Welcome to the 13th April 2015 babies thread!

The stats thread is here and we have a handy spreadsheet here

If anyone wants to join the FB group who hasn’t already, PM me your email address and I’ll send you an invite!

We’re in the home stretch ladies, we've had the first baby, how many more threads can we manage before the last baby is here?

I know this is a baby thread and not a cooking thread but If anybody is doing batch cooking these spicy veg pastys are delicious, I just use whatever vegetables I have or on offer + a can of chickpeas.
The mixture freezes then you can defost, reheat and put into pastry.

SquattingGrin Giggling over your fanny comment lol

Recipe looks lovely Wine but my DH would complain about there not being any meat I would happily eat them!

skyra13 · 10/03/2015 09:04

Misty Managed to keep my self busy by making cupcakes :D Maybe I should start selling them lol I love baking hate cooking as DH is hard to please.

Recently I have given up trying to make him happy with dinner and he gets given what I can be bothered to cook!

Last 2 days at work!
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

(and 3 weeks to go)

kismac · 10/03/2015 09:27

Im needing to do my hand over notes today after my drama yesterday of getting signed off sick. I really must focus but feeling like a big wimp and wanting to cry.

Started batch cooking last week. We have spag bol in the freezer. Yay! But Im tempted to eat it now. Oops!

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 10/03/2015 09:27

congratulations, rusty!

smogsville · 10/03/2015 09:40

skyra - wow that's impressive! We've managed to eat down the freezer so now there is space for all the meals, I just have to make them. DD at nursery 9-3 on Thursday so I'm planning on cracking on then. My DH used to be more meat-centric but I have gradually worn him down. Not that I'm anti-meat by any means but I am basically turning into my mother and find that if I eat too much of it, my digestion doesn't respond well. Fine with fish oddly enough.

Wine, I can't see the recipes on the stupid app! Love the sound of veggie pasties. Pastry and anything makes me happy.

But Misty if you can bake you can defo cook. Baking much trickier. Go on, have a go at Wine's pasties.

Megalolz for Squatting's fanny comment and for kismac eating the batch meals before baby comes Blush

Kismac I also need to get on with handover notes. They're v boring aren't they.

PenguinPoser · 10/03/2015 09:44

Congratulations Rustyzilla on your lovely little boy! Grin

Morning all, I finally got to sleep about 4am I think Hmm never slept this badly in my life. At least I don't have to worry about work anymore. Today is potentially my last day of 'freedom'! Hospital appts start tomorrow for steroids etc. Need to pop up to mothercare to panic buy things I don't need return the too small pyjamas. Need to relax and try and catch up on sleep and get rid of this blasted cold!

I have done some batch cooking - pasta sauce, chilli, 2 batches of flapjack. And getting some pies and beef stew from my mum and gran Smile.

Hugs kismac get the handover notes done and get away from work!

RL agree with daholster about your palpitations, reassuring that they have been investigated and ectopic beats are quite common but can be anxiety provoking - so it's about being able to manage that if it does happen in labour.

Don't know whether to watch OBEM tonight ShockConfused

skyra13 · 10/03/2015 10:00

At home I grew up on not much meat as my parents could not afford it.

DH on the other hand is from a well of background so is used to having meat with every meal!

My parents used to make a big cheese and potato pie with mushrooms onions and bacon chesses and potatoes and I love it I have now had to add chicken to keep DH happy with his meat craving!!

I felt like I won a small battle last night had 2 bits of bacon and 4 sausages in the fridge last night that needed eating so I did jacket potatoes with beans the sausages lettuce cheese and cut the bacon up to make lardons to sprinkle on top!!
DH did comment on only having 2 sausages Envy But he said he really enjoyed it so I feel it was a small success he does not need 4 bloody sausages, steak or chicken every bloody meal.

I have managed to get him to eat fish pies or fish in sauce he never used to eat fish part from tuna so I am working on him slowly Grin

Penguin We are secretly hoping our mum will pop over and cook us dinner or make us some meal lol

Congrats Tiny Nearly time to do nothing and relax before the big arrival!

I am currently moving out bedroom round to make room for the babies crib next to my side of bed had to have a brake I feel pooped!!

dancestomyowntune · 10/03/2015 10:01

Just marking place. Can't believe how chatty this group is! Wow... 13 threads already!

Siarie · 10/03/2015 10:21

sigh Reading about the palpitations is slightly worrying. I don't know how much I've mentioned them here (mostly on FB) but I'm still getting them.

I've been monitoring my heart rate rested and it usually sits at about 80bpm but during the episodes it shoots up anywhere from 100 - 140bpm being the highest I've seen so far. During that time I'm doing nothing just sitting watching TV, not even exciting tv just boring day time TV.

I'm waiting for an appointment to see a consultant but haven't had a letter yet. Appointments here seem to take ages with the hospital so can't imagine it will happen by the time I give birth.

My midwife wanted me to see someone to check as I have fainting episodes with low blood pressure. I've never been able to check my heart rate during these times as naturally I can't but they wanted to make sure Its not a heart problem.

If I can't see a consultant in time are they going to let me stay low risk that's what I want to know. As I want to give birth in my local birth centre. Going have to query it on Monday at my 34 week appointment.

Congratulations rusty, third baby born now? Is that right?

I think we are going to just have the car re valued as I can't drive it right now (too clumsy) and the new car should be coming really soon now. We don't have a weekend free to sort it out as we are booked in to view houses this weekend again.

