Welcome to the 13th April 2015 babies thread!

The stats thread is here and we have a handy spreadsheet here

If anyone wants to join the FB group who hasn’t already, PM me your email address and I’ll send you an invite!

We’re in the home stretch ladies, we've had the first baby, how many more threads can we manage before the last baby is here?

Think dh would be v annoyed if he saw I had posted that on the internet!!! Shock

But I am not sure how to help and I want to fix it Sad

smogsville · 14/03/2015 07:36

daholster your DD is so cute with her 'help help!'. Ours has got a filthy cold - when she sneezes you have to be ready with a tissue if you get my drift. Probably explains why she woke up at 11 inconsolable and took over half an hour of full on crying to go back to sleep. Me and DH had just drifted off so it felt like 3am when she woke us up Shock

Re your DH's work. I know it's not the same as an actual husband in terms of leaning, but if he were to accept Copenhagen - and as you say, if Edinburgh the alternative, the flight time isn't that different - is there any money you could allocate to lightening your load domestically? If you have a cleaner, upping the hours to help with laundry/ bed changes/ coming twice a week for example? Or a maternity nurse for a few weeks after baby arrives? One other thing to consider with Copenhagen is cost of living which is mental (cost of a normal sarnie/ a beer/ pizza supper etc) - does he get a per diem allowance that adequately covers it? Also flights - where do flights in and out of CP/ Ed come into? For us it would make a big difference if they were Heathrow and stansted as we're north London for example. Gatwick would be a shocker, city workable. Details, but they all add up to maybe making the experience more bearable on a week by week basis.

Weight - it's a nightmare isn't it. You don't want them to feel got at. I put my DH on the 5:2 and it works well for him but I appreciate that it doesn't work for everyone and might be tricky with you stoma. Mine still needs some regular exercise in any case he could still do with losing a stone Confused

Penguin - with these bran flakes they are spoiling you! Hope your DH is there soon if not already and has brought OJ, croissants etc. I'm going to give mine a list of preferred local suppliers and particular items dep on what time he's coming in. Sounds like the mws are looking after you which is the main thing obviously. Hope you're not too uncomfortable with the contractions and that today's the day.

ChickenMe · 14/03/2015 07:46

Good luck Penguin. Sounds like it's going smoothly.
I got the shock of my life yesterday morning when my waters broke!!! At 36+6. I'm currently in antenatal - the plan was to induce but I have had a lot of pains which the MW says is "excellent" Hmm as in I may go naturally which I would prefer. I haven't slept either as I can't get comfy Sad
A huge shock but baby is a good size and I have my ABs so it seems ok; fingers xd for all!

smogsville · 14/03/2015 08:07

Good luck Chicken! This thread has got a mind of its own!

Chococroc · 14/03/2015 08:17

Been a while since I've posted so figured time for an update!

Wow, so many babies arriving/ on their way, all getting very real now!

I now have a date booked in for my induction (type 1 diabetes so only going to 38 weeks) and like you cinnamon I'm booked in for the 7th April. Had a great meeting with the specialist midwife to go through the process, but a shame to realise just how long the process is likely to take to get anything going, I kind of knew already but the reality is now hitting. I'll be induced in delivery rather than on a ward due to the medical issues.

On the D front though all is looking good, day to day levels are where they should be and my long term reading is at 'non diabetic' levels. Baby is a little on the big side, but still within normal so everyone's happy!

Congrats to all whose babies are already here, and good luck to the increasing number who seem to be on their way!

BrixtonBunny · 14/03/2015 08:17

Chicken Shock another one! My goodness, how exciting! Keep us posted and good luck, really hope it all continues to go smoothly.

Penguin good luck to you too - as smogs said, hope your DP is bringing you some decent snacks and is keeping you company now.

Hoping these early babies don't give bump any ideas, this baby needs to stay put at least until next Sunday when the midwife is doing my home birth home visit (and the small matter of having moved house of course).

Today involves packing and maybe another trip to ikea if I can convince DP it's a good idea. Though ikea on a Saturday might be a terrible idea actually...

This evening having supper out with three of my very best lady friends, one of whom lives in Edinburgh and the other lives in Berlin (and the other in North London so that doesn't count), they've come to London for my baby shower tomorrow. So exited to see them, we haven't all been in the same country since university!

