddenly hit me that (by my dates, that I am still sure are more right than the scan dates) I am 39 weeks tomorrow, that is just absolutely ridiculus! Where have the last 9 months gone?

NatalieJane · 17/11/2006 09:20

Oh, and my belly feels lovely today all soft and shiny LOL

(I am freezing to death though, have had to open all the windows up to get rid of the smell of that clary sage - it had better be worth it!!!)

Bethbe · 17/11/2006 09:27

Morning!

Boring - nothing happening and due on Sunday! Well when I say nothing, obviously I mean plenty of dribble, dampness 'down there', heartburn, tiredness etc. but nothing to indicate any likely arrival!

LA: What's the kick chart all about?

NatalieJane · 17/11/2006 09:32

Can you believe we are already over half way through the month, and we still have about two thirds of the babies to be born yet?! And yet, we seem to get news of new babies on an almost daily basis!

Kick chart is just a chart to record the babies movements on, it is to make sure the baby is kicking at least 10 times a day, some areas seem to use it a lot, and others (mine for instance) it has never even been mentioned!
