Welcome to the 13th April 2015 babies thread!

The stats thread is here and we have a handy spreadsheet here

If anyone wants to join the FB group who hasn’t already, PM me your email address and I’ll send you an invite!

We’re in the home stretch ladies, we've had the first baby, how many more threads can we manage before the last baby is here?

My bag is a large men's hold-all. For feng shui reasons I wish it was more feminine.

daholster · 11/03/2015 12:42

Feeling rely pissed off. Just got a text from the managers at work which said they think its "better for me not to be here over the next few days". Wtf?! And she will ring tomorrow and find out what I want to hand over and "take it from there". Erm no, my mind wants to be done with work, not having stuff hanging over me. Don't they want the clients to see me? Its probably v busy and maybe they think I will distract the efficient running of the place. Well whatever, I'm pissed off, I feel like I've been shunned and they are annoyed with me or something! The wording doesn't help.

I have replied saying that I will email a hand over tomorrow and come after hours tomorrow to enter the last piece of documentation I needed to on the system which will only take 5 mins then I am sodding off and leaving them to it. I can still work on my training portfolio at home til the end of Friday in time for my review which is during my annual leave next week or the week after.

I know IABU but I am really annoyed!!! And a bit sad. Will have to go in and do my goodbyes separately.

mswibble · 11/03/2015 12:44

Another vote for the H&M leggings, they're so comfy, but alas they are little see through but for £7.99 I won't grumble.

Thank you for all your comments regarding our big row. Its all sorted now and we both see where the other is coming from. He's under considerable stress, and I think we both just saw red and lost all reason. We need to remember that its us vs everyone else, never me vs him! Feeling very secure and loved, looking forward to lots of hugs tonight. We've had two rows during this pregnancy and both have been whoppers so they have both really affected me, so relieved when its all worked out.

Sorry to hear you're worrying about your measurement RL, I'm sure it will be fine. From what I have read the tape measure is a guesstimate at best and women who have been told they were having a whopper ended up with a 'normal' sized baby. I'm the opposite, I'm measuring 34cm at 33+6 which puts bambino in the high 90s centile point on the growth chart! Eek! Though I'm 5'7 and OH is 6'2 so neither of us are on the petite side. Sugar in my urine again but as my bloods are always perfect they're not worried, its typical in pregnancy apparently, something to do with your kidneys not working as well as they would usually. I'm also being referred for physio for the SPD which I'm glad about. Even if I just end up with a belt I imagine it will help somewhat as it really is bloody painful to walk.

Need to work backwards now and catch up on all the chatter!

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 11/03/2015 13:00

my bag is my suitcase, as I'm not prepared to buy a new bag for it. Plus, it's lockable which is always an advantage when you're taking phone, tablet etc in!
I'll fit everything I can possibly need for both of us for 5 days in there!

MoominMama22 · 11/03/2015 13:05

About Facebook- has anyone else had to have the "don't share too much" Convo with people? misty has your mum said anything yet,do you know how it went? I think Mil and SiL may put a lot of pics on , DH thinks this is fine, I don't but my compromise is that at least not before we do, I think that's fair enough and should be easy enough to ask?
I post no pics of my nieces and nephs on FB and neither do any of the fam. We share pics constantly, completely privately over FlickR, which I might suggest PiLs get.

Chicken that oversharer! Nursery designs before 12 weeks ? gawwwwd!
I have a friend on Facebook who posts stories,"diary entries" and pics of her children DAILY. "Baking with son! At the park with daughter! Bath time with the kids!" I feel like saying- How did you actually manage to enjoy the moment with them, lick the spoon , push the swing? When you must have been more worried about your camera angle , soft focus and depth of field? Needless to say she is hidden from my news feed

Lauren why does that not surprise me that he shouted down to you to "fix it", I can imagine my Dad or my DH doing the exact same thing. Manchild!

wibble so sorry you've been having a rough time of it. I can only hope it all comes good in the end and common sense prevails !!

daholster yeah I joined the FB group and almost just left again- felt naked! But it is closed so at least nobody from your real life can search and possibly stumble across you... Which I worry might happen on here?

