Welcome to the 13th April 2015 babies thread!

The stats thread is here and we have a handy spreadsheet here

If anyone wants to join the FB group who hasn’t already, PM me your email address and I’ll send you an invite!

We’re in the home stretch ladies, we've had the first baby, how many more threads can we manage before the last baby is here?

the fb group is "closed" - only members can see what we post. it makes it easier, I think.

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 10/03/2015 17:08

I stopped caring about the bush several years ago (old hippy!)
I can assure you all that no man has ever complained about it! (not that there have been many in a position to know, mind!)

I do get complaints about my legs being scratchy if I shave my legs, though. all 3 of my long-term partners (not simultaneous, consecutively!) moaned about it being too scratchy when it started to grow back.

RL20 · 10/03/2015 17:09

Penguin I think you message Boo with either your full name on Facebook, or the email address you use for Facebook.
I agree, I know my mum will want to post lots and lots of pictures of her first grandchild on Facebook, but I do want to mention to her, and most importantly my partners family most of which I don't even have on Facebook, that I don't want endless photos of my baby on there. If they want to post a picture I want them to run it by me first. Is that wrong of me? I would only want close friends and family that live far away or out of the country, to see the photos. But whatsapp is handy for that, and if I don't have their number stored in my phone to send them photos, then I suppose they weren't that important anyway??

daholster · 10/03/2015 17:10

Yummy jelly cake! Well that has no fibre surely?!!! Trouble is I'd need to find the energy to make it... But do have all the ingredients except the gelatine...

Stoma nurse (who isn't actually a stoma nurse but is covering) said (very kindly) "blah blah happens in all pregnancies at the end you can get diarrhoea or constipation like a blockage... blah blah pain from the round ligament is very common at the end of pregnancy and it will hurt when you stand up and feel you need to hold your bump... blah blah nothing I'm too worried about but you know your body so if anything changes ring... blah blah nothing we would do unless you got a complete blockage anyway... blah blah I'm not worried about the weight loss its only because you aren't eating as much blah blah..."

Well
a) I didn't expect her to do anything and she at least agreed with my dietary plan of fluids and no fibre so I guess I'm doing the right things
b) Its not round ligament pain that comes in nauseating waves over the top of and feels behind my bump (and she described the round ligament as a circle around the belly button!!! No?! That is not a round ligament. Well, maybe in shape but its not a round ligament!!!)
c) I do know my body and thats how I know its not normal and also I feel like crap
d) Of course the weight loss is because I am not eating as much. If this continues for the next 5 weeks, what then?! I wasn't suggesting I was losing weight for some other underlying reason... just that I was worried the situation meant I was losing weight!

Still, I've told them so I've done what I should have I suppose. If I start being sick I'll go to A&E. She did say if I felt worse she'd arrange for a surgeon to see me. Can't be CT scanned or anything to check for blockages anyway...

On the plus side, she did tell me that I should bleep them when I arrive on the labour ward so they can assess my stoma post birth and give me some new bags to try in case mine don't fit - tummy will deflate quickly and stoma may change shape a lot just after birth so its nice to know they will be on hand to help me out. And she said they have just got a lovely new very mouldable comfy bag from Coloplast (wonder who pays their wages?! I am such a cynic...) that is designed by Ted Baker of all people! So I will probably give that a go just to see (though I could do without the trials and tribulations of new bags and leaks etc when I have a newborn!). I didn't have the heart to tell her I've so far been allergic to the Coloplast adhesive and would probably end up ripping off their designer wear with extreme itching rage... Oh well...

RL20 · 10/03/2015 17:16

I remember reading a quote on Facebook once that said something like 'Women are posting so many photos of their kids on Facebook, I feel like I'm raising them too!'.
I might be on my own here but I thought it was quite true! There's girls on my Facebook that post endless photos of their babies/children of them doing the same thing, just perhaps wearing something different to the last picture, or in a different room of the house. And this is all day, every day. I haven't seen this particular girl since I worked with her around 4 years ago, but yet I know lots about her children! I don't want people to get that impression of me and think the odd photo is a lot more anticipated than 10 photos every day!

ChickenMe · 10/03/2015 17:36

I agree RL about FB. I'm quite boring on there and am a lurker. Re the group, it is closed so it's just a nice place to rant and read what people are up to. I think I shall put one picture of my baby up on FB but that's it. Undecided whether to but I might feel proud and want to show it off?
But yeah people i know, you can see what school their kids go to, when the child's bday is..not good.

TheBooMonster · 10/03/2015 18:10

For the fb group the email you use for fb is the easiest way to add you.. With your name I need a description of your pic because I'll need to add you as a friend first. I know a couple of people have sent me a pm, I will sort you ladies out once I'm back on the computer :)

I have a horrible horrible migraine, it's all in my sinuses and my jaw too, paracetamol hasn't touched it so I'm eying up the tramadol :/

I have given DD 8 dinner choices and she has turned them all down, she's out of luck though, there is no chocolate left, so, she's going to have to suck it up and have something resembling proper food!

