Aww, thanks Ga, I've missed you lot too but I've been a genuine mess of a human being lately and unable to muster the energy to post much, although all you with HG are putting me to shame for keeping their sense of humour.

Fallinggracefully · 03/04/2015 15:42

Hello! It has been weeks since I last managed to so much as read the thread but it's Easter Holiday now so I'll try and keep up! So sorry for your loss Adventure and I hope you get test results and reassurance soon Nonny. Is it Angus who can add me to FB group? Probably got more chance of keeping up on there! We had our 12wk scan yesterday. Everything looked good and due on 18th October. I hope you've all got nice things planned for the long weekend? We are going to see DHs family on Subday so will tell them all about the baby then.

gaggiagirl · 03/04/2015 16:12

falling I'm an admin on the group so I can too although I've never tried it but pm me your e mail and Ill give it a go.

kezod · 03/04/2015 17:15

Hi ladies
Sounds as though its been a difficult week for some. I had a minor bleed yesterday, bright red blood (at precisely 5pm when everything shuts for the bank holiday!) Phoned Gynae and they said dont worry unless it continues and then go to A&E or GPOOHs for a referral for a scan (but even that way it wont be until Tue!) Its crazy how it all shuts down!
Anyway its stopped, I had no pain and apart from a hideous cold I feel fine, I still have 11 days to wait until my scan... its taking forever!

On a different note I also bought a Maternity bra and like you batfish I wider but no bigger (yet) but so much more comfy. So then I bought some baggy trousers and my life has been transformed (no more uncomfortable buttons!)

Adventuregame · 03/04/2015 17:58

Hi ladies,
So I ended up having the ERPC done privately yesterday. Cost a small fortune but it was the right decision. I didn't want to wait over a week. I ended up being kept there for longer than normal after as it turned out my blood type is rhesus negative so I had to have the anti D injection. As far as I'm aware that wasn't the reason for the pregnancy loss but I go for a follow up in 2 weeks time so will ask the consultant more about it and what it means for any future pregnancies ?
Thanks for all your support - I'm glad most of you are having positive scans !!

whoknew28 · 03/04/2015 18:43

Oh Adventure, hope you start to heal up physically and mentally soon - it does take a while. I opted for the private option rather than waiting too, we're still paying for it (!) but it was worth the closure and relative peace of mind. Look after yourself and don't rush back to work/life if you can, give yourself some time. Thinking of you x

whoknew28 · 03/04/2015 18:44

Kezod - hope you're okay, so hopeless isn't it?! Not allowed to need help on the weekends or bank hold! Mad! Take care x

minijoeyjojo · 03/04/2015 18:48

I'm just catching up too. Adventure I'm so sorry for your loss - sounds like you made the right decision getting the ERPC done. I hope are ok and that your DP is looking after you.

I've been feeling lots of twinges and aches around my hips and gluteals. I guess it's everything moving about a bit and relaxing but is anyone getting similar?

NonnyBunny · 03/04/2015 21:39

Hi minijoey I'm 13+1 and lots of hip and gluteal twinges especially in the last 2 weeks although no sign of a bump yet. Have def out on weight but I think that's more lack of exercise and too much snacking Blush

Thanks, fallinggracefully, still waiting... Only 5 days to go now, and hopefully I'll know what I'm dealing with. I'm aware that even if the tests are clear there may be something else causing the increased nuchal but would still be a huge relief to rule out the main 3 syndromes.

nellorr · 04/04/2015 09:10

Hi everyone... I'm a bit slow joining the party, hope I'm ok to join!
I'm 11 + 1, due 23/10, scan tomorrow (living in the Middle East so Sunday is our Monday), enormous comical boobs, awful morning sickness for 4 weeks but woke up at 11 wks exactly, scoffed a full English breakfast and have been fine since... This has caused a mixture of relief and "where have my pregnancy hormones gone... F**k"... Have just developed a potbelly overnight but that could be constipation.

I'll have a bash at catching up on the 400 other messages now!!

RhiannonElward · 04/04/2015 09:18

Hi Nellorr, welcome. Congratulations on your morning sickness buggering off, I'm 12+4 and have felt much better the last few days too and it is such a relief. Good luck for your scan tomorrow and do let us know how it goes :)

gingerbreadmam · 04/04/2015 10:12

ahh id asked earlier up thread about hip twinges. mine are mostly through the night and kind of feels like cramp right at the very top of my outer leg. assumed everything just changing. kinda feels a bit different when i walk too.

batfish · 04/04/2015 10:57

hi nellor and welcome! I live in Middle East too so also not happy about the fact that it is work tomorrow Sad

adventure I'm glad you had your procedure done and hope it means you can start to heal, thinking of you.

