Happy Easter everyone!
Hope you've all had a lovely day so far.
Welcome all the new ladies and congratulations!!

Kezod how is the spotting?

So I am 11 weeks today, I just can't believe I've got this far!

Gaggia, we had the same last Monday where baby was asleep, then the mw said something and I laughed and it woke baby up ha ha :) Next scan week tomorrow, then I have my 'normal' 12 week scan within a week of that one. Dally getting booked this Friday!

Choccywoccydodah · 05/04/2015 16:10

*finally not dally!

batfish · 05/04/2015 19:07

Just popping in...

On the subject of testing and in answer to your question toast the screening offered by the NHS is not just for Down's syndrome but also the chromosomal abnormalities Patau's & Edward's.

Patau's & Edward's are really horrible disorders, babies are either stillborn or die very soon after birth from multiple complex problems.

So if you're planning on not having any screening I guess it's worth considering what you would do if the 20 week scan showed 'markers' for these syndrome, do you then have an amino then? And if you decide to have the testing so you know if you are high risk for Down's but don't want an amino what do you do if it comes back high risk for one of the other disorders? Just things to think about really. It's not as simple as just considering what you would do if the baby had Down's. Luckily the other disorders are very rare though.

We would terminate for Down's syndrome, because we have two other children to consider & I do not feel it would be fair on them to bring a child with Down's into our family.

Anyway onto more cheerful matters I am now 12 weeks plus and still waiting for my scan! Grrrr! Will ring them Tuesday.

RhiannonElward · 05/04/2015 22:00

toobreathless I asked my midwife about Patau's and Edwards and was told they only test for Down's here, I'm in Wales though so maybe we're different? I would definitely follow up your scan too, you need to be scanned by 14 weeks for an accurate Down's test so they'll need to hurry your appointment, put your bloody foot down and hopefully they'll sort it out for you.

Choccywoccydodah · 06/04/2015 07:59

Definitely ring them toobreathless as like Rhiannon said, you've got to have you're scan by 13+6 for the NT test.
My booking appt is this Friday at 11+5. I rang them last week to book in my scan before my appt and they said they were going to ring through there and then at my appt to get my scan booked in so not to worry.
Despite us taking so long to get here and the heartbreak of so many losses, like you, we would terminate if Downs. We also have a ds and it would not be fair on him, but also we don't think we would cope as parents. I have a childhood friend whose sister was downs and I saw what her parents, and her as a sibling, went through. I also have another childhood friend whose little brother was downs, and the same again.

Beautytobe · 06/04/2015 11:09

Anyone on baby number 2? Am due my second am nearly 12 weeks and I have a full bump like I had when I was like 16-18 weeks with my first.

Choccywoccydodah · 06/04/2015 11:12

Hi beauty, im on number 2, and 11+1. I didn't get much of a bump with my ds, and didn't start showing anything baby bump like until 24-26 weeks. Hoping for the same this time of I'm honest! :)

Allstoppedup · 06/04/2015 12:52

Hi beauty cooking number 2 here as well! I was pretty big early on with my first and I'm huuuge now at 14 weeks! Grin

Beautytobe · 06/04/2015 15:43

gingerbreadmam · 06/04/2015 16:44

i know theres a few of us with scans tomo, hows everyone feeling? im a bit nervous!

Ca55andraMortmain · 06/04/2015 16:53

Hi everyone, just catching up. We had put scan on Friday and all was well, little bean was so wriggly, we saw him/ her stretching and rolling over etc, it was lovely. Unfortunately, my sickness got worse and worse over the weekend until I was admired into hospital yesterday afternoon to get fluids and stronger anti emetics. I feel so much better now, it's unbelievable, let's hope it lasts! Bit jealous of all of you with bumps, I've lost 1st 6lbs and no hint of a bump!

boredandtired31 · 06/04/2015 17:44

Oh no Ca55andra! I'm glad your feeling a bit better for your admission but not nice that your still feeling poorly. I think mine was probably IVF related because its mostly gone now and I've weaned myself off my cyclizine completely. MW agreed on Friday that I was misdiagnosed.