36+3

FiRaffe · 14/03/2015 08:19

Blimey, it's not safe to sleep round here! All these babies want to make an appearance.

Good luck Penguin - hope all goes as planned.

And good luck Chicken - must be a shock to the system but at least you'll get to meet you little one soon!

daholster · 14/03/2015 08:20

Thanks smogs that is really helpful. He has dieted well in the past but he seems to have struggled with motivation this time to get stuck in. We live closest to Heathrow so hopefully flights should be available from there.

Must get up and be useful!

Siarie · 14/03/2015 08:50

Blimey! Good luck chicken and hope you are getting on ok this morning penguin.

I had the worst back pain randomly last night. Disappeared this morning though. Threw up dinner last night too and felt funny all day yesterday.

The joys of pregnancy

Lauren82000 · 14/03/2015 08:59

Wow I can't believe how many babies are on the way or arrived. I need this one to stay put till I'm at least 36w. (I have visions of struggling with bf if they are too early)

Although I'm not entirely convinced this one hasn't unengaged itself. Feeling a bit high again but I haven't got up yet to see how things are settling. On the other hand has it slipped down even further as I needed a wee 4 times last night instead of the usual 1. Yes I'm basically stressing for stressings sake. I'm sure everything is fine as I had hiccups in my bum last night again. So unless it's gone for a wander overnight probably still in the same place.Confused

brummagem · 14/03/2015 09:35

Daholster Flowers it sounds a really stressful situation. How long are the jobs for? (Preganacy brain limited to 0.5 second memory atm) My dad worked away loads and my friend's husband was posted in Iraq with the army when she had her 1st. Do you have friends/family locally you can lean on? I understand completely the need to want him close by but I also see the hunter/gatherer provide for the family side too.

Regarding weight and partners mine ia overweight and snores too but I take the view that he's a big boy and knows what he should/shouldn't do. As before the rather large bump I'm now sporting I didn't have a perfectly honed toned and sculpted body it would be rather hypocritical to suggest he do something about his and I'd never ever dream of putting him on a diet that's a bit rude! I'd not appreciate it if he started pointing out my weight after all, baby or no baby! Plus he does all the cooking so it would be pointless Grin

I can't believe how many babies are appearing now! Some are only 2 weeks away from where I am now! Mild panic is now mass hysteria so I really need to get our current abode baby ready just in case! Everything is piled in the cot in the middle of the dining room at the moment! Really need to sort the furniture in the bedroom to make space for it! Eek!

Cake for everyone! Hope you're all feeling as well as can be with large bumps, aches, pains, a bladder that seems to be the size of a pea, constipation, acid and heartburn!

RL20 · 14/03/2015 09:40

Wow chicken, another one! Hope all goes ok! Grin And good luck Penguin hope everything is going to plan!

Feeling sicky this morning with no energy Sad
Have got my partners daughter all day as he's gone to work. Don't get me wrong, she can be as good as gold and has been helping me with her bedroom again this morning, and is currently watching telly. But she wants to go into town to spend her money that her dad's given her.

Felt like I had no sleep last night and was getting really irritated with myself not being able to get comfortable so in the end I had to get up just to walk to the kitchen. I felt like I was awake every 10 minutes, and then my other half had a coughing fit for about 15 mins (felt more like an hour) which even woke the baby up as he started kicking around! Surprisingly didn't wake his daughter up though.
Then at around 3am my stomach started rumbling as if I hadn't eaten for days! It keeps happening and I'm running out of ideas of what to eat in the middle of the night! So a mini snack pack of Oreos had to do Blush

Hope everyone has a nice day whatever you do!

34+5

Lauren82000 · 14/03/2015 10:08

Daholster have you thought about suggesting you both try a bit of healthy eating after the baby is born? That way you can support each other.

skyra13 · 14/03/2015 11:17

So many little ones popping out Good luck to you Chicken These babies do not want to stay in till April!!!

Been preparing for Mexican night tonight!! So taco mince and Chicken are marinating!! :)

Thought I would drop off a pic of my Jelly cake that was finished this morning Grin

Have a good day ladies, got a nearly new sale round the corner from me today so will see if I can find any bargains!