Sorry I've not caught up with everyone, I think I'm still a few pages back ...

Aw I've had my mum up to stay for a few days and we left on bad terms because she was picking a fight and I took the bait but now feel awful. She is pure poison at times but I have to realise we are similar and I should rise above it and not be cruel back :( :(

Peanut butter and nutella on toast and a wee cry and then a wee nap should sort me out.

cinnamongreyhound · 11/03/2015 13:18

You will do whatever you feel you need to in labour PenguinPoser! I had g&a, pethedine and an epidural with ds1, and was lucky enough to not need intervention but had a much better experience with ds2 with g&a only. Hope your injection goes well, never has steroid injections is it your arm?

A phone call won't bother anyone FiRaffe, better safe than sorry!

Hope it goes well Misty414 and you have a kinder Dr! No one can force and ecv on you its your body and your baby.

I'm the opposite daholster, I have a pair of under the bump ones that I love and my over the bump ones are never over my bump, usually half way down and give me a saggy bum!!

I don't know about waiting ChickenMe, had to wait for a Dr before I had mine but I was also waiting for syntocinon drip which was probably what I was waiting for more.

Good news on position Sairie, it's probably just head starting to push down minipie. Mine seems to have been head down since my run Monday evening but sometimes I have a bum on the right and sometimes it's on the left. At my last scan he was apparently facing my spine so presumably but was in te Middle and feet at the back.

Was it a different midwife RL20? I was measured 33 at my 29wk apt and dead on 34 at 34wks apt so that shows not a lot of growth whereas my scans show growth along the same curve so yes I think it is down to measurements and possibly baby position. Try not to worry though I know it's impossible!

THere's a blood vessel on that side smogsville but not sure if it's supposed to affect blood flow to you or the baby. I don't think its a huge deal, although we were taught to put pregnant women in recovery position on their left if at all possible at first aid class.

Midwife in an hour (with 3 under 4's) and shopping still to put away so need to get on. One sleeping and two watching tv after a busy morning at preschool, Wednesday's are my busiest day and typical it's midwife clinic day!

36+2

cinnamongreyhound · 11/03/2015 13:22

Many x posts!! daholster may be better to ring as texts often can be misunderstood. Sorry you're feeling pushed out though.

Sorry to hear about your row wih your mum Mooninmama22!

smogsville · 11/03/2015 13:45

daholster that's rubbish of them, what is it supposed to mean? When do you officially finish? Are they trying to put you on mat leave early or something? Do remember though things can often be poorly communicated in texts.

good news mswibble. Glad to hear things are back on an even keel.

Moomin sorry you've had cross words with your mum. Nothing worse really is there. Hope you get it resolved.

Thanks cinnamon. Maybe I'll have a go on my left. Although I'll need to make DH switch too as otherwise we'll be breathing on each other, gross. Good luck at the mw with all the kids, hope they behave nicely for you!

Am absolutely zonked today. DD is watching Ben and holly on iPad and probably will be for quite a while.

FiRaffe · 11/03/2015 14:17

Good luck cinnamon - I don't envy you!

I phoned earlier and spoke to a midwife. She checked the test results from my doc and all was clear and to just monitor and if it got any worse then to pop in. She said that if all was on yesterday then it should be okay, but then they didn't really do the same checks as a midwife... ah well!

Cinnamon there always seems to be two midwives, one I think is training (had about 3 different trainees).
I had the main one last time but it was the first time then that I'd had her. I haven't really warmed to her at all. My experiences at hospital have always been with nice midwives so I'm hoping for the same again on Tuesday.

In a really irritable mood today. Don't know if it's because I woke up early and didn't bother going back to sleep, or because of the midwives, or just general hormones. Just want to be moody and sit on my own but really need to get stuff done. I feel selfish but I'm not looking forward to this weekend really. We have my partners daughter for the weekend and there's been lots of bad vibes and arguments going off between him and his ex (wrote about this last week) and she's been claiming that the daughter hasn't been wanting to come and stay over etc. (she's 6). And knowing I've got to wait until Tuesday for my appointment, I just want the weekend to hurry up and be over with! Arghhh.

