40Weeks · 14/11/2006 16:00

Will be thinking of you NJ - have been having the tea since week 36 and its not as bad as I thought it would be taste wise....but have heard it helps so has to be worth a try eh? Good luck

NatalieJane · 14/11/2006 16:08

I know this might sound like a daft question, but where can I buy aromatherapy oils? I want quite a selection so I need a proper sort of shop for them. I don't mind if it is on line as long as it doesn't take days to deliver.

Any suggestions anyone?

DebbsyandBibby · 14/11/2006 16:27

nj what about ebay shops ?
still think its going to happen for you soon

NatalieJane · 14/11/2006 16:30

I thought about eBay, but I don't want to risk them not being here on time. I should have thought about it before I suppose. There is a healthy sort of stall/shop thing on our market, I wonder if they would do them, I don't know how good they will be though. It is just anything that makes me feel like I am doing something really, and then once labour does start it will be these sort of little things that keep my mind off the pain for a while I think!

Bethbe · 14/11/2006 16:44

surely you want to risk them not arriving in time, - sure way to get LO on their way is to be unprepared. Although, - I'm due on Sun and haven't packed my hospital bag which really doesn't seem to be working..........

SparklyfestiveYellowFeathers · 14/11/2006 16:52

Sorry ladies slight hijack!

Harrogatemum, not sure how up for it you'll be but Twinklemegan and I are meeting up for Coffee in Northallerton next tues or weds if you fancy it. Totally totally understand if you dont
I was you 12 weeks ago!

Ok finished now.
Good luck everyone

DebbsyandBibby · 14/11/2006 17:06

what sort of oils do you want nj one for labour?

DebbsyandBibby · 14/11/2006 17:23

If so ive got one from the mother and baby show and ive just looked on my bottle and there is a phone number its called
Labour day bath and massage blend
and the company are called Likisma Presentations Ltd phone number is 01933 440727 hth
ill have a look now for a website

NatalieJane · 14/11/2006 17:25

LOL Beth, you are very brave!! Having said that I keep meaning to sort out a bag incase we end up at hospital after all and haven't got round to it yet.

Debbsy yes I have a list of ones that are supposed to help, I'm not normally into all of these therapys and things but it is like I said I just want to feel like I am doing something, and everything else is done.

oinker · 14/11/2006 17:27

Mygirl.....

GOOD LUCK

NatalieJane · 14/11/2006 17:28

Thanks Debbsy, I am going to go into town and see about this stall thing on the market, I say market it is like an indoor thing, it is little shops really. I have gotten clove oil before from there, so I think they will have something along the lines of what I am after. If not then I am sure there are places that you can order them on line.

DebbsyandBibby · 14/11/2006 17:30

There is a website too likisma online .co.uk then you click on order products its on there too
Good luck mygirl
Well i must be mrs organised then cos i packed my bags last week

Bethbe · 14/11/2006 17:34

I'm booked into an active birth centre and they keep stressing that the best form of pain relief is distraction, - so it's best to try lots of different things coz even if they don't work, just changing the environment,'playing' with oils, trying different things, all gives you something else to think about, do during contractions and and pass the time!

Of course, - so does a GA!

wannaBe1974 · 14/11/2006 17:35

hiya all can I highjack for a second... do lurk on this thread occasionally as looking out for NJ's lo...

natallie you might want to try

this site

for oils.

saralou100 · 14/11/2006 17:46

hi all

congratulations youngmum.. and a very belated congratulations to awayfromhome!

saw the madwife today.. everything fine.. baby's head is still high up though and is laying with it's back to mine, which i kind of worked out as been getting a lot of backache these last 2 days! i see her in 2 weeks, when i'll be overdue so she can arrange induction.. she wasn't very optimistic about this baby coming out any time soon!!

NatalieJane · 14/11/2006 17:49

Thanks girls, I will have a look tomorrow if no joy in town.

I wish DH would hurry up and get home, I hate having contractions when it is only me and DS, I don't feel like I can relax with them until he is here, which makes them hurt more because I am tense....

NatalieJane · 14/11/2006 17:51

Speak, of the devil, he has just walked in the door!!

See you all later.

mummyhill · 14/11/2006 18:24

Here is another good firm that I have used when purchasing essential oils quinessence . I have worked for likisma and their oils are of a very high quality as are those available at quinessence.

Charleesunnysunsun · 14/11/2006 18:34

I just posted a picture of Harry here is anyones interested.

Sorry your m/w wouldn't do the sweep NJ, i really hope your LO decides to arrive soon.

I agree about the distraction thing in labour i was activley talking to my DP and mum whilst having contractions and focusing on something in the room whilst breathing it made it easier for me.

I hope your all having a nice evening either having babies or if not comfortable with no pain or stress

40Weeks · 14/11/2006 19:03

He is beautiful Charlee - you must be so proud. Have a good evening everyone, I am about to have my dinner. And then loads of pineapple!

Also, NJ, Neals Yard do good oils, although I am not sure how many stores they have but you can order online. Rose Oil (supposed to help with bringing on contractions) and Jasmine are good for labour - analgesic and anti-spasmodic (dont use the jasmine before labour though) and lavender and geranium are excellent for relaxing you, water retention, and milk supply. There are laods of sites worth looking up at what you can use.

harrogatemum · 14/11/2006 19:32

Charlee - he is gorgeous! And might I say how impressed I was by your cleavage too (assuming thats you!!) Am just jealous - even in pregnancy I still have beestings!

Kif · 14/11/2006 20:32

Quick note - baby boy on saturday!

v cute - but on third 'now you hear me cry' day at the momen!

Hattie05 · 14/11/2006 21:41

Congrats kif! and also to Youngmum, i'm sorry i must have missed your post before.

OP posts:
NatalieJane · 14/11/2006 23:20

Kif - Huge congratulations!!
Charlee - What a gorgeous little thing he is How are you feeling now?

Nothing much happening here now, I had contractions almost constantly walking around Tesco, got home, sat down, tried to eat some food, gave up trying to eat some food, and the contractions have stopped. Now the baby is going absolutely mad in there, and I can feel loads of pressure again, but not in my bum tonight, more in front but very low down, it isn't very comfortable at all and is bordering on being painful actually, I have no idea what that is but there we go.

NatalieJane · 14/11/2006 23:24

OK I lied, the contractions had stopped, but I have just had another one. I thought I was going to get away with it for the night