April 2015 Thread 13: The babies are creeping in one by one and the gardens really need seeing to!
FiRaffe · 14/03/2015 11:21

That's a good idea Lauren or maybe after the baby too to 'help you lose baby weight'...may help anyway!

Hope the job gets sorted as well daholster.

Mum and DH are filling ready for glossing at the moment but I can't get down on the floor to help so i've been relegated to coffee duty! There are worse jobs!!!!

Wineandchoccy · 14/03/2015 12:10

Yum Skyra what time do you want me tonight! Grin

Good luck penguin and Chicken

I've just put the batteries in Ewan the dream sheep so I am led on the sofa with it balanced on my bump and baby is kicking away. I don't know about sending the baby to sleep it is making me feel sleepy.

cinnamongreyhound · 14/03/2015 12:15

I haven't taken long with my previous inductions chocoroc so it doesn't have to be a long process. Hoping that as I responded well with my other two that I will this time, although earlier inductions tend to take a bit longer.

Wow, another early bird ChickenMe, hope that you manage to get going on your own!

Obviously to late to read your post and comment daholster but hope you get it sorted.

I hope all of those that need to get things done before their babies arrive have lazy babies!

ChickenMe · 14/03/2015 12:44

Thanks. I was so shocked I was shaking like a leaf. No warning, just woke up leaking! Then period pains, back pains and bum pains.

IvegotaCaveTroll · 14/03/2015 13:46

Wow chicken that's great.
Iv had fairly bad bump and lower back pains today but hopefully just growing baby as I'm only 34+2!

Hope everyone has a good day xx

Faithope · 14/03/2015 14:54

I can't keep up lol

I do read but the pages go by so fast and with my baby brain, there's no hope!

FiRaffe · 14/03/2015 14:59

Don't worry Faith, it's almost impossible to keep up! At least people will do their best to help etc if you have any questions etc.

Hope those in labour are all okay!

skyra13 · 14/03/2015 15:08

Been to nearly new sale again today brought cloths 3 to 6 months this time hoping they tide us over untill sep an can get bump more cloths once she is older!!! Grin

smogsville · 14/03/2015 15:26

Brixton did you really go to Ikea? Together? On a Saturday? Your marriage must be solid as a rock! We ordered the new wardrobe from there this morning online, Christ only knows what will turn up as you have to order all the individual pieces yourself, divorce surely on the cards when a series of disparate multicoloured objects arrives next weekend. Will probably send DH early next Sat in car by himself to pick up a couple of things that aren't available for home delivery but as we're always up at 7 or before with DD (the joys!) it should be q easy for him to get in and out before the crowds.

Your ladies' soirée tonight sounds lovely. And you're guaranteed no hangover tomorrow, marvellous.

Good on you daholster. If it were my DH I'd be encouraging him too, you can't ignore the promotion prospects after all. Got to just look hard at the options and find the least worst solution. As regards weight it's just a case of grabbing the sodding bull by the horns somehow isn't it. Never easy but has to be done!

Siarie sorry you're feeling rough.

Wine LOLZ for the image of you lying there with Ewan the sheep on your tummy!

Right about to go into 34 wk appt now. Hoping for a v boring, routine time of it and that they have got the sodding whooping cough vaccine in stock this time Angry

smogsville · 14/03/2015 16:01

Quick update from 34 wk appt. measuring 32 which mw said was fine, had whooping cough vaccine, wee sample fine, bloods taken for iron level checking, basically everything normal. Off to the tail end of the kids party now I hope there's some good cake left!

BrixtonBunny · 14/03/2015 16:23

Smogs we didn't go in the end as DP has a stinking cold and has spent the day in bed, but we're going to go on Monday morning very early as he's working from home. I think
You sound like an absolute hero building an ikea wardrobe - I did that once many moons ago and vowed never again. Though I did recently manage to build a changing table / chest of drawers combination from there (with much swearing and fury) and it seems to still be in one piece.

Glad all was well and boring at your appointment.

I have not even achieved a fraction if what I was hoping to do today! Feel so lazy. Went to the kitchen to try and start on packing and ended up eating ice cream in my pants and then going back to bed... Hmm