Moomin RE Facebook, I brought this subject up yesterday as it's one of my 'pet peeves'! The over-sharers. The girl I mentioned yesterday posted a photo last night of her and her partner in bed with their 2 children inbetween them, whilst he was reading them a bedtime story. WTF?! She was looking up to the camera and smiling in a pose. Her eldest is around 3 and her youngest is around 1. I don't remember my mum taking bedtime story selfies! Confused

PenguinPoser · 11/03/2015 15:01

Steroid injection - ouch!!!!! In top of bum Shock looked too much for an arm cinnamon
Will read back when I get home!

Nunkie · 11/03/2015 15:05

Afternoon All

Just popped head in to thank Skyra for the jellycake recipe - nom!
(And I’ll have a nice warm cup of weed with that please - heheh!)

Sorry FiRaffe and RL that you have growth worries. If it helps, I was a puny 4lbs something when I popped out.. that was back in 1976, and I turned out okay (errr, or at least i like to think so ;0).

Have a friend, too, that has also had the same worries, seen the consultant etc, and, after some to-ing and fro-ing it all looks fine. She is a wee lass, too, so it doesn't seem at all odd to me she should have small baby.

I think they just like to be extra-vigilant, don’t they, since they have the technology to do so..?

Glad you’ve resolved your argument with the other half, mswibble.

Very nearly caved on the jogging this morning, Cinnamon, because for the first couple minutes, my bladder was just screaming STOP!! I AM GOING TO PEE RIGHT NOW!
But i walked a bit then started up again, then it wasn’t so bad. Hopefully the pelvic floors are helping a bit (tho violent sneezes and coughs aren’t quite such a success story :0)
Wonder if i’ll make it to the full 9 months still jogging? (and un-urinated!)
36 weeks and counting…

PS: Anyone seen this thread on the ’15 years’ of Mumsnet page? ‘WTF? Your Minge!’ Hahahaha!

Nunkie · 11/03/2015 15:07

(Oh,and penguin hope the sinuses ease up soon.
I think just a steam with with hot water, even with nothing in it, can sometimes help)

Lauren82000 · 11/03/2015 15:11

Back from the mw, it was a different mw from my usual and she had a student withe her. My wee was clear this time, so I guess it makes a difference if it gets tested in the morning or afternoon.

My bp was low (90/56) but they weren't bothered by it and I'm measuring 35cm so I'm above the 90th line too. (Can't remember who else was measuring above the line) I'm only 5'3 and DH is 5'5 so we aren't that big. I'm hoping most of it is fluid and placenta Wink

Baby is definitely head down and 3/5's engaged in LOA position so no wonder I'm feeling heavy and quite a bit of pressure down there. I mentioned I thought I'd go earlier than due date with all the BH and period pains I've been having and she just smiled and said if you think you will then you might, have you packed your hospital bag?

I moaned about feeling knackered still despite the iron tablets so they took blood just to check instead of doing them at 36w.

Overall a successful trip, wonder if I'll have the usual grumpy mw next time?

daholster · 11/03/2015 15:14

Yep appreciate all your suggestions that text is not the best way, I agree, odd way for them to communicate anyway, but hard to ring and actually get the person to speak to. But they started it!

I know IABU. I finish for annual leave then mat leave on Friday. That's why I want to feel like it's all finished come Friday and sorted, leaving it for a phone call tomorrow is frustrating.

I did get a text saying they didn't realise that I had work I need to do on the work system and that I could pop in whenever to do that so I will probably go in tomorrow and do it and slink away... No leaving lunch for me or anything eh?

I'll probably pop in next week to get my training folder signed off anyway (mentor is off this week) so if I'm in a better mood I'll suggest a goodbye coffee then or take cake... Still feeling hrrumph!!!

Waiting for the midwife... My appointment was 3pm and the lady before me hasn't even gone in yet!!! Uh on think grandpa might be reluctantly swimming... Not sure what dd will make of that either, not sure grandpa knows when/how to dunk at the right time!!!

