Welcome to the 13th April 2015 babies thread!

The stats thread is here and we have a handy spreadsheet here

If anyone wants to join the FB group who hasn’t already, PM me your email address and I’ll send you an invite!

We’re in the home stretch ladies, we've had the first baby, how many more threads can we manage before the last baby is here?

Chicken you can get little round cool packs with a hole in the middle for your nipple. I think mine are under the sink, I bought them but luckily didn't need them. But I do sympathise with baby not latching. Apparently early babies have trouble feeding because they haven't had as much practice sucking. (I read that on something today) it could be rubbish as DD was 2 weeks over cooked and still took a while to get the hang of it.

I've done something to my bum. Left side really hurts when I walk. ConfusedStarted this afternoon at work, currently rocking myself back and forth on my knees with my ball. DH is looking at me funny. Smile

RL20 · 18/03/2015 19:57

FiRaffe I agree with smog. Mine tends to go soft and hard at different times, so could be and hopefully is nothing to worry about.
I've actually just nipped to the shop (which is only on the same road as us) and I started to get a twinge pain high up on my bump which made it quite uncomfortable to walk and I me feel like a balloon. I feel like everything inside me has been moved very high up into my chest! Confused

Chicken oh bless you. Real cabbage leaves?! Well, whatever works I suppose! The latching will get there, and if for whatever reason it doesn't, you know you've tried your absolute best! The video we watched at the antenatal class last week was quite insightful. It shown that it has to all happen very quickly. As in, baby finds it's way to boob, just as he/she is about to latch, move your boob forwards slightly and under, so your nipple is sort of facing up? It shown that the nipple goes quite far into the baby's mouth and has to be touching the roof of the mouth to be properly latched. Maybe try some maneuvering around and see if you can feel the nipple on the roof of the mouth a little further back? Also, the baby's mouth was covering all of the bottom half of the area surrounding the nipple (forget what that's called), and the bottom half of the mouth was even further down when sucking, almost going towards the underneath of the boob.
You probably know all of this anyway!

That sucks as a night TheBooMonster, your dh suggesting you go out so he can do housework is quite a nice gesture, although clearly didn't happen. When are you hoping to be induced?

7lb is soooo tiny to me RL20 Grin. It's not in the garage though it's on my drive and they don't have a courtesy car from Monday when it's booked in to give me. I said I was concerned about being 37weeks pregnant and having no car and his response was yes so would I be Shock

My mum drinks quite a bit Misty414 and that's my concern, to call her and her either not wake up or her drive the car over while really not able to drive.

Good luck with it all ChickenMe, sounds like you've got some good support though.

Probably up to 45 mins if it's in the wrong place smogsville!

Well my stepdad has offered his car, he's going to drop it round 9.30 tomorrow morning. Dh has got Monday morning off and to drive our car to the garage and I'll bring us both back in my stepdads car and he's also offered to drive dh over to get it when it's done do we're all sorted I think. He is retired so it's not disastrous for him but I'm not good at relying on people I like to be independent. Just hope now it's not too expensive and we can get it back in the 10days for a retest. Great idea by dh to get the car serviced and MOT'd in time for the baby arriving Angry

TheBooMonster · 18/03/2015 20:21

cinnamon oh, it was far more because he didn't want to go out and let me stay in bed than because he wanted to do housework! We've got the scan in the morning, I think they'll induce at the weekend if they're not happy with babies growth, otherwise I'm going to have to vent all of my concerns and crazy and hope they suggest that they arrange something pre 40 weeks, but I'm not hold my breath on either thing happening :/

Glad you managed to get a car sorted! Thank goodness your stepdad was so accommodating!

cinnamon it is awful when they don't latch, DD was early and teeny and really struggled with latching on, she'd happily drink from a bottle, and happily take from a syringe, but she never got the hand of latching on and quite frankly she inherited a lot of lazy from me, bottles are easier to drink from than boobs! hopefully the staff there are supportive and can get her latching properly before you both leave!

Sorry that last point was aimed at chicken Blush

Cinnamon that is a quality picture I hope you are going to frame it with pride Grin

I've just come home from aquanatal and baby is bouncing around on my bladder now it is very uncomfortable. The sessions started in January with 12 of us we are down to 3, 9 babies all been born early. what is wrong why don't the babies want to stay where it is nice and warm!?

cinnamongreyhound · 18/03/2015 20:54

Mine do wineandchoccy!!!!!

BrixtonBunny · 18/03/2015 21:16

Just popping in to say hello.

I'm bloody knackered - I have picked up a delightful virus from DP and have felt like death warmed up since Monday. Add to that packing up our entire flat (we move tomorrow morning) and endless admin / sorting / crap to sort out and I'm feeling totally drained. And then when we move in there's still so much to do to the house - cleaning and painting and fixing and general DIY. Feeling absolutely overwhelmed, and quite emotional about leaving our cool little flat and moving to this house full of stuff to fix in an area I hate. I know it's a good step in the long term but at the moment I just can't see past the mountain of stuff to sort out, when all I want to be doing is resting and nesting!

Sorry for the very self-indulgent post, I've been reading along, but haven't had the heart to post! Sorry for everyone else who is feeling knackered and sore and poorly.

37 weeks today. Just hope baby stays put a good couple of weeks longer!

