Welcome to the 13th April 2015 babies thread!

The stats thread is here and we have a handy spreadsheet here

If anyone wants to join the FB group who hasn’t already, PM me your email address and I’ll send you an invite!

We’re in the home stretch ladies, we've had the first baby, how many more threads can we manage before the last baby is here?

What does that mean FiRaffe in terms of baby's health and delivery? Did they give you explanation as to possible reasons? I won't tell you not to worry as you will but hoping all is good in 2 weeks!

Sorry to hear that Lauren8200, hope that you manage to resolve whatever it is.

Watching OBEM, already feeling :( at the couple whoae baby had heart valve defect detected at 20wks scan.

FiRaffe · 10/03/2015 21:21

RL - it was from a proper scan, although baby was being a bit of a pain having their arm across the tummy so made measuring a bit difficult. Once she did get a measurement it was saying 31+5 and we're 33+4 today.

Thanks for all your kind comments. I know we're in an age where medical personnel can do a lot of things to make babies ok, but it doesn't stop that maternal worry I guess.

Might have to make cake at the weekend at this rate... my mum is coming down to help decorate the nursery with DH so maybe I'll do that once they start doing things!!

FiRaffe · 10/03/2015 21:23

Sorry cross-posted cinnamon.

They didn't really say anything about delivery or health, the consultant was very much pushing the "it might be normal, we'll see in 2 weeks"... she did say though that Mums worry about big babies and Doctors worry about small ones, which made me chuckle.

Hope I'll get through OBEM without crying, but doesn't look likely at the mo!

TheBooMonster · 10/03/2015 21:24

I've added someone with your name daholster and am hoping I have the right one!

I took the tramadol in the end, it's taken the edge off, but it's still not great, am now watching One Born and eating root veg mash!

hope your OH sorts himself out lauren!

Are they wanting some growth or along the same line FiRaffe? I don't worry about big babies but midwives seem too! My friends little girl was very small and had actually stopped growing at 28weeks so was in scbu for a week but she's now a very bright healthy 7 year old (who's still tiny) so they watched her like a hawk with her second pregnancy, she had a bruiser considering she was born by cs 4 weeks early and is nearly bigger than her sister now!

TheBooMonster · 10/03/2015 21:31

Oh, I know some of you are using Natal Hypnotherapy or Hypnobirthing, someone posted this document up on one of my FB groups so I figured I'd share it!

I'm getting annoyed at this bloke!!!! He's tired, hes emotional, he's stressed, hes leaving for her having an epidural, oh dear poor man! Lucky she has a mum who she's close to, I wouldn't be able to have my mum anywhere near, so lucky my man was there for me unconditionally when I was in labour.

Lauren82000 · 10/03/2015 21:43

We are now speaking. It was over something and nothing. He was upstairs with DD tidying her room (I was ironing) and he left her alone for 2 seconds and she spilt her drink all over herself and her bed. He shouted down what she had done like I was going to fix it instead of using his common sense and putting it on the radiator to try and dry the quilt. Or even taking the wet cover off would of helped. Confused My poor little moody brain just went for it and yelled the house down. Blush

Thinking it's time for bed now. DH is watching walking dead and I haven't watched it for about 3 seasons now so I'm lost. Got some nice steady hiccups in my bum so it appears baby is still head down. Grin Think I can hear DD crying so better go and see what's up.

TheBooMonster · 10/03/2015 21:52

cinnamon if my DH pulls that kind of crap he'll be kicked out of the room, and he's been told as much! That bloke's being so bloody unsupportive of her needs, she's in labour, he should put all of his worry aside and be there for her!!

lauren that's the kind of thing that my DH does, or he'll go into some sort of skitz because he doesn't know where her clean duvet covers are and looking in the airing cupboard where ours are doesn't cross his mind, so instead he's gone through every drawer in her room, and 'the cupboard of doom' trying to find the sheets! I think it might be a man thing...

Sorry about your argument Lauren hormones are rubbish it takes absolutely nothing to set me off now in terms of grumpiness or tears!

Hope your head is getting better Boo and thanks for adding to fb Smile

Also watching OBEM I'm starting to get really nervous about my induction now Confused!!

Lauren82000 · 10/03/2015 22:00

Well I laughed to myself later on when I heard him trying to work the microwave to reheat his tea. In fairness we've only had it a couple if months but he only knows how to use the 30sec button so seemed like he pressed it a million times. (The instructions are still tucked down the side if it, if he'd seen them he would know how to use it properly.)Smile

FiRaffe · 10/03/2015 22:05

Yep Cinnamon - want to check growth along the line and if they are still growing okay they are just likely to be little, but then it turns out DH and I were both just over 6lbs and it seems to be possible to run in the family.

I can see DH panicking in labour because of me being in pain but thankfully he won't be making it all about him like that guy seemed to be. And the guy in the birthing pool next week....He should be fun!

smogsville · 10/03/2015 22:05

I told my DH it was unacceptable for him not to know where replacement sheets live. It's a 3 bed terrace FFS not a mansion. They're very quick to ask aren't they, the men. They rarely think to look first.

