We’re in the home stretch ladies, we've had the first baby, how many more threads can we manage before the last baby is here?

Chicken the "he ate a fat ball" had me in stitches too. Must go and find the trout one to read!

TheBooMonster · 11/03/2015 16:40

Thank you FIRaffe!!

Who knows more about wedding etiquette than I do? I've only ever been to weddings where I'm a bridesmaid (or the bride) so I really don't know much about what's suitable to wear, I'm looking for something for the girls to wear, and I've found these dresses www.vertbaudet.co.uk/baby-girl-s-tulle-satin-special-occasion-dress-beige-medium-solid.htm?ProductId=702140129&FiltreCouleur=6329&CodBouw=313871062&t=2 they come in what I assume will be bumps size and DD's size, but I don't know if they're a bit too bridesmaid-y for general guests? I am not certain what the colour scheme for the wedding is, but I think it's cream and pink judging by the invites. The wedding is at a fancy old hall, so I'm assuming it's a dresses and suits affair, but again, the dress code is not on the invites... #stressed

This is the one Penguin. The post about the trout is on the last page. I occasionally re read the fat ball one and OH gets annoyed with me collapsing into giggles. He didn't find it funny probably because he thinks I'm planning to feed him a fat ball

ChickenMe · 11/03/2015 16:54

Boo ah I love beige nothing wrong with those dresses. Surely no one would be uncharitable enough to be offended by what a child was wearing?

Sorry it was painful PenguinPoser, how many do you need?

I never thought I'd still be running at all by 36 weeks Nunkie, just take each day as it comes! I needed a wee last night and tried to go in the forest but I just can't!!!! The need went away and I made it home without any problems.

Ha ha those who said good luck! Kids were good but my 38 wk apt is at 3.30 so I will have 7 kids with me. She said it would be a good idea to get someone to sit with them, obviously doesn't quite get the idea of how my job works and wouldn't it be a better idea for her to fit me in or do it a week later? Oh well, hopefully Dh can leave work early but really shouldn't leave the minded kids even with him :(. All was good bp and urine fine, measuring 35 and 36 weeks, she told me to look online for leaflets on vitK, cfm and injection to deliver placenta as the hospital in going to does all its info that way. Baby is head down with spine to my right and hb fine, didn't mention engagedness but guessing he's not at all!

Misty414 My friend didn't tell anyone her date for cs, she said it was weird choosing her child's dob but definitely wanted it to be a secret from everyone other than the person who was looking after her dd Grin

Glad you're relaxed about it BrixtonBunny! Could be baby is back to back which I think leads to smaller bump too.

BananaToast · 11/03/2015 17:05

RL and Brixton try not to worry too much about fundal height measurements - they seem to vary so much according to who takes them and baby's position. Hope your scans manage to reassure you. Oh and Brixton after being told baby's head isn't engaged I've been googling today about engagement and everything seems to say that engaging early doesn't necessarily mean you will go into labour any sooner than if baby engages later on, so hopefully it shouldn't affect your move!

Really struggling to concentrate at work this week. I am waiting for other people to do things on nearly everything I'm working on before I can make any real progress with them so haven't got enough to keep me busy. Plus baby is pushing his little foot out into the side of my bump which keeps me entertained - I push it in, he pushes it back out.

Siarie I think my little one is also in the LOA position - really want him to stay that way so will be getting down on my hands and knees for a bit each evening and doing lots of bouncing on my ball to try and help him engage in that position (not sure if this actually helps at all, but I feel like it will help him bounce into the pelvis and get stuck there...)

