Morning I am officially 38 weeks today - HOObloodyRAH!!!!

I had about 5 hours sleep last night so feeling a little bit more human today, still got lots of pressure in the front, and when I get a proper contraction (although not with BH's) I get loads of presure in my bum as well, not really sure what is going on in there, I don't think he has gotten any lower since being at the midwives yesterday, I think he must have either shifted a bit and has his head (or something) resting on my pubic bone or I have hurt myself when trying to half roll half fall off the bed in the morning! (You will all know what that half roll half fall is by now I'm sure LOL ) Along with the period pain that I don't think has gone since all of this started, that about sums me up this morning!

It is tipping it down again, so I don't know if I will make it into town or not today.

I feel so much better for having a night of only mild contractions, I don't mean just physically, normally I wake up in the morning and for the first few minutes I have to try really hard to not cry , and I have things that I say to myself over and over 'It won't be much longer' 'he will come when he is ready' etc. etc. This morning I didn't have any of that - it was bliss

DebbsyandBibby · 15/11/2006 09:41

glad your feeling better nj and mygirl.Mygirl do hope the contractions lead to something
i had a really good nites sleep went to bed at ten woke at 5 till 6.30 then dropped off again until 9.30 that is the most decent nites sleep ive had in months. x

DebbsyandBibby · 15/11/2006 09:49

Can i just ask has anyone's milk not come in yet?i keep squeezing my nipples but there is nothing, boobs arent even sore or that heavy either getting a little concerned about this.

NatalieJane · 15/11/2006 09:56

Morning sleepy head!! Don't worry about the milk, the real milk won't come in until a few days after the baby is born. Until then you will produce colustrum (or something like that) it is a sweater, fattier, more concentrated liquid that carries your anti-bodies to the baby. I think some people just don't 'leak' until the baby is here, but you might find that you are actually losing little droplets of this liquid, with out even knowing. You won't see it on your bras because it is literally a drop. Do you ever find little tiny flakes of stuff on your nipples?

staceym11 · 15/11/2006 09:59

oh nj i feel for you! sending all my hugs your way as i know how it feels!!!

congrats on all the new lo's!

hope all you gals suffering ends soon!!!!

NatalieJane · 15/11/2006 10:08

Meant to say as well Debbsy, I find one of my boobs leaks more than the other, but I have only had to actually put pads in a couple of times, and my boobs have never felt sore or felt heavy, even when I was BF DS, they did get very engorged (Think Jordan x5 and you will more or less be there!!) when the milk came in with DS, but after that had gone down my boobs hardly felt any different!

Stacey, lovely to hear from you How is little Keiran getting on?

LadyAnne1stTimeMum · 15/11/2006 11:27

Hi all

Had a very painful contraction - it stopped me in my tracks and I felt the urge to throw up and go to the loo at the same time - I haven't felt anything else since and saw no other signs - is this normal? I still have just under two weeks to go.

My boobs leaked this morning only a little though - In my family engorgment appears to be part and parcel of motherhood - something else to look forward to...

See ya all
LA

DebbsyandBibby · 15/11/2006 11:28

thanks for that nj yes i have noticed tiny flakes but none yesterday

saralou100 · 15/11/2006 11:47

oooooh men, why so irritating!!

morning all!!!

charlee, harry is gorgeous!!

congratulations kif!! please fill in the gaps soon when he stops crying, names etc

debbsy, my boobs have done nothing so far, not leaking anything and still the same size... exactly the same as with ds!

i have been looking into how PCOS affect's milk supply and it's making me a bit nervous about trying bf again, it was such hard work with ds and so upsetting, i'm not really sure what i want to do at the moment..

DebbsyandBibby · 15/11/2006 11:48

ooh ladyann are you going to be the next one i wonder .... whats your edd?

Kaybee7777 · 15/11/2006 12:26

Hi all
congratulations charlee, harry just looks lovely
Saw midwife this morning and she has told me to go to the hospital to get checked out as blood pressure is up, and i have been getting headaches and feeling a little sick.......
Am waiting for DH to come home from work though, as don't want to go by myself in case they want to keep me in

Kaybee7777 · 15/11/2006 12:28

oh and congrats to youngmum and kif too

LadyAnne1stTimeMum · 15/11/2006 12:46

Hi Debbsy

EDD is 27th Nov - we always thought it might be earlier, but at the moment I have nothing else to report except a desire to not be too far from the nearest toilet...

Baby is active again - so I don't think it wants out just yet - pity - i'll go for my usual trek up the road later and see if I can shift it (I'm planning to get some pineapple chunks down me as well)

Will keep you all posted

LA

Charleesunnysunsun · 15/11/2006 12:50

Thanks for your kind words he is rather gorgeous isn't he (i am rather bias though!)