Obviously I am free to nitpick about his many shortcomings because I'm perfect in every way Blush

mswibble · 10/03/2015 22:10

We're still not speaking ... I'm exhausted and I haven't got the energy for a discussion, never mind a row. There is no way I'm on the sofa again tonight, on my way up for an early one.
Bambino seemed to enjoy OBEM - he's spent the last hour merrily kicking me to bits! He seems to be in position tonight though, usually he's lay across in the evenings and my bump is massively lopsided but I think he's head down.

33+5

Lauren82000 · 10/03/2015 22:12

Aren't we all Smogs Grin I was reminded I shouted, swore and cried in front of DD when he apologised Blush I seriously don't remember swearing oh well. All sorted and forgotten till next time the hormones take over.

AnniaFausta · 10/03/2015 22:13

Lauren, sorry you and DP have had a barney - hope you get some resolution before you go to bed.

FiRaffe, hope your scan in a fortnight is better - at least you know you can get properly stuck into your grub.

Mini, I was sitting in my office chair, leaning forward because baby was having a good old wriggle, and it... just... twisted at the right angle to give me a proper elbow into the right knee! That was when I went downstairs and got the ball to sit on... I might have the desk at boob level rather than waist level, but frankly if I'm getting that much movement I'd like to try and use it for optimal fetal positioning if at all possible!

NCT this evening was fine, although if I can avoid any interventions I shall be a very happy lady. It was quite funny to notice that the five women congregated in the kitchen to have a chat and a natter, as opposed to the first session when we were all standing around with our partners looking a bit nervous. Guess all this social bonding stuff works, then. Not that you need to tell Mumsnetters that ;)

smogsville · 10/03/2015 22:14

Glad to hear it Lauren and mswibble, well done on claiming the bed. I hope you and your DH sort it out.

cinnamongreyhound · 10/03/2015 22:15

I'm knackered! Off to bed, hope we all have a good night! Got to wake dh to go to bed!!!!

Yea, squatting it was a lot less focused on the ladies this time, and seemed shorter, though I can't think it actually was.

smogs we're growing babies, we may not be perfect, but we are godlike :P

On the fb thread now too but strangely it feels more comfortable here, much more anonymous... Think I'll only share photos/announcements on fb if that's ok (and here too of course!)

Superstar dad has just been a bit if a pain in the arse nattering at me for an extra 30 mins... At 22.40 I said I was going to bed but realised he was cleaning the kitchen so helped a bit so I could put the dishwasher on. He found my iron tablet and a biscuit to take with it so we had a bit of a chat - he made himself a coffee. Prob around 23.10 I could have gone up politely but he talked and talked and talked... Now I'm super tired and if dd wakes I will be a zombie again and I was just starting to feel a little better! Please sleep dd please sleep please sleep mummy unashamedly begs for mercy in the sleeping stakes

So to sleep!!! Night everyone.

PenguinPoser · 10/03/2015 23:58

Have to say OBEM made epidurals look good! Also I think it probably skimmed over how long those women being induced were actually there for! Cute babies though and they all looked happy at the end.

Just been to 24h asda is desperation to unblock my nose. Was stressing about using sinex spray so have got some saline drops and will see if they're any good - so far so good touch wood although I might have used more than the suggested amount

Wishing good nights sleep all around including myself!

RiverRocks · 11/03/2015 06:54

Penguin have you tried vicks/olbas oil in hot water? The nurse recommended that to me and it does seem to have helped, though the bedroom smells funny now.

Sorry to hear about all the disagreements. Hormones are hard to handle, but add them to everything else we're going through. Although your DP is being very unreasonable mswibble. Short visits are fine but having someone in the house full time who you're not completely comfortable with and quite frankly don't want is too much to ask.

DMIL lives a 7 hour train ride away. She's planning to stay with her sister (1.5 hours away) and pop in to see us in the early days, and then stay in a hotel nearby a bit later on. Usually I would be the first to say come stay, but I want time to get to know my baby with my husband and I don't see why I need to justify that.

Another bad night for me. Been awake since 4.30; keep getting cramp in my hips which wakes me up, then I need the loo, and getting up is such a farce I then struggle to go back to sleep. Roll on 2 weeks tomorrow!

Lauren82000 · 11/03/2015 07:01

Well I reasonable night had by all in the Lauren household. Didn't wake up for a wee till 4 and then had some paracetamol because I thought I was getting a bit of a headache and couldn't be bothered waking up with a full on one. Then DD woke me up at 6.30 telling me she had finished pooing so had to get up to wipe her bum. Not the best wake up but I don't feel so tired this morning so must have gotten some decent sleep. Although I vaguely remember some hiccups halfway up my bump thinking the baby had turned again Confused

cinnamongreyhound · 11/03/2015 07:05

Not that I want to slag off epidurals PenguinPoser but it most likely was a contributing factor to the second lady having a forcep delivery.

4.30 must be the time to be awake RiverRocks. Ds2 had a bad dream and didn't quite make it to the toilet then too.