Glad to see people's hospital bags are on the big side. Mine is a large holdall for my stuff and changing bag for baby's bits - I was very proud that I managed to get 20 nappies, 3 full changes of clothes, muslins, etc. all in with the rest of the changing bits. Will stick some extra bits in the car for DH to bring up to the post-natal ward if needed, but not going to go overboard as we only live 10 mins from the hospital so he can pop home if I need anything over a more extended stay.

cinnamongreyhound · 11/03/2015 17:06

Lots of X posts again! No idea on dresses TheBooMonster I only have boys to worry about Wink

cinnamongreyhound · 11/03/2015 17:17

I do that too BananaToast! Lots of entertainment.

dancestomyowntune · 11/03/2015 17:22

Brixton I had a similar experience at my 36 week appointment with my dd2 (not this pregnancy, obv, as dd3 never got to 36 weeks in the womb). The midwife terrified me, sent me over for a scan and everything was fine. The hospital think it was because she was measuring me on our very squishy sofa and not a true reading. Having said that, all my babies were a little on the small side and dd2 (born at 37 weeks exactly after spontaneous rupture of membranes) weighed 5lb.

Lauren82000 · 11/03/2015 17:29

Hmm very uncomfortable this afternoon. Feels like the baby keeps pushing down and it's making me wince. Kind of like something downstairs is opening and closing a bit. Blush Can't wait to get home so I can lie down and take the pressure off my hips and pelvis. 34 weeks today, so far too early for anything to happen. Maybe next week or the week after will be better for an appearance.

Wonder if DH will make me egg chips and beans for tea. I really feel like it.

FiRaffe · 11/03/2015 17:39

Ooh cinnamon - 7 kids at the next appointment, the midwife really didn't get your job did she!

I'm home and can't believe how tired I am..... at least another 6 weeks to go if baby decides to come around it's due date, how on earth am I going to keep going. Much respect for those of you still running!

We're supposed to be having some kind of meatball concoction for tea, but I don't have the energy to actually make it... wonder if I can persuade DH that he wants pizza......hmm!

cinnamongreyhound · 11/03/2015 17:44

I don't think she likes children very much FiRaffe! Ds1 has asked for sausage omlette for tea, I'm getting less and less inclined to cook anything as the evening goes on! Have one child who should have gone home some time ago, Dh is going to be late and dogs still need to be walked!!

smogsville · 11/03/2015 17:53

Sending big needle sympathy Penguin.

If a mw measures me on Sat at my 34 wk appt and tells me baby is small I will say well quite frankly I couldn't manage anything bigger so sod off! Feeling really really tired today for first time and not bc of crap sleep or anything - just baby carrying.

Nunkie v impressed with your jogging with no escaped wees! I tried to run after DD earlier and had to abort immediately for fear of local flooding.

Lauren good news on your appt going well, sorry you're feeling uncomfortable. Hope you get your egg chips and beans. DH is out tonight so I'm having a whole packet of mushroom ravioli (with spinach for healthy points) which I'm going to absolutely douse in butter and Parmesan. Absurdly overexcited about it.

daholster bless your dad taking DD swimming! Don't think mine could cope with that. And DD would run rings around him anyway.

Banana I'm like you at work. Until a load of clients come back to me I can't move forward on stuff so will end up handing over crappy little jobs, oh well nothing to be done.

smogsville · 11/03/2015 17:53

My post has random lines in it. Not sure why.

MoominMama22 · 11/03/2015 18:00

Still don't think I'm caught up its a losing battle.

I have tears rolling down my face at that swimming thread nunkie. The folding them carefully onto the chair is the thing that gets me because I can picture myself doing that!!
chicken and peng just about to read the trout one, and the fat ball?is that something else?

Sorry to everyone having growth scares, I think follow brixton's example and try to be "zen" about it. Easier said than done.

boo the dresses are sweet, they are quite bridesmaidy, if it was me I might choose something similar but with a pattern to avoid that? Mind you my niece wore a floral party dress to a wedding and matched the wee flower girl her age, exactly same dress! Not the end of the world. I think the etiquette is they would much rather see people dressed up than not bothering, so don't worry, but don't wear white or cream if you aren't the bride that's my pet peeve.

Lauren sorry about the pain. Opening closing? That sounds weird! big fat yes to egg and chips!! Now I want :)

BrixtonBunny · 11/03/2015 18:12

I've been working from home today, as has DP, so he's shoved a shoulder of lamb in the oven to roast over some rosemary potatoes, which we'll have with broccoli and asparagus. Shame I dosed up on ice cream when I got back from midwife (pistachio magnum followed by a bit of salted caramel Haagen Daaz) and now I'm not really hungry. Hopefully I can work up an appetite in the next hour by doing nothing at all - that's how it works, right?