TheBooMonster · 11/03/2015 15:28

rl I'm trying to lay on my left, but I have limbs in my left for the most part, so I tend to end up on my right. I'm constantly measuring behind by fundal height, so I wouldn't worry about it, my scans have all been fine, I was seriously seriously behind by both fundal height and scan when they were worried about DD.

skyra I have three bags, the changing bag is bumps, the smaller suitcase if for labour,t he bigger case is for a post labour stay if we require one and is for both of us (once we've rescued a few things from both of the previous bags)

I am also a leggin convert, Sainsburys do two packs in either black or navy, and I've got about 4 pairs, they're normal leggings not maternity, so I went for a size 16-18 instead of my normal 12-14 and they're pretty much the only thing that fits now!

soooo tired today, back to feeling like there is a brick between my hips, we went to tumble tots this morning and got our photo proofs back, they're not as good as the last lot we had, but there is one quite nice photo that I might get a pack of prints for, the company that came in and did the photo's also do a bump to baby shoot and they do a newborn shoot so I might look into that.

Lauren is bloody brilliant, isn't it? Grin It's the husband's response that really makes it!
Boo that is so organised. I haven't even finished (or barely started) packing one bag yet. Better jump to it :0S

Ooo, finally bit the bullet and ordered one of these after reading up on it.

DP suggested i go for the 'flesh pink' so it looks less like 'a german dungeon porn' accessory! Grin )

BrixtonBunny · 11/03/2015 16:22

I just had my 36 week mw appointment - I've gone from measuring perfect for dates every single appointment to suddenly measuring 31 (so five behind) Shock

Not quite sure what's happened there! I suspect that baby is just in a funny position (or really low down in my pelvis as every time I walk I feel like I need a wee) but I've been referred for a growth scan tomorrow morning. Feeling quite zen about it actually - I'm not particularly worried, although if it is that baby is already very far into my pelvis it's slightly alarming as we need to move house in a week!

So RL you're not alone Thanks

Also had a chat with midwife about home birth, she's going to check if our new address is in their catchment area, otherwise I'll have to self-refer to a closer hospital. I really hope I will be in their catchment although I seriously doubt it! I should really book my birth pool soon come to think about it...

36 weeks today - and finishing work Friday. Can't wait (though so much still to do!)

FiRaffe · 11/03/2015 16:23

The verbaudet code I had was 4804 to be entered at checkout.

ChickenMe · 11/03/2015 16:33

Lmao at the minge on that thread! Pregnancy brain Confused. On a par with "he has eaten a fat ball" and the one where the DH had turned his nose up at dinner (trout) and the trout ended up in the bath.
I'm sure my OH thinks MN is full of women cooing over babies but a lot of it is hilarious.
Sorry to those who are measuring small; everything is a worry when it's your baby. Fingers xd it is just variable anatomies and awkward positioning of babies.

PenguinPoser · 11/03/2015 16:38

Catching up now as I'm recovering from my jab!

RL sorry to hear you were measuring small. Echoing what others have said it's very subjective depending on who does it and when so fingers crossed all is ok on your scan, Tuesday does currently seem a way off but it will be here before you know it. Firaffe I think I missed your scan results - hope you're ok too and glad you managed to speak to someone about the pain.
Brixton you too! Hope all is well with the scan tomorrow - at least you don't have long to wait.

Daholster I would be peed off at work too re your text message - I know where you're coming from about getting all the ends tied up yourself and making sure things are sorted. It could be that they think they are being helpful to you though. But careful incase they try and start your ML early!

Mswibble glad to hear things are sorted with your DH. And moomin hope things are ok with your mum.

Nunkie thanks for that link - LOL Grin hilarious!

Misty glad you had a better experience today and even though baby is still breech you don't have to go through the ECV stress. Sending baby spinning vibes!

Back home now. Bloods last week still stable for the cholestasis - still raised but not getting worse. CTG was fine baby nice and happy, going back for second steroid, scan and clinic tomorrow to confirm induction plans for the weekend Shock Confused Grin so excited and terrified!