FiRaffe · 10/03/2015 10:30

All your batch cooking sounds fab. We need to have a jam cooking session to clear all the frozen fruit and then defrost the freezer..... We are pretty good at eating up the stuff we freeze, suppose we'd better start stock piling soon. Only 3 weeks and 3 days left at work...hurry up Easter!

smogsville · 10/03/2015 10:34

Siarie I know I'm the thread agitator but I would be making a fuss if I were you about that consultant appt. if your mw said she wanted you seen you should be seen.

Then again I know you're keen on the birth centre rather than a labour ward so can understand that you'd rather stay low risk.

Nunkie · 10/03/2015 10:36

Whoa, new thread already?
(smogs, I did answer your question re foodie weekend but it's on the end of the old thread, because I'm way behind the times! :0D)

Congratulations Rusty!! Grin

Just been to MV - heartbeat all good, Peanut still head down but not engaged yet. Platelet count still dropping tho :0( (trying to do some crap maths and see if I think it'll be above 80 if Peanut pops out on time. Guess I might have to see a consultant).

Aw well - it's a relatively small worry compared to the many other things that could go awry an it's not like I can do owt about it so ... [shrugs].

Hope everyone is enjoying this lovely sunny day (I am - just from indoors behind a computer terminal :0/ )

Recipe looks good Wine. DP did a mega-batch of his awesome veggie chilli then another of his tomato sauce at the weekend. The freezer is bursting. Bring on the tacos/ spagehetti!!

daholster · 10/03/2015 10:37

Hi dances Smile

Back from dropping off dd at nursery, went to shop to buy ginger biscuits and drinks and dropped into the Dr to try for an appointment (far too late which I knew, slept through 8am ringing time thanks to dd's night time antics and a brilliant dad who got her up and fed her when I didn't even hear her get up again! Good old grandpa Smile

Dr will ring me back since no appointments. Think I am going to have to ask for 2 short days in work to do my paperwork at the end of the week but altered duties so I'm seeing no clients... Can stop and rest/feel sick etc at my own pace then! So will ask Dr for altered duties note til Friday.

Got home and just sat in the car puffing!!! Heart rate was going like the clappers!!! Now I'm lying on the settee its still going at 112. Hm.

Really don't fancy a ginger biscuit. Will wait til I am hungry and try. So glad grandpa (currently at work) will be here until tomorrow afternoon!!!

Still, keep reminding myself, 35 weeks...

mswibble · 10/03/2015 10:40

Ooh congratulations Rusty! Another baby, how lovely! Flowers
Fingers and toes crossed that you get to bring Tiger home soon babiecakes
Is it ebwy having the scan today? Hope everything is hunky dory and bab is just a tad petite!

Hmm, I havent even attempted perinneal massage. Eek, am I really going to regret that? I cant even attempt a tidy up of the garden never mind anything more intimate.

Hmmph, well I had a shitter of a night. Turns out OH didn't listen to a word I said when we last discussed his MIL coming to stay for a week after me having the baby. Cue an almighty row last night which ended in me sleeping on the couch (not comfortable I can tell you) and I'm furious about the whole thing. It may be hormones but to be honest I feel like he's completely ruined everything now, he hasn't got a bleeding clue about what its going to be like. I was so excited about the ante natal classes this weekend but now I feel like fucking going by myself. I really want to scream into a pillow right now. I felt ridiculously guilty this morning too, all that shouting, crying (oh and being unable to breathe, I had to dig out my asthma inhaler which I havent used in over 5 years, think it was out of date actually) - what on earth must bambino have made of that? Sad.

One happy thing about today - One Born Every Minute starts again tonight :)

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 10/03/2015 10:42

note - don't drink two full glasses of squash (so around a pint in total) without going to the loo in between. If you are as daft as I am, hope that when you stand up, someone has left a potty near by because the bathroom is TOO FAR!

(thank you, eldest, for bringing your potty downstairs this morning, I'd never have made it upstairs!)

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 10/03/2015 10:43

no not me, Mel o'drama is having her scan today.

I'm next week.

mrswibble I hope your OH pulls his head out of his bum soon and realises you aren't just saying these things, that you REALLY don't want her there.

daholster · 10/03/2015 10:43

Lol just read back, everyone is worried about their heart! When I get up and about its hitting about 140 too but I think its cos I'm not well, it often kicks off if I'm exhausted. Last pregnancy it was put down to the steroids I was on. Not this time!!!

siarie definitely push to be seen if you are worried. Lol smogs - thread agitator!!!

ChickenMe · 10/03/2015 10:48

Catching up.
When you said "garden" I thought oh how nice, some fellow gardeners, I must get some bedding plants as I've spent the w/e clearing out all the dead stuff. It is starting to look like spring - yay spring babies!!
Then I realised you meant that garden which I am so over. As long as its clean the midwives will have to shut their eyes if they don't like it!
I had palpitations back in the day-it was anaemia.
Arent the baby clothes in Boots love as well? They have a fair bit of neutral stuff.
We're too paranoid to DTD and if OH looks at my boobs I scowl. They are so itchy and sore!!
I am very curious about my post-baby body. I'm nearly 40 and this pregnancy is all stomach. I've declared I will be wearing bikini on hol in Sept and i don't care. I like a challenge..

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 10/03/2015 10:51

wooo chicken - I share your attitude (I am also 40..maybe it's linked! lol)

if my "garden" offends them, not my problem!
and as far as I'm concerned, people should wear what THEY want to and ignore anyone else's opinion, no matter what their size.

mswibble · 10/03/2015 10:51

Oh dear daholster, you're certainly going through it at the moment. Stay on that sofa, sounds like you definitely need to take it easy!