TheBooMonster · 11/03/2015 18:21

Thanks for the advice ladies, think I'll wait and get DH to find out what the colour scheme is, it isn't until the summer, so we've got a while, DD does have a pretty dress that she could wear that is defiantly not bridesmaidy, and bump may end up living in a sling for the day anyway as she'll not exactly be big enough to be on her feet...

lol, the very idea of the midwife trying to do your blood pressure and fundal height with 7 children in there is insane cinnamon my midwife struggles enough with DD trying to muscle in!! Especially when she gets out the measuring tape...

Fundal height measurements are a load of balls seemingly designed to scare the bajebus out of mums to be!

RL20 · 11/03/2015 18:40

Brixton sorry to hear you're in a similar position. Glad you're feeling ok about it though, I think I probably would too if I was having my scan tomorrow. I wonder if I can ring them myself and see if I can bring appointment forward? Hmm, I don't know whether to try calling them tomorrow or not now.
Hope all goes well, and like you say of you've been measuring fine up until now it's not like baby can shrink is it?! Blush
I'm impatient at the best of times. And having nothing planned for Monday doesn't help either, I'll be twiddling my thumbs all day waiting for Tuesday Confused

Boo I agree - they have scared a few of us on here haven't they! I would possibly be slightly more worried if they had said the measurement was 2 weeks behind, as that was when I last had a scan (for reduced movements) in which case I've not been seen since, but to put down on my notes 'seems not to have grown in the last 3 weeks' seems silly! In the last 3 weeks I had measurements and a scan at the hospital that shown baby was measuring normal.
Although I won't deny the fact that I am glad they refer you for a scan. I can't fault the NHS in that way!

On a slightly different note, if the scan shown that baby was slightly behind, what would happen? Would they rescan again the following week? Or this far along (will be 35 weeks next week when I go for the scan) would they set about getting a date for an induction?!

FiRaffe · 11/03/2015 18:48

They seemed to suggest to us RL that they would scan twice to check growth. I guess they'd scan you the next week maybe then reassess but I don't know for sure.

TheBooMonster · 11/03/2015 18:49

rl with DD they sent me for a scan at 32 weeks excuse she was small by fundal height, and she was on the bottom (9%) line of the growth chart, so I was asked to go back again at 36 weeks, where she'd shown little to no growth (and they had to remeasure her femur because it looked like it had shrunk) they then decided to take her out, so they kept me in, gave me 2 lots of steroids and induced me. If you're going for a growth scan you'll likely see a consultant even if you don't normally, so if they ask you to come back then check what the plan would be going forward before you leave because we didn't, so were caught a bit off guard at 36 weeks! More often than not the scans are fine and it's nothing to worry about though, bump has been between the lines at both growth scans so far.

Thanks FiRaffe and Boo.
It really has made me think 'Nothing is organised enough yet!' So I'm on a mission to get things sorted now. We still have a table to pack away so we can put the changing table there. Everything is at my mums house as we haven't had the room here as yet.
Luckily one big thing will be ticked off the list tomorrow. I had a text from Mothercare saying my Isofix Base has been delivered to the store so going to pick that up and get it fitted into my car tomorrow.

TheBooMonster · 11/03/2015 19:09

don't panic yourself rl all baby needs to start with is clothes, nappies, somewhere to sleep and most importantly, you. Changing tables and other furniture can be put up after baby comes! DD spent her first night at home in the carry cot part of the travel system because the crib was halfway across the country and she survived, so even if you get kept in at this or the next scan everything will be fine bestest words of wisdom oh, and perhaps get OH to practice with the car seat once you have the isofix...

Thanks chicken , crying with laughter yet again!

RL when I was panicking last weekend that we couldn't seem to find any of the things on my "still to get" list when shopping in town, my DH said- oh well for millennia all babies have really needed is the boob! :) So i echo *boo" in saying don't worry, unless nesting and fussing around is making you feel better/distracting you, then go ahead! How long are you waiting for scan? I would get move fwd if at all poss- worry isn't good for anyone