TheBooMonster · 18/03/2015 21:22

The thread is getting full, so I've started a new one now in case I'm not about to start it in the morning, but we should probably fill this one before we move over :D

Sat around all day pending boiler repair only to be told that the fan broke, they will have to order a new one & get approval from landlord. No heating since Saturday in the house... While I am thankful the temps are closer to 10 than 0 it is still chilly, esp in ds' room... Bored of this now!
Sorry for the vent. I was hoping that playing the heavily pregnant card would get this sorted faster but no such luck!

I also have those cool pads in the freezer for achy boobs - they saved me with ds so they are at the ready for bump. I highly recommend getting some though I never actually tried the cabbage leaves!

Cinnamon that picture is a keeper!!!

smogsville · 18/03/2015 21:30

Underwood I feel furious for you! This is so bloody unacceptable you need to demand a pro rata partial rent rebate in recompense for no heating for x no of days and inconvenience of hanging around waiting for it to be fixed. How effin dare people be so shit Angry

I appear to be having a cross moment. Breathe...

Brixton of course you're allowed to moan. all the space in your new gaff will make it worthwhile in the end and I bet the area will improve on closer acquaintance. Can any friends of family pitch in with painting/ boxes/ general sorting?

cinnamongreyhound · 18/03/2015 21:33

Sending you FlowersCakeand Brew BrixtonBunny! It is all overwhelming by this point anyway with moving etc. Take care and leave some decorating and DIY until he baby has arrived, don't leave yourself knackered for labour, everything else will wait.

Will pop over and check in on new thread and see if everyone has jumped ship already Wink

Underwood2013 · 18/03/2015 21:40

I agree smogs... They gave us £60 to get a space heater for ds' room since they couldn't get anyone out before today. Rubbish.

BrixtonBunny · 18/03/2015 21:54

Thanks cinnamon and smogs. I'll definitely be enlisting help, I'm just going to have up learn to accept that I can't do it all myself at 37 weeks pregnant! Plus I'm sure once we're in it will feel much less daunting. I think I'm going to try and go to bed soon and then finish up in the morning (movers come at 9am and we need to dismantle the bed and dining table before they come Confused). Hopefully I (and all of you) will manage a bearable nights' sleep!

BrixtonBunny · 18/03/2015 21:55

*to learn

smogsville · 18/03/2015 22:11

Brixton just don't overdo it. I lifted and shunted some stuff a couple of weekends ago and got a bit of a scary hard bump. You shouldn't be handling half a bed frame/ dining room table at 37 wks. Ask the movers to help your OH with those bits while you pop to a cafe to buy them all coffee and croissants.

BrixtonBunny · 18/03/2015 22:18

That might not be a bad idea!!

FiRaffe · 18/03/2015 22:32

Bump had eased a bit, back to being normal firmness. I am getting wriggles in a different place from normal so guess they have moved, hopefully still head down!

Glad you sorted something cinnamon. Hopefully they will fix your car quickly!

It's easy to want to do everything Brixton but the ladies are right - you shouldn't push yourself.

Hope all have a good night's rest

daholster · 19/03/2015 01:14

Have read back - brixton you will I'm sure be happy when you are settled! I echo the others though, take it easy!

cinnamon glad car situation is sorted. Car stuff can be such a pain! Relying on other people is horrible.

Good luck tomorrow boo

chicken sounds fairly standard new baby issues, which feel totally the most difficult and worrisome things in the world and you are trying so hard - my dd struggled to latch too! It sounds like you are doing great, hope she is home soon.

Dd was given some montelukast tablets to try. Dunno whether to start on that path. Dd woke for PIL crying due to coughing at 11pm. Still coughing intermittently. I got home at 00.40. Last shift done... Just my written portfolio and review to do... Aiming to have finished it by Friday.

So, now I'm going to bed - probably to be woken soon by a frustrated sad coughing dd Sad I am so tired!!!

Night all

daholster · 19/03/2015 01:43

Now in bed super tired but feeling really stressed about coughing dd. Silly really. Nothing I can do about it... Hope I sleep soon and when I wake it's bright outside! crossing fingers but I might just wake with every cough... We will see, night night again!

PenguinPoser · 19/03/2015 02:41

Aw daholster I know you know what to look for in terms of your dd getting worse with her cough. Is she already on salbutamol steroids etc before starting the monteleukast? Hope she's ok.

Feeling for everyone who is sore achey and pregnant Flowers and those postnatally struggling too. Trying to feed and want to sleep Sad

Lauren82000 · 19/03/2015 07:06

There appears to be a cough going around DD has been coughing for a few days now. Annoys the crap out of me as she's been sneaking in our bed and coughing all over us while we sleep. Confused She always forgets to cover her mouth too. (When she's awake) I certainly don't want it and DH doesn't want it as he sort of has asthma. (Drs won't say he has it but have him inhalers anyway)

So another uncomfortable night for me. Between being pushed out of the bed by DD and my hips and back aching plus the turtle effect when changing sides I bet I look like death with huge shopping bags under my eyes.Sad Least DH brought me a cup of coffee this morning. Wink

FiRaffe · 19/03/2015 07:15

Morning all, sorry it seems you had rough nights with new babies and older daughters. Had a really rubbish night, not able to get comfy and struggling to breathe. Have to go in for our early start time as well as it's the brownie party tonight - Wish I could call in sick but better go in the shower instead.

Hope little ones are all doing better this morning and mums and mums-to-be are all feeling better too!

cinnamongreyhound · 19/03/2015 07:17

My friends dd gets croup regularly even at 6, think it's just a weakness from having bronchialitis several times as a baby and nights are always worse! Hope you managed some sleep daholster amd yay for no work!

Hope you don't get dd's cold Lauren82000!