Superexcited · 04/04/2015 13:32

Hi everyone.
I'm a bit late joining and haven't read all the posts that, but I will get around to it later today. I'm due Mid Oct and have my dating scan later this week, very nervous as it's the school hols and DH will need to look after the children so I will be going to the scan on my own. Fortunately we had a private early scan a few weeks ago and everything was fine at that stage. I am already showing (and my clothes are tight) despite being only 12 weeks and having lost half a stone but I daren't go and buy and new clothes until after the scan.
So nice to jump on the bus!

boredandtired31 · 04/04/2015 17:26

Rhiannon, I'm trying to decide at the moment if I want any Down's tests done. I'm trying to get DH to read the info so we can have a sensible convo about it but he is dodging the issue massively. Scan is on 16th April (I'll be 13+2). I defo wouldn't have any of the follow on diagnostic tests that carry even a tiny risk of mc - we have tried too hard for this baby and I just couldn't bear it so is there any point us having the initial test? I'm thinking if negative it would provide reassurance but if positive it could cause us undue worry as not a definitive test anyway. Still a lot of thinking to do on this one for me.

RhiannonElward · 04/04/2015 17:51

boredandtired yes it's tricky, but I've just decided to go into it without any stats, and be prepared for what might happen but without worrying. If I got a high likelihood of Down's I'd worry and if I had a low risk result I'd probably be complacent, so I don't see the point for me. If there are clues on the scan then I'll take those for what they are, but I don't want to be given a number that's actually not that accurate to base my plans on. I don't want the more accurate tests because they carry risks I'm not prepared to take.

Your dp might find it useful to get all the information they can give, and my dp was pretty sceptical that I was making the right decision but my midwife was really supportive and dp was reassured by that. Try and arrange a conversation but if dp doesn't want to discuss it then tell him you'll have to make the decision alone then. Dp might be happy for you to decide if he doesn't have an opinion on the matter, but of course you'll want to feel like he's interested and backing you up. Good luck with whatever you decide to do, and I hope you manage to get your partner involved, I know my DP is prone to glazing over whenever I start discussing the ins and outs of pregnancy so I know how frustrating that can be.

boredandtired31 · 04/04/2015 18:42

Thanks Rhiannon, its really helpful to get someone else's POV.

Superexcited · 04/04/2015 19:37

Boredandtired I declined downs testing in my first two pregnancies but I have decided to have the NT scan and blood test this time around (mainly because I am a decade older). If it comes back high risk then we won't go ahead with the amnio test but at least we will be able to prepare for the high risk that we could have a child with downs. We already have a disabled child and his disability is one which no amount of tests could pick up so we are not concerned about raising a child with a disability, it's more so we can prepare ourselves. I totally understand that it seems pointless having the initial tests done, but it's just so we know what to expect. It has taken us 4 years to conceive so I wouldn't want any invasive tests done which have a small risk of mc.

boredandtired31 · 04/04/2015 21:29

Thanks Super. I've had a brief chat with DH tonight about it - progress! We have a bit more time to decide but I think DH and I are thinking along the same lines which is good. Thanks for sharing and not judging - its nice to have a place to discuss these things.

Toast85 · 04/04/2015 21:39

We're also having initial tests done with no intention whatsoever of having further invasive testing, whatever the results are. It's just to have chance to prepare if the risk is high.
Oh does anyone know- does the combined test give an indication of risk of other chromosomal diseases, or is it only for Down's syndrome?

TheDisillusionedAnarchist · 04/04/2015 21:48

boredandtired, I used to think I would decline screening but talked it over with the screening midwife and decided while I wouldn't have invasive testing (not keen to risk miscarriage after so long TTC), but if I had a high risk result, I would want them to manage the pregnancy as if the baby had Down syndrome because of the high risk of stillbirth and late miscarriages in pregnancies where the baby had Down syndrome. I would have wanted growth scans and dopplers and a fetal echo so we knew the baby would be monitored closely and born in the right place if it did happen to have Down syndrome.

As it turned out the nuchal was low risk so I didn't have to put my plans into action but am going to need the dopplers anyway because the Papp A was low.

nellorr · 05/04/2015 09:37

Hi. Thanks for the warm welcome.

I think I'm totally unprepared for today's scan, I haven't even considered whether I'd have invasive testing or not!

Batfish, where do you live in the ME? We're in Bahrain.

Happy Easter, everyone... Hope you're all well enough to scoff chocolate.

gaggiagirl · 05/04/2015 10:20

nell will you post scan pics on the facebook group? We would love to see them, or here of course.
PM me if your not already on the facebook group I'll add you on.

nellorr · 05/04/2015 10:36

Gaggiagirl, I've sent you a private message about adding me on fb.

Let's see if the little froggy takes a decent picture.. My nephew was busy pulling moonies on his 12wk scan, my sister was in there ages trying to get him to change positions!

gaggiagirl · 05/04/2015 11:35

Mine wouldn't behave for my 12wk scan. Think s/he was sleeping and thumb sucking. I wanted to see gymnastics!