The midwife has just been and done the heel prick test poor bugger screamed the place down! bless him.
He's putting on weight like a champ and is now back up to his birth weight. He's got an eye infection so he's constantly winking at me but we have some drops to quickly clear it up.

I hope your all doing ok. keep those babies coming!

Any yes harrogate mum that is me cleavage DP didn't position that photo as best he could! They have always been that size (think Jordan x5)

Hey all,

Thought it was about time I got back on here and posted a birth story for you. DH is being a good daddy and watching little Paige for me so we can have a little break!

Started having contractions about 5 mins apart at 11.37 (DH likes to be exact - specialy as he was just dropping off to sleep!). At 4am we phoned the labour ward as i was a bit shaky on my feet and went in to find i was 4cm.

Got in the bath at the hospital and dh went and called my mum as she wanted to be there. lost my plug all in one go in the bath much to my mums horror as apparently it was huge and she thought there was something wrong.

They got me out of the bath as i kept passing out and was only 5cm (mix of to much gas & air and pain) i then asked for an epidural. Anethatist arrives 5 mins latter to me screaming the labour ward down (appologies to anyone i scared out there!). I was completly out of it and could not open my eyes or talk just kept screaming for a good 10 mins with people trying to get me to come round from my spaced out state! had gone from 5cm to fully dilated in 5 mins.

After several positions to attempt to get hips wide enough for Paige to arrive she arrived swallowing meconium on the way (dh disappointed he did'nt get to cut cord but is happy she is fine.).

Ended up with second degree tears and had to be stiched up, apparently i kept cracking jokes throughout this whilst happily taking more gas and air.

Paige is perfect - mummy biased. Apart from feeding tantrums, sore stiches and mastitis in one breast we are all doing well.

Congrats to anyone else who is now with there lo's and sending lots of labour thoughts for the rest of you!

pinkmagic1 · 15/11/2006 13:32

Just to let you all know Yasmin was born on Sunday 12th, weighing 7lbs 8 and a half ounces. Had a good labour and birth, lasting 5 and a half hours from start to finish with just a tiny bit of gas and air and home the same day. A much better experience than last time round!
Congratulations to te others that have had their babies.

Delia · 15/11/2006 13:56

Congratulations Pinkmagic, well done.

DebbsyandBibby · 15/11/2006 13:57

Congrats pink magic

NatalieJane · 15/11/2006 14:47

Debbsy, the flakiness is dried 'milk', honestly don't worry about it, it doesn't mean you won't be able to feed or anything.
Kaybee, when is DH home? Hope it goes well, if I have missed you already.
Mygirl, I am really feeling for you at the minute. (I have baileys if that is any help? DH won't notice if I open just one bottle and a little bit is gone will he?!!)
Delia, it sounds a bit dramatic towards the end, but you did it!!! Well done
LA, anything else yet?

It seems I am having a break from everything today, except period pain and discharge (more than ever!) but I have hardly had any contractions, I have had a few very very mild BH's but I probably wouldn't have even noticed them if I'd have been doing something other than sat looking at what to get DS for christmas! I don't know if I am glad of the break, or feel even more pissed off because it is obviously not going to be today that he decides to arrive! LOL I can't believe I am saying this but 'BRING BACK MY CONTRACTIONS PLEASE' at least it felt like something was happening! LOL One good thing though, I haven't felt sick today, though I am surprised, you don't even want to know how many calories I have stuffed into myself today!!

NatalieJane · 15/11/2006 14:54

I have been meaning to ask this for a while now, but kept forgetting when I was on here, is anyone else dribbling in their sleep? Before I was pregnant, I would very very very rarely ever dribble but these last few weeks every time I go to sleep I wake up with a soaking wet pillow/hair/everything. Even if I drop off while sat on the sofa or something, I start dribbling and it wakes me up then because I'm not asleep properly. Sorry I know it isn't very nice, but wondered if anyone knew why.

Kaybee7777 · 15/11/2006 15:37

DH is on his way now, though i am really annoyed as he has taken so long. He said he'd leave at 2 and didnt leave work until 3.30. Men! Here I am worrying that the baby is coming/something is wrong etc etc and he is just pissing about...

About the dribbling, I think I have been doing that too, it is very weird! No explanation that I know of....

NatalieJane · 15/11/2006 15:43

Kaybee, if your DH is anything like mine he won't even realise that you are worried. I gave my DH a look of what he called utter misery the other day, and he said 'Are you getting a bit nervous now it is all getting so close?' I nearly flew at him with DS's car (only thing I had to hand) Sometimes they just don't get it until it has been spelt out to them.

Try not to worry too much though, even if something isn't quite right and you had to be delivered, the baby will be fine, it isn't too early or anything.