Chicken I know that's what I thought! It obviously must be hard for people to try and not put lots of photos on FB but I will do my best! I might just take the pictures on my phone but get them printed off at ASDA or Boots and put them in an album! Wishful thinking Grin

Well, one of my friends from a few years ago (haven't spoken to her for a while, she's a bit introvert on FB too) has just announced she's had a baby girl! She hadn't even announced she was pregnant on FB and by the looks of it, didn't tell lots of people either. I think she did well! Although, I sent her a message of congratulations and told her I had 6 weeks left, and her reply was 'oooh 6 weeks, good luck ur guna need it!'. Great. Those kind of messages I could do without Hmm

Blimey ladies, lots of chat!

Hope the bargain hunters had success and the cakes look amazing!!!

Those on Facebook will have seen baby is small so rescan in 2 weeks, so we had cake on the way home but nowhere near as good as those look!

DH's family is from Poland on his Dad's side, but as yet the only thing we've had is sweets and beer. The sweets usually have nuts in too which I can't eat so have avoided any Polish foods so far!

Lauren82000 · 10/03/2015 19:29

Had a massive barny with DH about an hour ago. He was driving me mad. Doesn't take much to set me off in a grumpy rage yet he still has a go if I start getting grumpy like he forgets I'm pregnant and prone to mood swings.

Then I went off in a huff and sat in the back room and cried to myself until DD came and found me and wiped my tears away and gave me a hug. (Very sweet of her and I hate fighting in front of her but sometimes it just has to be done.)

If he thinks I'm apologising to him any time soon he has another thing coming. I was perfectly within my rights to shout and him saying you do my head in in don't want to look at you is like a red rag to a bull. Angry needless to say I was pretty petty and took the ipad and tv remote off him. He reclaimed the remote but seem as though I bought the ipad he has no rights to it.

RL20 · 10/03/2015 19:31

Firaffe sorry to hear baby is measuring small, is that by measurement or a scan? How far along are you now?

I've got my 34 week midwife appointment tomorrow. I'm always scared/nervous as well as excited.

Have you had your 34 week appointment yet Banana? (Wherever you are! I just know that you, me and another share the same due date).

Squatting yes my partner is a bit like that! I must only have around 100 friends on there. But that's how I like it, and every so often I have a 'Facebook friends clear-out' too!
He seems to have everyone from acquaintances he went to school with, to people he's worked with (and he's worked at lots of places!) to people he doesn't even know properly. But he's not one to post many photos at all anyway. And as my profile is all private, no one else other than my Facebook friends can see my photos etc.

RL20 · 10/03/2015 19:33

Cross post, sorry to hear that Lauren! Hope everything is resolved soon! As much as we hate our other halves blaming our hormones on things, it really is sometimes isn't it. Well, hormones escalate things anyway! It doesn't take much to set me off either BrewThanks

Annia I am impressed the baby kicked you in your knee?! how did that work exactly (I mean my bump is huge but still not near my knees...)

I'm not on FB sorry so please do share news and pics here too! especially anything big like you know, having a baby Smile

I saw a friend's 3 week old today. Very cute... actually got me a bit excited!

I try to keep a balance of keeping people I don't see much informed and not overloading Facebook with pictures that DD would look at in 10-20 years and hate to see there. I have to admit I'm a lot more lax recently than I'd normally be, and I need to get back on top of that! But I was also considering a bit of a picture and friend clear up before the baby comes anyway...

daholster and penguin I've sent you an invite, you might want to check your groups to see if it's come up if you don't get a notification, gimme a shout if it's not worked because it seems to be a bit hit and miss as to whether it works with email!

Well we've still not spoken yet, I've calmed down now and I'm not angry at him anymore just annoyed that he doesn't see my side of things. Angry

Ebwy I lolzed at the idea of three simultaneous LT partners all lodging the same complaint about leg hair!

No it's not wrong of you RL. I put the odd one of DD up but only when I think it will amuse my friends. So she has to have done something slightly remarkable to merit a posting.

Sorry that you're not feeling brilliant daholster and Boo.

Oh dear Lauren what was it about?

FiRaffe teacher told us that someone in my exercise class (am en route back on tube now) had her baby last week at 38wks, a little girl who weighed 5lbs 13 so not big at all but is absolutely fine apparently.

Squatting I haven't had nearly as many people trying to touch my bump this time. I think it's bc I must have a permanently furious expression on my face.

Right today I have tucked into a lot of chocolate. Colleague back from skiing hols in France with a big bag of Milka. Which didn't stop me eating another of my Lindt bars from my desk drawer. I wonder if I'll end up having more once I get home... Blush

ChickenMe · 10/03/2015 20:44

Lauren I've been ratty lately with OH and he's been pissed off with me. I've explained the hormone thing as in everything annoys me and I have a very short fuse but he feels I'm being nasty.
General people on my FB do not know I'm preg. I had to unfollow an over sharer who had named her baby, posted nursery designs all before the 12w scan and then had an elaborate "gender reveal" party..just did my head in. I like being secretive!!

smogsville · 10/03/2015 20:45

A gender reveal party. Now that's special.