Feeling like a blimp, went out briefly today to sit by the river and my jeans are completely undone. I used a hair band to link them up to start but that was too tight. Just put a long top over them to cover up - really need to go shopping now. Its not a bump though, just flab and water.

Superexcited · 06/04/2015 18:40

I have lost 10lb but i have also developed a bump and my clothes are tight around the middle but loose around the legs. I'm waiting until after my scan on Weds to go and buy some maternity trousers and bras.

batfish · 06/04/2015 20:00

boredandtired I'm with you on the belly - I bought a pair of maternity jeans today as nothing will fasten and I'm coming back to UK next week for a visit and have nothing to wear. Feel like a total idiot wearing maternity jeans on my wobbly belly but don't know what else to do. Feel humongous in general but just in a fat rather than pregnant way. The only thing that stopped me from crying during the shopping trip was the fake pregnant belly I got to wear im the changing room, brilliant fun!

ca55andra you poor love I hope you feel better soon even if I am majorly jealous of your weight loss - fingers crossed you will be over the worst of it and get some energy back, can't imagine how awful you must be feeling

Ladypug · 07/04/2015 10:51

Hi all,

I haven't caught up on the thread yet but just popping in to say hi. I have my scan today and I'm proper freaking out. I'm worried there will be no baby there, I'm terrified of blood being taken, I'm just a wreck and I'm at work trying to hold it together! ARGH! How is everyone else? x

Fizzy13 · 07/04/2015 11:25

Morning everyone.
Just thought I'd drop in to celebrate the magical 15 weeks. I feel like a person again! There is light at the end of the tunnel.
I also seem to have grown a bump over the weekend and am now in desperate need of new work trousers!

gingerbreadmam · 07/04/2015 11:34

mine today too ladypug like u im nervous about scan and bloods. all for a good cause tho. will feel relieved once its all over Smile

whoknew28 · 07/04/2015 11:34

Ladypug - distract yourself as much as possible! That was my tactic. Remember that it's so much more likely to be completely fine than anything else. Just take one bit at a time, you'll be okay! Good luck x

whoknew28 · 07/04/2015 11:35

And good luck ginger too of course! Post up those pics later if you want/can!

RhiannonElward · 07/04/2015 12:13

Hi there everyone, sorry to hear you're so poorly Ca55andra, just morning sickness is depressing enough, HG sounds horrendous and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Glad you're feeling better for the treatment though :)

I had my scan today! I'm now 13+1 so my due date in October 12th. Baby is fine and healthy although I didn't have the Down's screening so apart from baby being alive and the right size there isn't much to report. Here's a couple of pics :)

October baby bus take 3- booking in appointments and scans, here we come!

Ladypug · 07/04/2015 12:32

Hi Ginger, what time is yours? I have a few hours to go, I'm terrified! Fingers crossed for a healthy bub! God I hope I don't faint and make a dick of myself! x ps gorgeous scan pics Rhiannon, well done! :-)

RhiannonElward · 07/04/2015 12:43

Thanks Ladypug, and I know me saying this isn't going to help a lot, but it really is going to be fine. It's so lovely to see the baby and I am so at ease now.

I always try to get scans for early in the morning because I drive myself nuts all day waiting for them, if you explain to whoever you book your next scan with that you want a morning appointment for that reason they'll do their best for you I'm sure. Please let us know how you get on, and don't worry if you faint, I'm sure they've seen it all and they might give you extra pictures for being emotional (I got some extras when having my first for sobbing uncontrollably with joy throughout the entire scan Blush )

sleepyMe12 · 07/04/2015 12:44

Good luck with the scans today. Lovely scan pic same due date as me Smile.
I can't believe how big I look Confused I look like I did at 5/6 months with DD Only have put on 2lb aswell.

Ladypug · 07/04/2015 12:55

Thanks so much Rhiannon, that makes me feel better! I hope I can hold it together but I'm sure you're right and they really have seen it all before! xx
